परमेश्वर के द्वारा प्रदान की गई बातों के प्राप्त कर्ता होने के नाते, नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी, परमेश्वर को उसके द्वारा दी गई हर बात के लिए उत्तरदायी हैं; और इसीलिए उन्हें परमेश्वर के सभी उपहारों के योग्य भण्डारी बन कर कार्य करना है। परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हें सौंपी गई सेवकाई का और उनके मसीही विश्वास जीवन का सही निर्वाह करने के लिए, परमेश्वर ने प्रत्येक विश्वासी को विभिन्न बातें दीं हैं। प्रत्येक विश्वासी के उद्धार पाने के पल से ही उसे परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी प्रदान किया जाता है कि उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक और मार्गदर्शक बनकर, आजीवन उसमें निवास करे। पवित्र आत्मा विश्वासी को उसके जीवन और सेवकाई के बारे में सिखाता है, और साथ ही उसे परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल भी सिखाता है, यदि विश्वासी पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए तैयार हो, तो। इस श्रृंखला में हम प्राथमिक रीति से पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के बारे में, पवित्र शास्त्र के भिन्न खण्डों से सीख रहे हैं; और वर्तमान में हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:12-14 पर विचार कर रहे हैं। हमने पद 12 और 13 देख लिए हैं, और पिछले लेख से हमने पद 14 पर विचार करना आरंभ किया है।

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि विश्वासी के जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभावी और कार्यकारी होने के लिए, विश्वासी को अपने जीवन में से साँसारिक और शारीरिक बातों को बाहर निकालना है (1 पतरस 2:1)। जैसा कि इस पद 14 के पहले भाग में लिखा है, “परन्तु शारीरिक मनुष्य परमेश्वर के आत्मा की बातें ग्रहण नहीं करता, क्योंकि वे उस की दृष्टि में मूर्खता की बातें हैं;” शारीरिक मनुष्य ऐसा हर वह मनुष्य है जो सँसार की बातों और शारीरिक अभिलाषाओं के वश में रहता है – वह कोई उद्धार नहीं पाया हुआ जन हो सकता है; कोई ऐसा जन हो सकता है जो अपने आप को नया-जन्म पाया हुआ तो समझता है, किन्तु वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाया हुआ है नहीं, जैसे कि प्रेरितों 8 में शमौन टोन्हा करने वाला; या कोई नया-जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी जो अभी भी साँसारिक और शारीरिक जीवन जी रहा है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3)। वे लोग जो साँसारिक और शारीरिक लालसाओं के नियंत्रण में रहते हैं, वे चाहे नया-जन्म पाए हुए हों अथवा न हों, वे अभी भी आत्मिक अन्धेपन में जी रहे हैं, “क्योंकि उनकी बुद्धि अन्‍धेरी हो गई है और उस अज्ञानता के कारण जो उन में है और उनके मन की कठोरता के कारण वे परमेश्वर के जीवन से अलग किए हुए हैं” (इफिसियों 4:18)। वे पवित्र आत्मा की कोई भी बात इसलिए स्वीकार नहीं करने पाते हैं, क्योंकि उनकी दृष्टि में वे मूर्खता की बातें हैं; और ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि वे बातें उन्हें अपने आँकलन के अनुसार असंगत अथवा असंभव लगती है। उनका आँकलन गलत इसलिए है क्योंकि उनकी बुद्धि अँधेरी हो गई है; और उनके मन की कठोरता के कारण उनमें अज्ञानता है।

उनकी दृष्टि में पवित्र आत्मा की बातें मूर्खता की बातें हैं, क्योंकि वे उन्हें समझ नहीं पाते हैं। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि उनके मन और बुद्धि सँसार और उनकी शारीरिक अभिलाषाओं के वश में हैं, इसीलिए वे बातों को अपने सांसारिक और सीमित दृष्टिकोण से देखना और समझना चाहते हैं। लेकिन जैसा कि पद 14 की दूसरे भाग में लिखा है, पवित्र आत्मा की बातें आत्मिक रीति से पहचानी और समझीं जाती हैं, न कि मानवीय बुद्धि और साँसारिक समझ-बूझ के द्वारा। उदाहरण के लिए, क्रूस की कथा को लीजिए; पौलुस ने लिखा, “क्योंकि क्रूस की कथा नाश होने वालों के निकट मूर्खता है, परन्तु हम उद्धार पाने वालों के निकट परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य है” (1कुरिन्थियों 1:18) – क्रूस का वह सन्देश तो सभी के लिये एक ही है; किन्तु एक दृष्टिकोण रखने वालों के लिए वह मूर्खता है; और एक भिन्न दृष्टिकोण रखने वालों के लिए, वह परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य है। इसी प्रकार से सुसमाचार के बारे में भी है, “क्योंकि मैं सुसमाचार से नहीं लजाता, इसलिये कि वह हर एक विश्वास करने वाले के लिये, पहिले तो यहूदी, फिर यूनानी के लिये उद्धार के निमित परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य है” (रोमियों 1:16)। जो सुसमाचार पर विश्वास करते हैं और उसे स्वीकार कर लेते हैं, वे अपने जीवनों में परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य को अनुभव करते हैं, किन्तु जो यह नहीं करते हैं, वे नाश हो जाते हैं। थोड़ा विचार कीजिए, बाइबल में लिखा प्रत्येक आश्चर्यकर्म लोगों के लिए तब तक एक मूर्खता था, असंभव था, जब तक कि वह हो नहीं गया; और वह इसलिए हुआ क्योंकि कुछ लोगों ने परमेश्वर में विश्वास किया। सम्पूर्ण इब्रानियों 11 अध्याय उन लोगों के विश्वास की गवाही है जिन्होंने परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखा, अपने विश्वास को प्रदर्शित किया, असंभव लगने वाली परिस्थितियों में भी, और परमेश्वर ने उनके लिए वह किया जो किसी के भी सोचने और समझने से कहीं बढ़कर था।

