उद्धार का कार्य प्रभु यीशु में संपन्न (2)

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि किस तरह से प्रभु यीशु ने समस्त मानवजाति के सभी पाप स्वेच्छा से स्वयं पर ले लिए, और उनके दण्ड, मृत्यु - आत्मिक और शारीरिक, को सह लिया; और इस प्रकार समस्त मानव जाति के सभी पापों की सम्पूर्ण कीमत चुका दी। अब किसी भी मनुष्य को अपने पापों के दण्ड से मुक्त होने के लिए प्रभु यीशु द्वारा तैयार किए और उपलब्ध करवाए गए मार्ग को स्वीकार करने और उसका पालन करने के अतिरिक्त और कुछ करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। पापों से मुक्ति और परमेश्वर के साथ मेल-मिलाप का मार्ग सभी के लिए मुफ़्त में उपलब्ध है; बस उसे स्वेच्छा से, और पूर्ण समर्पण के साथ स्वीकार करके, उसका निर्वाह करना है। आज हम पिछले लेख की बात को और आगे देखेंगे, कि पाप के दण्ड, मृत्यु को सह लेने के बाद, प्रभु यीशु ने मृत्यु पर जयवन्त होकर, अनन्त जीवन किस प्रकार से सभी के लिए उपलब्ध करवाया। 

    संपूर्ण मानवजाति के पापों के समाधान और निवारण के लिए आवश्यक बलिदान और प्रायश्चित का कार्य तो इस प्रकार प्रभु ने पूरा कर दिया। अब पाप के कारण आई मृत्यु को मिटा देना और शारीरिक और आत्मिक मृत्यु से मनुष्यों को स्वतंत्र कर देना शेष था। प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास लाने, उसे अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार कर लेने के द्वारा हमारा मेल-मिलाप परमेश्वर पिता से हो जाता है “क्योंकि बैरी होने की दशा में तो उसके पुत्र की मृत्यु के द्वारा हमारा मेल परमेश्वर के साथ हुआ फिर मेल हो जाने पर उसके जीवन के कारण हम उद्धार क्यों न पाएंगे?” (रोमियों 5:10); हम परमेश्वर की संतान बन जाते हैं “परन्तु जितनों ने उसे ग्रहण किया, उसने उन्हें परमेश्वर के सन्तान होने का अधिकार दिया, अर्थात उन्हें जो उसके नाम पर विश्वास रखते हैं। वे न तो लहू से, न शरीर की इच्छा से, न मनुष्य की इच्छा से, परन्तु परमेश्वर से उत्पन्न हुए हैं” (यूहन्ना 1:12-13); प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ स्वर्गीय बातों के वारिस बन जाते हैं “और यदि सन्तान हैं, तो वारिस भी, वरन परमेश्वर के वारिस और मसीह के संगी वारिस हैं, जब कि हम उसके साथ दुख उठाएं कि उसके साथ महिमा भी पाएं” (रोमियों 8:17); अर्थात हमारी आत्मिक मृत्यु की दशा, यानि कि परमेश्वर से दूरी का, निवारण हो जाता है। 

    इसी प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु हमें शारीरिक मृत्यु की दशा से भी निकालता है। जब प्रभु यीशु की देह पर समस्त मानवजाति के पापों का दोष लाद दिया गया, तो उसे भी शारीरिक मृत्यु से होकर निकलना पड़ा। किन्तु पुनरुत्थान के बाद जिस प्रकार प्रभु यीशु की देह एक अलौकिक देह हो गई थी; उसका प्रत्यक्ष स्वरूप, पहले के समान ही रहा। वह उसी चेहरे, कद, और काठी में था, उसकी आवाज़ वैसी ही थी जैसे पहले थी, शिष्यों द्वारा वैसे ही पहचाना गया जैसे वह मरने से पहले था, उसके हाथों और पैरों में तथा पंजर में क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने के घाव के निशान भी विद्यमान थे (यूहन्ना 24:27), उसने उन से लेकर भोजन भी खाया (लूका 24:41-43)। किन्तु साथ ही प्रभु की पुनरुत्थान हुई देह में कुछ विलक्षण भी था, वह बंद दरवाजों के बावजूद उनके पास कमरे के अंदर आ गया (यूहन्ना 24:26), और वह उसी देह में उनके देखते-देखते स्वर्ग पर उठा लिया गया (लूका 24:50-51)। जिस देह में पाप का प्रभाव है, उसे एक बार मरना ही होगा; हम पहले भी देख चुके हैं कि प्रत्येक मनुष्य पाप के दोष और प्रवृत्ति के साथ जन्म लेता है। इसलिए प्रत्येक मानव देह को एक बार शारीरिक मृत्यु से होकर निकलना पड़ता है, और प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भी यह अनिवार्य है। किन्तु मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह आश्वासन है कि प्रभु यीशु के दूसरे आगमन पर उसके लोग सदेह, अपने पृथ्वी के समय के समान दिखने वाले स्वरूप में जिलाए जाएंगे, “क्योंकि जब मनुष्य के द्वारा मृत्यु आई; तो मनुष्य ही के द्वारा मरे हुओं का पुनरुत्थान भी आया। और जैसे आदम में सब मरते हैं, वैसे ही मसीह में सब जिलाए जाएंगे। परन्तु हर एक अपनी अपनी बारी से; पहिला फल मसीह; फिर मसीह के आने पर उसके लोग” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:21-23) उसी प्रकार हमारे देह भी मरनहार से अविनाशी, स्वर्गीय हो जाएगी, और मृत्यु पूर्णतः पराजित हो जाएगी, मिट जाएगी “क्योंकि अवश्य है, कि यह नाशमान देह अविनाश को पहिन ले, और यह मरनहार देह अमरता को पहिन ले। और जब यह नाशमान अविनाश को पहिन लेगा, और यह मरनहार अमरता को पहिन लेगा, तब वह वचन जो लिखा है, पूरा हो जाएगा, कि जय ने मृत्यु को निगल लिया” (1 कुरिन्थियों 15:53-54)। 

