परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 4

 

पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु की तीन परीक्षाओं से, जिनका विवरण मत्ती 4:1-11 और लूका 4:1-13 में दिया गया है, देखा था कि शैतान ने किस तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन का, प्रभु यीशु के विरूद्ध दुरुपयोग करने का प्रयास किया। हमने देखा था कि शैतान ने न तो वचन में कुछ जोड़ा, और न ही उसमें से कुछ घटाया, अर्थात उसने परमेश्वर के वचन के लिखित स्वरूप में कोई फेर-बदल नहीं किया; बल्कि उसे प्रभु यीशु के सामने ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्रायों के साथ रखा, जो वचन में उन लेखों के लिए उपयोग नहीं किए गए थे। शैतान के द्वारा बाइबल के लेख का बाइबल से बाहर के अभिप्राय के लिए उपयोग करना, उस वचन का दुरुपयोग करना ठहरा। आज भी शैतान इसी युक्ति का प्रयोग परमेश्वर के लोगों में होकर करता है, उन भक्त लोगों के द्वारा, अनजाने में ही बाइबल के लेखों का बाइबल के बाहर के अभिप्रायों के साथ, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपनी भक्ति, अपने प्रेम और श्रद्धा को व्यक्त करने वाले वाक्यांशों और शब्दों के रूप में उपयोग करवाता है। ऐसा करने के द्वारा, बिना शैतान की युक्ति को समझे, अनजाने में ही प्रभु के ये भक्त लोग, परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग करने लगते हैं, उसे भ्रष्ट कर देते हैं और परमेश्वर का नहीं वरन मनुष्य का वचन बना देते हैं। आज हम बाइबल के इसी तथ्य का एक और स्वरूप देखेंगे, पुराने नियम के एक उदाहरण के द्वारा; और फिर इसके आगे के लेखों में हम अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के वचन का योग्य भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह न करने की इस गंभीर परन्तु अनजानी गलती के कुछ अन्य उदाहरण भी देखेंगे।

    परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और उसका दुरुपयोग करने का एक अन्य तरीका पुराने नियम में देखने को मिलता है, अय्यूब तथा उसके के मित्रों के उदाहरण में। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, घटनाक्रम इस प्रकार से है: अय्यूब, अपने समय में पृथ्वी के सभी मनुष्यों की तुलना में एक अनुपम धार्मिक व्यक्ति था, और परमेश्वर ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि की थी कि वह अपने समय के सभी मनुष्यों से बढ़कर खरा और सीधा था (अय्यूब 1:1, 8; 2:3)। परमेश्वर ने शैतान को अनुमति दे दी कि वह अय्यूब और परमेश्वर के प्रति उसकी प्रतिबद्धता की परीक्षा कर ले; और यह करने के लिए शैतान ने अय्यूब के पास जो कुछ भी था, उसका परिवार, उसकी धन-संपत्ति, यहाँ तक कि उसका स्वास्थ्य, सभी को नष्ट कर डाला। किन्तु फिर भी अय्यूब परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध बना रहा (अय्यूब 2:9-10)। पुस्तक के आगे के अध्यायों में हम देखते हैं कि अय्यूब अपने कष्ट उठाने के लिए शिकायत तो करता है, और जानना चाहता है कि परमेश्वर ने क्यों उसके साथ यह अन्याय किया है, किन्तु उसने परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कभी कुछ नहीं बोला (अय्यूब 7:19-21; 13:3; 16:11-14; 19:6-11; इत्यादि)।

 

अय्यूब की दशा के बारे में जानकारी मिलने पर उसके मित्र उसे सान्त्वना देने के लिए आते हैं। किन्तु, अय्यूब के साथ होने वाली चर्चा में, वे बारंबार उसे कुछ गलत करने, कोई पाप करने का दोषी ठहराने का प्रयास करते रहते हैं, जिसके कारण परमेश्वर उसे इस प्रकार से दण्ड दे रहा है। उन्होंने परमेश्वर को सही और अय्यूब ही को उसकी इस दशा के लिए ज़िम्मेदार ठहराया। पुस्तक के अंत में हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अय्यूब से बातें करता है, और अय्यूब को अपनी सामर्थ्य और महिमा के बारे में स्मरण करवाता है। परमेश्वर से सामना होने पर अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक, पापमय दशा का एहसास होता है, और वह तुरन्त पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर से क्षमा याचना करता है (अय्यूब 40:3-5; 42:1-6)। लेकिन इसके बाद जो होता है, वह बहुत रोचक, और हमारी वर्तमान चर्चा के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भी है।

