परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के, जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के प्रत्येक शिष्य को दिया गया है, एक भले भण्डारी होने के बारे में अध्ययन करते हुए, हमने देखा है कि पवित्र आत्मा हमारा सहायक या साथी होने के लिए हमें दिया गया है, कि वह परमेश्वर द्वारा हमें सौंपे गए कार्यों और जिम्मेदारियों को करने में हमारी सहायता करे। किन्तु कुछ मसीही विश्वासी उसे अपने स्थान पर काम करने वाले सेवक के समान उपयोग करना चाहते हैं। वे चाहते हैं कि परमेश्वर उनके लिए वह कर दे जिसे करने में वे अपने आप को असमर्थ पाते हैं। लेकिन यह एक गलत धारणा है, जिसका बाइबल से कोई समर्थन नहीं है। इस धारणा के गलत होने के कारणों को हम देख चुके हैं; यह गलत है क्योंकि:

• जीवन और भक्ति से सम्बन्धित प्रत्येक बात परमेश्वर ने हर एक मसीही विश्वासी को उपलब्ध करवा रखी है; इसलिए, ऐसा कोई कारण नहीं है कि कोई विश्वासी यह कह सके कि अपने कार्यों और जिम्मेदारियों के लिए उनके पास उपयुक्त संसाधन उपलब्ध नहीं हैं।

• परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को कभी भी विश्वासियों के स्थान पर उनका कार्य कर के देने के लिए नहीं दिया गया है; और बाइबल में इसका कोई उदाहरण भी नहीं है। उन्हें दिया गया है ताकि वे विश्वासियों के शिक्षक हों, परमेश्वर द्वारा विश्वासियों को उपलब्ध करवाए गए संसाधनों का उपयोग करने में मार्गदर्शन और सहायता करें, जिस से कि विश्वासी अपनी जिम्मेदारियों का निर्वाह कर सके; परमेश्वर को महिमा देने वाला गवाही का जीवन जी सके; न कि विश्वासी के स्थान पर उसका काम कर के देने के लिए।

• परमेश्वर जब अपने बच्चों से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो वह उस व्यक्ति की क्षमताओं और योग्यताओं को भली-भांति जानता है। और परमेश्वर कभी किसी से ऐसा कुछ भी करने के लिए नहीं कहेगा, जिस के लिए उसने उस व्यक्ति को आवश्यक बातें उपलब्ध नहीं करवाई हैं। साथ ही, विश्वासी में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा उस कार्य को करने में उसकी सहायता करने के लिए, उसका मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए, परमेश्वर के संसाधनों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए हमेशा उपलब्ध रहता है। इसलिए किसी का भी यह कहना कि वह अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह और भक्ति का जीवन जीने में अक्षम है, यही दिखाता है कि या तो वह अपने संसाधनों का उपयोग नहीं कर रहा है, या, पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन नहीं कर रहा है, अथवा ये दोनों ही गलतियाँ कर रहा है।

• जैसा हमने पिछले दो लेखों में देखा है, जब कोई विश्वासी किसी परिस्थिति पर विजयी होने नहीं पाता है, या फिर बारम्बार किसी पाप या ऐसी गलती में गिरता रहता है, जिसके कारण वह अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी को पूरा नहीं करने पाता है, तो उसकी इस असफलता का कारण उसी में ही विद्यमान होता है। बहुत संभव है कि यह सँसार के साथ उसके किसी प्रकार का समझौते का जीवन जीने के कारण है, जहाँ वह सँसार की किसी बात का भी आनन्द लेते रहना चाहता है और साथ ही भक्ति का जीवन भी जीना चाहता है। लेकिन यह तो हो नहीं सकता है, और इसीलिए वह एक हारा हुआ जीवन जीता है, क्योंकि सँसार के साथ समझौता परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को भी उस में और उसके द्वारा कार्य करने से रोकता है। 