    इस प्रकार प्रभु यीशु के हमारे स्थान पर कलवरी के क्रूस पर मारे जाने, गाड़े जाने, और तीसरे दिन जी उठने के द्वारा हमारे लिए पापों की क्षमा, उद्धार, परमेश्वर के साथ मेल-मिलाप हो जाने, और मनुष्य के अदन की वाटिका की स्थिति में बहाल हो जाने का मार्ग बन कर तैयार है, सभी के लिए सेंत-मेंत उपलब्ध है। अब आपके लिए यह प्रश्न है, विचार करने वाली बात है कि जब प्रभु यीशु ने आपको पापों के प्रभाव से छुटकारा देने के लिए जो कुछ भी आवश्यक था, वह सब कर के, मुफ़्त में उपलब्ध करवा दिया है, और उसे आपसे आपका भौतिक एवं सांसारिक कुछ भी नहीं चाहिए; उसे केवल आपका मन चाहिए, और वह भी इसलिए कि वह उसे शुद्ध और पवित्र बना सके, तो फिर यीशु मसीह को अपना प्रभु और उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने में आपको किस बात का संकोच है? आप यह कदम क्यों नहीं उठाना चाहते हैं? स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें।” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा।

Lord Jesus Accomplished the Work of Salvation (2)

In the previous article we have seen how the Lord Jesus voluntarily took upon Himself all the sins of entire mankind, and then suffered their penalty, death - both spiritual and physical; and thereby paid in full the penalty of all of the sins of all of mankind. Now, no person has to do anything other than accept and obey the way of salvation prepared and made available for everyone to be relieved of suffering the penalty for sins. The way of salvation from sins and being reconciled with God is freely available for everyone; It only has to be accepted voluntarily, with complete submission, and be obeyed. Today, we will consider further what we had seen in the previous article, that after having suffered the penalty of sin, i.e., death, how the Lord Jesus was victorious over death, and made available eternal life for everyone.

In this manner, the Lord completed and fulfilled all that was required to be done for the atonement of sins and redemption of mankind through His sacrifice. Now what was left to be done was to destroy the hold of death and deliver mankind from physical and spiritual death which had come upon them because of sin. On coming into faith in the Lord Jesus, accepting Him as our Savior, we are reconciled with God “For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life” (Romans 5:10); we become the children of God “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God” (John 1:12-13); and become co-inheritors with the Lord Jesus of the heavenly things “and if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together” (Romans 8:17); implying that our spiritual death, our separation from God has been solved and restored.