    परमेश्वर अय्यूब 42:7-9 में कहता है, “और ऐसा हुआ कि जब यहोवा ये बातें अय्यूब से कह चुका, तब उसने तेमानी एलीपज से कहा, मेरा क्रोध तेरे और तेरे दोनों मित्रों पर भड़का है, क्योंकि जैसी ठीक बात मेरे दास अय्यूब ने मेरे विषय कही है, वैसी तुम लोगों ने नहीं कही। इसलिये अब तुम सात बैल और सात मेढ़े छांट कर मेरे दास अय्यूब के पास जा कर अपने निमित्त होमबलि चढ़ाओ, तब मेरा दास अय्यूब तुम्हारे लिये प्रार्थना करेगा, क्योंकि उसी की मैं ग्रहण करूंगा; और नहीं, तो मैं तुम से तुम्हारी मूढ़ता के योग्य बर्ताव करूंगा, क्योंकि तुम लोगों ने मेरे विषय मेरे दास अय्यूब की सी ठीक बात नहीं कही। यह सुन तेमानी एलीपज, शूही बिल्दद और नामाती सोपर ने जा कर यहोवा की आाज्ञा के अनुसार किया, और यहोवा ने अय्यूब की प्रार्थना ग्रहण की।” यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के सामने प्रश्न उठा रहा था, कह रहा था कि उसके साथ अन्याय हो रहा है, परमेश्वर से स्पष्टीकरण माँग रहा था; लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने अय्यूब की बातों को गलत और परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध नहीं माना। किन्तु दूसरी ओर, अय्यूब के तीन मित्रों, एलीपज, बिल्दद और सोपर के लिए परमेश्वर कहता है कि उन्होंने परमेश्वर के बारे में सही बात नहीं कही है और इसलिए वह उनसे क्रोधित है। परमेश्वर उन से कहता है कि वे अय्यूब से कहें कि उनके लिए प्रार्थना करे, अन्यथा उन्हें परमेश्वर के बारे में गलत कहने के दुष्परिणामों को झेलना होगा। उनके पक्ष में की गई अय्यूब की प्रार्थना के बाद परमेश्वर उन्हें क्षमा कर देता है, और अय्यूब की सारी हानि की भी भरपाई कर देता है।

    यद्यपि इस पूरी पुस्तक में इन तीनों ने परमेश्वर के पक्ष में, और अपने मित्र अय्यूब के विरुद्ध होकर बात की है, किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर उनके कहे को स्वीकार नहीं करता है, उनके तर्कों को “परमेश्वर के बारे में ठीक बात” नहीं, बल्कि “मूढ़ता” मानता है। दूसरी और यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करता है, धर्मी होने के बावजूद उसे दुःख दिए जाने के अन्याय के लिए स्पष्टीकरण माँगता है, लेकिन परमेश्वर उस पर क्रोधित नहीं होता है। अपने वर्तमान विषय के लिए इस सब से हम क्या शिक्षा लेते हैं? महत्व, परमेश्वर के पक्ष में बोलने, अथवा परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करने का नहीं है; महत्व इस बात का है कि जो भी कहा जाए वह सत्य ही होना चाहिए, कोई मन-गढ़ंत बात नहीं। चाहे बात परमेश्वर के पक्ष में ही क्यों न बोली जाए, किन्तु यदि जो बोला गया है वह परमेश्वर के गुणों और चरित्र, उसके वचन, और परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में जो प्रकट किया है, उसके अनुसार, उसके अनुरूप नहीं है, तो न तो परमेश्वर उसे स्वीकार करेगा, और न ही उसके लिए किसी को कोई प्रतिफल देगा। बल्कि, जो बातें परमेश्वर के पक्ष में भी बोली गई, प्रचार की गई, सिखाई गई हैं, वे यदि उसके अनुरूप नहीं हैं जो परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में अपने वचन में लिखवा दिया है, तो परमेश्वर उन्हें उसके बारे में कही गई ठीक बात नहीं बल्कि मूढ़ता की बात मानता है; और ऐसी बातें फिर उस से प्रतिफल के नहीं वरन उसके प्रतिशोध के योग्य ठहरती हैं।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word - 4

 

In the previous article we have seen from the example of the three ‘Temptations of Christ’, recorded in Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13, that Satan tried to misuse God’s Word against the Lord Jesus. We saw that Satan did not add to, or, subtract from God’s Word, i.e., he did not alter God’s Word in its textual form; instead, he presented it to the Lord Jesus with meanings and implications that were not associated with it. It was this use of Biblical text in an extra-Biblical way that made it a misuse of God’s Word. Today too, Satan causes God’s people to unknowingly, in their belief of expressing godliness, love, and reverence for God, commit the same error of using Biblical text in an extra-Biblical manner. Thus, the godly and committed people of God, inadvertently, end up misusing God’s Word, corrupting it, turning it into man’s Word, and not God’s any longer. Today we will see another aspect of this Biblical truth, from an Old Testament example; and in the subsequent articles consider some more Biblical affirmations about this very serious, but often unrealized and grossly neglected manner of stewardship of God’s Word.

Another variation of this corruption and misuse of God’s Word is seen in the Old Testament, in the example of Job and his friends. Very briefly stated, Job was a uniquely righteous man amongst those on earth at the time he lived, and even God vouched for his being upright and righteous than anyone else at that time (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3). God allowed Satan to test Job and his commitment to God by permitting Satan to destroy everything Job had, his family, wealth, possessions, and even his health. Through it all Job remained steadfast and committed towards God (Job 2:9-10). We see in the subsequent chapters of the book that although Job did complain about his suffering, wanting to know why God is being unfair with him, Job never spoke against God.

 

On hearing of Job’s condition, four of his friends came to console him. But in their discussions with Job, they repeatedly kept trying to convince him that he must have done something wrong, sinned in some way, and that is why God was punishing him. They tried to justify God and what God had allowed to come upon Job, and blame Job for his condition. At the end of the book, we see that God speaks with Job, and reminds Job of God’s power and Majesty. On being confronted by God, Job realizes his actual condition of sinfulness and he immediately repents, and seeks God’s forgiveness (Job 40:3-5; 42:1-6). But what follows next, is very interesting and of great relevance to our point of discussion here.

God says in Job 42:7-9, “And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has." So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job.” Although Job was questioning God and alleging that he has not been fairly dealt with, wanting an explanation from God about it; yet God did not consider Job’s arguments and statements as wrong and against Him. On the other hand, to three of Job’s friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, God says that they have not spoken what was right about Him and therefore He is offended at them. God tells them to ask Job to pray for them, else they will face His wrath for misrepresenting Him in their words. It is at the intervention of Job in favor of his friends that God forgives them, and restores Job’s losses.

