    पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु-भोज में भाग लेने से मसीही विश्वासियों पर लागू हो जाने वाली ज़िम्मेदारियों को देखते हुए, यह देखा था कि परमेश्वर के साथ उसके प्रेम और देखभाल में बने रहने के लिये, उसकी आशीषों का लाभ और आनन्द लेने के लिये, मसीही विश्वासियों को स्वयं को संसार और संसार की बातों से अलग करना कितना अनिवार्य है। मसीही विश्वासी, संसार तथा स्वर्ग, दोनों के साथ निर्वाह नहीं कर सकता है, उसे दोनों में से किसी एक को चुनना ही होगा। आज हम इसी बात को, बाइबल के दो अन्य उदाहरणों से देखेंगे और समझेंगे।

    संसार के साथ मिलकर रहना, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए कितना हानिकारक हो सकता है, इसका अंदाज़ा हम पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा याकूब से लिखवाई बात से समझ सकते हैं। मसीही विश्वासियों को लिखी उसकी पत्री में से याकूब 4:1-4 को देखिए, और विशेषकर पद 4 पर ध्यान कीजिए, जहाँ लिखा है, “हे व्यभिचारिणयों, क्या तुम नहीं जानतीं, कि संसार से मित्रता करनी परमेश्वर से बैर करना है सो जो कोई संसार का मित्र होना चाहता है, वह अपने आप को परमेश्वर का बैरी बनाता है।” यहाँ जिस शब्द का अनुवाद “बैरी” किया गया है, मूल यूनानी भाषा में उसका अर्थ है घिनौना, अर्थात, नापसन्द या अस्वीकार्य। दूसरे शब्दों में, जो विश्वासी संसार के साथ मित्रता चाहता है और उससे संबंध में बना रहता है, यह करने के द्वारा वह अपने लिए इस बात को निश्चित कर लेता है कि परमेश्वर उसे नापसन्द करे, उसमें रुचि न ले।

    प्रेरित यूहन्ना के द्वारा, पवित्र आत्मा संसार से प्रेम करने और उसके साथ बने रहने के एक और पहलू को दिखाता है, “तुम न तो संसार से और न संसार में की वस्तुओं से प्रेम रखो: यदि कोई संसार से प्रेम रखता है, तो उस में पिता का प्रेम नहीं है” (1 यूहन्ना 2:15)। यह वही बात है जिसे प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने पहाड़ी संदेश में, मत्ती 6:24 में कहा था, “कोई मनुष्य दो स्वामियों की सेवा नहीं कर सकता, क्योंकि वह एक से बैर ओर दूसरे से प्रेम रखेगा, वा एक से मिला रहेगा और दूसरे को तुच्छ जानेगा; तुम परमेश्वर और धन दोनों की सेवा नहीं कर सकते।” जो संसार और सांसारिक बातों के प्रेम में बने ही रहते हैं, वे अप्रत्यक्ष रीति से इस बात को स्वीकार कर रहे हैं और दर्शा रहे हैं कि वे प्रभु परमेश्वर से प्रेम नहीं करते हैं।

    इनके अतिरिक्त भी नए नियम के अन्य उदाहरण हैं, तथा पुराने नियम में भी और बहुत से उदाहरण हैं जो दिखाते हैं कि परमेश्वर हमेशा ही यही चाहता रहा है कि उसके लोग संसार से अलगाव का जीवन जीएं; और यदि वे ऐसा नहीं करते हैं, तो उनके जीवनों में कैसे हानिकारक प्रभाव आ जाते हैं। कुल मिलाकर निष्कर्ष यही है कि संसार से अलगाव का जीवन जीना मसीही विश्वासी का एक महत्वपूर्ण गुण है। प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के द्वारा वह इस ज़िम्मेदारी को अपने ऊपर ले लेता है कि वह प्रभु से तो जुड़ा हुआ परंतु संसार से अलग होकर रहेगा। यह मसीही विश्वासी के हित की बात है कि वह ऐसा करे; क्योंकि परमेश्वर के निर्देशों की अनदेखी करना, अनाज्ञाकारिता करना, मुसीबत को दावत देना है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 5:29; 30:15-20)।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते रहे हैं, तो कृपया अपने जीवन को जाँच कर देख लें कि आप वास्तव में पापों से छुड़ाए गए हैं तथा आप ने अपना जीवन प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता में जीने के लिए उस को समर्पित किया है। आपके लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर के वचन की सही शिक्षाओं को जानने के द्वारा एक परिपक्व विश्वासी बनें, तथा सभी शिक्षाओं को वचन की कसौटी पर परखने, और बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान, लोगों की बातों को पहले वचन से जाँचने और उनकी सत्यता को निश्चित करने के बाद ही उनको स्वीकार करने और मानने वाले बनें (प्रेरितों 17:11; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21)। अन्यथा शैतान द्वारा छोड़े हुए झूठे प्रेरित और भविष्यद्वक्ता मसीह के सेवक बन कर (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:13-15) अपनी ठग विद्या और चतुराई से आपको प्रभु के लिए अप्रभावी कर देंगे और आप के मसीही जीवन एवं आशीषों का नाश कर देंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

    In the previous article, while considering the responsibilities that become necessary for the Christian Believers by participating in the Holy Communion, we had seen that to enjoy the fellowship of God, His love and care, it is mandatory that the Christian Believers separate themselves from the world, and the things of the world. The Christian Believer, cannot live with both, the world and the things of the world; he must choose either one of them. Today we will see and understand this further, through two examples from the Bible.