Similarly, the Lord delivers us out from our physical death as well. When the sins of entire mankind were put upon the body of Lord Jesus, then He too had to pass through the experience of physical death. But after His resurrection, just as His body received supernatural form - His visible form was just as He was before. He had the same face, height, features, voice, etc. as He had before His crucifixion; He was recognized by the disciples through all these characteristics; and on His body the signs of being nailed to the cross and pierced by a spear were also present (John 24:47). He took food from them and ate it in their presence (Luke 24:41-43). But His resurrected body also had some extraordinary features as well; He came to the disciples through closed doors (John 24:26), and He ascended to heaven in that same body before their eyes (Luke 24:50-51). Every physical body that has the effects of sin, will have to physically die once; we have already seen that every person is born with a sin nature, a tendency to sin, and the guilt of sin. Therefore, every human body also has to pass through death once, and this is mandatory for every Christian Believer as well. But the Christian Believers have this assurance that at the second coming of Christ, His people, will be resurrected in their physical bodies, in a form and appearance as they were on earth “For since by man came death, by Man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ all shall be made alive. But each one in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's at His coming” (1 Corinthians 15:21-23), and our resurrected bodies too will be converted from the perishable to imperishable, heavenly bodies, and death will be completely defeated for ever “For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So, when this corruptible has put on incorruption, and this mortal has put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written: "Death is swallowed up in victory."” (1 Corinthians 15:53-54).

In this manner, by taking our place, and dying on the cross, being buried, and resurrected on the third day, the Lord has done whatever was required to be done for the forgiveness of our sins, for our salvation, our being reconciled with God, and being restored to the same state as was in the Garden of Eden before falling into sin; He has prepared and provided, freely, the way to be delivered from sin and death to the whole world. The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मानवजाति के पाप के समाधान और निवारण के लिए एक सिद्ध मनुष्य में जो गुण उपलब्ध होने चाहिएं, वे सभी प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विद्यमान थे; और वे मनुष्य के पाप के प्रभावों से छुटकारा देने के लिए सर्वथा उपयुक्त व्यक्ति थे। आज हम देखेंगे कि प्रभु यीशु ने सारे संसार के सभी मनुष्यों के लिए यह उद्धार का कार्य कैसे संपन्न किया? प्रभु यीशु पूर्णतः मनुष्य होने के साथ, पूर्णतः परमेश्वर भी हैं। अपने पृथ्वी के समय पर वे ये दोनों बातें अपने जीवन, कार्यों, शिक्षाओं और आश्चर्यकर्मों के द्वारा - जिनमें मृतकों को फिर से जिला उठाना भी सम्मिलित है, दिखा चुके थे, प्रमाणित कर चुके थे; और उनके विरोधी भी स्वीकार करते थे कि वे अलौकिक हैं। यह एक सामान्य समझ की बात है कि परमेश्वर की पवित्रता किसी भी रीति से मलिन नहीं हो सकती है, उसमें अपवित्रता नहीं आ सकती है; और न ही उसकी सिद्धता किसी भी रीति से कम हो सकती है। यदि परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और सिद्धता में किसी भी प्रकार से कोई भी घटी आ सकती, तो फिर न तो वह पवित्रता और सिद्धता, और न ही उस पवित्रता और सिद्धता को रखने वाला परमेश्वर पूर्णतः पवित्र और सिद्ध एवं सर्वशक्तिमान माना जा सकता है। फिर तो वह जो परमेश्वर की सिद्धता और पवित्रता को घटा सकता है परमेश्वर से अधिक शक्तिशाली होगा, और परमेश्वर फिर परमेश्वर नहीं रह जाएगा। तात्पर्य यह है कि पवित्र और सिद्ध परमेश्वर की पवित्रता और सिद्धता की तुलना में कितना भी जघन्य, कितना भी बड़ा, संख्या में कितने भी अधिक पाप क्यों न हों, वे उस पवित्रता और सिद्धता को कम नहीं कर सकते हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने यह बात अपने जीवन भर निष्पाप, निष्कलंक, निर्दोष रहकर दिखा दी, कि पापियों की संगति के कारण उनकी पवित्रता और सिद्धता पर कोई आंच नहीं आई, वह कभी किसी भी रीति से कम नहीं हुई; यहाँ तक कि शैतान द्वारा चालीस दिन तक परखे जाने पर भी नहीं!

