शिक्षकों की सेवकाई
हम पिछले लेखों में इफिसियों 4:11 में कलीसिया की उन्नति के लिए प्रभु द्वारा नियुक्त पाँच प्रकार के सेवकों तथा उनकी सेवकाइयों के बारे में देखते आ रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि ये पाँचों सेवकाइयां परमेश्वर के वचन की सेवकाई से संबंधित हैं; और हमने वचन से यह भी देखा है कि एक ही व्यक्ति एक से अधिक प्रकार की सेवकाई कर सकता है, और करता रहा है। पिछले लेख में हमने इनमें से पांचवें, उपदेशक, अर्थात शिक्षक होने के बारे में देखा था, और देखा था कि कैसे प्रभु यीशु भी एक शिक्षक, सुसमाचार प्रचारक, और अन्य सेवकाइयों को करने वाले जाने जाते थे। आज हम वचन से ही उचित रीति से वचन की शिक्षा दिए जाने और वचन की सही शिक्षा के लोगों के जीवनों पर प्रभावों के कुछ उदाहरणों को देखते हैं।
हम बाइबल से कुछ उदाहरणों को देखते हैं:
प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने जब लोगों को सिखाया, तब, फरीसियों और शास्त्रियों के समान नहीं, परंतु अधिकारी के समान, और अधिकार के साथ सिखाया (मत्ती 7:28-29; मरकुस 1:22; लूका 4:32)। अर्थात प्रभु यीशु ने वचन को ‘किताबी या मानवीय’ ज्ञान के अनुसार नहीं वरन वचन की गहराई से समझ और दृढ़ता के साथ सिखाया। किन्तु साथ ही वह लोगों को उनकी समझ के अनुसार भी सिखाता था, और परमेश्वर की शिक्षाओं को सरल दृष्टांतों के द्वारा लोगों को समझाता था (मरकुस 4:33-34)। मसीही शिक्षक को वचन की शिक्षा देने की विधि का यही उदाहरण लेकर चलना चाहिए।
पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस की मण्डली को उन्हें उससे मिली सुसमाचार की शिक्षा के विषय स्मरण दिलाया, “और हे भाइयों, जब मैं परमेश्वर का भेद सुनाता हुआ तुम्हारे पास आया, तो वचन या ज्ञान की उत्तमता के साथ नहीं आया। और मेरे वचन, और मेरे प्रचार में ज्ञान की लुभाने वाली बातें नहीं; परन्तु आत्मा और सामर्थ्य का प्रमाण था। इसलिये कि तुम्हारा विश्वास मनुष्यों के ज्ञान पर नहीं, परन्तु परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य पर निर्भर हो” (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:1, 4-5)। अर्थात, पौलुस जैसे ज्ञानवान और पवित्र शास्त्र की उत्तम शिक्षा पाए हुए व्यक्ति के द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में जो सुसमाचार की शिक्षा दी गई, वह आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से तो थी, किन्तु उसकी शिक्षाओं में ज्ञान बघारने की बातें, या संसार के ज्ञान की बातें नहीं थीं। वह परमेश्वर के वचन में अपनी ओर से कुछ नहीं जोड़ता था, वचन को रोचक या आकर्षक बनाने के प्रयास नहीं करता था, सांसारिक बातों और ज्ञान को वचन में नहीं मिलाता था; वह केवल वचन के सत्य को प्रकट करता था, और लोगों में शेष कार्य परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा करता था (2 कुरिन्थियों 4:2)।
इसी प्रकार थिस्सलुनीकिया की मसीही मण्डली को पौलुस ने लिखा, “क्योंकि हमारा सुसमाचार तुम्हारे पास न केवल वचन मात्र ही में वरन सामर्थ्य और पवित्र आत्मा, और बड़े निश्चय के साथ पहुंचा है; जैसा तुम जानते हो, कि हम तुम्हारे लिये तुम में कैसे बन गए थे। और तुम बड़े क्लेश में पवित्र आत्मा के आनन्द के साथ वचन को मान कर हमारी और प्रभु की सी चाल चलने लगे” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 1:5, 6)। यहाँ पर भी हम देखते हैं कि पौलुस द्वारा वचन की शिक्षा मनुष्य के ज्ञान के द्वारा नहीं, वरन, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य और बड़ी दृढ़ता से दी गई। साथ ही हम यह भी देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर के वचन का पालन करने में थिस्सलुनीकिया के मसीही विश्वासियों को क्लेश तो उठाना पड़ा, किन्तु साथ ही उनमें पवित्र आत्मा का आनंद भी था, और उनके जीवन में परिवर्तन आया, और वे प्रभु की सी चाल चलने लगे - जो उन्हें मिली वचन की शिक्षा के सच्चे, खरे, और परमेश्वर की ओर से होने का प्रमाण है।
परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस ने लोगों को वचन की शिक्षा देने के संदर्भ तिमुथियुस को लिखा था:
“अपने आप को परमेश्वर का ग्रहण योग्य और ऐसा काम करने वाला ठहराने का प्रयत्न कर, जो लज्ज़ित होने न पाए, और जो सत्य के वचन को ठीक रीति से काम में लाता हो। पर अशुद्ध बकवाद से बचा रह; क्योंकि ऐसे लोग और भी अभक्ति में बढ़ते जाएंगे” (2 तीमुथियुस 2:15-16)। अर्थात, वचन की सेवकाई करने वाले को यह ध्यान रखना है कि वह वचन को अपने स्वार्थ या इच्छा-पूर्ति के लिए नहीं, वरन, ठीक रीति से जो परमेश्वर को ग्रहण योग्य हो, काम में लाए; और अशुद्ध बकवाद से बचा रहे। उसका जीवन और व्यवहार किसी भी रीति से लज्जित करने वाला न हो, और वह तथा उसका कार्य मनुष्यों को नहीं वरन परमेश्वर को ग्रहण योग्य हो - परमेश्वर के कहे और इच्छा के अनुसार हो, न कि लोगों को लुभाने वाला हो।
“कि तू वचन को प्रचार कर; समय और असमय तैयार रह, सब प्रकार की सहनशीलता, और शिक्षा के साथ उलाहना दे, और डांट, और समझा। क्योंकि ऐसा समय आएगा, कि लोग खरा उपदेश न सह सकेंगे पर कानों की खुजली के कारण अपनी अभिलाषाओं के अनुसार अपने लिये बहुतेरे उपदेशक बटोर लेंगे। और अपने कान सत्य से फेरकर कथा-कहानियों पर लगाएंगे। पर तू सब बातों में सावधान रह, दुख उठा, सुसमाचार प्रचार का काम कर और अपनी सेवा को पूरा कर” (2 तीमुथियुस 4:2-5)। अर्थात, वचन की शिक्षा देने वाले को हर समय अपने आप को तैयार रखना चाहिए, और धैर्य के साथ इस सेवकाई को निभाना चाहिए। वचन के शिक्षक को, वचन को समझाने के लिए यदि आवश्यकता पड़े तो लोगों को उलाहना देने और डांटने की भी अनुमति है, वरन, ऐसा करना उनकी ज़िम्मेदारी है; इसमें निहित है कि वचन की शिक्षा पाने वालों को उलाहना और डाँट सुनने के लिए भी तैयार और नम्र रहना चाहिए। वचन के शिक्षक को सार्थक और सच्ची बातों के द्वारा खराई से परमेश्वर की बातों, निर्देशों, और शिक्षाओं को लोगों तक पहुँचाना है, चाहे वे कटु सत्य ही क्यों न हों। उसे लुभावनी बातें सुनाकर लोगों से प्रशंसा और प्रमुख स्थान पाने से बच कर रहना है। चाहे यह सब करने के लिए उसे लोगों से विरोध का सामना ही क्यों न करना पड़े, दुख ही क्यों न उठाने पड़ें।
“हर एक पवित्र शास्त्र परमेश्वर की प्रेरणा से रचा गया है और उपदेश, और समझाने, और सुधारने, और धर्म की शिक्षा के लिये लाभदायक है। ताकि परमेश्वर का जन सिद्ध बने, और हर एक भले काम के लिये तत्पर हो जाए” (2 तीमुथियुस 3:16-17)। अर्थात मसीही शिक्षक को परमेश्वर की शिक्षाओं को लोगों तक पहुँचाने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन ही का प्रयोग करना चाहिए, जिसे स्मरण करवाने, सिखाने, और समझाने के लिए प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा निवास करता है (यूहन्ना 14:26; यूहन्ना 16:13-14; 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:10-13)। परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रयोग के द्वारा ही लोग परमेश्वर की वास्तविक शिक्षाओं को सीखने पाते हैं, और उसी से वे सिद्ध बनकर भले कार्यों के लिए तैयार होने पाते हैं।
