प्रसार और अनुवाद में अनुपम
पिछले लेख में हमें देखा था कि बाइबल अपनी हर बात में कि किस प्रकार पूर्णतः सत्यवादी और स्पष्टवादी है। वह किसी की बुराई अथवा गलती को न तो छिपाती है, न उचित ठहराने का प्रयास करती है, और न ही उसकी अनदेखी करती है। वरन् उन गलतियों के प्रति परमेश्वर के दृष्टिकोण एवं न्याय को स्पष्ट दिखाती है, गलती करने वाला चाहे कोई भी क्यों न हो। साथ ही हमें यह भी देखा था कि किस प्रकार से बाइबल की पुस्तकों के लिखे जाने के इतिहास तथा उनके संकलित करके एक ऐसी पुस्तक बनाए जाने, जिसकी पुस्तकों में पूर्ण सामंजस्य है और परपसर कोई विरोधाभास नहीं है, के सदियों बाद हुई पुरातत्व खोजों के आधार पर इस गलत धारणा का कोई आधार अथवा प्रमाण नहीं है कि उन पुस्तकों को संकलित करते समय, संपादित करके उन्हें सुसंगत बना दिया गया होगा, उनमें सामंजस्य बैठा दिया गया होगा, क्योंकि संकलित किए जाने से पहले के और बाद के लेखों में कोई भिन्नता नहीं है। और ये सभी बातें बाइबल को संसार की सभी पुस्तकों और ग्रन्थों से बिलकुल भिन्न और अलग स्तर का बनाती हैं, उसके परमेश्वर का दिया हुआ होने का समर्थन करती हैं। आज हम बाइबल से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य अनुपम तथ्य पर विचार करेंगे, जो उसके अनुवाद, प्रकाशन, और वितरण से सम्बन्धित है।
प्रसार: किसी पुस्तक के बारे में यह सुनना कोई असामान्य बात नहीं है कि उसकी कुछ हज़ार या दसियों हज़ार प्रतियां बिक गई हैं, और वह सर्वाधिक बिकने वाली पुस्तकों के सूची में सम्मिलित हो गई है। ऐसी पुस्तकों की संख्या बहुत कम है जिनकी लाखों या दसियों लाख प्रतियों की बिक्री हुई है; ऐसी पुस्तकें तो और भी कम हैं जिनकी बिक्री या वितरित हुई प्रतियों की संख्या करोड़ या करोड़ों में हो। ऐसे में यह भौंचक्का कर देने वाली बात है कि संसार के इतिहास में बाइबल ही एकमात्र ऐसी पुस्तक है जिसकी संसार भर में विभिन्न भाषाओं में बिक्री अथवा वितरित हुई प्रतियों की संख्या अरबों में है। छपाई के इतिहास के आरंभ होने से लेकर आज तक, बाइबल ही एकमात्र ऐसी पुस्तक है जो लगातार, बिना कभी भी किसी अन्य पुस्तक को अपना स्थान दिए, संसार की सर्वाधिक बिकने तथा वितरित होने वाली पुस्तक रही है।
संसार भर में बाइबल को प्रकाशित करने वाली अनेकों संस्थाएं हैं; हर देश में बाइबल को प्रकाशित करने वाली अपनी संस्थाएं हैं; इन संस्थाओं में से the United Bible Societies (UBS), तथा Wycliffe / ProgressBible सबसे प्रमुख अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रकाशकों तथा वितरण करने वालों में से शीर्ष पर हैं। Wycliffe / ProgressBible के अनुसार:
संसार भर में 7,396 ज्ञात सक्रीय भाषाएं हैं जो बोली अथवा लिखी या सांकेतिक रीति से प्रयोग की जाती हैं।
इन भाषाओं के माध्यम से लगभग 620 करोड़ (6.2 अरब) लोगों को अपनी भाषा में पूर्ण बाइबल उपलब्ध है; 88.1 करोड़ लोगों को नया नियम उपलब्ध है; और 50.9 करोड़ लोगों को अंश (कहानियाँ, चयनित पद आदि) उपलब्ध हैं।
यूनाइटेड बाइबल सोसाइटीज़ (UBS) के अनुसार, वर्ष 2023 में विश्व-भर में कुल 15.2 करोड़ पवित्रशास्त्र इकाइयाँ वितरित की गईं; उनका विवरण इस प्रकार है:

2024 में पहली बार डिजिटल वितरण ने प्रिंट से अधिक स्थान प्राप्त किया: UBS के अनुसार 2.59 करोड़ डिजिटल पवित्रशास्त्र वितरित हुए, जबकि 2.25 करोड़ छपी हुई प्रतियाँ वितरित हुईं — यह पवित्रशास्त्र के उपभोग और वितरण में एक बड़े परिवर्तन को दर्शाता है। आने वाले दिनों में डिजिटल माध्यम और AI परमेश्वर के वचन को लोगों तक पहुँचाने तथा उसे विश्व के प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के लिए आसानी से उपलब्ध कराने में अत्यंत सहायक होने की अपेक्षा है।