इस सन्दर्भ में, आज हम देखेंगे कि कैसे परमेश्वर के लोग बहुधा परमेश्वर के वचन के कुछ भागों की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, इस धारणा के अन्तर्गत, और यह कहने के लिए कि कुछ ऐसी बातें भी लिखी गई हैं जो मनुष्य के करने के लिए असंभव हैं; इसलिए उन्हें आलंकारिक रीति से लेना चाहिए न कि शब्दार्थ में। वे यह अपनी असफलताओं को वैध ठहराने के लिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपे गए कार्य एवं जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा न करने पाने का ‘उचित’ कारण दिखाने के लिए करते हैं। उनके तर्क के मिथ्या होने को दिखाने के लिए हम मसीही विश्वासी के एक गुण, पवित्रता, को लेंगे; क्योंकि पवित्रता न केवल मसीही जीवन का एक आधारभूत सिद्धान्त है, किन्तु साथ ही यह भी माना जाता है कि यह मनुष्य द्वारा प्राप्त किए जाने और फिर बनाए रखने के लिए असंभव है। यह और भी असंभव इस से हो जाता है कि बाइबल कहती है कि ऐसा कोई नहीं है जो पाप नहीं करता और जितनी बार वह पाप करता है, उतनी बार फिर से बहाल होने के लिए उसे पश्चाताप करने तथा क्षमा मांगने की आवश्यकता होती है (1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10); तो फिर कोई भी मनुष्य पवित्र कैसे हो सकता है तथा बना रह सकता है?

लेकिन साथ ही बाइबल का यह तथ्य भी है कि परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि बिना पवित्रता के कोई भी प्रभु को नहीं देख सकता है (इब्रानियों 12:14); साथ ही पवित्र होना विश्वासियों के लिए अनिवार्य इसलिए भी हो जाता है क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने अपने बच्चों को पवित्र होने की आज्ञा दी है, “पर जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, वैसे ही तुम भी अपने सारे चाल चलन में पवित्र बनो। क्योंकि लिखा है, कि पवित्र बनो, क्योंकि मैं पवित्र हूं” (1 पतरस 1:15-16)। अब, क्योंकि पाप और पवित्रता एक साथ नहीं हो सकती हैं, तो फिर मनुष्य की पाप करते रहने की प्रवृत्ति और परमेश्वर की उसके पवित्र होने की माँग के मध्य सामंजस्य कैसे बैठाया जा सकता है - यह एक ऐसी स्थिति है जिसके साथ प्रेरित पौलुस भी संघर्ष करता रहता था (रोमियों 7:15-24; यहाँ पर पौलुस द्वारा वर्तमान जारी काल (present continuous tense) का प्रयोग करने पर विशेष ध्यान दीजिए)? क्या परमेश्वर जानबूझकर मनुष्य से असंभव की माँग कर रहा है? या, क्या यहाँ पर परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई विरोधाभास है जो विश्वासी को एक असंभव स्थिति में डाल देता है?

जैसा कि हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे, यहाँ पर, परमेश्वर के वचन और उसकी आज्ञाओं के मध्य कोई परस्पर विरोधाभास की स्थिति नहीं है। समस्या जो प्रतीत होती है, वह परमेश्वर के वचन की बातों की एक गलत समझ और गलत व्याख्या के कारण है, और जब उसे बाइबल के अनुसार सही दृष्टिकोण से देखा जाता है, तो इसका समाधान भी हो जाता है।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

In our study on being a good steward of God the Holy Spirit, given to every disciple of the Lord Jesus, we have seen that the Holy Spirit is meant to be our Helper or Companion, to help us in our God assigned tasks and ministry. But some Christian Believers have tried to use Him as their substitute, wanting God to do for them what they consider themselves incapable of doing. But this is a wrong concept that has no Biblical support. We have seen the reasons for this to be false, because: 

• God has made available everything a Christian Believer needs for life and godliness; so, there is no way any Believer can say that they do not have the necessary resources to carry out his God assigned tasks and fulfil his responsibilities. 

• The Holy Spirit was never meant to do the Believer’s tasks for them; and there is no example in the Bible of this happening. He has been given to be the Believer’s teacher, guide the Believers, to help them use their God given resources to fulfil their responsibilities; to help them live a witnessing life that glorifies God; but not to be their replacement. 