उपरोक्त सभी उदाहरणों में हम वचन की शिक्षा से संबंधित कहीं किसी नाटकीय व्यवहार, या सांसारिक अथवा शारीरिक लाभ की बातों को नहीं पाते हैं। हर उदाहरण परमेश्वर के वचन के खराई से प्रयोग, और पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य के साथ था, जिसका प्रमाण लोगों के जीवन बदलने के द्वारा देखा गया, न कि कुछ समय के लिए कुछ अच्छा अनुभव हुआ, सुनने में अच्छा लगा, और फिर जीवन बदले बिना ही व्यक्ति अपनी पहले की से दशा में फिर से पहुँच गया। वचन को सुनने और मानने वालों ने इसके लिए क्लेश सहना भी स्वीकार किया, किन्तु वचन की खराई और सच्चाई से पीछे नहीं हटे, चाहे इसकी उन्हें कोई भी कीमत क्यों न चुकानी पड़े। परमेश्वर की ओर से नियुक्त शिक्षक जब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से परमेश्वर के वचन को बताते और सिखाते हैं, तो वह ‘मनुष्य की अभिलाषाओं के अनुसार कानों की खुजली’ मिटाने वाली कथा-कहानियों का प्रचार नहीं होता है (2 तिमुथियुस 4:3-4), वरन मन और जीवन बदलने वाली सामर्थी शिक्षाएं, परमेश्वर की दोधारी तलवार होता है जो “जीव, और आत्मा को, और गांठ गांठ, और गूदे गूदे को अलग कर के, वार पार छेदता है; और मन की भावनाओं और विचारों को जांचता है” (इब्रानियों 4:12)।
यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, और आपको लोगों को परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा देने का दायित्व मिल है, परमेश्वर ने आपके लिए यह सेवकाई निर्धारित की है, तो अपनी सेवकाई के लिए परमेश्वर से यशायाह 50:4 आपके लिए पूरा करना माँगिए। उपरोक्त बातों और प्रभु यीशु के शिक्षा देने के उदाहरण का ध्यान रखिए और पालन कीजिए। यह आपके लिए भी तथा औरों के लिए भी उन्नति का कारण ठहरेगा। आप जितना वचन को औरों के साथ बाँटेंगे, आप पाएंगे के आप स्वयं भी वचन की समझ और गहराई में उतना अधिक बढ़ते चले जा रहे हैं, और परमेश्वर अपने वचन के गूढ़ भेद आप पर और भी अधिक प्रकट करता जा रहा है। परंतु सावधान रहिए, ऐसा होने से शैतान आपके अन्दर कोई घमण्ड न ले आए, आप अपने आप को विद्वान और विशिष्ट न समझने लगें; जहाँ घमंड होगा, वहाँ बहुत शीघ्र ही पतन भी आ जाएगा।
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Ministry of Teachers
Since the past few articles, we have been seeing from Ephesians 4:11 that for the works and functioning of His Church, the Lord Jesus has set some ministries and appointed some workers for those ministries. We have seen that these ministries are related to the ministry of God’s Word in the Churches. We have also seen that just as the Lord Jesus served as a Teacher, an Evangelist, and through other ministries, and so did the Apostles in the first Church, similarly one person can serve in more than one ministry. In the last article we had seen about the fifth ministry and its worker, the Teachers and Preachers. Today, from God’s Word, we will look about the Biblical way of teaching God’s Word, and the effects the correct teachings of God’s Word have on the lives of the people.
Let us consider some examples form the Bible:
When the Lord Jesus taught the people, it was not as the Pharisees and the Scribes used to do; He taught with authority (Matthew 7:28-29; Mark 1:22; Luke 4:32). In other words, the Lord Jesus did not give them any “bookish” teachings or teachings through any human knowledge, but taught with a deep and proper understanding of God’s Word with a sense of being deeply rooted in it. But He also taught them according to the level of understanding of the people - how much and what all they could grasp (Mark 4:33-34). Every Christian Teacher of God’s Word should teach bearing these things in mind.