    आज भी पवित्र आत्मा इच्छुक है, प्रतीक्षा में है कि, अपने जीवनों से साँसारिक और शारीरिक बातों को निकाल देने के बाद,  विश्वासी उसके पास भरोसा रखते हुए आएँ, जिस से कि वह उनके जीवनों में अपने कार्य को आरंभ कर सके। जब हम सँसार से हट कर पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता में चलने के लिए तैयार होते हैं, तब वह हमेशा ही मसीही विश्वास का जीवन जीने में और परमेश्वर का वचन हमें सिखाने में हमारा सहायक और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए तैयार रहता है। लेकिन जैसा कि पहले भी कहा गया है, वह हमारे स्थान पर कभी काम नहीं करता है, अर्थात, वह कभी हम से हमारी ज़िम्मेदारी को, उसको जो हमें करने के लिए सौंपा गया है, लेकर उसे स्वयं हमारे स्थान पर पूरा नहीं करेगा। वह कार्य करने के लिए बुद्धि, सामर्थ्य, और मार्गदर्शन प्रदान करता है, लेकिन यह विश्वासी का दायित्व है कि उसके कहे के अनुसार करे। हमारे जीवनों में कई प्रलोभनों और परीक्षाओं पर जयवंत होने के लिए, हमें मत्ती 5:30, 18:8-9 पर गंभीरता से विचार करना चाहिए, अर्थात, दृढ़ निश्चय होकर अपने जीवन से बहुत सी उन साँसारिक बातों को निकाल देना चाहिए जो हमें बारंबार ठोकर देने और परीक्षाओं में गिर जाने का कारण बनती हैं। चाहे यह करना हमें कितना भी कष्टदायक क्यों न लगे, वे बातें हमें कितनी भी आवश्यक क्यों न लगें, परन्तु हर वह बात जो हमें परमेश्वर और उसके वचन से दूर ले जाती है, वह हमारे लिये अनन्तकालीन हानि ही का कारण होगी, कभी भी किसी भी प्रकार से लाभकारी नहीं होगी। सही निर्णय करने में सहायता के लिए हमें उस कीमत के बारे में सोच लेना चाहिए जो हमें सही निर्णय नहीं लेने के कारण, बार-बार सांसारिक प्रलोभनों और पाप में पड़ते रहने के द्वारा चुकानी पड़ेगी; अर्थात्, हमारी अनन्तकाल की आशीषों और प्रतिफलों की हानि, और साथ ही पृथ्वी पर ताड़ना सहना। जब हम विश्वास में पहला कदम उठाते हैं, तो पवित्र आत्मा हमारी अगुवाई करता हुआ हमें जीवन में आगे बढ़ाता है, और परमेश्वर उन चीजों से, जिन्हें हमें उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में छोड़ना पड़ा था, और भी अधिक बेहतर तथा उपयोगी चीजें हमें देता है।

पिछले चार महीनों से भी अधिक समय से हम सफल और आशीशित जीवन जीना सीखने के बारे में विभिन्न बातों को देखते और सीखते आ रहे हैं। हमने बहुत सी बातों को देखा और सीखा है। अगले कुछ लेखों में हम उन बातों का एक पुनःअवलोकन करेंगे जो हमने अभी तक देखी और सीखी हैं; और फिर उसके बाद हमारे अध्ययन में आगे बढ़ेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 27

As recipients of the God given things, the Born-Again Christian Believers are accountable to God for all that He has given to them; and therefore they must function as worthy stewards of All of God’s gifts. God has given various provisions to every Believer for living their Christian lives, as well as fulfilling their God assigned Christian ministry. God the Holy Spirit has also been given to reside in every Believer from the moment of his salvation, as his Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide. The Holy Spirit teaches the Believers about his life and ministry, and also teaches him God’s Word the Bible, if he is willing to learn from the Holy Spirit. In this series we are learning about primarily learning from the Holy Spirit through various Scriptural passages; and presently are considering 1 Corinthians 2:12-14. We have considered verses 12 and 13, and have started on verse 14 since the last article.

In the last article we have seen that for the Holy Spirit to be effective and working in the Believer’s life, he must get rid of the worldly and carnal things (1 Peter 2:1). As is written in the first phrase of this 14th verse, “the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him;” the “natural man” is anyone who is under the control of carnal desires and things of the world – he could be someone who is not yet saved; or, someone thinking that he is Born-Again, but is not actually Born-Again, as Simon the sorcerer in Acts 8; or, a Born-Again Christian Believer who is still living a worldly and carnal life (1 Corinthians 3:1-3). Those who are controlled by the world and the carnal desires, whether Born-Again or not, are still in spiritual blindness, “having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart;” (Ephesians 4:18).  They are incapable of receiving the things of the Holy Spirit, for they are foolishness to them; this is because those things appear to be inconsistent and impossible to them, according to their own assessment. Their assessment is at fault because their understanding is darkened; and consequent to the blindness of their hearts, they are ignorant.

The things of the Holy Spirit are foolishness to them, because they are unable to understand them. This is since their minds and hearts are under the control of the world, and their carnal desires, and they try to evaluate and know about things from that worldly and limited perspective. But as is written in the second half of verse 14, the things of the Holy Spirit are discerned or understood spiritually, and not by human intellect and worldly wisdom. Take for example, the message of the Cross; Paul writes, “For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God” (1 Corinthians 1:18) – that message of the Cross is the same for everyone, but for people having one point of view it is foolishness; but with those with another point of view, it is the power of God. Similarly, for the gospel, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek” (Romans 1:16). Those who believe in the gospel and accept it, they experience the power of God in their lives, but those who don’t do this, they perish. Think it over, every miracle recorded in the Bible was foolishness, was something impossible for the people, till it happened; and it happened because of some people’s faith in God. The whole of Hebrews chapter 11 is a testimony of these people of faith who trusted God, exhibited their faith, even in seemingly impossible situations, and God did for them what was way beyond anyone could ever think or imagine.

Even today, God the Holy Spirit is willing and waiting for the Believers to remove the worldly and carnal things from their lives, and come to Him in faith, so that He can begin His work in them. When we are willing to step away from the world, and walk in obedience to the Holy Spirit, He is always there to help and guide us in living our Christian life, and teach God’s Word to us. But, as has been said earlier, He will never become our substitute, i.e., He will never take over from us and do for us what we are supposed to do in our lives. He provides the wisdom, the strength, the guidance, but it is for the Believers to act according to what He says. For overcoming many temptations in our lives, we need to pay serious heed to Matthew 5:30; 18:8-9, i.e., resolutely get rid of those worldly things in our lives that cause us to repeatedly stumble and fall into temptations. No matter how painful it may seem, no matter how necessary those things may seem to us, but anything that draws us away from God and His Word will only be eternally harmful, never beneficial in any manner. To help make the correct decision, consider the cost we will have to pay for not taking the correct decision and therefore keep falling into temptations and sin; i.e., the loss of eternal blessings and rewards, as well as chastisement on earth. When we take the first step in faith, the Holy Spirit leads us on in our lives, and God provides for things far better and useful than the ones we give up in obedience to Him.

