 परमेश्वर का भण्डारी होना – 3

 

पिछले लेख में हमने दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को, 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से दिए गए चार निर्देशों में से दूसरे निर्देश पर विचार को ज़ारी रखते हुए परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई हर बात का योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में समझा था। फिर इस सन्दर्भ में पौलुस द्वारा दी गई अपनी ही सेवकाई के उदाहरण से देखा था कि परमेश्वर का भण्डारी होना कुछ ही लोगों के लिए आरक्षित या निर्धारित नहीं किया गया है, न ही यह किसी के इसका निर्वाह करने को चुनने के द्वारा है; और न ही किसी के इस ज़िम्मेदारी को स्वीकार या अस्वीकार करने, पसंद अथवा नापसंद करने पर निर्भर है। परमेश्वर का योग्य भण्डारी होना, परमेश्वर का जन होने, मसीही विश्वासी होने, के साथ ही जुड़ा हुआ है, उसका अभिन्न अंग है। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के द्वारा कोई न कोई कार्य, कोई न कोई ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई है (इफिसियों 2:10); और जिस किसी को परमेश्वर ने जो कुछ भी दिया है, वह उसका भण्डारी है; उसे उसका योग्य भण्डारी बनकर अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी का उचित निर्वाह करना है, क्योंकि अन्ततः, वह उसके लिए प्रभु को जवाबदेह होगा (रोमियों 14:12; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:10)।

लूका 12:35-44 में एक दृष्टान्त के द्वारा प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों को सिखाया कि उन्हें सदा उसके आगमन के लिए, जो अनपेक्षित और कभी भी हो सकता है, तत्पर और तैयार रहना चाहिए। इस दृष्टान्त में, स्वामी ने जिन सेवकों को तैयार और उसकी बाट जोहते हुए पाया, उन्हें उसके द्वारा आदर और पुरस्कार मिला। और फिर प्रभु ने इस दृष्टान्त के परिदृश्य को स्वयं पर लागू करते हुए दिखाया कि स्वामी वह ही है। जब पतरस ने और स्पष्टीकरण के लिए प्रश्न किया, “हे प्रभु, क्या यह दृष्‍टान्‍त तू हम ही से या सब से कहता है?” (लूका 12:41), तब प्रभु ने स्पष्ट कर दिया कि यह स्वामी के सभी सेवकों के लिए है (पद 43); अर्थात् , वे सभी जो परमेश्वर के घराने के लोग हैं, जो परमेश्वर के जन बन गए हैं, वे उन बातों के लिए जो उन्हें परमेश्वर से मिली हैं, उन्हें सौंपी गई हैं, परमेश्वर के भण्डारी हैं, तथा उन्हें परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए वरदानों और योग्यताओं के द्वारा प्रभु के लिए कार्य करना है। परमेश्वर पिता की उन से यह अपेक्षा है कि वे उसके योग्य भण्डारी बन कर ज़िम्मेदारी और ईमानदारी से कार्य करेंगे; और जो ऐसा करेंगे, वे बहुतायत से इनाम भी पाएँगे (लूका 12:42, 44)।

अब यहाँ पर लूका 12:42 में ध्यान कीजिए कि प्रभु यीशु यह भी स्पष्ट करते हैं कि जिस सेवक को स्वामी के अन्य सेवकों की देखभाल के लिये ज़िम्मेदार ठहराया गया था, उससे क्या अपेक्षा रखी गई थी – उसे स्वामी के अन्य सेवकों को समय पर और नियमित उनका भोजन देते रहना था, कि वे भली-भांति पोषित और स्वस्थ रहें, उन्हें किसी बात की कमी न हो, जिससे कि वे स्वामी के लिए उचित रीति से कार्य करते रहें। इस बात पर पौलुस द्वारा इफिसियों की कलीसिया के अगुवों से कही गई बात के सन्दर्भ में विचार कीजिए। जब पौलुस उन से अपनी अंतिम विदाई ले रहा था, यह जानते हुए कि वे अब फिर कभी इस पृथ्वी पर नहीं मिलेंगे (प्रेरितों 20:17-38), पौलुस उन से उनके मध्य उसके द्वारा की गई अपनी सेवकाई के बारे में बात करता है, उन्हें कलीसिया के प्रति उनके दायित्वों को स्मरण दिलाता है, आने वाले दिनों के खतरों को बताता है, कि शैतान किस प्रकार से कलीसिया को हानि पहुँचाने, नष्ट करने के प्रयास करेगा। अपनी सेवकाई (तथा लूका 12:42) के हमारे सन्दर्भ में पौलुस दो बार उन से प्रेरितों 20:20, 27 में कहता है कि उसने उन से उनके लाभ की किसी बात को रोक कर नहीं रखा और परमेश्वर की सारी मनसा को उन्हें पूरी रीति से बताया। यद्यपि पौलुस की मुख्य सेवकाई अन्य-जातियों में सुसमाचार प्रचार की थी (रोमियों 15:16), लेकिन क्योंकि वह यह भी जानता था कि परमेश्वर ने उसे अपने भेदो का भण्डारी भी बनाया है, इसलिए उसे उन भेदो को भी विश्वासियों को बताना था (1 कुरिन्थियों 4:1-2)। और इसीलिए उसने किसी भी बात को छिपा कर या रोक कर नहीं रखा; अपनी सेवकाई में लूका 12:42 को पूरा किया। पौलुस का अनुसरण करने में (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1), प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को भी परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए वरदानों और योग्यताओं का उपयोग कलीसिया की सेवा तथा सभी की भलाई के लिए करना है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:7)।