    अपनी पवित्रता और सिद्धता को भली-भांति दिखाने और प्रमाणित करने के बाद, अपने बलिदान देने के समय पर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने सारे संसार के सभी लोगों - जो जीवन जी चुके थे, जो तब वर्तमान थे, और जो आने वाले थे, उन सभी के सारे पापों को अपने ऊपर ले लिया। यहाँ यह ध्यान रखने की आवश्यकता है कि समय का बंधन और सीमाएं, अर्थात, भूत-वर्तमान-भविष्य काल हम मनुष्यों और सृजे गए जगत के लिए हैं; परमेश्वर के लिए समय की कोई बंदिश नहीं है। इस संदर्भ में कुछ बाइबल के कुछ पद देखिए: “क्योंकि हजार वर्ष तेरी दृष्टि में ऐसे हैं, जैसा कल का दिन जो बीत गया, या रात का एक पहर” (भजन 90:4);  “यीशु मसीह कल और आज और युगानुयुग एक सा है” (इब्रानियों 13:8); “हे प्रियो, यह एक बात तुम से छिपी न रहे, कि प्रभु के यहां एक दिन हजार वर्ष के बराबर है, और हजार वर्ष एक दिन के बराबर हैं” (2 पतरस 3:8)। परमेश्वर समय की सीमा से बंधा हुआ नहीं है, इसलिए उसके लिए सृष्टि के समस्त इतिहास के सभी मनुष्यों के पापों को अपने ऊपर ले लेना, समय द्वारा प्रभावित अथवा बाधित होने वाले बात नहीं है। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा सभी मनुष्यों के पापों को अपने ऊपर लेने को ऐसे समझिए - फर्श पर फैले हुए मैले पानी को जिस प्रकार से स्पंज या पोंछे का कपड़ा, अपनी क्षमता के अनुसार सोख लेता है, फर्श पर से अपने अंदर ले लेता है, और फिर वह मैला पानी फर्श पर नहीं रह जाता है वरन उस स्पंज या कपड़े में आ जाता है, और तब मैला फर्श नहीं, वरन मैला वह स्पंज या कपड़ा हो जाता है। उस स्पंज या कपड़े ने वह सारा मैला पानी कोमलता से अपने अंदर ले लिया और फर्श को स्वच्छ और सूखा बना दिया; किन्तु उस कपड़े या सपंज को अब उसमें विद्यमान उस मैले पानी के कारण निचोड़ा और फटका जाता है - फर्श को कोमलता से स्वच्छ करने वाले को अब उस गंदगी के लिए यातना सहनी पड़ती है, जो उसकी अपनी कभी  नहीं थी, वरन उसने बाहर से अपने अन्दर ले ली थी। उसी प्रकार से प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने क्रूस पर समस्त मानवजाति के संपूर्ण पापों को अपने ऊपर ले लिया; उसके लिए लिखा है, “जो पाप से अज्ञात था, उसी को उसने हमारे लिये पाप ठहराया, कि हम उस में हो कर परमेश्वर की धामिर्कता बन जाएं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:21) - वह जिसमें पाप की परछाईं भी नहीं थी, वही हमारे लिए स्वयं पाप बन गया, उसने समस्त मानवजाति के सभी पापों को अपने अंदर सोख लिया और मनुष्यों को तो कोमलता से पाप से स्वच्छ कर दिया किन्तु स्वयं पाप से भर गया, उन पापों की मलिनता उसमें आ गई, और प्रभु ने उन पापों की यातना, पाप का दंड और ताड़ना स्वयं सह ली। सभी मनुष्यों के सभी पापों का बोझ, जैसा कि उसके लिए भविष्यवाणी की गई थी “हम तो सब के सब भेड़ों के समान भटक गए थे; हम में से हर एक ने अपना अपना मार्ग लिया; और यहोवा ने हम सभों के अधर्म का बोझ उसी पर लाद दिया” (यशायाह 53:6); “वह अपने प्राणों का दु:ख उठा कर उसे देखेगा और तृप्त होगा; अपने ज्ञान के द्वारा मेरा धर्मी दास बहुतेरों को धर्मी ठहराएगा; और उनके अधर्म के कामों का बोझ आप उठा लेगा” (यशायाह 53:11); उसी पर लाद दिया गया, और उसने उस बोझ को वहन कर लिया।