    For the past over four months we have been learning about the various aspects of leading a blessed and successful life. We have covered a lot of ground, seen and learnt many things. In the next few articles, we will revise and recapitulate what we have learnt so far; and then move ahead in our study.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर द्वारा, उसके उद्धार पाने के पल से ही, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रदान किया गया है, मसीही जीवन जीने और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे निर्धारित की गई सेवकाई का निर्वाह करने के लिए। पवित्र आत्मा उस में उसका सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक बन कर आजीवन निवास करता है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के भण्डारी होने के नाते, विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर के वचन में से उसकी सहायता और सेवाओं को योग्य रीति से उपयोग करना सीखना चाहिए। पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा विश्वासियों को सिखाई जाने वाली बातों में से एक है परमेश्वर का वचन, बाइबल (यूहन्ना 14:26)। किन्तु बहुत ही कम विश्वासी उस से सीखते हैं; उस की बजाए, वे मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों से सीखने लगते हैं। ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए उस के प्रति एक अनुशासन की, समर्पण और प्रतिबद्धता की आवश्यकता होती है। मनुष्यों और उनकी रचनाओं से सीखने में कुछ खतरे होते हैं, क्योंकि, मनुष्य चाहे कितना भी भक्त और परमेश्वर के प्रति समर्पित जन क्यों न हो, लेकिन फिर भी वह गलती करने वाला और असिद्ध रहता है। और उसकी असिद्धता की, गलतियों की बातें उसके जीवन और कार्यों में कभी-कभी प्रकट होती ही रहती हैं। इसलिए गलती करने वाले और असिद्ध मनुष्यों और उनके द्वारा लिखी गई पुस्तकों पर निर्भर करने से विश्वासी गलतियों में पड़ने और शैतान द्वारा बहकाए जाने के खतरे में बना रहता है।

हाल के कुछ लेखों में हम विश्वासियों द्वारा परमेश्वर का वचन पवित्र आत्मा की बजाए मनुष्यों से सीखने के बारे में विचार कर रहे हैं। कारणों में से एक है, कुछ विश्वासियों का कुछ अगुवों और प्रचारकों को बहुत आदर-समान का स्तर देकर, उन पर अँध-विश्वास करना। इसलिये उन लोगों में, अपने मन-पसन्द अगुवों और प्रचारकों की कही गई हर बात को, बिना पहले बाइबल से जाँचे-परखे, यूँ ही स्वीकार कर लेने, और उसका पालन करने लगने की दृढ़ और हठीली प्रवृत्ति रहती है। उनका यह ढिठाई से मनुष्यों का अनुसरण का रवैया, उन्हें अपरिपक्व और शारीरिक मसीही बना देता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:3-4)। ऐसे विश्वासी ‘दूध’ के सिवाए, और कुछ भी नहीं पचा पाते हैं; अर्थात, मसीहीयत के आधारभूत सिद्धान्तों से परे और कुछ भी स्वीकार करने और सीखने नहीं पाते हैं। पिछले लेख में हम इस स्थान पर आकर रुके थे कि उनके इस ढीठ रवैये के कारण और कठोर हो कर सुधरने की कोई इच्छा नहीं रखने के कारण, पवित्र आत्मा को पीछे हटना पड़ता है, और उसे उन्हें उन के चुने हुए साधनों पर छोड़ देना पड़ता है। किन्तु क्योंकि परमेश्वर प्रेम और धैर्य रखने वाला परमेश्वर है, वह उन्हें त्याग नहीं देता है, वरन उन्हें केवल ‘दूध’ जिसे वे पचा सकते हैं देता रहता है। किन्तु मसीही विश्वास तथा परमेश्वर के वचन में उनकी शिक्षा इस से आगे नहीं बढ़ने पाती है। आज हम यहाँ से आगे बढ़ेंगे।

यह ‘दूध’, आधारभूत बातें, अर्थात् वे आरंभिक सिद्धान्त, जिन्हें नए विश्वासियों को जानना और सीखना चाहिए, हमें इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में दिए गए हैं, “इसलिये आओ मसीह की शिक्षा की आरम्भ की बातों को छोड़ कर, हम सिद्धता की ओर आगे बढ़ते जाएं, और मरे हुए कामों से मन फिराने, और परमेश्वर पर विश्वास करने, और बपतिस्मों और हाथ रखने, और मरे हुओं के जी उठने, और अन्‍तिम न्याय की शिक्षा रूपी नेव, फिर से न डालें।” ये संख्या में छः हैं, और पश्चाताप से लेकर अन्तिम न्याय तक का सारा क्रम इन में पाया जाता है। इब्रानियों 5:12 से प्रतीत होता है कि उस समय में मसीही विश्वास की इन आरंभ की बातों का सिखाया जाना निर्धारित कार्य होता था। लेकिन दुःख की बात है कि आज अधिकांश मसीही, चाहे उन्हें नया जन्म पाए हुए कई वर्ष ही क्यों न हो गए हों, इन के बारे शायद ही कुछ जानते हैं। इसलिए, इन छः बातों को प्रत्येक मसीही को सिखाया जाना निर्धारित पाठ्यक्रम होना चाहिए।

इब्रानियों 5:11-12 हमारे सामने कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातें लाता है:

• पहली, क्योंकि इब्रानियों की पत्री के पाठक उन्हें सिखाई गई इन आरंभ की बातों के बारे में भूल गए थे, इसलिए उन का अपने मसीही जीवनों में बढ़ना और परिपक्व होना रुक गया था। यदि वे उन सिद्धांतों का पालन करते रहते, तो यह आशा की जाती थी कि वे ‘शिक्षक’ हो जाते और ‘ठोस भोजन’, या अन्न खाने और पचाने वाले परिपक्व जन बन जाते।

