प्रभु यीशु के लोगों के लिए चौथे स्तंभ, प्रार्थना का महत्व

प्रभु की कलीसिया में, प्रभु द्वारा जोड़ दिए लोगों के जीवनों में, कलीसिया के आरंभ के समय से ही सात बातें देखी जाती रही हैं, जिन्हें प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दिया गया है। इनमें से अंतिम चार, एक साथ, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, और इन्हें मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया की स्थिरता के लिए चार स्तंभ भी कहा जाता है; तथा इनके लिए इसी पद में यह भी लिखा है कि उस आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग इन बातों का पालन करने में “लौलीन रहे”। हमने इन चारों में से पहली तीन, और सातों में से पहली छः बातों को पिछले लेखों में देखा है। आज इन चार में से चौथी तथा सात में से सातवीं बात, प्रार्थना में लौलीन रहने के बारे में देखते हैं।

यहाँ हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु के उन आरंभिक अनुयायियों के जीवन में, आरंभ से ही प्रार्थना करने का बहुत महत्व रहा है। सामान्यतः परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने को परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने या उससे प्राप्त करने के प्रयास करने के अभिप्राय से देखा और समझा जाता है। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना का अभिप्राय होता है परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना, जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह बहुधा किया करते थे (मरकुस 1:35; मत्ती 14:23; लूका 5:16; 6:12-13)। यह वार्तालाप औपचारिकता का निर्वाह नहीं, अपितु, किसी अंतरंग मित्र के साथ दिल खोल कर बात करने के समान है। अपने मन की बात परमेश्वर से खुल कर कहना, और परमेश्वर के मन की बात को उससे सुनना। अर्थात, प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से संगति करने के समान है, निरंतर हर बात के लिए उसके संपर्क में बने रहना, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानकर उसके अनुसार कार्य करना। जब मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे निकट संबंध और संपर्क में रहेगा, परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार अपना हर निर्णय और कार्य करेगा, तो स्वतः ही न केवल उसकी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलेगा (यूहन्ना 15:7; 1 यूहन्ना 5:14), वरन् साथ ही उसके जीवन में परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य भी प्रकट रहेगी, उसके कार्य भी सफल होंगे, और वह परिस्थितियों द्वारा विचलित और निराश भी नहीं होगा। यह इसलिए क्योंकि उसे विश्वास रहेगा के जो कुछ भी उसके जीवन में हो रहा है, वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा और योजना के अंतर्गत है, और अन्ततः उससे उसकी भलाई ही होगी (रोमियों 8:28)।

इसीलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा लिखवाया, “निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:17)। इसका यह तात्पर्य नहीं है कि सब कार्य छोड़कर किसी एकांत स्थान में आँख बंद करके और हाथ जोड़कर बैठे रहो और परमेश्वर से कुछ न कुछ कहते रहो। वरन् यह कि हर समय, हर बात के लिए, परमेश्वर के साथ मन में एक मूक संवाद, एक वार्तालाप चलते रहना चाहिए, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानते रहना चाहिए, उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार करते रहना चाहिए। जो इस प्रकार परमेश्वर के साथ अपना घनिष्ठ संबंध बनाए रखते हैं, वे प्रभु के इस वचन को भी समझ सकते हैं और उसके प्रति आश्वस्त रह सकते हैं कि समय और आवश्यकता के अनुसार उन्हें प्रभु से वचन और सहायता मिलती रहेगी (यशायाह 30:21; लूका 12:11-12); तथा वे इन अंत के दिनों की भयानक घटनाओं से बचने और शांति के साथ रहने वाले भी होंगे (लूका 21:34-36; प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:10)।

मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए प्रार्थना करना कुछ निर्धारित समयों पर, किसी तय संख्या के अनुसार गिनकर करना नहीं है, जैसा हम पुराने नियम के कुछ संतों और परमेश्वर के भक्तों के साथ देखते हैं (भजन 55:17; भजन 119:164; दानिय्येल 6:10), वरन् हर पल, हर समय परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क में बने रहना, उससे हर बात के लिए वार्तालाप में बने रहना है। जो इस भाव में जीवन व्यतीत करेगा, फिर वह इस एहसास के साथ भी जीवन जीएगा कि मैं परमेश्वर के साथ, और परमेश्वर मेरे साथ निरंतर विद्यमान हैं। और ऐसी स्थिति में फिर उसके लिए किसी लोभ-लालच, बुरे विचार आदि में बहक कर पाप में गिरना कठिन हो जाएगा, वह शैतान के द्वारा सरलता से बहकाया-गिराया नहीं जाएगा। आप स्वयं अनुमान लगा सकते हैं कि जो इस प्रकार से प्रार्थना में “लौलीन” रहेगा, उसके  आत्मिक जीवन का स्तर कैसा होगा। साथ ही, परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार से संगति और संपर्क वही बना कर रख सकता है, जो प्रभु द्वारा अपनाया गया हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ा गया हो। किसी मानवीय या संस्थागत प्रक्रिया के निर्वाह के द्वारा “कलीसिया” से जुड़ने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार प्रार्थना में जुड़े रहना संभव ही नहीं होगा; और न ही उसके जीवन में प्रार्थना के उत्तर एवं सामर्थ्य दिखाई देगी।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपका प्रार्थना का जीवन कैसा है? क्या आपके लिए प्रार्थना करना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना ही है, या एक अंतरंग मित्र के समान उससे अपने दिल की सभी बातें साझा करना, तथा उसके दिल की बातों को जानकर उनके अनुसार कार्य एवं व्यवहार करना है? आप का प्रार्थना का जीवन और प्रार्थना के प्रति आपका रवैया प्रकट करेगा कि आप वास्तव में प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया से जोड़े गए जन हैं कि नहीं। यदि कहीं कोई कमी है, किसी सुधार की आवश्यकता है, तो अभी समय रहते जो भी ठीक करना है, वह कर लीजिए; कहीं बाद में समय और अवसर न मिले और कोई बहुत भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ जाए।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