Although, throughout the book of Job, these three have spoken in favor of God and against their friend Job, yet God does not accept what they said. God considers their arguments as not being “what is right about God”, but a “folly.” On the other hand, although Job has his complaints against God, Job demands an explanation for being unjustly treated despite being righteous, yet God does not feel offended with Job. What is the lesson we draw from this for our current topic? It is not speaking for God, or having complaints against Him that matters; whatever it may be, it has to be the truth, and not made-up things. Even if spoken in favor of God, if what is spoken is not according to God’s attributes and characteristics, according to what God has revealed Himself to be, then God will neither accept those words spoken in His favor nor reward anyone for them. Rather, things favorably spoken, preached, and taught about God, but not actually in accordance with what God’s Word says about Him, God considers them as “not spoken of Me what is right” and “folly”, and they invite God’s retribution not rewards for those who do so.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

       पिछले लेख में हमने निर्गमन 12:46 से देखा था कि फसह के लिए बलिदान किए गए मेमने के बारे में दो बातें परमेश्वर ने मना थीं। पहली थी कि मेमने का माँस उस घर से बाहर नहीं जाना है जिस में उसे बलिदान किया गया था; और दूसरी बात थी कि बलि किए हुए मेमने की कोई हड्डी तोड़ी नहीं जानी थी। हमने पहले निर्देश के प्रतीकात्मक अर्थ को देखा था - कि जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ जुड़ गया है, उसे फिर संसार में पाप और साँसारिक व्यवहार के अन्धकार में नहीं जाना है। आज हम वर्जित की गई दूसरी बात - बलि के मेमने की हड्डी न तोड़ने के बारे में देखेंगे।

        निर्गमन 12:46 में जो दूसरी बात वर्जित की गई थी, वह थी बलि के मेमने की हड्डी को तोड़ना। अधिकांश व्याख्याकर्ता इसे यह कहकर समझाते हैं कि क्योंकि बलि के मेमने को फुर्ती से खाने का निर्देश था (12:11), इसलिए उसे खाने वालों के पास उसकी हड्डियों को तोड़कर हड्डियों के अन्दर के गूदे तक पहुँचने का समय नहीं था। उन्हें हड्डियों और न खाए हुए भागों को जला देना था और जैसे ही कूच करने की पुकार आए, तुरंत ही निकल जाने के लिए तैयार रहना था। कारण चाहे जो भी रहा हो, यह परमेश्वर के बलि के मेमने, प्रभु यीशु के लिए एक भविष्यवाणी थी। क्योंकि उस समय की सामान्य रीति के अनुसार, क्रूस पर चढ़ाए गए लोगों की टांगें कुछ समय के बाद तोड़ दी जाती थीं, किन्तु प्रभु यीशु की कोई भी हड्डी नहीं तोड़ी गई। यूहन्ना ने इस बात को मसीहा संबंधी भविष्यवाणी (निर्गमन 12:46, गिनती 9:12; भजन 34:20) की पूर्ति के लिए विशेष रीति से लिखा है (यूहन्ना 19:33, 36)। एक बार फिर हम पवित्र शास्त्र की अद्भुत सच्चाई और खराई को देखते हैं, सदियों के अंतर से कही गई बातें, उनका समय आने पर बिल्कुल सटीक पूरी हुई हैं।

        हम इन बातों से प्रभु भोज के बारे में जो सीखते हैं वह है कि जो भी फसह अथवा प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध, समर्पित जन होना अनिवार्य है, वे लोग जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने अपने मानकों के आधार पर अपने लोग स्वीकार किया है; न कि वे जो यह समझ लेते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर के घराने के हैं, किन्तु वास्तव में हैं नहीं। जो भी परमेश्वर के घराने का जन बन जाता है, उसे फिर अपने आप को संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अलग रखना है, और फिर से संसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीने के लिए संसार में नहीं लौटना है। क्योंकि पवित्र शास्त्र कभी गलत नहीं होता है, बिल्कुल खरा और सही है, इसलिए एक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में उसका प्राथमिक स्थान होना चाहिए (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; 2 तिमुथियुस 3:16-17)।

       अब हम नए नियम की ओर चलेंगे, और देखेंगे कि अब तक जो हमने पुराने नियम से, निर्गमन 12 से देखा और सीखा है वह नए नियम की बातों पर कैसे लागू होता है, कैसे उनके साथ जाता है।  हम देखेंगे कि अभी तक जो निर्गमन 12 से हमने देखा और सीखा है वह केवल मन-गढ़ंत बातें या अटकलें लगाना नहीं है, परंतु परमेश्वर के वचन के ठोस, अपरिवर्तनीय तथ्य हैं; उस वचन के जो कभी नहीं बदलता है, न जिसमें कभी विरोधाभास आता है, यद्यपि उसकी बातें भिन्न सदियों में लिखी गई हों।

        यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

The Passover & The Lord’s Table - Prove & Affirm the Scriptures (2)

 

       In the last article, we had seen from Exodus 12:46, that two things were forbidden to the Israelites regarding the Passover lamb. Firstly, the flesh of the sacrificed lamb was not to be taken out of the household where it had been sacrificed, till morning; and secondly, none of the bones of the sacrificed lamb were to be broken. We have seen the symbolic meaning of the first instruction - he who has been joined to the Lord Jesus, is not to go back into the darkness of the sins and ways of this world. Today we will consider the second forbidden thing - breaking the bones of the sacrificed lamb.