    परमेश्वर ने अदन की वाटिका में ही चेतावनी दी थी कि, पाप, अर्थात वर्जित फल को खा लेने की अनाज्ञाकारिता का परिणाम मृत्यु होगा, “पर भले या बुरे के ज्ञान का जो वृक्ष है, उसका फल तू कभी न खाना: क्योंकि जिस दिन तू उसका फल खाए उसी दिन अवश्य मर जाएगा” (उत्पत्ति 2:17)। इसीलिए नए नियम में लिखा है, “क्योंकि पाप की मजदूरी तो मृत्यु है, परन्तु परमेश्वर का वरदान हमारे प्रभु मसीह यीशु में अनन्त जीवन है” (रोमियों 6:23)। हम देख चुके हैं कि यह मृत्यु दो स्वरूप में है - शारीरिक, अर्थात शरीर का मर जाना; और आत्मिक, अर्थात परमेश्वर से दूरी हो जाना। क्रूस पर प्रभु यीशु ने मृत्यु के इन दोनों ही स्वरूपों को सह लिया; सब कुछ पूरा हो जाने के बाद उन्होंने स्वेच्छा से अपने प्राण त्याग दिए, उनकी शारीरिक मृत्यु हो गई “जब यीशु ने वह सिरका लिया, तो कहा पूरा हुआ और सिर झुका कर प्राण त्याग दिए” (यूहन्ना 19:30)। जब वे हम सभी के पापों को अपने ऊपर लिए हुए हमारे लिए “पाप बन गए”, तो परमेश्वर पिता ने, जो पाप के साथ समझौता और संगति नहीं कर सकता है, उसने भी परमेश्वर पुत्र, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु से अपना मुँह मोड़ लिया, समस्त मानवजाति के लिए पाप बन जाने के कारण परमेश्वर पुत्र को परमेश्वर पिता से पृथक होने की अवर्णनीय और असहनीय वेदना में से होकर निकलना पड़ा “तीसरे पहर यीशु ने बड़े शब्द से पुकार कर कहा, इलोई, इलोई, लमा शबक्तनी जिस का अर्थ यह है; हे मेरे परमेश्वर, हे मेरे परमेश्वर, तू ने मुझे क्यों छोड़ दिया?” (मरकुस 15:34) - प्रभु यीशु ने हमारे लिए वह आत्मिक मृत्यु भी स्वीकार कर ली, और वहन कर ली। क्योंकि वह हम सब के लिए मर गया, इसलिए उसकी अपेक्षा है कि उस पर और उसके इस बलिदान पर विश्वास के कारण हम उसे अपने जीवनों में प्राथमिक स्थान दें, उसके लिए जीएं “और वह इस निमित्त सब के लिये मरा, कि जो जीवित हैं, वे आगे को अपने लिये न जीएं परन्तु उसके लिये जो उन के लिये मरा और फिर जी उठा” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:15)।

Lord Jesus Accomplished the Work of Salvation (1)

In the previous article we have seen that all the characteristics that were required in the perfect man to atone for the sins of mankind and provide the eternal solution for the problem of sin, are all present in the Lord Jesus Christ, and He was the one and only appropriate person to redeem man from sin and its deleterious effects. Today, we will see how the Lord Jesus accomplished the work of salvation for mankind. The Lord Jesus, besides being fully man, is also fully God. During His time on earth, He had demonstrated and proven both these things through His life, works, teachings, and miracles - which included resurrecting those who had died; and His opponents too acknowledged His being divine. This is a well-known and understood fact that God’s holiness cannot be diminished or tarnished in any manner, He cannot become unholy by anything, and neither can His perfection decrease or become imperfection by any means. If the holiness and perfection of God could in any way be spoiled or diminished, then neither that holiness and perfection, nor the god claiming to possess that holiness and perfection can be accepted as a perfectly holy, omnipotent, and absolutely perfect god. If this diminution were possible, then whatever or whoever can do this, will automatically be more powerful than that god, and that god would no longer remain as god. The implication is that in comparison to God’s holiness and perfection, howsoever severe, howsoever ignominious a sin may be, or no matter how many and how bad the sins may be, they will never be able to diminish God’s holiness and perfection in any manner, individually or collectively. The Lord Jesus demonstrated this fact through His life on earth, by remaining sinless, spotless, without any guilt of sin, although He remained surrounded by sinful men, interacted with them, worked amongst them, touched and healed them, but nothing could tarnish His holiness and perfection, it never decreased in any manner through anything, not even after being tempted and tested by Satan for forty days!

Having quite adequately demonstrated and proven His holiness, at the time of His sacrificing His life for the sins of all of mankind - all those who had lived before Him, those who were alive during His earthly days, and those who would be born till the time of the end; He voluntarily took upon Himself all the sins of all of mankind. A thing to particularly note over here is that the limits of time as past-present-future is for us humans and the creation; not for God, God is not bound by time. Consider some Bible verses in this context: “For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it is past, And like a watch in the night” (Psalm 90:4); “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8); “But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8). God is not subject to the limits and control of time; therefore, it is not impossible or difficult for Him to take upon Himself the sins of entire mankind, irrespective of the time of their birth, past, present, or future. 

Understand the Lord’s taking upon Himself all the sins of all of mankind through an example - a sponge or cleaning cloth absorbs within it the dirty water on the floor, according to its absorbing capacity, and that dirty water then does not remain on the floor but goes inside the sponge or the cloth. Now, it is no longer the floor that is dirty, but the sponge or the cloth becomes dirty; that sponge or cloth has gently taken up within itself all that dirty water, leaving the floor clean and dry. But now, to get rid of that dirty water, it is the sponge or cloth that is wrung out and shaken up and dried - the sponge or cloth that gently took away the uncleanness from the floor, leaving it clean and dry, has to now suffer a harsh treatment for all that dirtiness within it, which was never its own, but it took it within itself from outside. Similarly, the Lord Jesus, on the cross, took upon Himself all the sins of the entire mankind; it is written of Him, “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21) - He who did not even have a shadow of sin, became sin for us, became sin personified, by absorbing within Himself all the sins of all the people of the whole of mankind. He gently took away our filthiness, leaving us clean, but Himself became full of sin and its filthiness, and suffered the penalty for all those sins, as had been prophesied about Him, “All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all” (Isaiah 53:6); “He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, For He shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:11).

