सत्यवादी और स्पष्टवादी होने में अनुपम
सुप्रसिद्ध और विश्व-विख्यात बाइबल कॉलेज, डैलस बाइबल सेमीनरी के संस्थापक तथा भूतपूर्व अधिपति, ल्यूइस एस. शेफर ने कहा था, “बाइबल ऐसी पुस्तक नहीं है जिसे कोई मनुष्य, यदि वह लिखना चाहता, तो वैसा लिख पाता जैसी वह है; और न ही यह ऐसी पुस्तक है जिसे यदि वह वैसे लिख पाता जैसी वह है, तो फिर वह उसे लिखना चाहता।” उनकी यह बात बहुत अटपटी लगती है, और तुरंत समझ में नहीं आती है ; किन्तु बिलकुल सटीक और सही है, क्योंकि उन्होंने यह बात बाइबल के पूर्णतः सत्यवादी और स्पष्टवादी होने के संदर्भ में कही थी। हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है कि बाइबल की पुस्तकों के 40 से भी अधिक भिन्न और पृथक पृष्ठभूमियों वाले लेखकों के, लगभग 1500 वर्षों के अन्तराल में, तीन महाद्वीपों में और तीन भिन्न भाषाओं में लिखने के बावजूद, उन पुस्तकों में परस्पर पूर्ण सामंजस्य है, कोई भी परस्पर विरोधाबहस नहीं है। बहुधा, बाइबल की सच्चाई और खराई पर सन्देह उत्पन्न करने के लिये, उसके इस अनोखे गुणों के विरुद्ध, यह आरोप लगाया जाता है कि बाइबल की पुस्तकों को संकलित करते समय, संकलन करने वाले संपादकों ने उन्हें "उपयुक्त रीति से संपादित” कर दिया होगा, जिससे कि वे परस्पर सामंजस्यपूर्ण तथा बिना किसी भी परस्पर विरोधाभास के प्रतीत हों। परन्तु बाइबल की पुस्तकों की प्राचीन प्रतिलिपियाँ, जिनकी खोज और उपलब्धता बाइबल के संकलित किये जाने के सदियों बाद हुई, दिखाती हैं कि संकलित बाइबल की पुस्तकों के लेख और बाद में मिले पुस्तकों के प्राचीन लेख जो संकलन से पहले के हैं, उनमें कोई अन्तर नहीं है, कुछ भी नहीं बदला गया है, और अपनी सन्तुष्टि तथा पुष्टि करने के लिये कोई भी उन्हें देख और अध्ययन कर सकता है।
बाइबल के परमेश्वर के लिए, उसके इस सत्य-वचन में लिखा गया है: "सृष्टि की कोई वस्तु उस से छिपी नहीं है वरन जिस से हमें काम है, उस की आंखों के सामने सब वस्तुएं खुली और बेपरदा हैं" (इब्रानियों 4:13); तथा बाइबल के लिए लिखा गया है, "सत्य के द्वारा उन्हें पवित्र कर: तेरा वचन सत्य है" (यूहन्ना 17:17); "तेरा सारा वचन सत्य ही है; और तेरा एक एक धर्ममय नियम सदा काल तक अटल है" (भजन 119:160)। यह केवल कहने की बात नहीं है, वरन बाइबल का के परम-सत्यों में से एक है। बाइबल ही एकमात्र ऐसी पुस्तक है जो अपने पात्रों, प्रमुख लोगों, नायकों, और बाइबल के लेखकों तक के भी जीवन, व्यवहार, और पापों को बड़ी स्पष्टता तथा पूर्ण सत्यता के साथ प्रकट करती है और बताती है। चाहे वे परमेश्वर द्वारा चुने हुए लोग ही क्यों न हों, और उनके उस व्यवहार या बात से लोगों को उँगली उठाने और लांछन लगाने के अवसर ही क्यों न मिले, किन्तु बाइबल कभी भी सत्य कहने और स्पष्टता से कहने से बचती नहीं है।
बाइबल अपने किसी भी पात्र की किसी भी कमज़ोरी, पाप की प्रवृत्ति, झूठ, छल, शारीरिक भावनाओं, आदि को छुपाने, या उनके लिए बहाने बनाने, अथवा उन्हें किसी भक्ति अथवा धार्मिक आवरण में ढाँप कर उन्हें उचित और स्वीकार्य ठहराने के प्रयास कदापि नहीं करती है; वरन गलत और अनुचित को दो टूक गलत और अनुचित बताकर उसके प्रति परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण और न्याय को भी साथ ही बता देती है। बाइबल परमेश्वर का वचन है, उसकी हर बात सत्य पर केंद्रित है, किसी कल्पना, धारणा, अवसरवादिता, अथवा छल पर नहीं। उसमें सत्य और असत्य, भला और बुरा, उत्तम और निकृष्ट, आशा और निराशा, जीवन का आनंद और पीड़ा, सभी कुछ साफ, स्पष्ट, सत्य वचनों में लिखा और बताया गया है। बाइबल के इस सत्यवादी और स्पष्टवादी होने के दावे को आज तक कभी भी, कोई भी, कितने ही प्रयासों के बावजूद कभी गलत प्रमाणित नहीं करने पाया है; इसलिए बाइबल की हर बात की सत्यता को बिना किसी संशय के स्वीकार किया जा सकता है, परख कर देखा जा सकता है, जैसा कि बाइबल खुद 1 थिस्सलूनीकियों 5:21 में आमंत्रित करती है।