अगले लेख में हम मसीहियों के परमेश्वर का योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में विचार करने को ज़ारी रखते हुए, देखेंगे कि किन बातों के कारण कोई ‘अयोग्य’ भण्डारी हो सकता है। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Being God’s Steward - 3

   In the previous article we had continued considering the second of the four instructions given by David to Solomon, given in 1 Kings 2:2-4; i.e., about being a worthy steward of God for everything God has given. In this context we had seen from Paul speaking from the example of his own ministry, that being a steward of God is neither reserved nor determined only for some specific persons, nor is it a matter of one’s choice, nor of accepting or rejecting, liking or not liking taking up this responsibility. It is very much an integral part and parcel of being God’s person, of being a Christian Believer. Every Christian Believer has been given some work, some responsibility or the other (Ephesians 2:10); and everyone is a steward of whatever has been given to them by God; it is up to them to be a worthy steward and fulfill their responsibility properly, because eventually, they will be accountable to the Lord for it (Romans 14:12; 2 Corinthians 5:10).

In Luke 12:35-44, the Lord Jesus, through a parable, taught His disciples that they should always remain ready and prepared for His coming again, which would happen unexpectedly, at any time. In the parable, those whom the master, on his return, found ready and watchful, were honored and rewarded by him; and then Lord Jesus applied the scenario in the parable to Himself, setting that He is the master. When Peter, seeking further clarification, asks, "Lord, do You speak this parable only to us, or to all people?" (Luke 12:41); the Lord Jesus clarified it is for all servants of the master (vs 43), i.e., everyone has to be busy and involved in their respective responsibilities. Therefore, all those who are part of God’s household, have become the people of God, they are also God’s stewards for whatever God has given to them, entrusted them with, and they have to be working for the Lord with their God given gifts and talents. God the Father expects that they will function as His worthy stewards, responsibly and sincerely; those who do so, will be richly rewarded (Luke 12:42, 44).

Now note here in Luke 12:42, the Lord Jesus specifies what was expected of the steward given the charge of the other of the Master’s servants – he was to give the other servants of the master their food, or due nourishment, regularly and timely, to ensure that they remained healthy and well nourished, were not deprived of anything, and therefore, were able to do their work for the master properly. Ponder over this along with what Paul says to the Elders of the Ephesian Church, when he is saying his final good bye to them, knowing they will never meet again on this earth (Acts 20:17-38). Paul speaks to them about his ministry amongst them, reminds them of their responsibilities towards the Church, warns them of the dangers in the days to come, of how Satan will try to disrupt and destroy the Church. Regarding his ministry, (in our context of Luke 12:42), Paul twice says to them, in Acts 20:20, 27, that he kept back nothing that was helpful for them and declared to them the whole counsel of God. Although Paul’s primary ministry was preaching the gospel amongst the Gentiles (Romans 15:16), but since he also knew that he had also been made a steward of the mysteries by God, he had to be faithful in sharing those mysteries with the Believers as well (1 Corinthians 4:1-2), and so, he kept nothing back, fulfilling Luke 12:42 for his ministry and stewardship. Emulating Paul (1 Corinthians 11:1), every Christian Believer, as a steward of whatever gifts and talents God has given him, has to use it to serve the Church for the profit of all (1 Corinthians 12:7).