God had warned in the Garden of Eden, that the consequence of eating the forbidden fruit, of disobedience, will be death, “but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:17). Therefore, it is written in the New Testament, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 6:23). We have already seen that death has two forms - physical, i.e., the dying of the body; and spiritual, i.e., separation from God. On the cross, the Lord Jesus Christ suffered both these forms of death. After fulfilling everything that had been written about Him in the Scriptures, He voluntarily gave up His Spirit, and His physical body died, “So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit” (John 19:30). At the time, when He had taken upon Himself all the sins of the whole world, when He had become sin for us, then, God who cannot compromise or fellowship with sin, He too turned His face away from God the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. To pay for the sins of the entire mankind, besides the physical torture and agony of crucifixion, that we have seen earlier, God the Son had to also undergo the indescribable and unbearable agony of separation from God the Father, and He loudly cried out “And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, "Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani?" which is translated, "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?"” (Mark 15:34) - for our redemption, the Lord Jesus accepted and suffered the spiritual death or separation from God, as well as the physical death of His earthly body. Since He died for all, therefore He expects that we believe on Him and His sacrifice for us, and because of what He has done for us, we should decide to give Him the primary place in our lives, to live for Him, “and He died for all, that those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again” (2 Corinthians 5:15).

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हम ने इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दी गई छठी आरंभिक बात, “अंतिम न्याय” के बारे में देखा था कि परमेश्वर का वचन हमें बारम्बार यह कहता है कि न्याय अन्तिम है, अपरिवर्तनीय है। कुछ मतों और डिनॉमिनेशनों में देखी जाने वाली इन मन-गढ़न्त बातों का कोई आधार, कोई पुष्टि नहीं है कि मृतकों की आत्माओं की अन्तिम नियति बदली जा सकती है। न ही कुछ अन्य लोगों की इस धारणा का बाइबल से कोई समर्थन है कि क्योंकि परमेश्वर दयालु और क्षमा करने वाला है, इसलिए अन्ततः वह सभी को क्षमा कर के अपने पास स्वर्ग में ले लेगा। हम ने यह भी देखा था कि ये और अन्य ऐसी ही बातें किस प्रकार से शैतान की युक्तियाँ हैं, लोगों को बहका कर अनन्त काल के लिए नरक में भेजने के लिए, तथा परमेश्वर और उस के वचन पर आरोप लगाने और उन में अविश्वास उत्पन्न करने के लिए, कि उस में कहा और लिखा कुछ है, और होना कुछ और है; और इसलिए, उन्हें अटल और अपरिवर्तनीय मान कर उन पर विश्वास नहीं किया जा सकता है। आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन से कुछ उदाहरण देखेंगे जो इन शैतानी धारणाओं के झूठ को उजागर करती हैं।