• When God asks His children to do something, He well knows the capabilities of the person that He has asked to do the thing. And God will never ask anyone to do anything that He has not already equipped him to do. Moreover, the Holy Spirit residing in the Believer is always there to guide and help him through in doing that task, utilizing God’s resources. Therefore, for someone to claim that he is incapable of fulfilling his responsibilities and of living a life of godliness, implies that either he is not using his resources, or, not obeying the instructions of God the Holy Spirit, or, committing both these mistakes.

• As we have seen in the previous two articles, when some Believers find themselves unable to get over a situation, or they repeatedly keep falling for some sin or short-coming that keeps them from fulfilling their responsibility, then, the reason for this failure is within themselves. Quite possibly it is in their living a life of some kind of compromise, where they want to enjoy something of the world as well as live a godly life. But this does not work, and they live a defeated life since compromise with the world also prevents God’s power from working in and through them.

In this context, today we will see how God’s people often misinterpret certain portions of God’s Word under a particular notion, and say that some things that are impossible for men to do have been stated; and these should be taken figuratively, and not literally. They do this to try to justify their failures, and their claim of being incapable of fulfilling their God assigned tasks and responsibilities. To illustrate the fallacy of their argument, we will use an attribute of a Christian Believer’s life, ‘Holiness’; since holiness is not only a fundamental characteristic of Christian life, and is also often assumed to be impossible for man to achieve and maintain. More so, as the Bible says, there is no one who does not sin and does not need to repent and ask forgiveness to be restored, every time he sins (1 John 1:8-10), so how can any man be holy or remain holy?

But it is also a Biblical fact that God says without holiness no one can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14); being holy becomes imperative for the Believers since God has commanded His children to be holy, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:15-16). So, since sin and holiness cannot co-exist, how then does one reconcile between God’s demand of being holy, and man’s tendency to keep sinning - something that even the Apostle Paul continually struggled with (Romans 7:15-24 - take note of the present continuous tense that Paul uses)? Is God deliberately asking the impossible from man? Or, is there a contradiction here in God’s Word, that places a Believer in an impossible situation?

As we will see in the next article, there is no mutual contradiction in these portions of God’s Word and His commands. The problem is a misunderstanding and misinterpretation of God’s Word and is readily resolved when it is interpreted in context, with the correct understanding and proper Biblical perspective.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 1 - वचन (2) 

परमेश्वर के वचन के द्वारा बढ़ोतरी विषय पर इस श्रृंखला में, अब हम तीसरी श्रेणी की बाइबल शिक्षाओं को देख रहे हैं, अर्थात उन शिक्षाओं को जो व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित हैं। हम कह चके हैं कि इसके लिए हम प्रेरितों के काम पुस्तक के अध्याय 2 और 15 में दी गई शिक्षाओं पर ध्यान केंद्रित करेंगे। हम प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय से देख चुके हैं कि मसीही बढ़ोतरी के लिए सात बातें अनिवार्य हैं। पहली तीन, पश्चाताप, बपतिस्मा, और अलगाव, प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य बनने के आरम्भिक कदम हैं। ये तीनों सभी के लिए अनिवार्य हैं, उनकी सामाजिक, धार्मिक, शैक्षणिक, या आर्थिक स्थिति और पृष्ठभूमि चाहे जो भी हो। यह परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है कि सभी को पश्चाताप करना ही है, उन्हें भी जो अपने आप को “जन्म से ईसाई या मसीही” मानते हैं। जो वास्तव में पश्चाताप करते हैं, उन्हें अपने इस निर्णय की सार्वजनिक गवाही देने के लिए बपतिस्मा लेना है; और प्रभु के प्रति अपने समर्पण को अपने व्यावहारिक जीवन में संसार और उसके तौर-तरीकों से अलगाव का जीवन जीने के द्वारा दिखाना है। इसके बाद वे चार बातें आती हैं, जिन्हें “मसीही जीवन के स्तम्भ” भी कहा जाता है, जो मसीही विश्वासियों को स्थिरता, सामर्थ्य, और बढ़ोतरी प्रदान करती हैं। ये चार हैं, लौलीन होकर प्रेरितों की शिक्षाएँ अर्थात बाइबल का अध्ययन करना, संगति रखना, रोटी तोड़ना, और प्रार्थना में रहना। पिछले लेख से हमने इन में से पहली बात, परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करना पर विचार करना आरम्भ किया था और स्वयं प्रभु के शब्दों से देखा था कि किसी के भी परमेश्वर से प्रेम करने का एकमात्र ठोस या यथार्थ प्रमाण है, उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन से प्रेम करना। सम्पूर्ण बाइबल में परमेश्वर के प्रति व्यक्ति के प्रेम को परखने का अन्य कोई माप नहीं दिया गया है। आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के कुछ पदों से देखेंगे कि क्यों लोगों को परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करना चाहिए।