The Importance for the Lord’s People of the Fourth Pillar, Prayer

In the Church of the Lord Jesus, in the lives of the people joined to the Church by the Lord, since the inception of the Church, seven things have been seen, which are given in Acts 2:38-42. Of these seven the last four have been given together in one sentence, in Acts 2:42; it is also written in the same sentence that the members of the first Church “continued steadfastly” in them. These four have also been called the four pillars giving stability and firmness to Christian life and the Church. We have seen the first three of these four, i.e., the first six of the seven things in the previous articles. Today, we will look at the last one, the importance of praying steadfastly amongst the Lord’s people.

We see from this verse that in the lives of those initial disciples of the Lord, prayer had a very important place. Usually, prayer is seen and understood as asking something from God, or pleading to get something from Him. But according to God’s Word the Bible, prayer is conversing with God, as the Lord Jesus often used to do (Mark 1:35; Matthew 14:23; Luke 5:16; 6:12-13). This conversation is not the fulfillment of a formality, rather, it is having an open-hearted conversation with a close and dear friend. It is unhesitatingly, freely sharing all you have in your heart with God, and listening to what God has to say to you. In other words, to pray is like having a fellowship session with God, to be in close touch with Him for everything, learning His will and way for everything and doing accordingly. When a Christian Believer will remain in such close contact and relationship with God, will take every decision in God’s will and fulfill it too, then automatically his prayers will answered in the affirmative (John 15:7; 1 John 5:14), and also the power of God too will be manifest in his life, he will be successful in all that he does, and he will never be discouraged or overwhelmed with situations and problems. This is since he will know and keep trusting that whatever is happening in his life is in the will of God and eventually will turn out to be for his good (Romans 8:28).

That is why God the Holy Spirit had it written through the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This does not mean to leave everything aside and be sitting alone all the time with closed eyes and folded hands and keep saying something or the other to God. Rather, it means to be in a constant state of silent conversation with God about everything happening in and around you, and keep doing as the Lord God guides and directs in every situation. Those who maintain their close, intimate relationship with God in this manner, they can well understand this verse; they will always remain assured and confident that as and when they need God’s help and guidance, they will keep receiving it (Isaiah 30:21; Luke 12:11-12). They will also be able to live in peace and with confidence through the terrible events and things of these end times that we are in (Luke 21:34-36; Revelation 3:10).

For the Christian Believers there are no set times of the day or the prescribed number of times to pray, as we see in the lives of some of the Old Testament saints and prophets of God (Psalm 55:17; Psalm 119:164; Daniel 6:10). The Born-Again child of God is expected to remain in constant conversation and touch with God about everything. The person who lives with this attitude, will also be confident that at all times and for everything he is with God and God is with him. Then, with such confidence it will be very difficult for him to be led astray into sin through any temptation, covetousness, wrong thoughts and desires etc. and Satan will not be able to make him fall into his traps. You can imagine for yourself the high spiritual state of those who “continue steadfastly” in prayer in this manner. This also implies that this kind of constant fellowship and conversation is only possible for a person who has been accepted by the Lord and has been joined to His Church by the Lord. No person joined by any man, or any Institution devised process to the Church will be able to remain joined in prayer with God in this manner; nor will answered prayers and the power of prayer be seen in his life.

If you are a Christian Believer, then what is the state of your prayer life? Does prayer only mean asking God for things, or is it a time of sharing your heart with a close intimate friend, learning what is on His heart for you, and then living your life accordingly? Your prayer life and your attitude towards prayer will make evident whether you actually have been joined to the Lord’s Church or not. Evaluate and see, and if there is any deficiency anywhere, if there is anything that needs to be rectified, do it now while you have time and opportunity available from God. May it not be so that by the time you realize, and want to take any remedial measures, it is too late, and you end up paying a heavy price.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में अलगाव - कैसे?

पिछले लेखों में हम पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन, पवित्र आत्मा से भर जाने के बाद पतरस द्वारा यरूशलेम में एकत्रित हुए “भक्त यहूदियों” को किए गए सुसमाचार प्रचार के प्रभावों को देखते आ रहे हैं। मसीह यीशु पर लाए गए विश्वास से प्राप्त होने वाली पापों की क्षमा, उद्धार, और मसीही शिष्यता से संबंधित सात व्यावहारिक बातों को पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पतरस ने उनके सामने रखा, जिन्हें हम प्रेरितों 2:37-42 में से देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने इन सात में से अंतिम, और लिखे गए क्रम के अनुसार तीसरी बात - मसीही विश्वासी के संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अपने आप को अलग करने के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने देखा था कि ऐसा करना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में आकर निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा ऐसा करने में उसकी सहायता करता है। किन्तु मसीही विश्वास को मसीही या ईसाई धर्म बनाकर धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के पालन करने की धारणा रखने वाले, पतरस द्वारा कही गई क्रम की पहली बात - मन फिराओ अर्थात पश्चाताप करो, और क्रम की यह तीसरी बात - अपने आप को संसार और सांसारिकता के व्यवहार से पृथक करो पर न तो कोई विशेष ध्यान देते हैं और न ही मसीही शिष्यता के जीवन में इनके महत्व एवं अनिवार्यता को लोगों को सिखाते हैं। 