• दूसरी, मसीही जीवन में बढ़ोतरी और परिपक्वता विश्वास में आने से ले कर अभी तक के बीते समय के आधार पर नहीं है, बल्कि विश्वासियों के रवैये और व्यवहार के आधार पर है। प्रेरित पौलुस अपने युवा शिष्य तीमुथियुस को इफिसुस की कलीसिया में गलतियों को सुधारने के लिए अकेला छोड़ सका (1 तीमुथियुस 1:3-4)। जिन मसीही विश्वासियों के जीवन में डाह, झगड़े, और विभाजन है, वे बाइबल के मानकों के अनुसार अभी भी अपरिपक्व और शारीरिक विश्वासी हैं (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:3)। इस से कोई अन्तर नहीं पड़ता है कि वे विश्वास में चाहे कितने भी लंबे समय से क्यों न हों, विश्वासियों में उनका स्तर चाहे कुछ भी हो, और परमेश्वर के वचन के बारे में वे चाहे कितना भी ज्ञान क्यों न रखते हों। इसलिए वे केवल इन छः आरंभिक सिद्धांतों को ही सीखने, स्वीकार करने, और समझने भर की क्षमता रखते हैं।

• तीसरा, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए ‘ठोस भोजन’ या अन्न, जैसा कि यहाँ इब्रानियों 5:12 में लिखा है, और प्रेरित पौलुस ने 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:2 में कहा है, परमेश्वर के वचन की वो शिक्षाएँ और दर्शन हैं जो इब्रानियों 6:1-2 में कही गई इन छः बातों से अधिक गूढ़ और गंभीर हैं, उदाहरण के लिए मसीह की सेवकाई और मलिकिसिदक (इब्रानियों 5:10)।

• चौथा, इन आरंभिक बातों को भूल जाना, इनके प्रति लापरवाह होना, इनकी अनदेखी करना, मसीही विश्वासी को अपरिपक्व बना देता है, उसे परमेश्वर के वचन की गूढ़ बातों को ग्रहण करने और समझने के अयोग्य कर देता है, और उसे ठोस भोजन नहीं बल्कि लौट कर फिर से केवल ‘दूध’ लेने वाला बना देता है। क्योंकि तब वह ऊँचा सुनने लगता है और उसे समझा पाना कठिन हो जाता है (इब्रानियों  5:11)।

हम अगले लेख में यहाँ से और आगे चलेंगे तथा देखेंगे। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा से अपने पापों के लिये पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 8

 

The Holy Spirit of God, has been given to every Christian Believer by God at the moment of his salvation, to always reside in him as his Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide. He has been given to help the Believer in living his Christian life and fulfilling his God assigned ministry responsibilities. As stewards of the Holy Spirit, the Believers have to learn from God’s Word to utilize His help and services worthily. One of the things the Holy Spirit teaches to the Believers is God’s Word, the Bible (John 14:26). But not many Believers learn from Him; instead, they turn to learning from men and books. This is because learning from the Holy Spirit requires discipline, a commitment, and obedience to Him. Learning from man and his works has its dangers, since no man, no matter how godly and committed to God he may be, but he is still fallible and imperfect. And this fallibility, this imperfection keeps showing up every now and then in his life and works. Therefore, relying upon fallible, imperfect men and the books written by them leaves the Believers open to falling into errors and being misled by Satan.

In the recent articles, we have been considering about the Believers learning God’s Word not from the Holy Spirit, but from men. One of the reasons is some Believers hold some leaders and preachers in very high esteem, and have blind faith in them for everything. Therefore, they have an obstinate tendency to blindly accept and follow whatever their esteemed leaders and preachers say and teach. They stubbornly and persistently ignore the Biblical command to first evaluate and verify it from the Bible. This persistent attitude of following men, makes those Believers immature and carnal Christians (1 Corinthians 3:3-4). Such Believers are incapable of digesting anything but ‘milk’, i.e., incapable of accepting and learning anything beyond the basic elementary principles of Christianity. In the last article we had stopped at the point that because of this stubborn attitude, and being resistant to corrections, the Holy Spirit has to step back in the lives of such Believers, and leave them to their own chosen devices. God being a God of love, being long-suffering, He does not abandon them, but keeps on feeding them with the ‘milk’ that they can take and digest. But their learning in Christian faith and Word of God does not go beyond this. Today we will carry on about this from this point onwards.

This ‘milk’, the basics, i.e., the elementary principles that the beginners need to know and learn, are given to us in Hebrews 6:1-2, “Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.” They are six in number, and cover the whole spectrum from repentance up to eternal judgement. In other words, all the aspects of Christian life are covered in these six topics. From Hebrews 5:12, it seems that teaching these elementary principles was then the standard practice. But sadly speaking, today most Christians, despite being Born-Again Believers for many years, know hardly anything significant about them. Hence these six principles ought to be the standard teaching and learning curriculum for all Christians.

Hebrews 5:11-12 brings some important points before us:

• Firstly, Because the recipients of the letter to Hebrews had forgotten what they had been taught about these elementary principles, therefore they had stopped growing and maturing in their Christian lives. Had they continued to follow these principles, the expectation was that they would have become ‘teachers’ and matured to be those who would take and digest ‘solid food.’

• Secondly, Christian growth and maturity is not according to the time one has been in the faith, but by attitudes and behaviour of the Believers. The Apostle Paul could leave Timothy his young pupil alone, to correct the errors in the Church at Ephesus (1 Timothy 1:3-4). The Christian Believers who have envy, strife, and divisions in their lives, by Biblical standards, they are still immature and carnal Christians (1 Corinthians 3:3). Irrespective of however long they might have been in the faith, no matter what their status may be amongst the Believers, and howsoever knowledgeable they may be about God’s Word. Therefore, they are only capable of learning, accepting, and understanding things related to these six elementary principles.

• Thirdly, the ‘solid food’ for the Christian Believers, as written here in Hebrew 5:12, and as the Apostle Paul has said in 1 Corinthians 3:2, are teachings and expositions of God’s Word that are deeper and more profound than what is covered in these six elementary principles that  are stated in Hebrews 6:1-2; e.g., things about Christ’s ministry and Melchizedek (Hebrews 5:10).

• Fourthly, forgetting, or overlooking, or ignoring these basic elementary principles, leads to loss of maturity in the Christian Believer, rendering him incapable of receiving and understanding the deeper things of God’s Word, and reverting him to requiring being fed only milk, not solid food. Since then they become dull of hearing, and it becomes something hard to explain to them (Hebrews 5:11).