In the next article, continuing considering about the Christians being worthy stewards for God, we will look at the things which can render one an 'unworthy' steward of God.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पुनःअवलोकन: इस श्रृंखला के आरम्भ में हमने हमने, 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 से देखा था कि राजा दाऊद, अपने जीवन के अन्त के समय, अपने पुत्र और राज्य के उत्तराधिकारी, युवा सुलैमान को निर्देश देता है कि वह किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही, तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई सामर्थ्य, बुद्धिमानी, और मार्गदर्शन के द्वारा आशीषित एवं सफल हो सकता है। दाऊद द्वारा दिये गये निर्देशों से यह स्पष्ट है कि, परमेश्वर का चुना हुआ होना सुलैमान के लिए इस बात की कोई निश्चितता नहीं था कि उसके लिए जीवन सहज होगा। वरन, इस्राएल का राजा होने की परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दी गई ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह करने में समस्याओं और परिस्थितियों का सामना तो उसे करना ही था। साथ ही दाऊद द्वारा उससे कही गयी बात में निहितार्थ था कि अपनी सुरक्षा और बचाव के लिए, उसे दाऊद द्वारा खड़ी की गई विशाल सेना पर नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखना होगा, उसका आज्ञाकारी रहना होगा, और ऐसा ही करने से वह आशीषित एवं सफल भी होगा। इसके लिए उसे इन चार बातों का पालन करना होगा, जिनकी रूप रेखा 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में दी गई है:

1.   “तू हियाव बांधकर पुरुषार्थ दिखा” (1 राजाओं 2:2)

2.   “जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझे सौंपा है, उसकी रक्षा कर”; अर्थात्, वह, परमेश्वर द्वारा उसी सौंपी गई बातों का एक अच्छा भण्डारी बने (1 राजाओं 2:3a)

3.   जितनी बातें परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी हैं, वह उनका आज्ञाकारी बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:3b)

4.   वह सावधान रहे, और हमेशा प्रभु के प्रति समर्पित बना रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4)

फिर, हमने पिछले लेख में दाऊद द्वारा सुलैमान को 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 में दिए गए चार में से पहले निर्देश, पुरुषार्थ कर, की व्याख्या का समापन किया था। हमने यह देखा था कि सुलैमान राजा होने की ज़िम्मेदारियों का ठीक से निर्वाह करते हुए जयवन्त तभी हो सकता था यदि वह साहसी हो कर कार्य करता, और ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह में उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन के लिए परमेश्वर पर भरोसा बनाए रखता।

 

इसी प्रकार से मसीही विश्वासी भी परमेश्वर के द्वारा उन्हें दी गयी जिम्मेदारियों का सफलता से निर्वाह तब ही कर सकते हैं जब वे परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखें, उसके मार्गदर्शन एवं सहायता के खोजी हों, इन बातों के लिए परमेश्वर ने उन्हें जो संसाधन उपलब्ध करवाएं हैं उन से अवगत हों, उन संसाधनों का सदुपयोग करना सीखें। और उन्हें बाधित तथा निराश करने के लिए, शैतान और उसके शक्तियों के द्वारा उनके विरुद्ध लाई जा रही सभी समस्याओं और परेशानियों के बावजूद, साहसी तथा दृढ़ होकर परमेश्वर के लिए कार्य को करने तथा परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गयी ज़िम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह में लगे रहें।

दाऊद द्वारा अपने पुत्र सुलैमान को दिया गया दूसरा निर्देश है, “जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझे सौंपा है, उसकी रक्षा कर” (1 राजाओं 2:3a), अर्थात्  परमेश्वर ने जो तुझे दिया है, या सौंपा है, उसका ध्यान रख, उसका योग्य भण्डारी बन। ध्यान कीजिए की यहाँ पर दाऊद किसी विशिष्ट ज़िम्मेदारी का नाम लेकर उसके लिए यह निर्देश नहीं दे रहा है। किन्तु वह एक बहुत व्यापक, सभी बातों को सम्मिलित कर लेने वाला निर्देश दे रहा है – परमेश्वर द्वारा तुझे सौंपी गयी सभी बातों की भली-भाँति देखभाल कर। परमेश्वर का अच्छा भण्डारी होने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर द्वारा सौंपे गए की, अपना मन लगाकर, और ध्यान से देखभाल करना। दाऊद में होकर पवित्र आत्मा सुलैमान को, जिसे एक स्थिर, शान्त, और समृद्ध राज्य का उत्तराधिकारी बनाया गया था, उसकी ज़िम्मेदारी के विषय सचेत कर रहा था। आरम्भ से ही सुलैमान को इस एहसास के साथ कार्य करना था कि राज्य उसे व्यक्तिगत आनन्द और अपने आप को ऊँचा दिखाने के लिए नहीं सौंपा गया है। बल्कि, उसे एक ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है, कि वह परमेश्वर के लोगों की देखभाल करे, उन्हें सुरक्षित रखे, और परमेश्वर के भय में बढ़ने वाला बनाए, और इस बात को स्वयं सुलैमान ने परमेश्वर से की गई अपनी प्रार्थना में व्यक्त किया है (1 राजाओं 3:7-9)।