मसीही विश्वास के प्रचार और प्रसार के आरंभिक समय में, प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस में स्थित मसीही मण्डली को लिखा “अविश्वासियों के साथ असमान जूए में न जुतो, क्योंकि धामिर्कता और अधर्म का क्या मेल जोल? या ज्योति और अन्धकार की क्या संगति? और मसीह का बलियाल के साथ क्या लगाव? या विश्वासी के साथ अविश्वासी का क्या नाता? और मूरतों के साथ परमेश्वर के मन्दिर का क्या सम्बन्‍ध? क्योंकि हम तो जीवते परमेश्वर का मन्दिर हैं; जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि मैं उन में बसूंगा और उन में चला फिरा करूंगा; और मैं उन का परमेश्वर हूंगा, और वे मेरे लोग होंगे। इसलिये प्रभु कहता है, कि उन के बीच में से निकलो और अलग रहो; और अशुद्ध वस्तु को मत छूओ, तो मैं तुम्हें ग्रहण करूंगा। और तुम्हारा पिता हूंगा, और तुम मेरे बेटे और बेटियां होगे: यह सर्वशक्तिमान प्रभु परमेश्वर का वचन है” (2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18)। यह दिखाता है कि संसार और सांसारिकता से पृथक रहना मसीही विश्वासी के लिए कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और अनिवार्य है। पतरस प्रेरित ने इसके विषय लिखा “हे प्रियो मैं तुम से बिनती करता हूं, कि तुम अपने आप को परदेशी और यात्री जान कर उस सांसारिक अभिलाषाओं से जो आत्मा से युद्ध करती हैं, बचे रहो” (1 पतरस 2:11)। 

थिस्सलुनीकिया की मसीही मण्डली के मसीही विश्वासियों के विश्वास और व्यवहार की सराहना करते हुए पौलुस प्रेरित ने उनके जीवन में आए परिवर्तन और उनके द्वारा अपनी पुरानी बातों को छोड़कर सुसमाचार प्रचार करने तथा प्रभु की बातों पर मन लगाने के बारे में सराहना करते हुए लिखा “और तुम बड़े क्‍लेश में पवित्र आत्मा के आनन्द के साथ वचन को मान कर हमारी और प्रभु की सी चाल चलने लगे। यहां तक कि मकिदुनिया और अखया के सब विश्वासियों के लिये तुम आदर्श बने। क्योंकि तुम्हारे यहां से न केवल मकिदुनिया और अखया में प्रभु का वचन सुनाया गया, पर तुम्हारे विश्वास की जो परमेश्वर पर है, हर जगह ऐसी चर्चा फैल गई है, कि हमें कहने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं। क्योंकि वे आप ही हमारे विषय में बताते हैं कि तुम्हारे पास हमारा आना कैसा हुआ; और तुम कैसे मूरतों से परमेश्वर की ओर फिरे ताकि जीवते और सच्चे परमेश्वर की सेवा करो। और उसके पुत्र के स्वर्ग पर से आने की बाट जोहते रहो जिसे उसने मरे हुओं में से जिलाया, अर्थात यीशु की, जो हमें आने वाले प्रकोप से बचाता है” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 1:6-10)। 

तो क्या इसका तात्पर्य है कि मसीही विश्वासी को संसार के साथ कोई संपर्क, कोई व्यवहार, कोई मेल-जोल या बातचीत नहीं रखनी है; वरन अपने आप को सभी से बिल्कुल अलग-थलग कर के एक सन्यासी के समान जीवन बिताना है? नहीं! परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल यह भी नहीं कहता है; और ऐसी धारणा रखना भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं है। प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि वे सारे जगत में जाकर मसीह यीशु में विश्वास द्वारा सेंत-मेंत उपलब्ध पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार के संदेश को बताएं। यदि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य संसार के लोगों से मिलेंगे-जुलेंगे नहीं, उनसे संपर्क नहीं रखेंगे, तो फिर प्रभु की यह आज्ञा कैसे पूरी करेंगे? पौलुस जब अथेने में अपने साथियों के आने की बाट जोह रहा था, तो यहूदियों और अन्यजाति लोगों से चर्चाएं किया करता था, उन्हें सुसमाचार सुनाया करता था “जब पौलुस अथेने में उन की बाट जोह रहा था, तो नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया। सो वह आराधनालय में यहूदियों और भक्तों से और चौक में जो लोग मिलते थे, उन से हर दिन वाद-विवाद किया करता था। तब इपिकूरी और स्‍तोईकी पण्‍डितों में से कितने उस से तर्क करने लगे, और कितनों ने कहा, यह बकवादी क्या कहना चाहता है परन्तु औरों ने कहा; वह अन्य देवताओं का प्रचारक मालूम पड़ता है, क्योंकि वह यीशु का, और पुनरुत्थान का सुसमाचार सुनाता था” (प्रेरितों 17:16-18)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस प्रेरित ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखा “मैं ने अपनी पत्री में तुम्हें लिखा है, कि व्यभिचारियों की संगति न करना। यह नहीं, कि तुम बिलकुल इस जगत के व्यभिचारियों, या लोभियों, या अन्धेर करने वालों, या मूर्तिपूजकों की संगति न करो; क्योंकि इस दशा में तो तुम्हें जगत में से निकल जाना ही पड़ता” (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:9-10)। 