We will carry on further about this in the next article.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी, उसे उसके उद्धार पाने के पल से ही परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रदान किए गए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का भण्डारी भी हो जाता है। पवित्र आत्मा उसे उसका मसीही जीवन जीने तथा सेवकाई को भली-भाँति पूरा करने में सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, और मार्गदर्शक होने के लिए दिया गया है। इसलिए पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता को योग्य रीति से उपयोग करने के लिए, विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के वचन से उस के बारे में सीखना चाहिए, जिस से कि पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रचलित झूठी शिक्षाओं और गलत धारणाओं में पड़ कर भटक न जाए। हम यह प्रभु यीशु द्वारा यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में दी गई शिक्षाओं को सीखने के द्वारा कर रहे हैं। वर्तमान में हम यूहन्ना 14:17 से सीख रहे हैं, जहाँ से हमने पवित्र आत्मा का ‘सत्य का आत्मा’ होने के बारे में देखा है; और फिर उसके बाद सीखा था कि क्यों सँसार उसे जान नहीं सकता है, ग्रहण नहीं कर सकता है, लेकिन मसीही विश्वासी उसे जान सकता है क्योंकि वह उस में निवास करता है।

हमने देखा है कि विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा होने का प्रमाण है विश्वासी के जीवन में दिखने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभाव, उसके जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा लाए गए बदलाव। इन प्रभावों में से एक है विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल को पवित्र आत्मा से सीखना। किन्तु विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा के होते हुए, और पवित्र आत्मा के उसे सिखाने का इच्छुक होने पर भी, बहुधा विश्वासियों को पवित्र आत्मा से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने में काफी कठिनाइयों का सामना करना पड़ता है। और इसलिए विश्वासी अकसर मनुष्यों और पुस्तकों से वचन सीखने की ओर मुड़ जाते हैं, जो उन्हें बाइबल के बाहर की और गलत शिक्षाओं में पड़ जाने के खतरे में डाल देता है। हम ने देखा था कि विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा से न सीख पाने के मुख्यतः तीन कारण हैं। इन तीनों में से हम पहले कारण, विश्वासी में परमेश्वर के वचन का पर्याप्त संग्रह अथवा भण्डार न होना जिस में से पवित्र आत्मा उसे स्मरण दिला सके – क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा इसी विधि से सिखाता है (यूहन्ना 14:26), को हम देख चुके हैं।

अब हम दूसरे कारण को देख रहे हैं, विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ने और अध्ययन करने में पर्याप्त समय न लगाना। और यह विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन करने के लिए जितना प्रतिबद्ध होना चाहिए, उतना न होने के कारण होता है। पिछले लेख में इस कारण पर विचार करते हुए हम इस बात पर आ कर रुके थे कि पवित्र आत्मा से सीखने के लिए विश्वासी को ‘आत्मा के अनुसार चलना’ (गलतियों 5:16, 25) भी सीखना चाहिए; अर्थात, पवित्र आत्मा के कहे के प्रति संवेदनशील और आज्ञाकारी भी होना चाहिए। इस दूसरे कारण के दोनों भाग – परमेश्वर के वचन को पर्याप्त पढ़ना और अध्ययन नहीं करना, तथा पवित्र आत्मा के निर्देशों का पालन करने के लिए उचित रीति से प्रतिबद्ध नहीं होना, आपस में जुड़े हुए हैं और एक-दूसरे पर निर्भर हैं। विश्वासी जितना अधिक परमेश्वर के वचन को पढ़ेगा और सीखेगा, वह पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति उतना अधिक प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी होगा, अर्थात, वह उतना अधिक ‘आत्मा के अनुसार’ चलने वाला बन जाएगा। और वह जितना अधिक प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी होगा, वह जितना अधिक ‘आत्मा के अनुसार’ चलने वाला बनेगा, पवित्र आत्मा भी उसे उतना ही अधिक परमेश्वर के वचन को सिखाएगा, तथा वचन में विश्वासी की रुचि उतनी अधिक बढ़ती जाएगी। इस प्रकार से, एक चक्र के समान, एक भाग दूसरे को दृढ़ और उन्नत करता चला जाता है।

विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध और आज्ञाकारी न रहने का एक और कारण है उसका सँसार की बातों में फँसे रहना। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में प्रेरित पतरस ने मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखा है, “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके। नये जन्मे हुए बच्‍चों के समान निर्मल आत्मिक दूध की लालसा करो, ताकि उसके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के लिये बढ़ते जाओ” (1 पतरस 2:1-2)। दूसरे शब्दों में, निर्मल आत्मिक दूध के द्वारा बढ़ने के लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि पहले विश्वासी अपने रवैये और जीवन-शैली में बदलाव लाए – “सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके” सँसार से बिल्कुल भिन्न हो जाए। प्रेरित पौलुस ने भी इसी बात पर 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3 में बल दिया; उसने इस प्रकार के व्यवहार में बने रहने वाले विश्वासियों को शारीरिक कहा। इस बालकों के समान व्यवहार के कारण वे ठोस आत्मिक भोजन, अर्थात परिपक्व आत्मिक शिक्षाएँ ग्रहण कर पाने में असमर्थ थे; और उन्हें बच्चों का ही भोजन, अर्थात बिल्कुल आरंभिक शिक्षाएँ ही दी जा सकती थीं। पौलुस ने रोमियों 12:2 में भी इस बात पर ओर दिया कि परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने के लिये यह परिवर्तन होना अनिवार्य है।

1 पतरस 2:1 की एक और ध्यान देने योग्य बात है कि पतरस पवित्र आत्मा के द्वरा मसीही विश्वासियों को यह लिख रहा है कि उन्हें ही स्वयं इन बुरे साँसारिक रवैयों और बातों को अपने से दूर करना होगा, कोई और उन के लिए यह कर के नहीं देगा। पवित्र आत्मा यह करने में उनकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन करेगा, लेकिन उनके स्थान पर उनके लिए इसे नहीं करेगा – पिछले लेखों से ध्यान कीजिए, वह उनका सहायक और मार्गदर्शक है, उनके स्थान पर काम करने वाला या उनका सेवक नहीं है। विश्वासियों को इस परिवर्तन को लाने के लिए स्वयं ही पहल करनी होगी, प्रयास करने होंगे, दृढ़ निश्चय बने रहना होगा। और जब वे दृढ़ निश्चय होकर उस के लिए उचित कदम उठाते हैं, तब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा इन बाधाओं पर जयवंत होने और उन्हें हटाने में उनका सहायक होगा, मार्गदर्शन करेगा, जिस से वे परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखें, आत्मिक उन्नति करें, और परिपक्व हों।