बाइबल की इस अभूतपूर्व तथा अनुपम सत्यवादिता एवं स्पष्टवादिता के कुछ उदाहरणों को, बाइबल के कुछ पात्रों, घटनाओं, और लेखों में से देखते हैं:
बाइबल के प्रमुख नायकों, वंशों के कुल-पिताओं, के पाप स्पष्ट लिखे गए हैं:
उत्पत्ति 9:20-21 – नूह दाखमधु पीकर मतवाला हुआ, और अनुचित दशा में व्यवहार किया।
उत्पत्ति 12:11-13 – अब्राहम ने अपनी जान बचाने के लिए अपनी पत्नी से झूठ बोलने को कहा तथा उसे अन्य पुरुषों द्वारा भ्रष्ट किए जाने के जोखिम में डाला।
उत्पत्ति 27:21-27 – याकूब ने अपने अंधे पिता से झूठ बोलकर तथा उसको धोखा देकर अपने भाई की आशीषों को प्राप्त किया।
परमेश्वर के लोगों, इस्राएल, के पापों को सार्वजनिक करके उनकी भर्त्सना की गई – व्यवस्थाविवरण 9:7, 24; भजन 78:8; 1 शमूएल 8:8; प्रेरितों 7:51-53; आदि।
राजा दाऊद ने अपने वफादार सेनापति ऊरिय्याह की पत्नी के साथ व्यभिचार किया, तथा उसके गर्भवती होने पर अपने पाप को छुपाने के लिए ऊरिय्याह को धोखे से मरवा डाल; जिसके लिए परमेश्वर ने उसे उसी के भरे दरबार में दोषी ठहराया और दंडित किया (2 शमूएल 11 और 12 अध्याय)।
राजा दाऊद ने अपने पुत्र, सुलेमान को इस्राएल का राजा बना दिया, और अपनी मृत्यु से पहले (1 राजाओं 2:5-9) में सुलेमान को "सुझाव" दिया कि योआब और शिमी से उनके दाऊद के प्रति व्यवहार का बदला ले। दूसरे शब्दों में, दाऊद ने उन्हें वास्तव में क्षमा नहीं किया था, यद्यपि दिखाने के लिये वह यही कहता रहा। सम्भवतः, दाऊद ने सोचा होगा कि इतिहास उसे नहीं बल्कि सुलैमान को उनकी मृत्यु का ज़िम्मेदार ठहराएगा, कि उसने अपने पिता के अपमान का बदल लिया। परन्तु परमेश्वर ने उसके इस कार्य को अपने अनन्तकालीन, अपरिवर्तनीय वचन में लिखवाकर, दाऊद के प्रतिशोध की भावना को हमेशा के लिए सभी मनुष्यों के सामने उजागर कर दिया।
सुसमाचार लेखक तथा प्रचारक अपनी कमियों और पापों का अंगीकार अपने द्वारा लिखे गए वचनों में लिखते हैं:
मत्ती 26 :31-56 – शिष्यों ने प्रभु के साथ बने रहने के दावे किए, किन्तु संकट आते ही उसे छोड़ कर भाग गए, पतरस ने तो तीन बार, एक दासी लड़की के सामने भी, प्रभु को जानने से भी इनकार कर दिया।
मरकुस 6:52; 8:18 – शिष्यों ने प्रभु द्वारा सिखाए और समझाने के बाद भी अपने मन की कठोरता के कारण अविश्वास के साथ व्यवहार किया।
लूका 8:24-25 – शिष्यों ने प्रभु यीशु को जानते और उसके साथ रहते हुए भी अविश्वास के साथ व्यवहार किया।
मरकुस 9:33-35 – प्रभु द्वारा दीनता और नम्रता का जीवन जीने के बारे में सिखाए जाने के बावजूद शिष्यों में एक-दूसरे से बड़ा बनने की चाह रहती थे, और वे इसके लिए प्रभु से छिपकर आपस में विवाद भी करते थे।
मरकुस 10:35-37 – प्रभु के चुने हुए बारह में से दो शिष्यों, याकूब और यूहन्ना, ने स्वार्थी होकर अपने लिए स्वर्ग में औरों से उत्तम आशीष का स्थान सुनिश्चित करने का प्रयास किया।
1 कुरिन्थियों 1:11 – प्रभु के विश्वासी लोगों की मंडली में परस्पर झगड़े होते थे; मंडलियों के लोगों के ऐसे व्यवहार से पौलुस प्रेरित दुखी था (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:21; 2 कुरिन्थियों 2:3-4; गलातियों 3:1)।
गलातियों 2:11-14 - पतरस और बरनबास ने मसीही व्यवहार में दोगलापन, पाखण्ड किया, तो पौलुस ने उन्हें इसके लिये सब के सामने डाँट दिया।