इन सभी बातों के आधार पर हम यह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए पृथक होकर रहने का अर्थ सन्यास ले लेना, अथवा सभी लोगों से हर प्रकार का संपर्क एवं व्यवहार समाप्त कर देना नहीं है। वरन, मसीही विश्वासियों को संसार के लोगों के समान और सांसारिकता की मानसिकता नहीं रखनी है, उनके सदृश्य नहीं बनना है (रोमियों 12:2)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार में रहते हुए किस प्रकार व्यवहार रखना है सिखाया, जो स्पष्ट करता है कि उन्हें संसार के लोगों के साथ संपर्क रखना था, उनके बीच में अपनी सच्चाई और खराई के कारण एक गवाह बन कर रहना था। प्रभु संसार के लोगों के घरों में जाता था, उनके साथ खाता था, उनसे बातचीत करता था (मत्ती 9:11; 11:19 लूका 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), किन्तु उसने कभी भी उन लोगों के सोच-विचार, व्यवहार को अपने ऊपर हावी नहीं होने दिया, कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता और उसके अनुरूप व्यवहार के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार के लोगों के मध्य एक गवाही का जीवन जीने के लिए कहा: “तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंदा जाए। तुम जगत की ज्योति हो; जो नगर पहाड़ पर बसा हुआ है वह छिप नहीं सकता। और लोग दिया जलाकर पैमाने के नीचे नहीं परन्तु दीवट पर रखते हैं, तब उस से घर के सब लोगों को प्रकाश पहुंचता है। उसी प्रकार तुम्हारा उजियाला मनुष्यों के सामने चमके कि वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देखकर तुम्हारे पिता की, जो स्वर्ग में हैं, बड़ाई करें” (मत्ती 5:13-16)। इसका परिणाम होगा “अन्यजातियों में तुम्हारा चालचलन भला हो; इसलिये कि जिन जिन बातों में वे तुम्हें कुकर्मी जान कर बदनाम करते हैं, वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देख कर; उन्‍हीं के कारण कृपा दृष्टि के दिन परमेश्वर की महिमा करें” (1 पतरस 2:12)।

मसीही विश्वास का जीवन एक व्यवहारिक जीवन है, निरंतर हर बात में प्रभु यीशु की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने, और अपनी हर बात के द्वारा परमेश्वर को महिमा देते रहने का जीवन है “सो तुम चाहे खाओ, चाहे पीओ, चाहे जो कुछ करो, सब कुछ परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिये करो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:31)। किन्तु यदि आप अभी भी संसार के साथ और संसार के समान जी रहे हैं, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह की मानसिकता में भरोसा रखे हुए हैं, तो आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Believer’s Separation from the World - How?

We have been looking at the effects of the gospel preached by Peter on the day of Pentecost, to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We have seen seven things from Acts 2:37-42 that are a feature of the Christian life after coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, receiving the forgiveness of sins, salvation, and becoming a disciple of Christ. In the last article we had started to consider the seventh of these things, a Christian Believer’s life of separation from the world and the ways of the world. We had seen how important this life of separation is, and that God the Holy Spirit residing within the Christian Believer helps him to do this. But, as we have already seen, those who believe in the Christian religion and think of being righteous through the following their religion, doing religious works, fulfilling rituals and ceremonies, they have converted five of these seven things into ritualistic formalities, doing away with their true meaning, significance and application in the Believer’s life. They pay scant attention, if any, to the remaining two, i.e., to repentance and to separation from the world. The importance and necessity of these two are never diligently taught and realistically emphasized upon the congregation by the religious leaders of the Christian religion.

In the initial phase of the preaching and spreading of the Christian faith, the apostle Paul wrote to the Assembly of the Christian Believers in Corinth, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). This passage shows how important and necessary it is for a Christian Believer to stay separated from the world and ways of the world. The apostle Peter wrote about this, “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11).

Paul, appreciating and commending the life and behavior of the Christian Assembly in Thessalonica, wrote about this separation they had exhibited “And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:6-10).

Then, does this mean that a Christian Believer has to have no contact, no interaction, no company or conversation with the people of the world? Are they supposed to keep away from the world as an ascetic? No! God’s Word the Bible does not say this at all; neither is having any such notion in accordance with the Biblical teachings on this subject. The Lord Jesus Himself has commanded His disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel of forgiveness of sins and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus. If the disciples of the Lord Jesus do not meet and interact with the people of the world, nor remain in touch with them, how can they fulfill the Lord’s command? When Paul was waiting for his colleagues to join him in Athens, he spent his time meeting and discussing with the Jews and Gentiles, preaching the gospel to them, “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Therefore, he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, "What does this babbler want to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods," because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection” (Acts 17:16-18). Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote to the Believer’s Assembly in Corinth, “I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world” (1 Corinthians 5:9-10).

In view of the above teachings and passages from God’s Word the Bible, we can understand that the command to be separated from the world for Christian Believer is not a command to become an ascetic, nor is it to be understood as a commandment to cut himself off from every contact and interaction with the world. Rather, they have been commanded to stay away or separated from the mentality and life of the world and worldly people, not be conformed to them (Romans 12:2). The Lord Jesus Christ, during His stay in the world, demonstrated and taught to His disciples how this has to be done. He went to their houses, ate with them and talked with them (Matthew 9:11; 11:19; Luke 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), but never let their way of thinking and living gain an upper hand, never compromised on His values and obedience to God’s Word. The Lord asked His disciples to live an exemplary life amongst the people of the world, one that would witness to their faith in Him, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:13). The effect of their leading such a life will be, “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).