बाइबल का अध्ययन क्यों करना चाहिए:

• यह अपने लोगों के लिए परमेश्वर की आज्ञा है: “तू ने अपने उपदेश इसलिये दिए हैं, कि वे यत्न से माने जाएं” (भजन 119:4)। मानने के लिए उन उपदेशों को जानना आवश्यक है; और जानने के लिए उन्हें पढ़ना, और उनका अध्ययन करना आवश्यक है। साथ ही व्यवस्थाविवरण 6:1-9 तथा यहोशू 1:8 भी देखें - इस्राएलियों के कनान में बस जाने के बाद उनकी सुरक्षा और सफलता, उनकी संख्या अथवा सैनिक सामर्थ्य पर निर्भर नहीं थी; वरन यह निर्भर इस बात पर थी कि वे कितने यत्न से परमेश्वर के वचनों का पालन करते हैं। यही बात आज ठीक वैसे ही मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए भी लागू है।

• शिक्षाओं और सिद्धान्तों की वास्तविकता को जानने के लिए: “ये लोग तो थिस्सलुनीके के यहूदियों से भले थे और उन्होंने बड़ी लालसा से वचन ग्रहण किया, और प्रति दिन पवित्र शास्‍त्रों में ढूंढ़ते रहे कि ये बातें यों ही हैं, कि नहीं” (प्रेरितों 17:11)। प्रभु यीशु के द्वारा दिए गए अन्त के दिनों, जिन दिनों में हम आज जी रहे हैं, के चिह्नों में से एक है “क्योंकि झूठे मसीह और झूठे भविष्यद्वक्ता उठ खड़े होंगे, और चिन्ह और अद्भुत काम दिखाएंगे कि यदि हो सके तो चुने हुओं को भी भरमा दें” (मरकुस 13:22 )। और हम इस बात को अपने चारों ओर बहुतायत से होते हुए देख रहे हैं; ऐसे लोगों की कोई कमी नहीं है जो तरह-तरह के प्रचार और शिक्षाएँ देते रहते हैं, तथा लोगों को बहका कर अनेकों प्रकार के गलत विश्वास और व्यवहार में ले जाते हैं, जो फिर उनके अनन्त विनाश में चले जाने का कारण बन जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा प्रेरित पौलुस ने इसके बारे में चेतावनी दी है (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15)। इन बातों से सुरक्षित रहने का एक ही तरीका है, परमेश्वर के वचन को जानना और उसी में बने रहना। यह करने में सहायता प्रदान करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रत्येक, वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को अपना पवित्र आत्मा, इसी कार्य के लिए दिया है। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को यह आदत बना लेनी चाहिए कि प्रत्येक शिक्षा की वास्तविकता को पहले बाइबल से जाँच-परख ले, चाहे उस शिक्षा को देने वाला कोई भी क्यों न हो, और जो सही है केवल उसी का पालन करे “सब बातों को परखो: जो अच्छी है उसे पकड़े रहो” (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21), अन्य सभी का तिरस्कार कर दे। दूसरे शब्दों में, विश्वासियों को मनुष्यों का नहीं, बल्कि परमेश्वर के वचन का अनुसरण करने वाला होना चाहिए।

• आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी के लिए यह हमारा आत्मिक भोजन है: “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके। नये जन्मे हुए बच्‍चों की नाईं निर्मल आत्मिक दूध की लालसा करो, ताकि उसके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के लिये बढ़ते जाओ” (1 पतरस 2:1-2)। हम अपने प्रतिदिन के जीवन से जानते हैं कि हर उम्र के लोगों के लिए, दूध पौष्टिक आहार है, जो न केवल पोषण, वरन सामर्थ्य, और बढ़ोतरी भी प्रदान करता है। इसी तरह से परमेश्वर का वचन भी है। हर आयु - शारीरिक अथवा आत्मिक, के मसीही विश्वासियों को इस निर्मल आत्मिक दूध - परमेश्वर के वचन की अपनी दैनिक खुराक अवश्य ही लेनी है, नियमित तथा यत्न के साथ। लेकिन साथ ही पतरस की पत्री से लिए गए उपरोक्त पद से एक अन्य बात पर भी ध्यान दीजिए, इस निर्मल आत्मिक दूध को प्रभावी होने के लिए, व्यक्ति को पहले अपने मन को बुराई के विचारों, रवैये, और व्यवहार से स्वच्छ करना होगा। यदि ये बुराई की बातें उसके मन में बनी रहेंगी, तो वे उस निर्मल आत्मिक दूध के प्रभावी होने और बढ़ोतरी लाने में बाधा डालेंगी।

अगले लेख में हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे, और बाइबल के कुछ अन्य पदों पर भी विचार करेंगे, कि हमें क्यों नियमित और यत्न से परमेश्वर के वचन का अध्ययन करना है।

Things Related to Christian Living – 9

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 1 - Word (2)

 In this series on Growth through God’s Word, we are now studying the third category of Bible teachings, i.e., teachings related to practical Christian Living. We have said that for this we will be considering the teachings given in the Book of Acts, in chapters 2 and 15. From Acts chapter 2 we have seen that there are seven things that are necessary for Christian growth. The first three, Repentance, Baptism, Separation from the world, are the initial steps to becoming the follower or disciple of the Lord Jesus. They are mandatory for everyone, irrespective of their social, religious, educational, or financial status or background. It is God’s command that everyone, including those who think of themselves as “christians by birth” must repent. Those who have truly repented, they should publicly witness about their decision by taking baptism; and practically demonstrate their submission to the Lord by separating themselves from living life according to the world and its ways. Then come the four steps, also known as “Pillars of Christian Living” that provide stability, strength, and growth to the Christian Believers. These four are, being steadfast in the Apostles Doctrine or Bible study, in Fellowship, in Breaking of Bread, and in Prayers. From the last article we have started considering the first of these four, i.e., studying the Word of God; and had seen that in the Lord Jesus’s own words, the only tangible proof of a person’s measure of loving God, is how much he loves the Word of God. In the whole of the Bible there is no other indicator given to assess a person’s love for God. Today, we will see from some verses from the Bible, why people should study God’s Word, the Bible.

Why to read the Bible:

• It is God’s command to His people: “You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently” (Psalm 119:4). To keep the precepts, one has to know them; and to know them, one has to read and study them. See also Deuteronomy 6:1-9 and Joshua 1:8 - the safety and success of the Israelites settling in Canaan did not depend upon their numbers or military strength; rather it depended upon how diligently they learnt and obeyed God’s commands. The same holds for the Christian Believers even today.

• To ascertain the truth of teachings & doctrine: “These were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so” (Acts17:11). One of the signs given by the Lord Jesus, of the end times, the times that we are living in, is “For false christs and false prophets will rise and show signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect” (Mark 13:22). And we see this happening all around us; there is no dearth of people preaching and teaching all kinds of things, misleading many into false beliefs and practices, and thereby into eternal destruction. The Apostle Paul through the Holy Spirit had warned about this (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15). The only way of remaining safe is to know and abide in God’s Word, and resolutely stick to obeying only the Word. This is to be done with the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit given by God to every truly Born-Again Christian Believer for this very purpose. Every Christian Believer should make it a habit to examine and ascertain the truth of all teachings, no matter who may be giving them, by cross-checking them from the Bible, and following only those which are true “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thessalonians 5:21), rejecting everything else. In other words, the Believers should be followers of God’s Word and not of men.

• It is our spiritual food for spiritual growth: “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2). We know from our daily lives that milk is a source of nourishment, growth, and strength for people of all ages; everyone can partake of milk and it will provide them nourishment and help them grow. So also the Word of God. All Believers of all ages - spiritual and physical, are to regularly and diligently take their daily dose of the pure spiritual milk - the Word of God. But do notice that in the verse quoted above from Peter’s letter, the precondition for this pure spiritual milk to be effective is that one has to first cleanse his heart of all the ungodly thoughts, attitudes, and behavior. If these things remain in one's heart, they will hinder this pure spiritual milk from being effective and causing spiritual growth.