मसीही विश्वासी को इस बात का एहसास रखना है कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने, नया-जन्म प्राप्त करने के बाद से अब वे एक पूर्णतः नई सृष्टि बन गए है, “सो यदि कोई मसीह में है तो वह नई सृष्‍टि है: पुरानी बातें बीत गई हैं; देखो, वे सब नई हो गईं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 5:17)। इसलिए विश्वासी अब पुराने जीवन की बातों के साथ बना नहीं रह सकता है। यदि वह बना रहेगा, तो वे उसकी आत्मिक बढ़ोतरी में बाधा बनेंगी, और परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिए गए शिक्षक से परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने नहीं देंगी। पुराने जीवन की बातों को छोड़ कर नए जीवन के अनुसार जीने का उपाय है सँसार के लोगों और बातों के साथ संबंध को काट लेना। और फिर, उस समय को परमेश्वर का वचन सीखने, परमेश्वर का कार्य करने, और परमेश्वर के लोगों की संगति में रहने में बिताना।

अगले लेख में हम उस तीसरे कारण को देखना आरंभ करेंगे जो मसीही विश्वासी के पवित्र आत्मा से वचन को सीखने में बाधा डालता है, अर्थात, उन्होंने मनुष्यों से जो शिक्षाएँ पाई हैं और जिन शिक्षाओं पर वे भरोसा रखते आए हैं, उन्हीं में पवित्र आत्मा से मिली शिक्षाओं को मिलाने का प्रयास करना।

Learning From the Holy Spirit – 4

 

The Born-Again Christian Believer is also the steward of the Holy Spirit, given to him by God at the very moment of his salvation. The Holy Spirit is given to be his Helper, Companion, Teacher, and Guide for his Christian living and ministry. Therefore, to utilize the Holy Spirit’s services worthily, the Believer must learn about Him from God’s Word, to avoid being misled by false teachings and wrong doctrines so prevalent about the Holy Spirit. We are doing this through studying the teachings about the Holy Spirit given by the Lord Jesus in John chapters 14 to 16. Presently we are learning from John 14:17, and there we have seen about the Holy Spirit being ‘The Spirit of Truth’; and then we have learnt about why the world cannot know and receive Him, but the Christian Believer can know Him since He resides in him.

We have seen that the proof of the Holy Spirit being present in the Believer are the effects that He produces, the changes that the Holy Spirit brings about, in the Believer’s life. One of these effects is that the Believer learns God’s Word, the Bible, from the Holy Spirit. But despite the Holy Spirit being present in the Christian Believers and wanting to teach them, they still face considerable problems in properly learning God’s Word from Him. Therefore, the Believers often resort to learning from men and books, which makes them prone to learning unBiblical things as well. We had seen that there are three main reasons for the Believer not being able to learn from God the Holy Spirit present in him. Of these three reasons, we have seen the first, i.e., the Believer not creating and maintaining a ‘stock’ or repository of God’s Word within him. This stock is essential for the Holy Spirit to be able to bring things written in God’s Word to the Believer’s remembrance – since that is how the Holy Spirit teaches the Believers (John 14:26).

We are now looking at the second reason, the Believer’s not giving adequate time to read and study God’s Word. This usually is due to the Believer’s not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit. In the last article, while considering this second reason, we had stopped at the point that to learn from the Holy Spirit, the Believer also must learn to ‘walk in the Spirit’ (Galatians 5:16, 25); i.e., learn to be sensitive and obedient to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. The two components of this second reason – not reading and studying enough of God’s Word, and not being committed enough to follow and obey the instructions of the Holy Spirit, are inter-linked and inter-dependent. The more the Believer reads and studies God’s Word, the more committed and obedient he will become to the Holy Spirit, i.e., the better he will ‘walk in the Spirit.’ The more committed and obedient he is to the Holy Spirit, i.e., the better he ‘walks in the Spirit’, the more the Holy Spirit will teach God’s Word to him, and the more interest he will develop in it. So, cyclically, one component will keep strengthening and promoting the other.

Another reason why the Believer does not remain committed and obedient to the Holy Spirit is his remaining entangled in the things of the world. The Apostle Peter, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, has written to the Christian Believers “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2). In other words, for the Believer to grow by the pure milk of the Word, the preliminary condition is a changed attitude and life-style – “laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking”, he must become absolutely unlike the world. The Apostle Paul too emphasized on this in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3; calling the Believers still persisting in this kind of behaviour as ‘carnal.’ Because of this child-like behavior, they were unable to receive solid spiritual food, i.e., more mature spiritual teachings, and had to be fed only milk – the food of the babies, i.e., the very basic spiritual teachings. Paul also emphasized in Romans 12:2 that this transformation was essential to know the will of God.

 

Another thing to be noted from 1 Peter 2:1 is that Peter through the Holy Spirit is writing to the Believers that it is they themselves who have to lay aside these bad, worldly attitudes; no one else is going to do it for them. The Holy Spirit will help and guide them in it, but will not do it for them – remember from the earlier articles, He is their Helper and Guide, not their substitute or servant. To bring about this transformation, the Believers have to take the initiative, make the efforts, be resolute. As they take determined steps about it, God the Holy Spirit will help and guide them overcome and remove these impediments in their learning of God's Word, grow spiritually, and mature.

The Christian Believer must realize that having accepted the Lord Jesus as savior, having been Born-Again, now he is a totally new creation, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). Therefore, the Believer cannot be carrying with him the old things. If he does, they will hamper his spiritual growth, and not let him learn God’s Word from his God given Teacher – the Holy Spirit. The way to step away from the past and live according to the new life is by cutting off the time with the people and things of the world. Then, using that time in learning God’s Word, doing God’s work, and being in the company of God’s people.