    We can understand how damaging this living with the world can be for the Christian Believer can be from what the Holy Spirit says through James. In his letter to the Believers, see from James 4:1-4, and particularly take note of verse 4, “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” The word translated as “enemy” in English, in the original Greek language means being odious, i.e., repulsive or unacceptable to God. In other words, the Believer who desires and lives as a friend of the world, by doing so also ensures that God dislikes him, does not look favorably towards him.

    Through the Apostle John, the Holy Spirit presents another aspect of loving the world, and living with it, “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him” (1 John 2:15). This is the same as what the Lord Jesus had said in His Sermon of the Mount, in Matthew 6:24, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Those who persist in the love of the world and of worldly things, are indirectly acknowledging and demonstrating that they do not love the Lord God.

    Besides, in the New Testament and in the Old Testament too, there are many more instances and examples of God asking His people to stay away from the world, and of the harmful effects in their lives if they fail to do so. The net conclusion is that separation from the world is an important characteristic of the Christian Believer. By participating in the Holy Communion, he takes upon himself this responsibility of staying joined to the Lord and away from the world. It is to the Christian Believer’s advantage that he does so; because disregarding God’s instructions is an invitation to trouble (Deuteronomy 5:29; 30:15-20).

    If you are a Christian Believer and have been participating in the Lord’s Table, then please examine your life and make sure that you are actually a disciple of the Lord, i.e., are redeemed from your sins, have submitted and surrendered your life to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His Word. You should also always, like the Berean Believers, first check and test all teachings that you receive from the Word of God, and only after ascertaining the truth and veracity of the teachings brought to you by men, should you accept and obey them (Acts 17:11; 1 Thessalonians 5:21). If you do not do this, the false apostles and prophets sent by Satan as ministers of Christ (2 Corinthians 11:13-15), will by their trickery, cunningness, and craftiness render you ineffective for the Lord and cause severe damage to your Christian life and your rewards.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.

    प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से संबंधित कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातों का अध्ययन करते समय, हम 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:16-22 से देख रहे हैं कि भाग लेने वाले पर दो अभिप्राय और एक ज़िम्मेदारी लागू हो जाते हैं। अभिप्राय हैं कि वह इसकी पुष्टि करता तथा दोहराता है कि वह, पहली बात, प्रभु के साथ निकट संबंध में रहता है, और, दूसरी बात, वह अन्य मसीही विश्वासियों के साथ एकता में बना रहता है। उस पर लागू ज़िम्मेदारी है कि उसे संसार और संसार के तौर-तरीकों से, विशेषकर परमेश्वर की उपासना से संबंधित बातों को लेकर, एक अलगाव का जीवन जीना है। पिछले लेख में हमने 1 कुरिन्थियों 10:19-20 से, मसीही विश्वासियों की इस अलगाव के जीवन की ज़िम्मेदारी से संबंधित कुछ बातों को देखा था। आज हम कुछ और बातों को देखेंगे, जो संसार से उसके इस अनिवार्य अलगाव से संबंधित हैं और परमेश्वर के लोगों की ज़िम्मेदारी हैं।