In the next article we will carry on from here and consider some more Bible verses to learn why we need to study God’s Word regularly and diligently.

Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

• परमेश्वर जब अपने बच्चों से कुछ करने के लिए कहता है, तो वह उस व्यक्ति की क्षमताओं और योग्यताओं को भली-भांति जानता है। और परमेश्वर कभी किसी से ऐसा कुछ भी करने के लिए नहीं कहेगा, जिस के लिए उसने उस व्यक्ति को आवश्यक बातें उपलब्ध नहीं करवाई हैं। साथ ही, विश्वासी में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा उस कार्य को करने में उसकी सहायता करने के लिए, उसका मार्गदर्शन करने के लिए, परमेश्वर के संसाधनों का उचित उपयोग करने के लिए हमेशा उपलब्ध रहता है। इसलिए किसी का भी यह कहना कि वह अपनी जिम्मेदारियों के निर्वाह और भक्ति का जीवन जीने में अक्षम है, यही दिखाता है कि या तो वह अपने संसाधनों का उपयोग नहीं कर रहा है, या, पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन नहीं कर रहा है, अथवा ये दोनों ही गलतियाँ कर रहा है।
• जैसा हमने पिछले दो लेखों में देखा है, जब कोई विश्वासी किसी परिस्थिति पर विजयी होने नहीं पाता है, या फिर बारम्बार किसी पाप या ऐसी गलती में गिरता रहता है, जिसके कारण वह अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी को पूरा नहीं करने पाता है, तो उसकी इस असफलता का कारण उसी में ही विद्यमान होता है। बहुत संभव है कि यह सँसार के साथ उसके किसी प्रकार का समझौते का जीवन जीने के कारण है, जहाँ वह सँसार की किसी बात का भी आनन्द लेते रहना चाहता है और साथ ही भक्ति का जीवन भी जीना चाहता है। लेकिन यह तो हो नहीं सकता है, और इसीलिए वह एक हारा हुआ जीवन जीता है, क्योंकि सँसार के साथ समझौता परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को भी उस में और उसके द्वारा कार्य करने से रोकता है।

    इस सन्दर्भ में, हम देखेंगे कि कैसे परमेश्वर के लोग बहुधा परमेश्वर के वचन के कुछ भागों की गलत व्याख्या करते हैं, इस विचार के साथ और यह कहने के लिए कि कुछ ऐसी बातें भी लिखी गई हैं जो मनुष्य के करने के लिए असंभव हैं; इसलिए उन्हें आलंकारिक रीति से लेना चाहिए न कि शब्दार्थ में। वे यह अपनी असफलताओं को वैध ठहराने के लिए, परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपे गए कार्य एवं जिम्मेदारियों को पूरा न करने पाने का ‘उचित’ कारण दिखाने के लिए करते हैं। इस तर्क के मिथ्या होने को दिखाने के लिए हम मसीही विश्वासी के एक गुण, पवित्रता, को लेंगे; क्योंकि पवित्रता न केवल मसीही जीवन का एक आधारभूत सिद्धान्त है, किन्तु साथ ही यह भी माना जाता है कि यह मनुष्य द्वारा प्राप्त किए जाने और फिर बनाए रखने के लिए असंभव है। यह और भी असंभव इस से हो जाता है कि बाइबल कहती है कि ऐसा कोई नहीं है जो पाप नहीं करता और जितनी बार वह पाप करता है, उतनी बार फिर से बहाल होने के लिए उसे पश्चाताप करने तथा क्षमा मांगने की आवश्यकता होती है (1 यूहन्ना 1:8-10); तो फिर कोई भी मनुष्य पवित्र कैसे हो सकता है तथा बना रह सकता है?