        In Exodus 12:46, the second thing that was forbidden was the breaking of the bones of the sacrificial lamb. Most of the Commentators have explained this on the grounds that since the sacrificial lamb was to be eaten in haste (12:11), therefore, there was no time for those eating it to break the bones to get to the marrow in the bones. They had to burn the bones along with the other un-eaten parts, and be ready to depart as soon as the call to do so came. Whatever be the reason, it was a prophetic statement for the Lord Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb of God, for unlike the common practice of breaking the legs of those crucified, none of the bones of the Lord were broken. John has specifically recorded this (John 19:33, 36) as the fulfillment of the prophecy about the Messiah, stated in the Scriptures (Exodus 12:46, Numbers 9:12; Psalm 34:20). Once again, we see the amazing accuracy of the Scriptures, things stated centuries apart, but accurately fulfilled when their time came.

       What we learn related to the Holy Communion from these is that participating in the Passover and the Holy Communion is only for God’s actual, committed people, whom God has accepted on the basis of His own criteria; and not those who assume themselves to be of the household of God, but actually are not. The person who becomes a part of God’s household, has to remain separate from the world, and not go back to living in a state of compromise with the world and its ways. Since the Scriptures are infallible and accurate; they should have a primary place in the life of a Christian Believer (John 14:21, 23; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

        We will now move to the New Testament, and see how what we have studied and learnt from the Old Testament, from Exodus 12, applies to and is reiterated in the New Testament. We will see that what we have studied so far from Exodus 12, is not mere conjecture and surmising, but incontrovertible, hard facts of God’s Word; The Word that neither changes, nor contradicts itself, though written centuries apart.

       If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

        If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 4

 

    पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु यीशु की तीन परीक्षाओं से, जिनका विवरण मत्ती 4:1-11 और लूका 4:1-13 में दिया गया है, देखा था कि शैतान ने किस तरह से परमेश्वर के वचन का, प्रभु यीशु के विरूद्ध दुरुपयोग करने का प्रयास किया। हमने देखा था कि शैतान ने न तो वचन में कुछ जोड़ा, और न ही उसमें से कुछ घटाया, अर्थात उसने परमेश्वर के वचन के लिखित स्वरूप में कोई फेर-बदल नहीं किया; बल्कि उसे प्रभु यीशु के सामने ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्रायों के साथ रखा, जो वचन में उन लेखों के लिए उपयोग नहीं किए गए थे। शैतान के द्वारा बाइबल के लेख का बाइबल से बाहर के अभिप्राय के लिए उपयोग करना, उस वचन का दुरुपयोग करना ठहरा। आज भी शैतान इसी युक्ति का प्रयोग परमेश्वर के लोगों में होकर करता है, उन भक्त लोगों के द्वारा, अनजाने में ही बाइबल के लेखों का बाइबल के बाहर के अभिप्रायों के साथ, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपनी भक्ति, अपने प्रेम और श्रद्धा को व्यक्त करने वाले वाक्यांशों और शब्दों के रूप में उपयोग करवाता है। ऐसा करने के द्वारा, बिना शैतान की युक्ति को समझे, अनजाने में ही प्रभु के ये भक्त लोग, परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग करने लगते हैं, उसे भ्रष्ट कर देते हैं और परमेश्वर का नहीं वरन मनुष्य का वचन बना देते हैं। आज हम बाइबल के इसी तथ्य का एक और स्वरूप देखेंगे, पुराने नियम के एक उदाहरण के द्वारा; और फिर इसके आगे के लेखों में हम अनजाने में ही परमेश्वर के वचन का योग्य भण्डारी होने की ज़िम्मेदारी का निर्वाह न करने की इस गंभीर गलती के कुछ अन्य उदाहरण भी देखेंगे।

    परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट करने और उसका दुरुपयोग करने का एक अन्य तरीका पुराने नियम में देखने को मिलता है, अय्यूब तथा उसके के मित्रों के उदाहरण में। बहुत ही संक्षेप में, घटनाक्रम इस प्रकार से है: अय्यूब, अपने समय में पृथ्वी के सभी मनुष्यों की तुलना में एक अनुपम धार्मिक व्यक्ति था, और परमेश्वर ने भी इस बात की पुष्टि की थी कि वह अपने समय के सभी मनुष्यों से बढ़कर खरा और सीधा था (अय्यूब 1:1, 8; 2:3)। परमेश्वर ने शैतान को अनुमति दे दी कि वह अय्यूब और परमेश्वर के प्रति उसकी प्रतिबद्धता की परीक्षा कर ले; और यह करने के लिए शैतान ने अय्यूब के पास जो कुछ भी था, उसका परिवार, उसकी धन-संपत्ति, यहाँ तक कि उसका स्वास्थ्य, सभी को नष्ट कर डाला; किन्तु फिर भी अय्यूब परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध बना रहा (अय्यूब 2:9-10)। पुस्तक के आगे के अध्यायों में हम देखते हैं कि अय्यूब अपने कष्ट उठाने के लिए शिकायत तो करता है, और जानना चाहता है कि परमेश्वर ने क्यों उसके साथ यह अन्याय किया है, किन्तु उसने परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध कभी कुछ नहीं बोला (अय्यूब 7:19-21; 13:3; 16:11-14; 19:6-11; इत्यादि)। अय्यूब की दशा के बारे में जानकारी मिलने पर उसके मित्र उसे सान्त्वना देने के लिए आते हैं। किन्तु, अय्यूब के साथ होने वाली चर्चा में, वे बारंबार उसे कुछ गलत करने, कोई पाप करने का दोषी ठहराने का प्रयास करते रहते हैं, जिसके कारण परमेश्वर उसे इस प्रकार से दण्ड दे रहा है। उन्होंने परमेश्वर को सही और अय्यूब ही को उसकी इस दशा के लिए ज़िम्मेदार ठहराया। पुस्तक के अंत में हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर अय्यूब से बातें करता है, और अय्यूब को अपनी सामर्थ्य और महिमा के बारे में स्मरण करवाता है। परमेश्वर से सामना होने पर अय्यूब को अपनी वास्तविक, पापमय दशा का एहसास होता है, और वह तुरन्त पश्चाताप करके परमेश्वर से क्षमा याचना करता है (अय्यूब 40:3-5; 42:1-6)। लेकिन इसके बाद जो होता है, वह बहुत रोचक, और हमारी वर्तमान चर्चा के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भी है।