    इसी प्रकार से पौलुस ने पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में लिखते हुए 2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18 में मसीही विश्वासी के अविश्वासियों से अलग रहने पर बहुत ज़ोर दिया है; और यहाँ पद 17-18 में वह बल देकर कहता है कि विश्वासियों के अविश्वासियों में से निकल आने और अलग होकर रहने से ही परमेश्वर उन्हें स्वीकार करेगा, उनके लिए पिता समान होगा, और उनसे अपने पुत्र और पुत्रियों के समान व्यवहार करेगा। यह खण्ड दिखाता है कि पौलुस में होकर पवित्र आत्मा, मसीही विश्वासियों से कह रहा है कि जब तक मसीही विश्वासी अपने आप को संसार और उसकी बातों से अलग नहीं कर लेता है, तब तक वह कभी भी अपने स्वर्गीय पिता की देखभाल, उनके लिए तैयार विशेषाधिकारों, और आशीषों को अनुभव नहीं कर सकता है। उड़ाऊ पुत्र, जब अपने आप को उस बाहर की गंदगी से, जिसमें वह चला गया था, अलग करके पिता के पास लौट आया, तब ही वह पिता के प्रेम और आशीषों के आनन्द को अनुभव करने पाया। परमेश्वर पिता इस प्रतीक्षा में है कि मसीही विश्वासी इस बात को समझें, इसका एहसास करें, और अपने मसीही जीवन के लिए इस अनिवार्यता पर कार्यवाही करें। सामान्य प्रवृत्ति यही होती है कि विश्वासी यही चाहता है कि परमेश्वर उसे हर प्रकार से आशीषित करे, परंतु उस विश्वासी को इन स्वर्गीय आशीषों और विशेषाधिकारों के लिए कोई कीमत न चुकानी पड़े। लोग दोनों ओर से मुफ्त में सभी बातों का आनन्द लेना चाहते हैं, अर्थात, संसार और उसकी बातों का आनन्द भी लेते रहें, और उन्हें परमेश्वर की देखभाल और सुरक्षा भी उपलब्ध रहे। सामान्यतः लोग इस बात को समझने और मानने के लिए तैयार नहीं होते हैं कि उन्हें संसार अथवा परमेश्वर में से किसी एक को चुनना ही होगा; उन्हें दोनों ही नहीं मिल सकते हैं, जैसा कि अगले दो उदाहरणों से भी प्रकट है, जिन्हें हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

Responsibility Because of Participation (3)

    While studying some important things related to participating in the Lord’s Table, we have been seeing from 1 Corinthians 10:16-22, that there are two implications and one responsibility that become necessary upon the participant. The implications are that he affirms and renews that, firstly, he is living in close fellowship with the Lord, and secondly, that he lives in unity with the Christian Believers. The responsibility binding upon him because of partaking of the Lord’s Table is that he has to live separated from the world, and the ways of the world, particularly about things related to God’s worship. We had seen some aspects about this responsibility of staying separated, in the previous article from 1 Corinthians 10:19-20. Today we will look at some other aspects of this essential separation from the world, that are the responsibility of the people of God.

    In Acts 2, after Peter’s preaching with the power of the Holy Spirit, when of the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem, 3000 repented and asked the disciples what they should do next, Peter tells them the steps they need to take (Acts 2:37-40). Here, in verse 40 Peter says to them, “And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, Be saved from this perverse generation” - through many words he asked them to save themselves, i.e., to separate themselves from the perverse generation they were living amongst. The very fact that Peter used “many words” to explain and inform about this, and “exhorted” them about it, indicates the importance of this for Christian Faith and living, from the very moment of a person coming to faith in Christ Jesus and submitting his life to Him. Also note that Peter does not say to them that God will do this for them in the days to come. But he puts the responsibility upon them to take this step, and this serves as a practical lesson of living by 2 Corinthians 5:15 for the Christian Believers.

    Similarly, Paul, writing under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, in 2 Corinthians 6:14-18 strongly emphasizes the necessity of this separation between the Believers and the unbelievers; and in verses 17-18 emphasizes that it will be through their coming out and being separate from the unbelievers that God will accept them, will be a Father to them, and treat them as His sons and daughters. This passage shows that through Paul, the Holy Spirit is saying that unless the Christian Believer separates himself from the world and its ways, he can never experience the care, privileges, and blessings of his heavenly Father. The Prodigal Son could experience and enjoy the love and the blessings of the father, only after he had separated himself from the outside filth that he had gone into, and returned to his father. God the Father is waiting for the Christian Believers to understand, realize, and act on this necessity for their Christian life. The normal tendency is for the Believer to expect God to bless him in every way possible, but without the Believer having to pay any price for the heavenly blessings and privileges. People want to have the best of both worlds freely, i.e., enjoy the pleasures and ways of the world, as well as have God’s care and protection. People are usually not willing to realize and accept that they will have to choose between the world and God; they cannot have them both, as is evident from the next two examples, which we will see in the next article.

सुसमाचारों में दिए गए प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य के गुणों में से यह पाँचवाँ गुण, पहले कहे गए दूसरे गुण के समान, शिष्य, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासी में एक अलगाव की माँग करता है। प्रभु यीशु ने कहा, इसी रीति से तुम में से जो कोई अपना सब कुछ त्याग न दे, तो वह मेरा चेला नहीं हो सकता (लूका 14:33)। मसीही विश्वासी का दूसरा गुण पारिवारिक संबंधों में अलगाव की माँग करता है, और यह पाँचवाँ गुण, प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में शिष्य द्वारा भौतिक, या सांसारिक और नश्वर वस्तुओं से अलगाव से की माँग करता है। इसी गुण के एक दूसरा स्वरूप पर नए नियम में काफी ज़ोर दिया गया है, पत्रियों में उसे बहुधा दोहराया गया है - अपने आप को संसार में परदेशी और यात्री जानकर संसार की बातों के मोह में पड़ने से बचे रहना (इब्रानियों 11:13; 1 पतरस 2:11)। यूहन्ना और याकूब ने तो पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में यहाँ तक लिखा है कि भौतिक या सांसारिक बातों से प्रेम रखना, स्वतः और अनिवार्यतः व्यक्ति में परमेश्वर के प्रति प्रेम न होने का सूचक है, उसको परमेश्वर का बैरी बना देता है; उनके द्वारा लिखे पदों को देखें:

* “तुम न तो संसार से और न संसार में की वस्‍तुओं से प्रेम रखो: यदि कोई संसार से प्रेम रखता है, तो उस में पिता का प्रेम नहीं है। क्योंकि जो कुछ संसार में है, अर्थात शरीर की अभिलाषा, और आंखों की अभिलाषा और जीविका का घमण्‍ड, वह पिता की ओर से नहीं, परन्तु संसार ही की ओर से है। और संसार और उस की अभिलाषाएं दोनों मिटते जाते हैं, पर जो परमेश्वर की इच्छा पर चलता है, वह सर्वदा बना रहेगा” (1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17)।

* “हे व्यभिचारिणयों, क्या तुम नहीं जानतीं, कि संसार से मित्रता करनी परमेश्वर से बैर करना है सो जो कोई संसार का मित्र होना चाहता है, वह अपने आप को परमेश्वर का बैरी बनाता है” (याकूब 4:4)।

जब प्रभु ने अपने आरंभिक शिष्यों को बुलाया, तो वे तुरन्त अपने व्यवसाय, अपने परिवार आदि को छोड़ कर प्रभु के पीछे हो लिए: वे तुरन्त नाव और अपने पिता को छोड़कर उसके पीछे हो लिए” (मत्ती 4:22); “और व नावों को किनारे पर ले आए और सब कुछ छोड़कर उसके पीछे हो लिए (लूका 5:11); वहां से आगे बढ़कर यीशु ने मत्ती नाम एक मनुष्य को महसूल की चौकी पर बैठे देखा, और उस से कहा, मेरे पीछे हो ले। वह उठ कर उसके पीछे हो लिया (मत्ती 9:9)। जब एक व्यक्ति ने प्रभु से उसका शिष्य बनने की इच्छा व्यक्त की, जब वे मार्ग में चले जाते थे, तो किसी न उस से कहा, जहां जहां तू जाएगा, मैं तेरे पीछे हो लूंगा। यीशु ने उस से कहा, लोमड़िय़ों के भट और आकाश के पक्षियों के बसेरे होते हैं, पर मनुष्य के पुत्र को सिर धरने की भी जगह नहीं (लूका 9:57-58) - अर्थात प्रभु के पीछे चलने के लिए इस अनिश्चितता को स्वीकार करके चलना होगा कि यह आवश्यक नहीं है कि इस सेवकाई में रहने के लिए स्थान और खाने के लिए भोजन मिलेगा। जब, जो, जैसा मिल जाए, उसे ही स्वीकार करके प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए कार्य में लगे ही रहना है। पौलुस ने तिमुथियुस को लिखा, पर तू सब बातों में सावधान रह, दुख उठा, सुसमाचार प्रचार का काम कर और अपनी सेवा को पूरा कर (2 तीमुथियुस 4:5)। लेकिन जो यह सब जानते हुए, इन बातों को स्वीकार करते हुए, प्रभु के पीछे चल निकले थे, अपने उन ड़िशिष्यों को प्रभु यीशु ने प्रतिज्ञा दी, यीशु ने कहा, मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, कि ऐसा कोई नहीं, जिसने मेरे और सुसमाचार के लिये घर या भाइयों या बहिनों या माता या पिता या लड़के-बालों या खेतों को छोड़ दिया हो। और अब इस समय सौ गुणा न पाए, घरों और भाइयों और बहिनों और माताओं और लड़के-बालों और खेतों को पर उपद्रव के साथ और परलोक में अनन्त जीवन (मरकुस 10:29-30)।

प्रभु यीशु द्वारा दिए गए बीज बोने वाले के दृष्टांत को स्मरण करें (मत्ती 13:3-9)। यहाँ पर तीसरी प्रकार की भूमि, झाड़ियों के स्थान, पर गिरने और उगने वाला बीज वह है जो उगा और बढ़ा, किन्तु संसार की बातों और धन के धोखे ने उसे दबा कर निष्फल कर दिया जो झाड़ियों में बोया गया, यह वह है, जो वचन को सुनता है, पर इस संसार की चिन्‍ता और धन का धोखा वचन को दबाता है, और वह फल नहीं लाता (मत्ती 13:22)। जो धनी जवान व्यक्ति (मत्ती 19:16-24) प्रभु के पास अनन्त जीवन का मार्ग प्राप्त करने के लिए आया था, वह निराश और असफल इसलिए लौट गया, क्योंकि वह अपने धन और सांसारिक वस्तुओं से अपने आप को अलग नहीं करने पाया था; वह प्रभु की शिष्यता की यह कीमत नहीं चुकाना चाहता था, और जीवन के जल के सोते के पास आकर भी प्यासा और बिना अनन्त जीवन पाए चला गया।