The life of Christian Believer should be a life of practically living and demonstrating the faith, a life that glorifies God through every aspect of life, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). But if you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु के लोगों के लिए चौथे स्तंभ, प्रार्थना का महत्व 

प्रभु की कलीसिया में, प्रभु द्वारा जोड़ दिए लोगों के जीवनों में, कलीसिया के आरंभ के समय से ही सात बातें देखी जाती रही हैं, जिन्हें प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दिया गया है। इनमें से अंतिम चार, एक साथ, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, और इन्हें मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया की स्थिरता के लिए चार स्तंभ भी कहा जाता है; तथा इनके लिए इसी पद में यह भी लिखा है कि उस आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग इन बातों का पालन करने में “लौलीन रहे”। हमने इन चारों में से पहली तीन, और सातों में से पहली छः बातों को पिछले लेखों में देखा है। आज इन चार में से चौथी तथा सात में से सातवीं बात, प्रार्थना में लौलीन रहने के बारे में देखते हैं।

 

यहाँ हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु के उन आरंभिक अनुयायियों के जीवन में, आरंभ से ही प्रार्थना करने का बहुत महत्व रहा है। सामान्यतः परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने को परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने या उससे प्राप्त करने के प्रयास करने के अभिप्राय से देखा और समझा जाता है। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना का अभिप्राय होता है परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना, जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह बहुधा किया करते थे (मरकुस 1:35; मत्ती 14:23; लूका 5:16; 6:12-13)। यह वार्तालाप औपचारिकता का निर्वाह नहीं, अपितु, किसी अंतरंग मित्र के साथ दिल खोल कर बात करने के समान है। अपने मन की बात परमेश्वर से खुल कर कहना, और परमेश्वर के मन की बात को उससे सुनना। अर्थात, प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से संगति करने के समान है, निरंतर हर बात के लिए उसके संपर्क में बने रहना, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानकर उसके अनुसार कार्य करना। जब मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे निकट संबंध और संपर्क में रहेगा, परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार अपना हर निर्णय और कार्य करेगा, तो स्वतः ही उसके जीवन में परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य भी प्रकट रहेगी, उसके कार्य भी सफल होंगे, और वह परिस्थितियों द्वारा विचलित और निराश भी नहीं होगा, क्योंकि उसे विश्वास रहेगा के जो कुछ भी उसके जीवन में हो रहा है, वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा और योजना के अंतर्गत है, और अन्ततः उससे उसकी भलाई ही होगी (रोमियों 8:28)।

 

इसीलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा लिखवाया, “निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:17)। इसका यह तात्पर्य नहीं है कि सब कार्य छोड़कर किसी एकांत स्थान में आँख बंद करके और हाथ जोड़कर बैठे रहो और परमेश्वर से कुछ न कुछ कहते रहो। वरन यह कि हर समय, हर बात के लिए, परमेश्वर के साथ मन में एक मूक संवाद, एक वार्तालाप चलते रहना चाहिए, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानते रहना चाहिए, उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार करते रहना चाहिए। जो इस प्रकार परमेश्वर के साथ अपना घनिष्ठ संबंध बनाए रखते हैं, वे प्रभु के इस वचन को भी समझ सकते हैं और उसके प्रति आश्वस्त रह सकते हैं कि समय और आवश्यकता के अनुसार उन्हें प्रभु से वचन और सहायता मिलती रहेगी (यशायाह 30:21; लूका 12:11-12); तथा इन अंत के दिनों की भयानक घटनाओं से बचने और शांति के साथ रहने वाले भी हो सकते हैं (लूका 21:34-36; प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:10)।

मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए प्रार्थना करना कोई निर्धारित संख्या के अनुसार गिनकर करना नहीं है, जैसा हम पुराने नियम के कुछ संतों और परमेश्वर के भक्तों के साथ देखते हैं (भजन 55:17; भजन 119:164; दानिय्येल 6:10), वरन हर पल, हर समय परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क में बने रहना, उससे हर बात के लिए वार्तालाप में बने रहना है। जो इस भाव में जीवन व्यतीत करेगा, फिर वह इस एहसास के साथ भी जीवन जीएगा कि मैं परमेश्वर के साथ, और परमेश्वर मेरे साथ निरंतर विद्यमान हैं। और ऐसी स्थिति में फिर उसके लिए किसी लोभ-लालच, बुरे विचार आदि में बहक कर पाप में गिरना कठिन हो जाएगा, वह शैतान के द्वारा सरलता से बहकाया-गिराया नहीं जाएगा। आप स्वयं अनुमान लगा सकते हैं कि जो इस प्रकार से प्रार्थना में “लौलीन” रहेगा, उसके  आत्मिक जीवन का स्तर कैसा होगा। साथ ही, परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार से संगति और संपर्क वही बना कर रख सकता है, जो प्रभु द्वारा अपनाया गया हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ा गया हो। किसी मानवीय या संस्थागत प्रक्रिया के निर्वाह के द्वारा “कलीसिया” से जुड़ने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार प्रार्थना में जुड़े रहना संभव ही नहीं होगा।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपका प्रार्थना का जीवन कैसा है? क्या आपके लिए प्रार्थना करना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना ही है, या एक अंतरंग मित्र के समान उससे अपने दिल की सभी बातें साझा करना, तथा उसके दिल की बातों को जानकर उनके अनुसार कार्य एवं व्यवहार करना है? आप का प्रार्थना का जीवन और प्रार्थना के प्रति आपका रवैया प्रकट करेगा कि आप वास्तव में प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया से जोड़े गए जन हैं कि नहीं। यदि कहीं कोई कमी है, किसी सुधार की आवश्यकता है, तो अभी समय रहते जो भी ठीक करना है, वह कर लीजिए; कहीं बाद में समय और अवसर न मिले और कोई बहुत भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ जाए।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Importance for the Lord’s People of the Fourth Pillar, Prayer