Wycliffe / ProgressBible के अनुसार (अगस्त 2025 तक), केवल 544 भाषाएँ—जिन में कुल लगभग 3.68 करोड़ लोग हैं—अब भी किसी भी प्रकार की बाइबल (पूर्ण या आंशिक) की प्रतीक्षा कर रही हैं। यह वर्तमान विश्व जनसंख्या 8.25 अरब (825 करोड़) का लगभग 0.445%— अर्थात, आधे प्रतिशत से भी कम जन सँख्या है। परमेश्वर के वचन को प्रत्येक अप्राप्य भाषा और समुदाय तक पहुँचाने, या कम से कम उसके किसी अंश को उपलब्ध कराने के लिए कार्य जारी है।
अर्थात, संसार के इतिहास में अन्य कोई भी पुस्तक नहीं है जो बाइबल के प्रकाशन अथवा वितरण के आँकड़ों के कहीं निकट भी आती है। यदि बाइबल और उसके भागों की संसार भर में इतनी माँग न होती, तो यह कार्य कैसे संभव होता; वह भी सारे संसार में, और छपाई के आरंभ से लेकर आज दिन तक, निरंतर? संसार भर में बाइबल, या बाइबल के भाग, या बाइबल के अंश ही सर्वाधिक पढ़े जाने वाले लेख हैं। विचार करने वाली बात है, बाइबल और उसके संदेश में कुछ तो विलक्षण तथा अनुपम होगा, कि उनकी इतनी माँग संसार भर में बनी हुई है।
अनुवाद: जैसे प्रभावशाली और विस्मित करने वाले बाइबल के प्रकाशन और वितरण के आँकड़े हैं, उसी के समान प्रभावशाली और विस्मित करने वाले बाइबल के अनुवादों से संबंधित आँकड़े भी हैं।
संसार भर में छपने वाली अधिकांश पुस्तकें अपनी मूल भाषा के अतिरिक्त किसी अन्य भाषा में अनुवाद ही नहीं होती हैं। जो अनुवाद भी होती हैं, वो अधिकांशतः दो या तीन भाषाओं में अनुवाद होती हैं। बहुत ही कम पुस्तकें हैं जो अपनी संपूर्णता या भागों में भी 10 से लेकर 20 विभिन्न भाषाओं में अनुवाद हुई हैं। आज संसार की ज्ञात भाषाओं और बोलियों में से अधिकांश भाषाओं या बोलियों में बाइबल, या बाइबल का कोई भाग, अथवा अंश अनुवाद किया जा चुका है, और उसे प्रसारित किया गया है – छापे हुए स्वरूप में, अथवा औडियो रिकॉर्डिंग के रूप में; उन भाषाओं में भी जो केवल मौखिक हैं, जिनके लिखने के लिए कोई वर्णमाला तथा अक्षर नहीं हैं। जिन भाषाओं में केवल बाइबल के अंश हैं, उनमें बाइबल के भागों का अनुवाद ज़ारी है; और जिनमें अंश तथा भाग उपलब्ध हैं, उनमें सम्पूर्ण बाइबल का अनुवाद होना ज़ारी है। जैसे जैसे माँग बढ़ती जाती है, कार्य भी बढ़ता जाता है, और उपलब्ध हो जाने वाले अंश अथवा भाग या बाइबल वितरण के लिए उपयोग होते जाते हैं, वितरित होने लगते हैं। यदि यह कार्य औडियो रिकॉर्डिंग के रूप में है, तो उसे उसी स्वरूप में विभिन्न माध्यमों के द्वारा वितरित किया जाता है। कठिन प्रयासों और बाधाओं के बावजूद, संसार के सभी भू-भाग के लोगों के पास परमेश्वर का वचन, उनकी अपनी भाषा अथवा बोली में, उपलब्ध करवाया जा रहा है। अनेकों संस्थाएं संसार भर में इस कार्य में लगी हुई हैं; कुछ स्थानीय है, कुछ अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हैं; किन्तु सभी का यही प्रयास है कि संसार का कोई भू-भाग, कोई भाषा या बोली का समुदाय, उनकी अपनी भाषा में परमेश्वर के वचन से वंचित न रह जाए।
अब यह बाइबल के आलोचकों और विरोधियों के लिए विचार करने और उत्तर ढूँढने की बात है कि बाइबल और उसके संदेश में आखिर ऐसा क्या है जो सारे संसार के सभी इलाकों में लोगों को प्रेरित कर रहा है कि अनेकों बाधाओं, विरोध, और समस्याओं का सामना करते हुए भी, बाइबल में विश्वास करने वाले, उसे संसार के हर व्यक्ति, हर समुदाय तक पहुंचाने में लगे हुए हैं। संसार के इतिहास में क्या कोई अन्य ऐसा ग्रंथ अथवा पुस्तक है जिसका इतना व्यापक प्रसार एवं अनुवाद किया गया हो; हमेशा ही इतनी माँग बनी रही हो? बाइबल में कुछ तो होगा जो लोगों में उसके संदेश के लिए एक भूख, एक लालसा उत्पन्न कर रहा है; और जिनके पास बाइबल और उसका संदेश है, उन्हें किसी भी कीमत पर उस संदेश को सारे संसार के सभी लोगों तक पहुंचाने के लिए प्रेरित कर रहा है, और करवाता जा रहा है!