क्रूस पर चढ़ाए गए जिस डाकू ने पश्चाताप किया था, प्रभु ने उसे आश्वासन दिया था “तब उसने कहा; हे यीशु, जब तू अपने राज्य में आए, तो मेरी सुधि लेना। उसने उस से कहा, मैं तुझ से सच कहता हूं; कि आज ही तू मेरे साथ स्वर्गलोक में होगा” (लूका 23:42-43)। अब ध्यान कीजिए कि वह डाकू एक घोर अपराधी था, इतना बुरा कि रोमी शासन ने उसे सबसे निकृष्ट अपराधियों के लिए रखे गए मृत्यु-दण्ड के योग्य पाया था। क्रूस पर भी उस ने, उस के साथ क्रूस पर चढ़ाए गए दूसरे डाकू के साथ मिल कर प्रभु का ठट्ठा किया था (मत्ती 27:44; मरकुस 15:32)। लेकिन कुछ समय के बाद उस का हृदय-परिवर्तन हुआ, उसे एहसास हुआ कि प्रभु यीशु वास्तव में कौन है, और तब उस ने मन-फिराया और प्रभु से निवेदन किया कि उस पर दया-दृष्टि करे (लूका 23:40-41)। उस ने जैसे ही यह किया, तुरन्त ही प्रभु ने उसे आश्वासन दिया, “आज ही तू मेरे साथ स्वर्गलोक में होगा” किसी अन्तरिम स्थान पर नहीं, वरन सीधे स्वर्गलोक में प्रभु के साथ। उस डाकू के पास न तो कोई अवसर और न ही समय था कि ऐसा कुछ भी करे जो स्वर्ग में उस के प्रवेश को उचित ठहरा सके। उस ने तो किसी भी कलीसिया के किसी भी नियम और रीति को पूरा नहीं किया था; उसने कोई भला काम नहीं किया; उसका बपतिस्मा नहीं हुआ; उसने प्रभु-भोज में भाग नहीं लिया; उसने किसी प्रकार की कोई भी प्रार्थनाएं नहीं कीं। उसने बस इतना किया कि अपने जीवन के अन्तिम पलों में, सच्चे मन से पश्चाताप कर लिया, और उसके केवल यह करने से ही उसे प्रभु के साथ अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्ग में रहना प्राप्त हो गया। प्रभु ने न तो कहा, और न ही कोई संकेत किया कि उस के जीवन और कार्यों के कारण अभी तो उसे अंतरिम स्थान पर जाना होगा; और फिर वहां से, उस के लिए पृथ्वी पर लोग क्या करते हैं, उस के आधार पर, उसे स्वर्ग में लिया जा सकता है, और तब, उस समय प्रभु उस पर कृपालु रहेगा, उसे कुछ छूट दे देगा कि उसका का स्वर्ग में प्रवेश सहज हो सके। नहीं! प्रभु ने बिलकुल सीधे और स्पष्ट रीति से यह कह दिया कि तुरन्त ही उस की आत्मा प्रभु के साथ स्वर्ग में होगी। यह इस बात को स्पष्ट दिखाता है की कोई अन्तरिम स्थान नहीं है; और मृत्यु के बाद मनुष्य की आत्मा उस के अन्तिम स्थान – स्वर्ग अथवा नरक में पहुँच जाती है। हम ने पिछले लेख में इस बात की एक अन्य पुष्टि धनी व्यक्ति और लाज़रस के दृष्टान्त से भी देखी थी।

भजन 49 में, जो कोरह वंशियों का लिखा एक भजन है, पद 6 से 9 में लिखा है, “जो अपनी सम्पत्ति पर भरोसा रखते, और अपने धन की बहुतायत पर फूलते हैं, उन में से कोई अपने भाई को किसी भांति छुड़ा नहीं सकता है; और न परमेश्वर को उस के स्थान पर प्रायश्चित्त में कुछ दे सकता है, (क्योंकि उनके प्राण की छुड़ौती भारी है वह अन्त तक कभी न चुका सकेंगे)। कोई ऐसा नहीं जो सदैव जीवित रहे, और कब्र को न देखे।” इस प्रकार से पुराने नियम के समय भी परमेश्वर के लोग जानते थे कि परलोक में किसी के छुटकारे के लिए पृथ्वी पर कोई अपने सँसाधनों से कुछ नहीं कर सकता है। इसे इफिसियों 2:8-9, “क्योंकि विश्वास के द्वारा अनुग्रह ही से तुम्हारा उद्धार हुआ है, और यह तुम्हारी ओर से नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर का दान है। और न कर्मों के कारण, ऐसा न हो कि कोई घमण्ड करे” तथा तीतुस 3:5, “तो उसने हमारा उद्धार किया: और यह धर्म के कामों के कारण नहीं, जो हम ने आप किए, पर अपनी दया के अनुसार, नए जन्म के स्नान, और पवित्र आत्मा के हमें नया बनाने के द्वारा हुआ” के साथ मिला कर विचार कीजिए, और हमारे सामने बाइबल का बिल्कुल स्पष्ट कथन है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति अपने आप किए हुए किसी भी प्रकार के धार्मिकता के कार्यों, या अन्य किसी बात के द्वारा बच नहीं सकता है। अब यदि कोई व्यक्ति अपने आप को ही नहीं बचा सकता है, अपने किसी भी प्रयास से स्वयं को ही परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में धर्मी नहीं ठहरा सकता है, तो फिर वह किसी अन्य को कैसे करेगा? जब कि भजन 49:6-9 ने पहले ही कह दिया है कि किसी और को छुड़ाने के लिए कोई कुछ भी नहीं कर सकता है। इसलिए यह बिल्कुल स्पष्ट है कि लोगों के अन्तरिम स्थान पर भेजे जाने की धारणा, जहाँ से उन्हें उनके लिए पृथ्वी पर किए गए कार्यों के द्वारा छुड़ाया जा सकता है पूर्णतः झूठ है, बाइबल के बिल्कुल विरुद्ध है, और कदापि स्वीकार्य नहीं है।