In the Church of the Lord Jesus, in the lives of the people joined to the Church by the Lord, since the inception of the Church, seven things have been seen, which are given in Acts 2:38-42. Of these seven the last four have been given together in one sentence, in Acts 2:42; it is also written in the same sentence that the members of the first Church “continued steadfastly” in them. These four have also been called the four pillars giving stability and firmness to Christian life and the Church. We have seen the first three of these four, i.e, the first six of the seven things in the previous articles. Today, we will look at the last one, the importance of praying steadfastly amongst the Lord’s people.

We see from this verse that in the lives of those initial disciples of the Lord, prayer had a very important place. Usually, prayer is seen and understood as asking something from God, or pleading to get something from Him. But according to God’s Word the Bible, prayer was conversing with God, as the Lord Jesus often used to do (Mark 1:35; Matthew 14:23; Luke 5:16; 6:12-13). This conversation was not the fulfilling of a formality, rather, it is having an open-hearted conversation with a close and dear friend. It is unhesitatingly, freely sharing all you have on your heart with God, and also listening to what God has to say to you. In other words, to pray is like having a fellowship session with God, to be in close touch with Him for everything, learning His will and way for everything and doing accordingly. When a Christian Believer will remain in such close contact and relationship with God, will take every decision in God’s will and fulfill it too, then automatically the power of God too will be manifest in his life, he will be successful in all that he does, and he will never be discouraged or overwhelmed with situations and problems, since he will keep trusting that whatever is happening in his life is in the will of God and eventually will turn out to be for his good (Romans 8:28).

That is why God the Holy Spirit had it written through the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This does not mean to leave everything aside and be sitting all the time with closed eyes and folded hands and keep telling something or the other to God. Rather, it means to be in a constant state of silent conversation with God about everything happening in and around you, and keep doing as the Lord God guides and directs in every situation. Those who maintain their close, intimate relationship with God in this manner, they can well understand this verse; they will always remain assured and confident that as and when they need God’s help and guidance, they will keep receiving it (Isaiah 30:21; Luke 12:11-12). They will also be able to live in peace and with confidence through the terrible events and things of these end times that we are in (Luke 21:34-36; Revelation 3:10).

For the Christian Believers there are no set times of the day or the prescribed number of times to pray, as we see in the lives of some of the Old Testament saints and prophets of God (Psalm 55:17; Psalm 119:164; Daniel 6:10). The Born-Again child of God is expected to remain in constant conversation and touch with God about everything. The person who lives with this attitude, will also be confident that at all times and for everything he is with God and God is with him. Then, with such confidence it will be very difficult for him to be led astray into sin through any temptation, covetousness, wrong thoughts and desires etc. and Satan will not be able to make him fall into his traps. You can imagine for yourself the high spiritual state of those who “continue steadfastly” in prayer in this manner. This also implies that this kind of constant fellowship and conversation is only possible for a person who has been accepted by the Lord and been joined to His Church by the Lord. No person joined by any man, or Institution devised process to the Church will be able to remain in prayer with God in this manner.

If you are a Christian Believer, then what is the state of your prayer life? Does prayer only mean asking God for things, or is it a time of sharing your heart with a close intimate friend, learning what is on His heart for you, and then living your life accordingly? Your prayer life and your attitude towards prayer will make evident whether you actually have been joined to the Lord’s Church or not. Evaluate and see, and if there is any deficiency anywhere, if there is anything that needs to be rectified, do it now while you have time and opportunity available from God. May it not be so that by the time you realize, and want to take any remedial measures, it is too late, and you end up paying a heavy price.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में अलगाव - कैसे?

पिछले लेखों में हम पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन, पवित्र आत्मा से भर जाने के बाद पतरस द्वारा यरूशलेम में एकत्रित हुए “भक्त यहूदियों” को किए गए सुसमाचार प्रचार के प्रभावों को देखते आ रहे हैं। मसीह यीशु पर लाए गए विश्वास से प्राप्त होने वाली पापों की क्षमा, उद्धार, और मसीही शिष्यता से संबंधित सात व्यावहारिक बातों को पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पतरस ने उनके सामने रखा, जिन्हें हम प्रेरितों 2:37-42 में से देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने इन सात में से अंतिम, और लिखे गए क्रम के अनुसार तीसरी बात - मसीही विश्वासी के संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अपने आप को अलग करने के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने देखा था कि ऐसा करना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में आकर निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा ऐसा करने में उसकी सहायता करता है। किन्तु मसीही विश्वास को मसीही या ईसाई धर्म बनाकर धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के पालन करने की धारणा रखने वाले, पतरस द्वारा कही गई क्रम की पहली बात - मन फिराओ अर्थात पश्चाताप करो, और क्रम की यह तीसरी बात - अपने आप को संसार और सांसारिकता के व्यवहार से पृथक करो पर न तो कोई विशेष ध्यान देते हैं और न ही मसीही शिष्यता के जीवन में इनके महत्व एवं अनिवार्यता को लोगों को सिखाते हैं। 