    परमेश्वर अय्यूब 42:7-9 में कहता है, “और ऐसा हुआ कि जब यहोवा ये बातें अय्यूब से कह चुका, तब उसने तेमानी एलीपज से कहा, मेरा क्रोध तेरे और तेरे दोनों मित्रों पर भड़का है, क्योंकि जैसी ठीक बात मेरे दास अय्यूब ने मेरे विषय कही है, वैसी तुम लोगों ने नहीं कही। इसलिये अब तुम सात बैल और सात मेढ़े छांट कर मेरे दास अय्यूब के पास जा कर अपने निमित्त होमबलि चढ़ाओ, तब मेरा दास अय्यूब तुम्हारे लिये प्रार्थना करेगा, क्योंकि उसी की मैं ग्रहण करूंगा; और नहीं, तो मैं तुम से तुम्हारी मूढ़ता के योग्य बर्ताव करूंगा, क्योंकि तुम लोगों ने मेरे विषय मेरे दास अय्यूब की सी ठीक बात नहीं कही। यह सुन तेमानी एलीपज, शूही बिल्दद और नामाती सोपर ने जा कर यहोवा की आाज्ञा के अनुसार किया, और यहोवा ने अय्यूब की प्रार्थना ग्रहण की।” यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के सामने प्रश्न उठा रहा था, कह रहा था कि उसके साथ अन्याय हो रहा है, परमेश्वर से स्पष्टीकरण माँग रहा था; लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने अय्यूब की बातों को गलत और परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध नहीं माना। किन्तु दूसरी ओर, अय्यूब के तीन मित्रों, एलीपज, बिल्दद और सोपर के लिए परमेश्वर कहता है कि उन्होंने परमेश्वर के बारे में सही बात नहीं कही है और इसलिए वह उनसे क्रोधित है। परमेश्वर उन से कहता है कि वे अय्यूब से कहें कि उनके लिए प्रार्थना करे, अन्यथा उन्हें परमेश्वर के बारे में गलत कहने के दुष्परिणामों को झेलना होगा। उनके पक्ष में की गई अय्यूब की प्रार्थना के बाद परमेश्वर उन्हें क्षमा कर देता है, और अय्यूब की सारी हानि की भी भरपाई कर देता है।

    यद्यपि इस पूरी पुस्तक में इन तीनों ने परमेश्वर के पक्ष में, और अपने मित्र अय्यूब के विरुद्ध होकर बात की है, किन्तु फिर भी परमेश्वर उनके कहे को स्वीकार नहीं करता है, उनके तर्कों को “परमेश्वर के बारे में ठीक बात” नहीं, बल्कि “मूढ़ता” मानता है। दूसरी और यद्यपि अय्यूब परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करता है, धर्मी होने के बावजूद उसे दुःख दिए जाने के लिए स्पष्टीकरण माँगता है, लेकिन परमेश्वर उस पर क्रोधित नहीं होता है। अपने वर्तमान विषय के लिए इस सब से हम क्या शिक्षा लेते हैं? महत्व, परमेश्वर के पक्ष में बोलने अथवा परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शिकायत करने का नहीं है; महत्व इस बात का है कि जो भी कहा जाए वह सत्य ही होना चाहिए, कोई मन-गढ़ंत बात नहीं। चाहे बात परमेश्वर के पक्ष में ही क्यों न बोली जाए, किन्तु यदि जो बोला गया है वह परमेश्वर के गुणों और चरित्र, उसके वचन, और परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में जो प्रकट किया है, उसके अनुसार, उसके अनुरूप नहीं है, तो न तो परमेश्वर उसे स्वीकार करेगा, और न ही उसके लिए किसी को कोई प्रतिफल देगा। बल्कि, जो बातें परमेश्वर के पक्ष में भी बोली गई, प्रचार की गई, सिखाई गई हैं, वे यदि उसके अनुरूप नहीं हैं जो परमेश्वर ने अपने बारे में अपने वचन में लिखवा दिया है, तो परमेश्वर उन्हें उसके बारे में कही गई ठीक बात नहीं बल्कि मूढ़ता की बात मानता है; और ऐसी बातें फिर उस से प्रतिफल के नहीं वरन उसके प्रतिशोध के योग्य ठहरती हैं।

Altering God’s Word – 4

 

    In the previous article we have seen from the example of the three ‘Temptations of Christ’, recorded in Matthew 4:1-11 and Luke 4:1-13, how Satan tried to misuse God’s Word against the Lord Jesus. We saw that Satan did not add to, or, subtract from God’s Word, i.e., he did not alter God’s Word in its textual form; but presented it to the Lord Jesus with meanings and implications that were not associated with it in God’s Word. It was this use of Biblical text in an extra-Biblical way that made it a misuse of God’s Word. Today too, Satan causes God’s people to unknowingly, in their belief of expressing godliness, love, and reverence for God, commit the same error of using Biblical text in an extra-Biblical manner. Thus, without understanding the satanic ploy, these godly people of the Lord, inadvertently, misuse God’s Word, corrupting it, turning it into man’s Word, and not God’s any longer. Today we will see another aspect of this Biblical truth, from an Old Testament example; and in the subsequent articles consider some more Biblical affirmations about this very serious, but often unrealized and grossly neglected manner of stewardship of God’s Word.