ये बाइबल के पात्रों, और उनके जीवन के केवल कुछ उदाहरण हैं। किन्तु परमेश्वर ने इन्हीं दुर्बल, बारंबार गलती करते रहने वाले, संसार की दृष्टि में अयोग्य लोगों को लेकर उन्हें अद्भुत रीति से परिवर्तित कर दिया, और अपनी महिमा का कारण बना लिया। प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर आज भी परमेश्वर सारे संसार के सभी लोगों में यही करने में लगा हुआ है। जो कोई भी, वह चाहे कैसे भी पाप करने वाला, कैसी भी पृष्ठभूमि से, कोई भी भिन्न दृष्टिकोण रखने वाला व्यक्ति क्यों न हो, जो कोई स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करके अपने पापों के लिए उससे क्षमा माँग लेता है, अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित कर देता है, प्रभु परमेश्वर उसे स्वीकार करके, उसका जीवन बदल देता है, उसे अपनी समानता में ढालने लगता है।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Unique in Being Absolutely Truthful and Forthright
The founder and former President of the renowned and world-famous Bible College, Dallas Bible Seminary, Lewis S. Schaefer said, “The Bible is not a book that a man, if he wanted to write, would have been able to write it as it is; Nor is it a book that if he could write it as it is, he would have wanted to write it." His words seem very awkward, and are not readily understood; But are absolutely accurate and correct, because he said this in the context of the Bible being absolutely truthful and forthright. We have seen in the preceding articles, the unique feature of the Bible that despite its history of having been written by over 40 different authors having diverse backgrounds, over a period of about 1500 years, in three different continents, and three different languages, all its 66 books are fully in harmony and mutually non-contradictory. Often, to create a doubt on the Bible's authenticity and truthfulness, an allegation is made against it, that editors "suitably edited" the contents while compiling the books, to make them appear harmonious and non-contradictory. But the ancient manuscripts of books of the Bible, that have been discovered centuries after the books of the Bible were compiled together, reveal that the text of the books of the compiled Bible is the same as that of the ancient manuscripts of individual uncompiled books; nothing has been changed, and anyone can study and compare them to satisfy themselves.
As for the God of the Bible, it is written in this truthful Word of God: "And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account" (Hebrews 4:13). ); and for the Bible is written, "Sanctify them by Your truth: Your word is truth" (John 17:17); "The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever" (Psalm 119:160). These are not just for the sake of saying, but one of the ultimate truths of the Bible. The Bible is the only book that reveals and speaks with great clarity and absolute truth about the lives, behavior, and even the sins of its characters, prominent people, heroes, and even of the authors of the Bible. Even if they are God's chosen people, and even if their behavior or words give people opportunities to point fingers and slander, yet, the Bible never shies away from telling the truth and saying it very frankly.