यदि आप प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य हैं, तो क्या आपने अपने आप को भौतिक, नश्वर सांसारिक बातों के मोह से पृथक किया है? इसका यह अभिप्राय नहीं है कि प्रभु के शिष्य को सन्यासी बनकर विरक्ति का जीवन जीना चाहिए। अभिप्राय यह है कि प्रभु का शिष्य अपने जीवन में प्राथमिक स्थान प्रभु और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता को देता है, न कि सांसारिक उपलब्धियों और महत्वाकांक्षाओं की पूर्ति में लगे रहने को। प्रभु यीशु की शिष्यता के पाँचवें गुण की इस कसौटी पर आज अपने आप को कहाँ खड़ा हुआ पाते हैं? क्या अपने आप को प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य कहना आप के लिए एक औपचारिकता निभाना है, या आप सच्चे मन से उसके समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी शिष्य हैं?

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

English Translation

Christian Believer – Forsakes All for The Lord

The fifth characteristic of a disciple of the Lord Jesus, given in the Gospels is similar to the second characteristic that we have seen earlier, and demands a separation of the Christian Believer. This fifth characteristic demands that the Believer be willing and ready to forsake all for the Lord; the Lord Jesus has said to His disciples, So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple (Luke 14:33). The second characteristic asks for a separation in familial relationships, this fifth characteristic demands a separation from the temporal and worldly, i.e., the perishable things. A lot of emphasis has been placed in the New Testament on a different form of this characteristic, which has often been repeated in the letters - a Christian Believer is to consider himself as a pilgrim and sojourner in this world and avoid getting entangled in the attachment to worldly things (Hebrews 11:13; 1 Peter 2:11). In this context, John and James have gone to the extent of writing that loving the things of this world, by itself is a sure indicator of not loving the Lord God; and this love for the worldly things makes one an enemy of God. Consider what they have written:

* “Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world--the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life--is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever” (1 John 2:15-17).

* “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God” (James 4:4).

When the Lord called His initial disciples, they immediately left their work, business, families to follow the Lord: and immediately they left the boat and their father, and followed Him (Matthew 4:22); As Jesus passed on from there, He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office. And He said to him, "Follow Me." So, he arose and followed Him (Matthew 9:9). Consider the response of the Lord when a person expressed the desire to Him to be His follower, Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go." And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head." (Luke 9:57-58) - in other words, to decide to be a follower of the Lord is to accept the uncertainty that in this ministry there will always be a doubt for availability of a place to stay and food to eat; the follower of Christ should be willing and ready to accept whatever he may get and whenever he may get it, but continue in the ministry nevertheless. Paul wrote to Timothy, But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry (2 Timothy 4:5). To those disciples, who knowing all these things, still decide to accept becoming a follower of the Lord, the Lord also promised that, “So Jesus answered and said, Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands, for My sake and the gospel's, who shall not receive a hundredfold now in this time--houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions--and in the age to come, eternal life (Mark 10:29-30).

Recall the parable given by the Lord Jesus about the Sower of the Seed (Matthew 13:3-9). In this parable, the seed falling in the third kind of soil, the soil with the thorns, is the seed that fell and germinated and started to grow; but the things of the world and the deceitfulness of wealth suppressed it and rendered it fruitless, Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful (Matthew 13:22). The Rich Young Ruler who came to the Lord, seeking the way to eternal life (Matthew 19:16-24), returned disappointed and unsuccessful, since he was unable to separate himself from his wealth and the things of the world; he did not want to pay the price of becoming a follower of Christ Jesus, therefore, having come to the source of the water of life he returned back dejected and as thirsty as he had come, without having received eternal life.

If you are a disciple of the Lord, then have you separated yourself from the temporal and perishing world and its things? This does not mean that the disciple of the Lord Jesus has to totally detach himself from the world and live the life of a hermit or an ascetic. The implication is that the disciple has to give the primary place to the Lord Jesus and to the obedience of His Word; instead of pursuing worldly achievements and desires. Where do you find yourself on the basis of an evaluation based on this fifth characteristic in your life? Is calling yourself a disciple of the Lord merely fulfilling formalities, following of rituals and traditions, and celebrating feasts and festivals for you, or are you actually a committed and obedient disciple of the Lord?

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में अलगाव - कैसे?