    Another variation of this corruption and misuse of God’s Word is seen in the Old Testament, in the example of Job and his friends. Very briefly stated, the overall scenario is: Job was a uniquely righteous man amongst those on earth at the time he lived, and even God vouched for his being upright and righteous than anyone else at that time (Job 1:1, 8; 2:3). God allowed Satan to test Job and his commitment to God by permitting Satan to destroy everything Job had, his family, wealth, possessions, and even his health; but through it all Job remained steadfast and committed towards God (Job 2:9-10). We see in the subsequent chapters of the book that although Job did complain about his suffering, wanting to know why God is being unfair with him, but Job never spoke against God (Job 7:19-21; 13:3; 16:11-14; 19:6-11; etc.). On hearing of Job’s condition, his friends came to console him. But in their discussions with Job, they repeatedly kept trying to convince him that he must have done something wrong, sinned in some way, and that is why God was punishing him. They tried to justify God and what God had allowed to come upon Job, and blame Job for his condition. At the end of the book, we see that God speaks with Job, and reminds Job of God’s power and Majesty. On being confronted by God and His Majesty, Job realizes his actual condition of sinfulness and he immediately repents, and seeks God’s forgiveness (Job 40:3-5; 42:1-6). But what follows next, is very interesting and of great relevance to our point of discussion here.

    God says in Job 42:7-9, “And so it was, after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, "My wrath is aroused against you and your two friends, for you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has. Now therefore, take for yourselves seven bulls and seven rams, go to My servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and My servant Job shall pray for you. For I will accept him, lest I deal with you according to your folly; because you have not spoken of Me what is right, as My servant Job has." So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went and did as the Lord commanded them; for the Lord had accepted Job.” Although Job was questioning God and alleging that he has not been fairly dealt with, wanting an explanation from God about it; yet God did not consider Job’s arguments and statements as against wrong and against Him. On the other hand, to three of Job’s friends, Eliphaz, Bildad, and Zophar, God says that they have not spoken what was right about Him and therefore He is offended at them. God tells them to ask Job to pray for them, else they will face His wrath for misrepresenting Him in their words. It is at the intervention of Job in favor of his friends that God forgives them, and restores Job’s losses.

    Although throughout the book of Job, these three have spoken in favor of God and against their friend Job, yet God does not accept what they said, considers their arguments as not being “what is right about God”, but a “folly.” On the other hand, although Job has his complaints against God, yet God does not feel offended at Job wanting an explanation from Him for his sufferings despite being righteous. What is the lesson we draw from this for our current topic? It is not speaking for God or having complaints against Him that matters; whatever it may be, it has to be the truth, and not made-up things. Even if spoken in favor of God, if what is spoken is not according to God’s Word, God’s attributes and characteristics, according to what God has revealed Himself to be, then God will neither accept those words spoken in His favor nor reward anyone for them. Rather, things favorably spoken, preached, and taught about God, but not actually in accordance with what God’s Word says about Him, God considers them as “not spoken of Me what is right” and “folly”, and they invite God’s retribution not rewards for those who do so.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

हम निर्गमन 12 अध्याय और उसमें दिए गए प्रभु भोज के प्ररूप, फसह, से संबंधित शिक्षाओं के अंत पर आ गए हैं। आज हम इस अध्याय से एक और पद को देखेंगे, जो एक बार फिर उन बातों की जो हम फसह तथा प्रभु भोज के बारे में सीखते आ रहे हैं, पुनः पुष्टि करता है। यह है पद 46, जो बलिदान के मेमने के साथ दो बातें करना वर्जित करता है - पहले तो उसके माँस को उस घर के बाहर ले जाना जहां पर उसे बलि किया गया था, और दूसरे यह कि मेमने की कोई भी हड्डी न तोड़ी जाए। जब हम इस पद को उसके संदर्भ में उससे पहले के पदों के साथ देखते हैं, तो हम पाते हैं कि घर के दासों, मजदूरों, और किसी परदेशी को फसह में भाग लेना मना था, जब तक कि वे पहले अब्राहम के साथ बाँधी गई परमेश्वर की वाचा के अधीन आकर खतना नहीं करवा लेते, जैसा कि हम पिछले लेख में देख चुके हैं। सामान्य रीति से, उस समय में, घर के दास अथवा मज़दूर “परिवार” के सदस्य समझे जाते थे, यद्यपि उनके वे अधिकार और विशेषाधिकार नहीं होते थे जो परिवार में जन्म लेने वाली संतान के होते थे। ऐसे “सदस्यों” को फसह में भाग लेने से मना करने का अभिप्राय यही है कि जो कोई ऊपरी तौर पर या परिस्थिति के अनुसार “परिवार” से जुड़ा है, किन्तु वास्तव में और घनिष्ठता से परिवार का अंग नहीं है, उन्हें परिवार के समान फसह खाने का अधिकार नहीं है। इससे, हम प्रभु भोज के बारे में एक बार फिर यह सीख सकते हैं, जिसे हम पहले भी देखते और कहते चले आ रहे हैं, कि प्रभु यीशु के साथ एक औपचारिक या ऊपरी रीति से संबंध रखने वालों को, अर्थात, उन्हें जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के साथ एक प्रतिबद्धता, समर्पण के व्यक्तिगत संबंध में नहीं आए हैं, किन्तु उसके साथ केवल अपने डिनॉमिनेशन की कुछ रीतियों और प्रथाओं के द्वारा, धर्म संबंधी औपचारिकताओं और निर्देशों को निभाने के द्वारा जुड़े हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर अपने वचन के द्वारा प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के लिए अनुमति नहीं देता है। फसह और प्रभु की मेज़ उन्हीं के लिए है जो वास्तव में प्रभु के लोग हैं, उनके लिए जिन्हें कोई मनुष्य नहीं, वरन स्वयं परमेश्वर अपने मानकों के आधार पर, अपने लोग स्वीकार करता है।