मसीही विश्वास के प्रचार और प्रसार के आरंभिक समय में, प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस में स्थित मसीही मण्डली को लिखा “अविश्वासियों के साथ असमान जूए में न जुतो, क्योंकि धामिर्कता और अधर्म का क्या मेल जोल? या ज्योति और अन्धकार की क्या संगति? और मसीह का बलियाल के साथ क्या लगाव? या विश्वासी के साथ अविश्वासी का क्या नाता? और मूरतों के साथ परमेश्वर के मन्दिर का क्या सम्बन्‍ध? क्योंकि हम तो जीवते परमेश्वर का मन्दिर हैं; जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि मैं उन में बसूंगा और उन में चला फिरा करूंगा; और मैं उन का परमेश्वर हूंगा, और वे मेरे लोग होंगे। इसलिये प्रभु कहता है, कि उन के बीच में से निकलो और अलग रहो; और अशुद्ध वस्तु को मत छूओ, तो मैं तुम्हें ग्रहण करूंगा। और तुम्हारा पिता हूंगा, और तुम मेरे बेटे और बेटियां होगे: यह सर्वशक्तिमान प्रभु परमेश्वर का वचन है” (2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18)। यह दिखाता है कि संसार और सांसारिकता से पृथक रहना मसीही विश्वासी के लिए कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और अनिवार्य है। पतरस प्रेरित ने इसके विषय लिखा “हे प्रियो मैं तुम से बिनती करता हूं, कि तुम अपने आप को परदेशी और यात्री जान कर उस सांसारिक अभिलाषाओं से जो आत्मा से युद्ध करती हैं, बचे रहो” (1 पतरस 2:11)। 

थिस्सलुनीकिया की मसीही मण्डली के मसीही विश्वास और व्यवहार की सराहना करते हुए पौलुस प्रेरित ने उनके जीवन में आए परिवर्तन और उनके द्वारा अपनी पुरानी बातों को छोड़कर सुसमाचार प्रचार करने तथा प्रभु की बातों पर मन लगाने के बारे में सराहना करते हुए लिखा “और तुम बड़े क्‍लेश में पवित्र आत्मा के आनन्द के साथ वचन को मान कर हमारी और प्रभु की सी चाल चलने लगे। यहां तक कि मकिदुनिया और अखया के सब विश्वासियों के लिये तुम आदर्श बने। क्योंकि तुम्हारे यहां से न केवल मकिदुनिया और अखया में प्रभु का वचन सुनाया गया, पर तुम्हारे विश्वास की जो परमेश्वर पर है, हर जगह ऐसी चर्चा फैल गई है, कि हमें कहने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं। क्योंकि वे आप ही हमारे विषय में बताते हैं कि तुम्हारे पास हमारा आना कैसा हुआ; और तुम कैसे मूरतों से परमेश्वर की ओर फिरे ताकि जीवते और सच्चे परमेश्वर की सेवा करो। और उसके पुत्र के स्वर्ग पर से आने की बाट जोहते रहो जिसे उसने मरे हुओं में से जिलाया, अर्थात यीशु की, जो हमें आने वाले प्रकोप से बचाता है” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 1:6-10)। 

तो क्या इसका तात्पर्य है कि मसीही विश्वासी को संसार के साथ कोई संपर्क, कोई व्यवहार, कोई मेल-जोल या बातचीत नहीं रखनी है; वरन अपने आप को सभी से बिल्कुल अलग-थलग कर के एक सन्यासी के समान जीवन बिताना है? नहीं! परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल यह भी नहीं कहता है; और ऐसी धारणा रखना भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं है। प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि वे सारे जगत में जाकर मसीह यीशु में विश्वास द्वारा सेंत-मेंत उपलब्ध पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार के संदेश को बताएं। यदि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य संसार के लोगों से मिलेंगे-जुलेंगे नहीं, उनसे संपर्क नहीं रखेंगे, तो फिर प्रभु की यह आज्ञा कैसे पूरी करेंगे? पौलुस जब अथेने में अपने साथियों के आने की बाट जोह रहा था, तो यहूदियों और अन्यजाति लोगों से चर्चाएं किया करता था, उन्हें सुसमाचार सुनाया करता था “जब पौलुस अथेने में उन की बाट जोह रहा था, तो नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया। सो वह आराधनालय में यहूदियों और भक्तों से और चौक में जो लोग मिलते थे, उन से हर दिन वाद-विवाद किया करता था। तब इपिकूरी और स्‍तोईकी पण्‍डितों में से कितने उस से तर्क करने लगे, और कितनों ने कहा, यह बकवादी क्या कहना चाहता है परन्तु औरों ने कहा; वह अन्य देवताओं का प्रचारक मालूम पड़ता है, क्योंकि वह यीशु का, और पुनरुत्थान का सुसमाचार सुनाता था” (प्रेरितों 17:16-18)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस प्रेरित ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखा “मैं ने अपनी पत्री में तुम्हें लिखा है, कि व्यभिचारियों की संगति न करना। यह नहीं, कि तुम बिलकुल इस जगत के व्यभिचारियों, या लोभियों, या अन्‍धेर करने वालों, या मूर्तिपूजकों की संगति न करो; क्योंकि इस दशा में तो तुम्हें जगत में से निकल जाना ही पड़ता” (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:9-10)। 