परमेश्वर अपेक्षा करता है कि उसके लोग, जो कुछ भी वह उन्हें देता है, उसकी देखभाल करें, तथा औरों के लाभ के लिए उसका सदुपयोग करें। भंडारीपन के इस सिद्धान्त को हम आरम्भ से ही स्थापित देखते हैं। परमेश्वर ने अदन की वाटिका आदम और हव्वा के लिए लगाई, और फिर आदम को उसकी देखभाल करने की ज़िम्मेदारी सौंपी (उत्पत्ति 2:8, 15)। क्योंकि इससे पहले ही परमेश्वर आदम और हव्वा से कह चुका था कि “फूलो-फलो, और पृथ्वी में भर जाओ, और उसको अपने वश में कर लो” (उत्पत्ति 1:28); इसलिए यहाँ पर यह निहित है कि आदम और हव्वा को वाटिका की देखभाल करने थी, तथा उसे अपनी भावी पीढ़ियों के लिए सँवार कर रखना था। नूह को नाव बनाने की ज़िम्मेदारी दी गई, ताकि जो चेतावनी को मानें वे बचाए जा सकें, तथा पृथ्वी पर फिर से जीव-जंतुओं को लाने के लिए उन्हें बचा कर रखे (उत्पत्ति 6:20)। परमेश्वर ने अब्राहम को चुना, उसे आशीष दी, किन्तु साथ ही उसे यह ज़िम्मेदारी भी दी कि उसमें तथा उसके वंशजों में होकर पृथ्वी के सभी लोग आशीष पाएँगे (उत्पत्ति 12:3), अर्थात् , अब्राहम और उसके वंशज पृथ्वी के लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर की आशीषों के भण्डारी भी थे। यूसुफ को मिस्र का प्रधान मंत्री बनाया, फिरौन के बाद दूसरा सबसे शक्तिशाली अधिकारी (उत्पत्ति 41:39-44); इतने वर्षों तक दुःख उठाने की क्षतिपूर्ति के लिए नहीं, कि अब मज़े कर ले, मौज मना ले; बल्कि आने वाले भीषण अकाल में लोगों को सुरक्षित रखने की तैयारी के लिए (उत्पत्ति 41:33-39, 46-49)। मूसा को उसकी आनाकानी के बावजूद परमेश्वर ने सामर्थ्य देकर वापस मिस्र में भेजा, किसी व्यक्तिगत लाभ के लिए नहीं बल्कि इस्राएलियों को मिस्र से छुड़ा कर लाने के लिए (निर्गमन 3:10)। जिस भी व्यक्ति को परमेश्वर ने कुछ भी दिया है, उस से परमेश्वर की अपेक्षा रही है कि वह उस बात की अच्छी देखभाल करे तथा औरों की भलाई के लिए उसका सदुपयोग करे।

नए नियम में भी, अपने बारह प्रेरितों को चुनने के बाद, प्रभु ने उन्हें दी गई सामर्थ्य के साथ प्रचार करने तथा औरों की सेवा करने की सेवकाई के लिए भेजा (मत्ती 10:1, 5-8)। अपने पुनरुत्थान के बाद, जब प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को नियुक्त किया कि वे सँसार भर में सुसमाचार का प्रचार करें, तो फिर से उन्हें आश्चर्यकर्म करने की सामर्थ्य भी प्रदान की, उनके लाभ के लिए जिन लोगों के मध्य वे सुसमाचार प्रचार की सेवकाई करेंगे (मरकुस 16:15-20)। आज, मसीही विश्वासी प्रभु के भण्डारी हैं; उन्हें उसका गवाह बनकर कार्य करना है और उद्धार की ज्योति को सँसार के सामने प्रदर्शित करना है, धूमिल नहीं बल्कि तेज़ी से चमकती हुई, लोगों को आकर्षित करने वाली (मत्ती 5:14-16)।