 

पद 46 पर आते हैं, पद का आरंभ इस निर्देश के साथ होता है कि जो मेमना जिस घर के लिए बलिदान किया गया, उसका खाना भी उसी घर ही में हो। इसके बाद निर्देश दिए गए हैं कि उसके माँस को बाहर न ले जाया जाए। इससे पहले, पद 21-24 में, परमेश्वर यहोवा ने इस्राएलियों को यह निर्देश दिया था कि मेमने को बलिदान करने और उसके लहू को दरवाजों के अलंगों और चौखटों पर लगाने के बाद, उस घर से कोई भी फिर प्रातः होने तक घर से बाहर न निकले (पद 22)। बाहर, अंधकार में मारने वाला अपना काम कर रहा होगा, जितने घरों पर बलि किए हुए मेमने का लहू नहीं लगा होगा उनके पहिलौठों को मार रहा होगा। पद 46 इसमें यह भी जोड़ देता है कि मेमने का माँस भी उस घर से बाहर नहीं जाना था। प्रतीक के रूप में, इस निर्देश का नए नियम में तात्पर्य है कि वह व्यक्ति जो एक बार परमेश्वर के घराने में आ गया है, उसे फिर अपने साथ प्रभु यीशु मसीह को लिए हुए, लौट कर संसार में, पाप के अंधकार में नहीं जाना है। प्रेरित पौलुस ने, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखते हुए  गलातिया के मसीही विश्वासियों को डाँट लगाते हुए लिखा (गलातियों 4:7-11), कि अब ‘दास’ से उठाकर ‘पुत्र’ का दर्जा दिए जाने के बाद, अर्थात, अब परमेश्वर के परिवार के पूर्ण सदस्य बन जाने के बाद “उन निर्बल और निकम्मी आदि-शिक्षा की बातों की ओर क्यों फिरते हो, जिन के तुम दोबारा दास होना चाहते हो?” (पद 4:9), क्योंकि इस प्रकार से वे लोग प्रभु यीशु के कार्य और पौलुस के परिश्रम को व्यर्थ करते हैं। इसी प्रकार से कुलुस्सियों को लिखी पत्री के 2 अध्याय में पौलुस उन से कहता है कि वे मसीह में परिपूर्ण कर दिए गए हैं, क्रूस पर उसके बलिदान के द्वारा, और अब किसी भी व्यवस्था या मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए किसी भी विधि-विधान की अधीनता में नहीं हैं। अब उन्हें केवल मसीह में बने रहना और उसी में बढ़ते जाना है, बजाए वापस मुड़कर संसार की बातों में जाने के, जिनमें “गढ़ी हुई भक्ति की रीति, और दीनता, और शारीरिक योगाभ्यास के भाव से ज्ञान का नाम तो है, परन्तु शारीरिक लालसाओं को रोकने में इन से कुछ भी लाभ नहीं होता” (पद 2:23)। फसह के निर्देश, नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासियों से की गई आशा और उनके लिए दिए जाने वाले निर्देशों का पूर्वाभास हैं।

 

निर्गमन 12:46 में जो दूसरी बात वर्जित की गई थी, वह थी बलि के मेमने की हड्डी को तोड़ना। अधिकांश व्याख्याकर्ता इसे यह कहकर समझाते हैं कि क्योंकि बलि के मेमने को फुर्ती से खाने का निर्देश था (12:11), इसलिए उसे खाने वालों के पास उसकी हड्डियों को तोड़कर हड्डियों के अन्दर के गूदे तक पहुँचने का समय नहीं था। उन्हें हड्डियों और न खाए हुए भागों को जला देना था और जैसे ही आवाज आए, तुरंत ही निकल जाने के लिए तैयार रहना था। कारण चाहे जो भी रहा हो, यह परमेश्वर के बलि के मेमने, प्रभु यीशु के लिए एक भविष्यवाणी थी। क्योंकि उस समय की सामान्य रीति के अनुसार, क्रूस पर चढ़ाए गए लोगों की टांगें कुछ समय के बाद तोड़ दी जाती थीं, किन्तु प्रभु यीशु की कोई भी हड्डी नहीं तोड़ी गई। यूहन्ना ने इस बात को मसीहा संबंधी भविष्यवाणी (निर्गमन 12:46, गिनती 9:12; भजन 34:20) की पूर्ति के लिए विशेष रीति से लिखा है (यूहन्ना 19:33, 36)। एक बार फिर हम पवित्र शास्त्र की अद्भुत सच्चाई और खराई को देखते हैं, सदियों के अंतर से कही गई बातें, उनका समय आने पर बिल्कुल सटीक पूरी हुई हैं।

हम इन बातों से प्रभु भोज के बारे में जो सीखते हैं वह है कि जो भी फसह अथवा प्रभु भोज में भाग लेते हैं, उन्हें परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध, समर्पित जन होना अनिवार्य है, वे लोग जिन्हें परमेश्वर ने अपने मानकों के आधार पर अपने लोग स्वीकार किया है; न कि वे जो यह समझ लेते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर के घराने के हैं, किन्तु वास्तव में हैं नहीं। जो भी परमेश्वर के घराने का जन बन जाता है, उसे फिर अपने आप को संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अलग रखना है, और फिर से संसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीने के लिए संसार में नहीं लौटना है। क्योंकि पवित्र शास्त्र कभी गलत नहीं होता है, बिल्कुल खरा और सही है, इसलिए एक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में उसका प्राथमिक स्थान होना चाहिए (यूहन्ना 14:21, 23; 2 तिमुथियुस 3:16-17)।