In the next article we will begin looking at the third reason that obstructs the believer from learning God’s Word, i.e., their wanting to mix up man’s teachings that they have received and rely upon, with the teachings given by the Holy Spirit to them.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

पीछे के लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु के लोगों में परमेश्वर के वचन से संबंधित पाँच प्रकार की ठीक से और निरंतर की जाने वाली सेवकाइयों के द्वारा ही मसीही विश्वासियों के मसीही जीवनों में और साथ ही प्रभु की कलीसिया की उन्नति होती है; वे परिपक्वता में अग्रसर होते रहते हैं, और प्रभु परमेश्वर की महिमा का कारण ठहरते हैं। किन्तु यदि किसी कारणवश व्यक्ति प्रेरितों 2:42 में दिए गए मसीही और कलीसिया के जीवन के चार स्तंभों, वचन की शिक्षा, मसीही विश्वासियों की संगति, सामूहिक एवं व्यक्तिगत प्रार्थना का जीवन, और प्रभु की मेज़ में नियमित सम्मिलित होने में शिथिल अथवा लापरवाह हो जाए, या कमज़ोर पड़ जाए तो उसका आत्मिक विकास बाधित हो जाता है, वह आत्मिक परिपक्वता में नहीं बढ़ने पाता है, उसका आत्मिक जीवन प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी हो जाता है, और उसके जीवन से प्रभु को महिमा नहीं मिलती है। पिछले लेख में हमने यह भी देखा था कि मसीही विश्वास में आने के बाद लोग आत्मिक शिशु-अवस्था से निकलकर आत्मिक बालक-अवस्था में आकर क्यों अटक जाते हैं - परमेश्वर पिता और उनकी अपने बच्चों के लिए देखभाल पर उनके अधूरे विश्वास, और उसके अंतर्गत पिता परमेश्वर की बजाए अपने ऊपर तथा स्वयं के प्रयासों पर भरोसा रखने के कारण! इस कारण उनका आत्मिक जीवन या तो एक स्तर पर रुका रह जाता है, या बहुत धीमे बढ़ता है; और जो कुछ भी वो कमाते हैं वह बहुत परिश्रम और थकान के साथ कमाते हैं। साथ ही इसके लिए उन्हें एक बड़ी कीमत भी चुकानी पड़ती है, अपने पारिवारिक संबंधों तथा अपने स्वास्थ्य को लेकर; साथ ही वे अपने आप को परमेश्वर की आशीषों और देखभाल से भी वंचित कर लेते हैं। तौ भी, जो वो कमाते हैं, उसका वैसा आनन्द नहीं लेने पाते हैं, जैसी कि उन्होंने अपेक्षा की थी।

जैसा हमने पिछले लेख में देखा है, इफिसियों 4:14 ताकि हम आगे को बालक न रहें, जो मनुष्यों की ठग-विद्या और चतुराई से उन के भ्रम की युक्तियों की, और उपदेश की, हर एक बयार से उछाले, और इधर-उधर घुमाए जाते हों में चार प्रकार की हानिकारक बातें दी गई हैं। मसीही विश्वासियों एवं कलीसिया में सेवकाई के लिए नियुक्त सेवकों द्वारा, की गई वचन की अप्रभावी सेवकाई के कारण आए आत्मिक कुपोषण के कारण, ये चार प्रकार की बातें बहुधा आत्मिक रीति से दुर्बल व्यक्तियों एवं कलीसिया में घर कर जाती हैं। इनमें से पहली बात है बालक के समान व्यवहार, विचार, और दृष्टिकोण रखना; अर्थात अपरिपक्व होना। शेष तीन बातें इन बालक समान, या अपरिपक्व लोगों में देखने को मिलती हैं। ये अपरिपक्व मसीही बालक, विभिन्न प्रकार के विचारों की “बयार से उछाले, और इधर-उधर घुमाए जाते” हैं; अर्थात सूखे पत्तों या हल्की सी किसी ऐसी वस्तु के समान हो जाते हैं जो हल्की सी भी हवा के झोंके से एक से दूसरे स्थान पर उड़ा दिए जाएं। उनमें कोई आत्मिक स्थिरता एवं दृढ़ता, वचन की सही शिक्षाओं की समझ, मसीही विश्वास की आधारभूत बातों की जानकारी नहीं होती है। बेरिया के विश्वासियों (प्रेरितों 17:11) के विपरीत, यदि कोई भी प्रचारक आकर मसीह या परमेश्वर के नाम में कुछ भी उलटा-सीधा किन्तु आकर्षक और मनोहर रीति से कह देता है, उसे ये बालक समान अपरिपक्व लोग बिना जाँचे-परखे स्वीकार कर लेते हैं, गलत शिक्षाओं में तुरंत ही बहक और भटक जाते हैं, एक से दूसरे प्रचारक, मत, समुदाय, डिनॉमिनेशन आदि में “उछाले, और इधर-उधर घुमाए जाते” हैं। समझ और विश्वास में इस प्रकार अपरिपक्व तथा बालक बने रहना परमेश्वर के वचन और इच्छा के विरुद्ध है, “हे भाइयो, तुम समझ में बालक न बनो: तौभी बुराई में तो बालक रहो, परन्तु समझ में सयाने बनो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 14:20)।

परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल में दो स्थानों पर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने इस आत्मिक बालक अवस्था, अर्थात आत्मिक परिपक्वता के लक्षण बताए हैं, जिससे मसीही विश्वासी अपने जीवनों में झांक कर अपनी आत्मिक परिपक्वता की दशा को देख लें। आज हम बाइबल दिए गए, और वहाँ लिखे लक्षणों को देखेंगे:

1. हे भाइयों, मैं तुम से इस रीति से बातें न कर सका, जैसे आत्मिक लोगों से; परन्तु जैसे शारीरिक लोगों से, और उन से जो मसीह में बालक हैं। मैं ने तुम्हें दूध पिलाया, अन्न न खिलाया; क्योंकि तुम उसको न खा सकते थे; वरन अब तक भी नहीं खा सकते हो। क्योंकि अब तक शारीरिक हो, इसलिये, कि जब तुम में डाह और झगड़ा है, तो क्या तुम शारीरिक नहीं? और मनुष्य की रीति पर नहीं चलते? इसलिये कि जब एक कहता है, कि मैं पौलुस का हूं, और दूसरा कि मैं अपुल्लोस का हूं, तो क्या तुम मनुष्य नहीं? (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-4)।