Being God’s Steward - 1

    Review: At the beginning of this series, we had seen from 1 Kings 2:2-4, that King David, towards the end of his life, is instructing his young son and heir to the kingdom, Solomon, on how to be right with God and be blessed and successful through the strength, wisdom, and guidance of God. It is clear from the instructions given by David, that being chosen to be the King by God was no guarantee of an easy life for Solomon. Rather, he was bound to face problems and situations in fulfilling his God assigned responsibility of being the King of Israel.  David also implies that for his safety and security, Solomon should not rely upon the huge army that David had amassed; rather he must only rely upon God, be obedient to Him, which would also make him blessed and successful. For this to happen, he has to do the following 4 things that have been outlined in 1 Kings 2:2-4:

1.   To "be strong and prove yourself a man" (1Ki 2:2).

2.   To "keep the charge of the Lord God", i.e., to be a good Steward of whatever God has given to him (1Ki 2:3a).

3.   To be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it. (1Ki 2:3b).

4.   To be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1Ki 2:4b).

Then, in the previous article, we had concluded the discussion about David’s first instruction to Solomon in 1 Kings 2:2-4, i.e., to be a man. We had seen that Solomon could only handle the responsibilities of being a King and come out successful, if he carried himself courageously and trusted God to help and guide him in fulfilling his responsibilities.

 

Similarly Christian Believers too can fulfil their God given responsibilities successfully, only if they seek and trust God for His help and guidance, are aware of the resources God has given them for this, learn to use those resources, and courageously, resolutely persevere in working for God to fulfil the God given responsibilities, despite all the problems and difficulties the satanic forces bring against them to thwart them.

The second instruction given by David to his son Solomon is “And keep the charge of the Lord your God” (1 Kings 2:3a); i.e., keep a watch over, or, be a worthy steward of what God has entrusted you with. Notice that David does not specify any particular thing, but gives a very broad-based, all-encompassing instruction – be careful to look after all things that God has entrusted to you. To be a good Steward of God means to properly and diligently keep charge of what God has given you. Through David, the Holy Spirit was conveying this responsibility to Solomon, who had inherited a stable, settled, and prosperous kingdom. Solomon from the outset was to realize that the kingdom was not being handed over to him for personal enjoyment and self-exaltation. Rather, he was being given a responsibility, to look after the people of God, keep them safe, and help them grow in the fear of the Lord, as Solomon himself has expressed in his prayer to God (1 Kings 3:7-9).

God expects His people to respect, take care of, and properly utilize all that He gives to them, for the benefit of others. We see this principle of stewardship established since the very beginning. God planted the Garden of Eden for Adam and Eve, and then gave Adam the charge of taking care of it (Genesis 2:8, 15). Since God had already told Adam and Eve to “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it” (Genesis 1:28); therefore, it is implied here that Adam and Eve had to look after the Garden and maintain it for their future generations. Noah was given the charge of preparing the Ark to save those who would heed the warning, and to preserve the animals to repopulate the earth (Genesis 6:20). Abraham was chosen by God, was blessed, but was also given the charge that through him and his generations, all people of the earth were to receive God’s blessings (Genesis 12:3). In other words, Abraham and his descendants were also stewards of God’s blessings for all the people of the earth. Joseph was made the Prime Minister of Egypt, the second most powerful person in Egypt after the Pharaoh (Genesis 41:39-44), not as a compensation for all that he had suffered for so many years, not to enjoy and gratify himself; but to prepare for and preserve the people in the days of severe famine that was to come (Genesis 41:33-39, 46-49). Moses, despite his reluctance, was empowered by God and sent back to the Pharaoh, not for any personal gain but to deliver the Israelites from Egypt (Exodus 3:10). Every person whom God gave anything, God also expected from them that His gift would be appropriately taken care of and utilized for the benefit of others.

In the New Testament as well, soon after selecting His twelve Apostles, when the Lord empowered them, He also sent them out to minister to others with the gifts He had given them (Matthew 10:1, 5-8). After His resurrection, when the Lord commissioned His disciples to go into the world to preach the gospel, He again empowered them to work miracles for the benefit of the people they were to minister amongst (Mark 16:15-20). The Christian Believers today, are Lord’s stewards; they are to function as His witnesses and show forth the light of salvation to the world, not dimly but bright and shining all around, attracting others (Matthew 5:14-16).