अब हम नए नियम की ओर चलेंगे, और देखेंगे कि अब तक जो हमने पुराने नियम से, निर्गमन 12 से देखा और सीखा है वह नए नियम की बातों पर कैसे लागू होता है, कैसे उनके साथ जाता है।  हम देखेंगे कि अभी तक जो निर्गमन 12 से हमने देखा और सीखा है वह केवल मन-गढ़ंत बातें या अटकलें लगाना नहीं है, परंतु परमेश्वर के वचन के ठोस, अपरिवर्तनीय तथ्य हैं; उस वचन के जो कभी नहीं बदलता है, न जिसमें कभी विरोधाभास आता है, यद्यपि उसकी बातें भिन्न सदियों में लिखी गई हों।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

The Passover & The Lord’s Table - Prove & Affirm the Scriptures 

  

  As we draw to the end of Exodus 12 and its teachings related to the Passover, the antecedent of the Holy Communion, we will look at one more verse from this chapter, that again reaffirms what we have been seeing and learning about the Passover and through it about the Holy Communion. This is verse 46, that forbids doing two things to the sacrificial lamb - one is carrying its flesh outside the house where it had been sacrificed, and the second being breaking any of the bones of that lamb. When we see this verse in its context of the preceding verses, we see that servants of the house, whether bought or hired, and any sojourner, i.e., a person passing through the area, and not a member of the family, were forbidden from partaking the Passover, unless and until they came under God’s covenant with Abraham, and were circumcised, as we have seen in the last article. Generally speaking, at that time, the servants of the household were considered as part of the family, although not with the same rights and privileges as one born into the family. The forbidding of these “members” of the family indicates that those who were casually or circumstantially part of the household, but were actually not an intimate part of the family, they too had no right to partake of the Passover. From this, for the Holy Communion, we can once again infer, what we have been seeing and saying all along, that no one casually associated with the Lord Jesus, i.e., one who has not come into a committed and a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus, but is associated with Him only because of having gone through some denominational rites and rituals, through some religious formalities and procedures, is not permitted by the Lord God through His Word to participate in the Lord’s Table. The Passover, and the Lord’s Table are only for the actual people of God, those whom not any man, but God accepts as His own, based on His criteria.

Coming to verse 46, the verse starts with the instruction that the lamb, sacrificed for one household (12:3-4), has to be eaten within that household. It is followed up with the instruction of not carrying its flesh outside. Earlier, in verses 21-24, the Lord God had instructed the Israelites that after sacrificing the lamb and applying its blood to the door-posts and lintels of the house, no one from the household was to go out till the morning (v. 22); outside, in the darkness the “destroyer” would be at work, bringing death to the firstborns in the houses not covered with the blood of the sacrificial lamb. Verse 46 adds to this that the flesh of the lamb was not to be taken out of the house. Symbolically, the New Testament application of this instruction indicates that the person who has come into the household of God, is not to go out back into the world, into the darkness of sin, carrying the Lord Jesus there with Him. The Apostle Paul, writing through the holy Spirit of God admonishes the Galatian Believers, in Galatians 4:7-11, that having been elevated from being a ‘slave’ to being a ‘son, i.e., having become a full-fledged member of God’s household, why were they turning back to the “weak and beggarly elements, to which you desire again to be in bondage?” (4:9),  thereby rendering vain the work of the Lord Jesus and the labor of Paul amongst them. Similarly, writing to the Colossian Believers, Paul says to them in Colossians chapter 2 that they have been made complete in Christ, through His sacrifice on the Cross, and are no longer under any law or man-made ordinance. Now, all they have to do is remain in Christ and grow in Him, instead of turning back again to the ways of the world, which “have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh” (2:23). The instructions of the Passover foreshadow the expectations and instructions for the Born-Again Christian Believers.

In Exodus 12:46, the second thing that was forbidden was the breaking of the bones of the sacrificial lamb. Most of the Commentators have explained this on the grounds that since the sacrificial lamb was to be eaten in haste (12:11), therefore, there was no time for those eating it to break the bones to get to the marrow in the bones. They had to burn the bones along with the other un-eaten parts, and be ready to depart as soon as the call to do so came. Whatever be the reason, it was a prophetic statement for the Lord Jesus, the sacrificial Lamb of God, for unlike the common practice of breaking the legs of those crucified, none of the bones of the Lord were broken. John has specifically recorded this (John 19:33, 36) as the fulfillment of the prophesy about the Messiah, stated in the Scriptures (Exodus 12:46, Numbers 9:12; Psalm 34:20). Once again, we see the amazing accuracy of the Scriptures, things stated centuries apart, but accurately fulfilled when their time came.

What we learn related to the Holy Communion from these is that participating in the Passover and the Holy Communion is only for God’s actual, committed people, whom God has accepted on the basis of His own criteria; and not those who assume themselves to be of the household of God, but actually are not. The person who becomes a part of God’s household, has to remain separate from the world, and not go back to living in a state of compromise with the world and its ways. Since the Scriptures are infallible and accurate; they should have a primary place in the life of a Christian Believer (John 14:21, 23; 2 Timothy 3:16-17).

 

We will now move to the New Testament, and see how what we have studied and learnt from the Old Testament, from Exodus 12, applies to and is reiterated in the New Testament. We will see that what we have studied so far from Exodus 12, is not mere conjecture and surmising, but incontrovertible, hard facts of God’s Word; The Word that neither changes, nor contradicts itself, though written centuries apart.

If you are a Christian Believer, and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