Paul reminded the Church or Assembly in Corinth, how he taught them, “And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. And my speech and my preaching were not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:1, 4-5). In other words, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, the gospel and teachings given by Paul, who was well-learned and very knowledgeable about the Scriptures, was with the power of the Spirit, did not contain any worldly knowledge, nor was it to show-off his own knowledge. Paul never added anything to God’s Word from his own side, nor did he attempt to make the teachings entertaining and attractive through adding frivolous and worldly things. Paul only brought forth the truth of God’s Word, and left it for the Holy Spirit to do the rest amongst the people (2 Corinthians 4:2).
Similarly, to the Church in Thessalonica, Paul wrote, “For our gospel did not come to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit and in much assurance, as you know what kind of men we were among you for your sake. And you became followers of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Spirit” (1 Thessalonians 1:5-6). Here too we see that the teaching of God’s Word by Paul was not casual or according to the ways and knowledge of the world, but through the power of the Holy Spirit in much firmness or assurance. We also see that the Thessalonian Believers had to suffer problems and persecutions in obeying God’s Word, but they also received the joy of the Holy Spirit, their lives were changed, and they sincerely started to follow the Lord - which was the proof of their having received true and factual teachings, from God.
Under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, Paul wrote to Timothy some things about teaching God’s Word to the people:
“Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. But shun profane and idle babblings, for they will increase to more ungodliness” (2 Timothy 2:15-16). That is to say that the teacher of God’s Word has to bear in mind that he has to use God’s Word not as per his own desire and purposes, but properly and in a manner approved by God; and should refrain from teaching vain and frivolous things. The teacher’s life and behavior should in no way be a cause of any shame, and his works, whether or not they are acceptable to man, should always be acceptable to God - should be according to God’s will, according to what God has said and asked, instead of being meant to attract men.
“Preach the word! Be ready in season and out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:2-5). The teacher of God’s Word should always be ready, prepared, and willing to carry out this ministry, and should patiently fulfill this responsibility. Those appointed by God to this ministry, have God’s permission and instruction to rebuke and exhort the people, if necessary. Rather it is their responsibility to do so; implied in this instruction is the fact that those studying God’s Word should be willing, humble, and submissive to being rebuked and exhorted for learning by their teacher, as and when required. The teacher of God’s Word has to teach the Biblical truths, and the meaningful facts sincerely and honestly, even though they may be harsh and bitter; even if he has to face the opposition of the people and suffer for speaking the truth. The teacher is not to add popular and attractive things to gain people’s commendation and status.
“All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17). The teacher of God’s Word is to use Word of God to explain and expound God’s Word. God the Holy Spirit resides in every Christian Believer to help them recall, remember, learn, and understand God’s Word (John 14:26; John 16:13-14; 1 Corinthians 2:10-13). God’s people are able to learn the true teachings of God only from the Word of God; only God’s Word can make them complete and thoroughly equipped for every good work.
In all of the above examples, we do not find any sanction or mention of the use of dramatic behavior and methods for teaching God’s Word, or of the teachers doing this for the sake of worldly benefits and temporal gains. Every example is of using God’s Word with honesty and sincerity, through the power of the Holy Spirit. This is proved by the changed lives of those who hear and follow it; unlike with the spurious and superficial word given for “itching ears”, which sounds good, appealing, and attractive to hear, but does not produce any change in lives, and soon the hearers revert back to their former ways and state. Those who are impacted by the true preaching of God’s Word, become willing to suffer problems and persecution for it, but are not willing to step back and turn away from the truth and from obeying it, no matter what be the cost. When God’s appointed teachers, through the power of the Holy Spirit, tell and teach the truth of God’s Word, then it is not about stories and worldly things according to people’s desire to satisfy their ‘itching ears’ (2 Timothy 4:3-4). Rather they are powerful teachings that cut into and change the hearts and minds of people, like a double edged sword “...piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).
If you are a Christian Believer, and you have been given the responsibility of teaching God’s Word, God has appointed you to this ministry, then ask God to fulfill Isaiah 50:4 for you to help you carry out your ministry. Always keep the example of the Lord Jesus’s teaching techniques, and the above-mentioned things from God’s Word in mind and follow them. This will help you and others to grow in Spiritual lives. The more you share God’s Word with others, the more you will increase in your understanding of God’s Word, and you will find that God will continue to share the deep things and secrets of His Word with you. But be very careful, when this happens, Satan will also try to bring pride in you by making you feel like a very learned, knowledgeable, and specially gifted person. And, wherever there is pride, decline and destruction soon follow.
If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