पिछले लेखों में हम पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन, पवित्र आत्मा से भर जाने के बाद पतरस द्वारा यरूशलेम में एकत्रित हुए “भक्त यहूदियों” को किए गए सुसमाचार प्रचार के प्रभावों को देखते आ रहे हैं। मसीह यीशु पर लाए गए विश्वास से प्राप्त होने वाली पापों की क्षमा, उद्धार, और मसीही शिष्यता से संबंधित सात व्यावहारिक बातों को पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पतरस ने उनके सामने रखा, जिन्हें हम प्रेरितों 2:37-42 में से देख रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने इन सात में से अंतिम, और लिखे गए क्रम के अनुसार तीसरी बात - मसीही विश्वासी के संसार और सांसारिकता की बातों से अपने आप को अलग करने के बारे में देखना आरंभ किया था। हमने देखा था कि ऐसा करना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में आकर निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा ऐसा करने में उसकी सहायता करता है। किन्तु मसीही विश्वास को मसीही या ईसाई धर्म बनाकर धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के पालन करने की धारणा रखने वाले, पतरस द्वारा कही गई क्रम की पहली बात - मन फिराओ अर्थात पश्चाताप करो, और क्रम की यह तीसरी बात - अपने आप को संसार और सांसारिकता के व्यवहार से पृथक करो पर न तो कोई विशेष ध्यान देते हैं और न ही मसीही शिष्यता के जीवन में इनके महत्व एवं अनिवार्यता को लोगों को सिखाते हैं। 

मसीही विश्वास के प्रचार और प्रसार के आरंभिक समय में, प्रेरित पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस में स्थित मसीही मण्डली को लिखा “अविश्वासियों के साथ असमान जूए में न जुतो, क्योंकि धामिर्कता और अधर्म का क्या मेल जोल? या ज्योति और अन्धकार की क्या संगति? और मसीह का बलियाल के साथ क्या लगाव? या विश्वासी के साथ अविश्वासी का क्या नाता? और मूरतों के साथ परमेश्वर के मन्दिर का क्या सम्बन्‍ध? क्योंकि हम तो जीवते परमेश्वर का मन्दिर हैं; जैसा परमेश्वर ने कहा है कि मैं उन में बसूंगा और उन में चला फिरा करूंगा; और मैं उन का परमेश्वर हूंगा, और वे मेरे लोग होंगे। इसलिये प्रभु कहता है, कि उन के बीच में से निकलो और अलग रहो; और अशुद्ध वस्तु को मत छूओ, तो मैं तुम्हें ग्रहण करूंगा। और तुम्हारा पिता हूंगा, और तुम मेरे बेटे और बेटियां होगे: यह सर्वशक्तिमान प्रभु परमेश्वर का वचन है” (2 कुरिन्थियों 6:14-18)। यह दिखाता है कि संसार और सांसारिकता से पृथक रहना मसीही विश्वासी के लिए कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, और अनिवार्य है। पतरस प्रेरित ने इसके विषय लिखा “हे प्रियो मैं तुम से बिनती करता हूं, कि तुम अपने आप को परदेशी और यात्री जान कर उस सांसारिक अभिलाषाओं से जो आत्मा से युद्ध करती हैं, बचे रहो” (1 पतरस 2:11)। 

थिस्सलुनीकिया की मसीही मण्डली के मसीही विश्वासियों के विश्वास और व्यवहार की सराहना करते हुए पौलुस प्रेरित ने उनके जीवन में आए परिवर्तन और उनके द्वारा अपनी पुरानी बातों को छोड़कर सुसमाचार प्रचार करने तथा प्रभु की बातों पर मन लगाने के बारे में सराहना करते हुए लिखा “और तुम बड़े क्‍लेश में पवित्र आत्मा के आनन्द के साथ वचन को मान कर हमारी और प्रभु की सी चाल चलने लगे। यहां तक कि मकिदुनिया और अखया के सब विश्वासियों के लिये तुम आदर्श बने। क्योंकि तुम्हारे यहां से न केवल मकिदुनिया और अखया में प्रभु का वचन सुनाया गया, पर तुम्हारे विश्वास की जो परमेश्वर पर है, हर जगह ऐसी चर्चा फैल गई है, कि हमें कहने की आवश्यकता ही नहीं। क्योंकि वे आप ही हमारे विषय में बताते हैं कि तुम्हारे पास हमारा आना कैसा हुआ; और तुम कैसे मूरतों से परमेश्वर की ओर फिरे ताकि जीवते और सच्चे परमेश्वर की सेवा करो। और उसके पुत्र के स्वर्ग पर से आने की बाट जोहते रहो जिसे उसने मरे हुओं में से जिलाया, अर्थात यीशु की, जो हमें आने वाले प्रकोप से बचाता है” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 1:6-10)। 