We will continue to see and learn about the various aspects of our stewardship in the next few articles. If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

       पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि फसह के भोज के दौरान, प्रभु भोजन से उठा, और उसने शिष्यों के पैर धोए। यद्यपि सुसमाचारों के किसी भी लेखक ने प्रभु के ऐसा करने के पीछे के कारण तो दर्ज नहीं किया है, परन्तु इसके बारे में पतरस के साथ हुए प्रभु के वार्तालाप से संकेत मिलता है कि प्रभु उन्हें व्यावहारिक रीति से कुछ सिखाना चाह रहा था, कुछ ऐसा जो आने वाले समय में, उनकी सेवकाई के दौरान उनके लिए बहुत उपयोगी होता। आज हम इसी बात के बारे में देखेंगे, और अपने व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन के लिए इस घटना से निष्कर्ष निकालेंगे।

        प्रतिज्ञा किए गए मसीहा में यह दीनता और सेवा करने का रवैया होना, यशायाह के द्वारा पहले ही भविष्यवाणी करके बता दिया गया था (यशायाह 42:1-4), और मत्ती इसे प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन में पूरा होने की बात लिखता है (मत्ती 12:17-21)। बाद में, पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा, फिलिप्पियों 2:1-11 में प्रेरित पौलुस फिर से इस बात की पुष्टि करता है। समस्त सुसमाचारों में तथा परमेश्वर के संपूर्ण वचन में जहाँ भी प्रभु यीशु के बारे में लिखा गया है, हम उसमें यही दीनता और सेवा का रवैया देखते हैं। प्रभु यीशु ने प्रभु भोज को अपने शिष्यों के लिए उसकी यादगार के लिए दिया था (लूका 22:19; 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:24-25); और प्रभु की यादगार का अर्थ है प्रभु द्वारा किए गए कार्यों को, उसके जीवन और व्यवहार को उसी के समान करने के लिए याद करना; और उसकी शिक्षाओं और आज्ञाओं को पालन करने के लिए याद करना। प्रभु की मेज़ की स्थापना की तैयारियां भी हमें उन सद्गुणों को सिखाती हैं जो हमारे जीवनों में, हम जो प्रभु के नाम से जाने जाते हैं, प्रभु के शिष्य हैं, होने चाहिएं। हम इस खंड से सीखते हैं कि, प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य होने के नाते हमें वे लोग होना चाहिए जो पहले कर के, या जी कर दिखाते हैं, और तब ही उस बात का प्रचार करते या उसकी शिक्षा देते हैं। प्रभु के समान ही, दीनता और सेवा करना हमारे जीवनों की पहचान होनी चाहिए; तथा जब अवसर आए तो हमें औरों के पाँव धोने के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए।

       यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

        यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

The Lord’s Table - A Remembrance for Humility & Service (2)

 

       In the previous article we had seen that during the Passover meal, the Lord got up from the meal, and washed the disciple's feet. While none of the Gospel authors mentions the reason behind the Lord's doing this, but the Lord's conversation with Peter about it indicates that He was practically teaching them something that will be of great help to them later in their ministry. Today we will consider this, and draw conclusions from it, for our practical Christian living.

        This was the teaching pattern of the Lord Jesus, He first demonstrated through His actions and then taught about it; as Luke says in the opening sentence of the Book of Acts, “The former account I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach” (Acts 1:1). Take note of the sequence of words here, first is “to do” and then comes “to teach”; whereas nowadays, people prefer to “teach” or preach, but hardly ever demonstrate it through their lives. It is very rare to see someone first doing or living by the Lord’s instructions, and then preaching or teaching about them.

       This humility and attitude of serving in the promised Messiah had already been prophesied by Isaiah (Isaiah 42:1-4), and Matthew speaks of the fulfilment of this prophecy in the life of the Lord Jesus in Matthew 12:17-21. Later, through the Holy Spirit, in Philippians 2:1-11, the Apostle Paul again affirms it. Throughout the Gospel accounts, and wherever His life is mentioned in God’s Word, we see this attitude of humility and service in the Lord Jesus. The Lord Jesus had established the Holy Communion as a way of His remembrance by His disciples (Luke 22:19; 1 Corinthians 11:24-25); and remembrance of the Lord is to remember for emulation what He did, how he lived and behaved; and to remember His instructions for His disciples to follow them. Even the preparation for the establishment of the Lord’s Table teaches us the virtues we need to have in our lives as people known by the name of the Lord, as the followers of the Lord Jesus. We learn from this section that we, the disciples of the Lord Jesus, need to be those who first practice, and only then preach; humility and service should characterize our lives; and we should be willing and ready to wash the feet of others, as and when it needs to be done.

        If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