The Bible never attempts to cover up any weaknesses, sinful tendencies, lies, deceit, lusts, etc., nor gives any excuses for any such behavior of any of its characters, nor tries to justify them or their behavior by giving it a devotional or religious veneer. Rather, along with describing their wrong and unfair behavior as wrong and unfair, it simultaneously also tells God's attitude and justice towards this behavior. The Bible is the Word of God, everything it says is based upon truth, not on any imagination, notion, opportunism, or deceit. In it, truth and untruth, good and bad, superior and ulterior, hope and despair, the joy and pain of life, everything is written and explained in clear, unambiguous, truthful words. No one, in spite of many efforts, has ever been able to falsify this claim of the Bible to be truthful and forthright; Therefore, the truthfulness of everything in the Bible can be accepted without any doubts, can unhesitatingly be tested and verified, as the Bible itself invites to do in 1 Thessalonians 5:21.
Let's look at this unique and unparalleled truthfulness and forthrightness of the Bible, through examples of some of the characters, events, and writings in the Bible:
The sins of the major biblical heroes, the patriarchs of the lineages, are clearly written:
Genesis 9:20-21 - Noah got drunk through wine, and behaved in an inappropriate condition.
Genesis 12:11-13 - Abraham told his wife to lie to save her life and put her at risk of being corrupted by other men.
Genesis 27:21-27 - Jacob obtained his brother's blessings by lying and deceiving his blind father.
The sins of God's people, Israel, have been publicly exposed and condemned – Deuteronomy 9:7, 24; Psalm 78:8; 1 Samuel 8:8; Acts 7:51-53; etc.
King David committed adultery with the wife of his faithful general, Uriah, and then had Uriah killed by deceit, to cover up his sin when she was pregnant; For which God exposed him in his royal court, and openly pronounced punishment on him (2 Samuel 11 and 12 chapters).
King David, having made his son Solomon the King of Israel, before his death (1 Kings 2:5-9) "suggests" to Solomon to take his revenge on Joab and Shimei. In other words, David had not really forgiven them despite his pretense to the contrary. Probably David thought history would hold not him but Solomon guilty of avenging his father for having insulted him. But God, had it written in His eternal unalterable word, to expose David's revenge to all of mankind.
Gospel writers and evangelists confess their shortcomings and sins in their own writings:
Matthew 26:31-56 - The disciples claimed to be faithful and remain with the Lord, but left him as soon as trouble struck, Peter denied knowing the Lord three times, even in front of a maidservant girl.
Mark 6:52; 8:18 - The disciples behaved with unbelief because of the hardness of their hearts, even after being taught and having had things explained by the Lord to them.
Luke 8:24-25 - The disciples behaved with unbelief even though they knew and lived with the Lord Jesus.
Mark 9:33-35 - Despite being taught by the Lord about living a life of humility and submissiveness, the disciples desired to be greater than each other, and they even disputed among themselves about it, while trying to keep it a secret from the Lord.
Mark 10:35-37 - Two of the Lord's chosen Twelve disciples, James and John, selfishly sought to secure for themselves a place of blessing over and above all the others in heaven.
1 Corinthians 1:11 – Conflicts occurred in the congregation of the Lord's believers; The apostle Paul was saddened by such behavior of the people in the congregations (1 Corinthians 4:21; 2 Corinthians 2:3-4; Galatians 3:1).
Galatians 2:11-14 - Peter and Barnbas behaved hypocritically, in an unChristian manner, and Paul publicly rebuked them for this.
These are just a few examples of Biblical characters, and some incidents from their lives. But God took these weak, frequently errant, people unworthy in the eyes of the world, and wonderfully transformed them, and made them an instrument for His glory. Even today, through the Lord Jesus Christ, God is engaged in doing just the same for all the people of the whole world. Whoever, no matter how sinful, no matter of what background, no matter of what differing point of view, whosoever willingly and sincerely believes in the Lord Jesus Christ and seeks His forgiveness for his sins, submits his life to Him, the Lord God accepts him and transforms his life, begins to mold him into his likeness.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