अगले लेख में हम एक और सम्बन्धित बात पर विचार करेंगे कि बाइबल कैसे, आज तक ज़ारी उसे नष्ट करने के सभी प्रयासों के बावजूद, न केवल बनी हुई है, वरन उसकी माँग निरंतर बढ़ती ही जा रही है। साथ ही इस तथ्य पर भी विचार कीजिये: प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने जगत के अंत और सभी लोगों के न्याय के लिए जो चिह्न दिए थे (मत्ती 24 अध्याय), वे सभी पूरे होते जा रहे हैं; आज के विषय से संबंधित एक महत्वपूर्ण चिह्न है: “और राज्य का यह सुसमाचार सारे जगत में प्रचार किया जाएगा, कि सब जातियों पर गवाही हो, तब अन्त आ जाएगा” (मत्ती 24:14)। अब आप स्वयं देख लीजिए कि जगत अपने अंत और न्याय के कितना निकट खड़ा है। क्या आप प्रभु को अपने जीवन का हिसाब देने के लिये तैयार हैं? यदि नहीं, तो आप के लिये अभी समय और अवसर है कि यह निर्णय कर लें।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Unique in its Circulation and Translations
In the previous article we had seen that the Bible is fully honest and forthright about everything given in it. It neither glosses over, nor hides, nor tries to justify the errors and wrongdoings of anyone. Rather, it shows God’s point of view about those wrongdoings and clearly speaks of God’s judgement about them, whoever may be the one committing the wrong. We had also seen that in view of the history of how the books of Bible were written and then were compiled to form one book where every book was in perfect harmony with the others and there were no contradictions, the archeological discoveries of the ancient texts dating to before the compilation of the books shows that there is no basis or proof that while compiling the books may have been edited to create this harmony and absence of contradictions, since the texts have remained unchanged before and after the compilation. And these facts make the Bible an absolutely unique book, far different from any other book in the world, of an altogether different level and status, corroborating its claims of divine origin. Today, we will consider another unique fact related to the Bible, that is related to its translation, publication and distribution.
Circulation: It is not uncommon to hear of a book that has sold a few thousand or even tens of thousands of copies, and has entered the list of best-selling books. But there are very few books that have sold lakhs of copies; much fewer are the books, whose number of copies sold or distributed is a million or is in tens of millions. Therefore, it is astonishing that the Bible is the only book in the history of the world whose number of copies sold or distributed in different languages across the world is in the billions. From the beginning of the history of printing to the present day, the Bible is the only book that, without ever giving this place to any other book, has consistently been ranked as the world's all-time best-selling, most read and distributed book.