    लेकिन साथ ही बाइबल का यह तथ्य भी है कि परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि बिना पवित्रता के कोई भी प्रभु को नहीं देख सकता है (इब्रानियों 12:14); साथ ही पवित्र होना विश्वासियों के लिए अनिवार्य इसलिए भी हो जाता है क्योंकि परमेश्वर ने अपने बच्चों को पवित्र होने की आज्ञा दी है, “पर जैसा तुम्हारा बुलाने वाला पवित्र है, वैसे ही तुम भी अपने सारे चाल चलन में पवित्र बनो। क्योंकि लिखा है, कि पवित्र बनो, क्योंकि मैं पवित्र हूं” (1 पतरस 1:15-16)। अब, क्योंकि पाप और पवित्रता एक साथ नहीं हो सकती हैं, तो फिर मनुष्य की पाप करते रहने की प्रवृत्ति और परमेश्वर की उसके पवित्र होने की माँग के मध्य सामंजस्य कैसे बैठाया जा सकता है? क्या परमेश्वर जानबूझकर मनुष्य से असंभव की माँग कर रहा है? या, क्या यहाँ पर परमेश्वर के वचन में कोई विरोधाभास है जो विश्वासी को एक असंभव स्थिति में डाल देता है?

Holy Spirit Helps in Our Tests – 4

 

    In our study on being a good steward of God the Holy Spirit, given to every disciple of the Lord Jesus, we have seen that the Holy Spirit is meant to be our Helper or Companion, to help us in our God assigned tasks and ministry. But some Christian Believers have tried to use Him as their substitute, wanting God to do for them what they find themselves incapable of doing. But this is a wrong concept, that has no Biblical support. We have seen the reasons for this to be false, because:

• God has made available everything a Christian Believer needs for life and godliness; so, there is no way any Believer can say that they do not have the necessary resources to carry out his God assigned tasks and fulfil his responsibilities.
• The Holy Spirit was never meant to do the Believer’s tasks for them; He has been given to guide the Believers, to help them use their God given resources to fulfil their responsibilities; to help them live a witnessing life that glorifies God; but not to be their replacement.
• When God asks His children to do something, He well knows the capabilities of the person that He has asked to do the thing. And God will never ask anyone to do anything that He has not already equipped him to do. Moreover, the Holy Spirit residing in the Believer is there to guide and help him through to do that task, utilizing God’s resources. Therefore, for someone to claim that he is incapable of fulfilling his responsibilities and of living a life of godliness, implies that either he is not using his resources, or, not obeying the instructions of God the Holy Spirit, or, committing both these mistakes.
• As we have seen in the previous two articles, when some Believers find themselves unable to get over a situation, or they repeatedly keep falling for some sin or short-coming that keeps them from fulfilling their responsibility, then, the reason for this failure is within themselves. Quite possibly it is in their living a life of some kind of compromise, where they want to enjoy something of the world as well as live a godly life. But this does not work, and they live a defeated life since compromise with the world also prevents God’s power from working in and through them.

    In this context, we will see how God’s people often misinterpret certain portions of God’s Word to think and say that some things that are impossible for men to do have been stated; and these should be taken figuratively, and not literally. They do this to try to justify their failures, their claim of being incapable of fulfilling their God assigned tasks and responsibilities. To illustrate the fallacy of this argument, we will use an attribute of a Christian Believer’s life, ‘Holiness’; since holiness is not only a fundamental characteristic of Christian life, but is also often assumed to be impossible for man to achieve and maintain. More so, as the Bible says, there is no one who does not sin and does not need to repent and ask forgiveness to be restored, every time he sins (1 John 1:8-10), so how can any man be holy or remain holy?

    But it is also a Biblical fact that God says without holiness no one can see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14); being holy becomes imperative for the Believers since God has commanded His children to be holy, “but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, ‘Be holy, for I am holy’” (1 Peter 1:15-16). So, since sin and holiness cannot co-exist, how then does one reconcile between man’s tendency to keep sinning and God’s demand of being holy? Is God deliberately asking the impossible from man? Or, is there a contradiction here in God’s Word, that places a Believer in an unmanageable situation?

    As we will see in the next article, there is no mutual contradiction in these portions of God’s Word and His commands. The problem is a misunderstanding and misinterpretation, of God’s Word and is readily resolved when it is interpreted in context, with the correct understanding and proper Biblical perspective.