पिछले लेख में हमने पहले ही बाइबल के पदों से देख लिया है कि न्याय और आत्मा का स्थान अन्तिम, अपरिवर्तनीय, और चिरस्थाई है। इसलिए, वे लोग जो इस भ्रम में जीवन जीते हैं कि वे पृथ्वी पर एक भ्रष्ट जीवन जी सकते हैं, क्योंकि अन्ततः परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वर्ग में ले ही लेगा, वे एक बहुत बड़े धोखे में जी रहे हैं, वास्तविकता की तथा परमेश्वर के वचन की सच्चाई की अनदेखी कर रहे हैं, और अन्ततः जब सत्य उन के सामने आएगा, तब समाधान का कोई अवसर, कोई तरीका उपलब्ध नहीं होगा। अगले लेख में हम न्याय से सम्बन्धित कुछ अन्य महत्वपूर्ण बातों को देखेंगे।

The Implications of Judgment Being Eternal – 2

 

    In the previous article on “Eternal Judgment,” the sixth elementary principle given in Hebrews 6:1-2 we have seen that God’s Word the Bible repeatedly says that the judgment is final and unchangeable. There is no Biblical basis or affirmation for the concocted stories seen amongst some sects and denominations that the final fate of the souls of the dead can be altered. Nor is there any support from the Bible for the belief of many others who think that since God is merciful and forgiving, therefore, eventually He will forgive everyone and take them to be with Him in heaven. We also saw how these and other such unBiblical concepts are satanic attempts to send people into eternal hell by misguiding them, and to discredit God and His Word by making people believe that they are fickle, and therefore should not be believed in. Today we will see some examples from God’s Word that show the fallacy of these satanic notions.

    The thief on the cross, who repented, was assured by the Lord Jesus, “Then he said to Jesus, "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” (Luke 23:42-43). Now, remember that he was a heinous criminal, one who was worthy of the worst kind of death penalty that the Romans used to give to worst of the criminals. Even while on the cross, he was reviling the Lord Jesus, with the other thief who had also been crucified with him (Matthew 27:44; Mark 15:32). But after sometime he had a change of heart and realized who Jesus actually was, he then repented and requested the Lord to look favorably upon him (Luke 23:40-41). When he did this, the Lord immediately assured him, “Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise” not to some intermediate place but straightaway to paradise, with the Lord. This thief had no time or opportunity to do anything to justify his entry to paradise and be with the Lord. He had not fulfilled any rules or rituals of any Church or denomination; he had not done any good works; he had not been baptized; he had not taken part in the Holy Communion; he had not said any kind of prayers. All he had done was repent of his sins in his dying moments, and that alone had assured him his place in paradise with the Lord for eternity. The Lord never said or implied that because of his life and deeds, for now he will have to go to the intermediate place; and from there, based on what others do on his behalf, he will be taken from there to heaven, and in that situation, the Lord will be considerate and give him some concessions to make his transit easier. No! The Lord simple assured that after death, his soul will be with the Lord in paradise. This clearly shows that there is no intermediate place; and after death the soul reaches its final unchanging destination – heaven or hell. We have already seen another affirmation of this in the last article, through the parable of the Rich man and Lazarus.

    In Psalm 49, a Psalm of the sons of Korah, is written in verses 6 to 9, “Those who trust in their wealth And boast in the multitude of their riches, None of them can by any means redeem his brother, Nor give to God a ransom for him-- For the redemption of their souls is costly, And it shall cease forever-- That he should continue to live eternally, And not see the Pit.” So, even in the Old Testament, the people of God knew that no one can do anything to redeem anyone in the next world, through his resources on earth. Combine this with Ephesians 2:8-9, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast” and Titus 3:5 “not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” and we have a clear Biblical statement before us that no man can save himself through any kind of works of righteousness, or anything else they may do. Now, if a person cannot save himself and be righteous before God through his own efforts of any kind, how can he do anything to save someone else? More so, when Psalm 49:6-9 has already declared that there is nothing that any man can do to redeem someone else. Hence it is quite clear that this concept of people being sent to a temporary place, from where they may be redeemed through things done on their behalf on earth, is completely false, totally unBiblical, absolutely untenable.

    In the last article we have already seen through the Biblical verses that the judgement and state of the soul of the dead is final, unalterable, and permanent. Therefore, those who think they can live a wayward life while on earth, and will eventually be taken by God into heaven, are living under a gross misconception, are ignoring reality and the truth of God’s Word; and when they will come to face the truth, then at that time they will have no remedy to rectify their state. We will consider some other important things related to judgment in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