तो क्या इसका तात्पर्य है कि मसीही विश्वासी को संसार के साथ कोई संपर्क, कोई व्यवहार, कोई मेल-जोल या बातचीत नहीं रखनी है; वरन अपने आप को सभी से बिल्कुल अलग-थलग कर के एक सन्यासी के समान जीवन बिताना है? नहीं! परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल यह भी नहीं कहता है; और ऐसी धारणा रखना भी बाइबल की शिक्षाओं के अनुरूप नहीं है। प्रभु यीशु ने स्वयं अपने शिष्यों से कहा कि वे सारे जगत में जाकर मसीह यीशु में विश्वास द्वारा सेंत-मेंत उपलब्ध पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार के सुसमाचार के संदेश को बताएं। यदि प्रभु यीशु मसीह के शिष्य संसार के लोगों से मिलेंगे-जुलेंगे नहीं, उनसे संपर्क नहीं रखेंगे, तो फिर प्रभु की यह आज्ञा कैसे पूरी करेंगे? पौलुस जब अथेने में अपने साथियों के आने की बाट जोह रहा था, तो यहूदियों और अन्यजाति लोगों से चर्चाएं किया करता था, उन्हें सुसमाचार सुनाया करता था “जब पौलुस अथेने में उन की बाट जोह रहा था, तो नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया। सो वह आराधनालय में यहूदियों और भक्तों से और चौक में जो लोग मिलते थे, उन से हर दिन वाद-विवाद किया करता था। तब इपिकूरी और स्‍तोईकी पण्‍डितों में से कितने उस से तर्क करने लगे, और कितनों ने कहा, यह बकवादी क्या कहना चाहता है परन्तु औरों ने कहा; वह अन्य देवताओं का प्रचारक मालूम पड़ता है, क्योंकि वह यीशु का, और पुनरुत्थान का सुसमाचार सुनाता था” (प्रेरितों 17:16-18)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस प्रेरित ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को लिखा “मैं ने अपनी पत्री में तुम्हें लिखा है, कि व्यभिचारियों की संगति न करना। यह नहीं, कि तुम बिलकुल इस जगत के व्यभिचारियों, या लोभियों, या अन्धेर करने वालों, या मूर्तिपूजकों की संगति न करो; क्योंकि इस दशा में तो तुम्हें जगत में से निकल जाना ही पड़ता” (1 कुरिन्थियों 5:9-10)। 

इन सभी बातों के आधार पर हम यह निष्कर्ष निकाल सकते हैं कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए पृथक होकर रहने का अर्थ सन्यास ले लेना, अथवा सभी लोगों से हर प्रकार का संपर्क एवं व्यवहार समाप्त कर देना नहीं है। वरन, मसीही विश्वासियों को संसार के लोगों के समान और सांसारिकता की मानसिकता नहीं रखनी है, उनके सदृश्य नहीं बनना है (रोमियों 12:2)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार में रहते हुए किस प्रकार व्यवहार रखना है सिखाया, जो स्पष्ट करता है कि उन्हें संसार के लोगों के साथ संपर्क रखना था, उनके बीच में अपनी सच्चाई और खराई के कारण एक गवाह बन कर रहना था। प्रभु संसार के लोगों के घरों में जाता था, उनके साथ खाता था, उनसे बातचीत करता था (मत्ती 9:11; 11:19 लूका 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), किन्तु उसने कभी भी उन लोगों के सोच-विचार, व्यवहार को अपने ऊपर हावी नहीं होने दिया, कभी भी परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता और उसके अनुरूप व्यवहार के साथ कोई समझौता नहीं किया। प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को संसार के लोगों के मध्य एक गवाही का जीवन जीने के लिए कहा: “तुम पृथ्वी के नमक हो; परन्तु यदि नमक का स्वाद बिगड़ जाए, तो वह फिर किस वस्तु से नमकीन किया जाएगा? फिर वह किसी काम का नहीं, केवल इस के कि बाहर फेंका जाए और मनुष्यों के पैरों तले रौंदा जाए। तुम जगत की ज्योति हो; जो नगर पहाड़ पर बसा हुआ है वह छिप नहीं सकता। और लोग दिया जलाकर पैमाने के नीचे नहीं परन्तु दीवट पर रखते हैं, तब उस से घर के सब लोगों को प्रकाश पहुंचता है। उसी प्रकार तुम्हारा उजियाला मनुष्यों के सामने चमके कि वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देखकर तुम्हारे पिता की, जो स्वर्ग में हैं, बड़ाई करें” (मत्ती 5:13-16)। इसका परिणाम होगा “अन्यजातियों में तुम्हारा चालचलन भला हो; इसलिये कि जिन जिन बातों में वे तुम्हें कुकर्मी जान कर बदनाम करते हैं, वे तुम्हारे भले कामों को देख कर; उन्‍हीं के कारण कृपा दृष्टि के दिन परमेश्वर की महिमा करें” (1 पतरस 2:12)।

मसीही विश्वास का जीवन एक व्यवहारिक जीवन है, निरंतर हर बात में प्रभु यीशु की आज्ञाकारिता में बने रहने, और अपनी हर बात के द्वारा परमेश्वर को महिमा देते रहने का जीवन है “सो तुम चाहे खाओ, चाहे पीओ, चाहे जो कुछ करो, सब कुछ परमेश्वर की महिमा के लिये करो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 10:31)। किन्तु यदि आप अभी भी संसार के साथ और संसार के समान जी रहे हैं, या परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए धर्म-कर्म-रस्म के निर्वाह की मानसिकता में भरोसा रखे हुए हैं, तो आज और अभी आपके पास अपनी अनन्तकाल की स्थिति को सुधारने का अवसर है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Christian Believer’s Separation from the World - How?