इन सभी बातों के आधार पर हम यह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए पृथक होकर रहने का अर्थ सन्यास ले लेना, अथवा सभी लोगों से हर प्रकार का संपर्क एवं व्यवहार समाप्त कर देना नहीं है। वरन, मसीही विश्वासी को संसार के लोगों के समान और सांसारिकता की मानसिकता नहीं रखनी है, उनके सदृश्य नहीं बनना है (रोमियों 12:2)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार में रहते हुए किस प्रकार व्यवहार रखना है सिखाया, जो स्पष्ट करता है कि उन्हें संसार के लोगों के साथ संपर्क रखना था, उनके बीच में अपनी सच्चाई और खराई के कारण एक गवाह बन कर रहना था। प्रभु संसार के लोगों के घरों में जाता था, उनके साथ खाता था, उनसे बातचीत करता था (मत्ती 9:11; 11:19 लूका 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), किन्तु उसने कभी भी उन लोगों के सोच-विचार, व्यवहार को अपने ऊपर हावी नहीं होने दिया, कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता और उसके अनुरूप व्यवहार के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार के लोगों के मध्य एक गवाही का जीवन जीने के लिए कहा: “तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्‍वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंदा जाए। तुम जगत की ज्योति हो; जो नगर पहाड़ पर बसा हुआ है वह छिप नहीं सकता। और लोग दिया जलाकर पैमाने के नीचे नहीं परन्तु दीवट पर रखते हैं, तब उस से घर के सब लोगों को प्रकाश पहुंचता है। उसी प्रकार तुम्हारा उजियाला मनुष्यों के सामने चमके कि वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देखकर तुम्हारे पिता की, जो स्वर्ग में हैं, बड़ाई करें” (मत्ती 5:13-16)। इसका परिणाम होगा “अन्यजातियों में तुम्हारा चालचलन भला हो; इसलिये कि जिन जिन बातों में वे तुम्हें कुकर्मी जान कर बदनाम करते हैं, वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देख कर; उन्‍हीं के कारण कृपा दृष्टि के दिन परमेश्वर की महिमा करें” (1 पतरस 2:12)।

 

मसीही विश्वास का जीवन एक व्यवहारिक जीवन है, निरंतर हर बात में प्रभु यीशु की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने, और अपनी हर बात के द्वारा परमेश्वर को महिमा देते रहने का जीवन है “सो तुम चाहे खाओ, चाहे पीओ, चाहे जो कुछ करो, सब कुछ परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिये करो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:31)। किन्तु यदि आप अभी भी संसार के साथ और संसार के समान जी रहे हैं, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह की मानसिकता में भरोसा रखे हुए हैं, तो आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Believer’s Separation from the World - How?

We have been looking at the effects of the gospel preached by Peter on the day of Pentecost, to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We have seen seven things from Acts 2:37-42 that are a feature of the Christian life after coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, receiving the forgiveness of sins, salvation, and become a disciple of Christ. In the last article we had started to consider the seventh of these things, a Christian Believer’s life of separation from the world and the ways of the world. We had seen how important this life of separation is, and that God the Holy Spirit residing within the Christian Believer helps him to do this. But, as we have already seen, those who believe in the Christian religion and think of being righteous through the following their religion, doing religious works, fulfilling rituals and ceremonies, they have converted five of these seven things into ritualistic formalities, doing away with their true meaning, significance and application in the Believer’s life. They pay scant attention, if any, to the remining two, i.e., repentance and separation from the world; and the importance and necessity of these two are never diligently taught and realistically emphasized upon the congregation by the religious leaders of the Christian religion.

In the initial phase of the preaching and spreading of the Christian faith, the apostle Paul wrote to the Christian Believer’s Assembly in Corinth, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). This passage shows how important and necessary it is for a Christian Believer to stay separated from the world and ways of the world. The apostle Peter wrote about this, “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11).

Paul, appreciating and commending the life and behavior of the Christian Assembly in Thessalonica, wrote about this separation they had exhibited “And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:6-10).

Then, does this mean that a Christian Believer has to have no contact, no interaction, no company or conversation with the people of the world? Are they supposed to keep away from the world as an ascetic? No! God’s Word the Bible does not say this at all; neither is harboring any such notion in accordance with the Biblical teachings on this subject. The Lord Jesus Himself has commanded His disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel of forgiveness of sins and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus. If the disciples of the Lord Jesus do not meet and interact with the people of the world, not remain in touch with them, how can they fulfill the Lord’s command? When Paul was waiting for his colleagues to join him in Athens, he spent his time meeting and discussing with the Jews and Gentiles, preached the gospel to them, “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Therefore, he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, "What does this babbler want to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods," because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection” (Acts 17:16-18). Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote to the Believer’s Assembly in Corinth, “I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world” (1 Corinthians 5:9-10).

In view of the above teachings and passages from God’s Word the Bible, we can surmise that the command to be separated from the world for Christian Believer is not a command to become an ascetic, nor is it to be understood as a commandment to cut himself off from every contact and interaction with the world. Rather, they have been commanded to stay away or separated from the mentality and life of the world and worldly people, not to be conformed to them (Romans 12:2). The Lord Jesus Christ, during His stay in the world, demonstrated and taught to His disciples how this has to be done. He went to their houses, ate with them and talked with them (Matthew 9:11; 11:19; Luke 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), but never let their way of thinking and living gain an upper hand, never compromised on His values and obedience to God’s Word. The Lord asked His disciples to live an exemplary life amongst the people of the world, one that would witness to their faith in Him, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:13). The effect of their leading such a life will be, “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).

The life of Christian Believer should be a life of practically living and demonstrating the faith, a life that glorifies God through every aspect of life, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). But if you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.