यहाँ पर दिए गए इस बालक अवस्था के, अपरिपक्वता के, लक्षण हैं:

* उनसे परिपक्व आत्मिक लोगों के समान आत्मिक बात-चीत नहीं की जा सकती है; वे उसे समझ नहीं पाते हैं, ग्रहण नहीं करने पाते हैं।

* वे शारीरिक या सांसारिक लोगों के समान की गई बात-चीत को ही समझने और ग्रहण करने पाते हैं। 

* वे बाइबल की ठोस शिक्षाओं, मसीही विश्वास और जीवन आदि की उन्नत तथा गूढ़ बातों को समझ नहीं पाते हैं, न उनका पालन, और न ही उन्हें अपने जीवन में लागू करने पाते हैं।

* उनमें डाह और झगड़ा, अर्थात अहंकार, दूसरों के साथ तुलना करते रहना, अपने आप को ऊंचा और दूसरों को नीचा दिखाने की प्रवृत्ति, क्षमा न करना, सहनशीलता, नम्रता और दीनता का व्यवहार न रखना, आदि बातें बनी रहती हैं।

* वे बाइबल की सही शिक्षाओं पर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के चलाए नहीं चलते; वरन मनुष्यों, संस्थाओं, मानवीय मतों, समुदायों, और डिनॉमिनेशंस के नियमों के अनुसार, जहाँ से भी उन्हें भौतिक लाभ मिले, वे उसी के अनुसार चलते और जीवन जीते हैं।

* उनमें मनुष्यों को महत्व देने, उन्हें अपना आदर्श बनाकर मनुष्यों के अनुसार चलने, और इस बात को लेकर औरों के साथ, जो उनके पसंदीदा आदर्श मनुष्यों को उनके समान ओहदा और आदर नहीं देते हैं, मतभेद और टकराव रखने की प्रवृत्ति देखने को मिलती है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:10-12)।

दूसरे स्थान पर दी गई बातों को हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे.

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Thinking and Behaving like a Child (1)

    We have seen in the previous articles that consequent to worthily and continually carrying out five kinds of ministries given in Ephesians 4:11, the Christian Believers and the Church are edified, grow continually, and mature spiritually, bringing glory and honor to God. But if for some reason, a person or Church becomes careless and casual about steadfastly being obedient to the four pillars of Christian Life given in Acts 2:42 - Bible Study, Fellowship with Believers, Prayers - individual and as a Church, worthily and properly participating in the Holy Communion, then his spiritual growth is adversely affected, he stops maturing spiritually, his life no longer remains useful for the Lord and ceases to glorify God. In the previous article we had seen why most Believers after coming out of spiritual-infancy, get stuck in their spiritual childhood, stop growing spiritually any more - because of their incomplete trust or lack of trust in God’s intention and ability to look after them and provide for the needs of His spiritual children. Therefore, instead of trusting God, they start falling back upon their own abilities, efforts, other people, and the ways of the world to accomplish or achieve their desires. So, while they may gain materially and physically, but they end up losing God’s care and blessings, their spiritual growth either stagnates or gets stunted, and whatever they do gain materially, is through much toil and labor, often at the cost of other things, especially family life and their own health, and never get to enjoy it as they had expected to do.

As we have seen in the previous article, in Ephesians 4:14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting are given four causes of spiritual immaturity. Due to an improper and inadequate ministry of God’s Word amongst the Christian Believers and the Churches, there is spiritual malnourishment and weakness. Therefore, these four harmful things often get the chance to settle into them. The first amongst these four is behaving like children, i.e., being spiritually immature. The next three are seen in those who live and behave immaturely like children. These spiritually immature and child-like people get “tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine”; i.e., they become light-weight and unstable like dried up leaves, that can easily be blown around by even a light breeze. They have no spiritual stand or firmness, because they have no proper understanding about God’s Word and the basic, foundational truths of Christian Faith. Unlike the Christian Believers of Berea (Acts 17:11), any Christian preacher who comes and preaches anything in the name of the Lord Jesus and God, attractively and in a pleasant or appealing manner, these child-like Believers, without examining and evaluating it, readily accept it all, and are very easily carried away in wrong doctrines and false teachings. They keep getting tossed around from one preacher to another, from one group, sect, or denomination, to another. To be like immature children is against the will and Word of God, Brethren, do not be children in understanding; however, in malice be babes, but in understanding be mature. (1 Corinthians 14:20).

In God’s Word the Bible, God the Holy Spirit has given the characteristics of these children, i.e., spiritually immature people at two places, so that all Christian Believers can today look at and examine their lives on their basis and ascertain the state of their own spiritual maturity. Today we will see the first of these, and the characteristics given there in the Bible:

    1. And I, brethren, could not speak to you as to spiritual people but as to carnal, as to babes in Christ. I fed you with milk and not with solid food; for until now you were not able to receive it, and even now you are still not able; for you are still carnal. For where there are envy, strife, and divisions among you, are you not carnal and behaving like mere men? For when one says, "I am of Paul," and another, "I am of Apollos," are you not carnal? (1 Corinthians 3:1-4).

The signs and indicators of immaturity and being child-like, given here are:

* One cannot speak or converse with them regarding spiritual things, as can be done with mature people. They are unable to understand those things, are unable to accept them.

* They can only understand and accept the carnal things of the world, and what is said in a worldly manner.

* They are neither able to utilize the “solid food”, i.e., understand the deeper things of God’s Word and the advanced things of the Christian Faith and life, nor apply them in their lives, obey them, or live by them.

* They have envy, strife, divisions, comparisons with others, etc. in their fellowship and lives. They have the tendency of showing themselves better than the others and others as lesser than them. Patience, forbearance, humility, putting up with others, etc. is either hardly ever seen, or seen very little.

* They do not walk according to the correct teachings of the Bible in the guidance of the Holy Spirit; instead, their Christian living is dictated and determined by rules and regulations determined by people, human organizations man-made groups, sects, and denominations etc.; and they keep shifting to wherever they can get better temporal benefits, and live accordingly.

* They have a tendency of giving importance to other men, putting up other human beings as their role models and then emulating them; because of this they have conflicts and differences of opinion with others who do not look up to their human role-models (1 Corinthians 1:10-12).

We will look into the second one in the next article.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.