We have been looking at the effects of the gospel preached by Peter on the day of Pentecost, to the devout Jews gathered in Jerusalem, by the power of the Holy Spirit. We have seen seven things from Acts 2:37-42 that are a feature of the Christian life after coming to faith in the Lord Jesus, receiving the forgiveness of sins, salvation, and becoming a disciple of Christ. In the last article we had started to consider the seventh of these things, a Christian Believer’s life of separation from the world and the ways of the world. We had seen how important this life of separation is, and that God the Holy Spirit residing within the Christian Believer helps him to do this. But, as we have already seen, those who believe in the Christian religion and think of being righteous through the following their religion, doing religious works, fulfilling rituals and ceremonies, they have converted five of these seven things into ritualistic formalities, doing away with their true meaning, significance and application in the Believer’s life. They pay scant attention, if any, to the remaining two, i.e., to repentance and to separation from the world. The importance and necessity of these two are never diligently taught and realistically emphasized upon the congregation by the religious leaders of the Christian religion.

In the initial phase of the preaching and spreading of the Christian faith, the apostle Paul wrote to the Assembly of the Christian Believers in Corinth, “Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness? And what accord has Christ with Belial? Or what part has a believer with an unbeliever? And what agreement has the temple of God with idols? For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: "I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be their God, And they shall be My people." Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty."” (2 Corinthians 6:14-18). This passage shows how important and necessary it is for a Christian Believer to stay separated from the world and ways of the world. The apostle Peter wrote about this, “Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul” (1 Peter 2:11).

Paul, appreciating and commending the life and behavior of the Christian Assembly in Thessalonica, wrote about this separation they had exhibited “And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit, so that you became examples to all in Macedonia and Achaia who believe. For from you the word of the Lord has sounded forth, not only in Macedonia and Achaia, but also in every place. Your faith toward God has gone out, so that we do not need to say anything. For they themselves declare concerning us what manner of entry we had to you, and how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, and to wait for His Son from heaven, whom He raised from the dead, even Jesus who delivers us from the wrath to come” (1 Thessalonians 1:6-10).

Then, does this mean that a Christian Believer has to have no contact, no interaction, no company or conversation with the people of the world? Are they supposed to keep away from the world as an ascetic? No! God’s Word the Bible does not say this at all; neither is having any such notion in accordance with the Biblical teachings on this subject. The Lord Jesus Himself has commanded His disciples to go into the world and preach the gospel of forgiveness of sins and salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus. If the disciples of the Lord Jesus do not meet and interact with the people of the world, nor remain in touch with them, how can they fulfill the Lord’s command? When Paul was waiting for his colleagues to join him in Athens, he spent his time meeting and discussing with the Jews and Gentiles, preaching the gospel to them, “Now while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols. Therefore, he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there. Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, "What does this babbler want to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods," because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection” (Acts 17:16-18). Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote to the Believer’s Assembly in Corinth, “I wrote to you in my epistle not to keep company with sexually immoral people. Yet I certainly did not mean with the sexually immoral people of this world, or with the covetous, or extortioners, or idolaters, since then you would need to go out of the world” (1 Corinthians 5:9-10).

In view of the above teachings and passages from God’s Word the Bible, we can understand that the command to be separated from the world for Christian Believer is not a command to become an ascetic, nor is it to be understood as a commandment to cut himself off from every contact and interaction with the world. Rather, they have been commanded to stay away or separated from the mentality and life of the world and worldly people, not be conformed to them (Romans 12:2). The Lord Jesus Christ, during His stay in the world, demonstrated and taught to His disciples how this has to be done. He went to their houses, ate with them and talked with them (Matthew 9:11; 11:19; Luke 5:30; 15:2; 19:7), but never let their way of thinking and living gain an upper hand, never compromised on His values and obedience to God’s Word. The Lord asked His disciples to live an exemplary life amongst the people of the world, one that would witness to their faith in Him, “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:13). The effect of their leading such a life will be, “having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles, that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may, by your good works which they observe, glorify God in the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).

The life of Christian Believer should be a life of practically living and demonstrating the faith, a life that glorifies God through every aspect of life, “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God” (1 Corinthians 10:31). But if you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