There are many organizations publishing the Bible around the world. Every country has its own organizations that publishes the Bible; Of these the United Bible Societies (UBS), and the Wycliffe / ProgressBible are amongst the leading international publishers and ditributors.According to, Wycliffe / ProgressBible there are:
There are 7,396 known living languages (including spoken, written, and used as sign languages) in the world.
Through these languages, about 6.2 billion people have access to the whole Bible in their language; 881 million can access the New Testament; 509 million have access to portions (verse stories, etc.).
According to the United Bible Societies (UBS), in 2023, 152 million Scripture units were distributed globally; their break-up is as follows:
24.2 million full Bibles
9.2 million New Testaments
118.6 million portions / selections (smaller parts)
For the first time, digital distribution outstripped print in 2024: UBS reported 25.9 million digital Scriptures vs 22.5 million printed ones — shows a major shift in scripture consumption / distribution. Digital media and AI are expected to help tremendously in reaching the Word of God, and making it easily available to everyone in the world in the coming days.
According to Wycliffe / ProgressBible, the only 544 languages representing only about 36.8 million people of the world are still waiting for any kind of Bible (as of August 2025). The current world population is 8.25 Billion. Therefore, the unreached population represents about 0.445%, i.e., less than a half-percent of the current world population; and work is underway to reach every unreached language and ethnic group with God's Word, or, at least some portion of the Word.
Thus, there is no other book in the history of the world that comes anywhere even close to the statistics of the publication or distribution of the Bible. How would this work be possible if the Bible and its parts have not continuously remained in demand, all the time, and all over the world, from the beginning of printing of books to the present day? The Bible, or parts of the Bible, or passages of the Bible, are the most widely read writings in the world. It is worth considering, that there must be something extraordinary and unique in the Bible and its message, that they remain in such demand around the world, all the time.
Translations: Just as the statistics on the publication and distribution of the Bible are impressive and astounding, similarly the statistics on translations of the Bible are as impressive and astonishing too.
Most of the books published around the world are usually not translated into any language other than their original language. If the translations do happen, they are mostly in two or three languages. There are very few books which have been translated in their entirety or even in their parts into 10 to 20 different languages. The Bible, in whole, or in part, has been translated, and circulated – in print, or as an audio recording, in most of the world's known languages and dialects today; Even into those languages which are only spoken, and have no alphabets and words to write. The remaining parts of the Bible continue to be translated into languages that presently have only Bible portions; And translations of the entire Bible continue to be made available in one form or the other, where earlier only portions have been available. As demand increases, so does the work, and portions or the Bibles that become available for distribution, begin to be distributed. If the translation is in the form of an audio recording, it is distributed in the same format through a variety of media. Despite hard opposition and difficult obstacles, the Word of God is being made available to people in all parts of the world, in their own language or dialect. Many organizations are engaged in this work around the world; Some are local, some are international; But it is the endeavor of all that no part of the world, no language or community of dialects should be deprived of the availability of the Word of God in their own language.
Now it is a matter for critics and opponents of the Bible to ponder and find answers as to what is in the Bible and its message that is inspiring people in all regions of the world to face many obstacles, oppositions, and problems, but get hold of it in one form or the other. Why are Believers in the Bible engaged in trying to make it available to every person, every community in the world, even at the cost of their security and lives? Is there any other book, religious or secular, that in the history of the world has been so widely circulated and translated; has always been so much in demand? There must be something in the Bible that is creating a hunger, a longing in the people for its message; And is inspiring those who have the Bible and its message, to spread that message to all the people of the whole world at any cost!
In the next article we will consider how the Bible is unique in surviving all attempts that have been made and are still being made to destroy it; yet not only has it remained in circulation, but its demand is continually increasing. Also, please ponder over this fact: The signs given by the Lord Jesus Christ for the end of the world and the judgment of all people (Matthew 24), are all being fulfilled before our eyes. Amongst these signs, there is an important sign related to today's heading: “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come” (Matthew 24:14). Now see for yourself how close the world stands to its end and justice. Are you ready to give the account of your life to the Lord? If not, then now is the time and opportunity for you to make this decision.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
