प्रभु यीशु द्वारा नियुक्तियों के द्वारा बढ़ोतरी

प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया या मण्डली से संबंधित इस अध्ययन में हम देख चुके हैं कि आम धारणा के विपरीत, कलीसिया, या चर्च, या प्रभु की मण्डली कोई भौतिक स्थान अथवा भवन नहीं है। वरन, बाइबल के अनुसार, प्रभु की कलीसिया, सारे संसार में, प्रभु के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित और स्वेच्छा से उसे अपना व्यक्तिगत उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने वाले लोगों का विश्वव्यापी समूह या गुट है। हमने यह भी देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु स्वयं ही अपनी कलीसिया बना रहा है, उसने यह कार्य किसी मनुष्य अथवा संस्था को नहीं सौंपा है, यहाँ तक कि स्वर्गदूतों को भी नहीं सौंपा है। क्योंकि वर्तमान में प्रभु की कलीसिया निर्माणाधीन है, इसलिए अपूर्ण है, उसमें विभिन्न कमियाँ और त्रुटियाँ दिखाई देती हैं। प्रभु अभी कलीसिया को उसका अंतिम पूर्ण स्वरूप देने में कार्यरत है, और अन्ततः कलीसिया प्रभु की दुल्हन के रूप में उसके तेजस्वी और जयवंत स्वरूप में, बिना किसी दाग या झुर्री के प्रभु के साथ होगी। परमेश्वर के वचन से प्राप्त होने वाले, कलीसिया से संबंधित ये आधार-भूत तथ्य, यह प्रकट और स्पष्ट कर देते हैं कि वास्तविक कलीसिया, अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों का वह समूह, जो प्रभु के पास उठाया जाएगा तथा अनन्तकाल के लिए प्रभु के साथ रहेगा वह किसी मानवीय अथवा संस्थागत रीति-रिवाज़ों, नियमों, परंपराओं, या धारणाओं द्वारा न तो बना है और न प्रभु को स्वीकार्य है। प्रभु यीशु केवल अपनी बनाई हुई कलीसिया को अपने साथ लेगा और रखेगा, और शेष सभी, जो प्रभु यीशु के साथ उसके द्वारा नहीं जोड़े गए हैं, वे अनन्त विनाश के लिए पीछे रह जाएंगे। उन पीछे रह जाने वाले लोगों की धारणाएं और मान्यताएं चाहे कुछ भी रही हों।

प्रभु के द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया में जोड़े जाने वाले लोगों का यह समूह या गुट किसी मत या डिनॉमिनेशन के विधि-विधानों, परंपराओं, और नियमों का पालन नहीं करता है। वरन, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, प्रभु की कलीसिया प्रभु यीशु और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करती है, जब तक पृथ्वी पर है वह प्रभु द्वारा उसके लिए निर्धारित कार्यों में, प्रभु की इच्छा पूरी करने के लिए के लिए कार्यकारी बनी रहती है। कलीसिया में विभिन्न दायित्वों और कार्यों के निर्वाह के लिए, प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा कुछ आत्मिक वरदान भी दिए गए हैं, जिनके बारे में हम पवित्र आत्मा की भूमिका से संबंधित पहले के लेखों में देख चुके हैं। कलीसिया से संबंधित बाइबल के इन तथ्यों से हम प्रभु की कलीसिया के विषय एक और आधार-भूत बात भी सीखते हैं - अभी, इस पृथ्वी पर प्रभु की कलीसिया अचल (static) नहीं वरन गतिमान (dynamic) है। अभी उसमें लोग जोड़े जा रहे हैं, शैतान द्वारा घुसाए गए लोगों की पहचान दिखाकर उन्हें पृथक किया जा रहा है, प्रभु अपनी कलीसिया को अपने “वचन के जल के स्नान से” पवित्र, निर्दोष, बेदाग़, बेझुर्री बना रहा है (इफिसियों 5:26-27)। 

प्रभु की कलीसिया में यह कार्य किए जाने के लिए प्रभु ने कुछ लोगों को नियुक्त किया है: और उसने कुछ को प्रेरित नियुक्त करके, और कुछ को भविष्यद्वक्ता नियुक्त कर के, और कुछ को सुसमाचार सुनाने वाले नियुक्त कर के, और कुछ को रखवाले और उपदेशक नियुक्त कर के दे दिया। जिस से पवित्र लोग सिद्ध हों जाएं, और सेवा का काम किया जाए, और मसीह की देह उन्नति पाए। जब तक कि हम सब के सब विश्वास, और परमेश्वर के पुत्र की पहचान में एक न हो जाएं, और एक सिद्ध मनुष्य न बन जाएं और मसीह के पूरे डील डौल तक न बढ़ जाएं। ताकि हम आगे को बालक न रहें, जो मनुष्यों की ठग-विद्या और चतुराई से उन के भ्रम की युक्तियों की, और उपदेश की, हर एक बयार से उछाले, और इधर-उधर घुमाए जाते हों। वरन प्रेम में सच्चाई से चलते हुए, सब बातों में उस में जो सिर है, अर्थात मसीह में बढ़ते जाएं। जिस से सारी देह हर एक जोड़ की सहायता से एक साथ मिलकर, और एक साथ गठकर उस प्रभाव के अनुसार जो हर एक भाग के परिमाण से उस में होता है, अपने आप को बढ़ाती है, कि वह प्रेम में उन्नति करती जाए (इफिसियों 4:11-16)।

बाइबल के उपरोक्त खण्ड (इफिसियों 4:11-16) के संदर्भ को यदि उसके पहले के पदों (इफिसियों 4:7-10) के साथ देखें, तो यह स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि कलीसिया में सेवकाई के लिए इन कार्यकर्ताओं को नियुक्त करने वाला प्रभु यीशु ही है (4:7); जो प्रभु के द्वारा मत्ती 16:18 में कही गई बात, “मैं अपनी कलीसिया बनाऊँगा” की पुष्टि है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने इफिसियों 4:11-16 में पाँच भिन्न कार्य और कार्यकर्ताओं का उल्लेख है - प्रेरित, भविष्यद्वक्ता, सुसमाचार प्रचारक, रखवाले, और उपदेशक। अर्थात, प्रभु की प्रत्येक स्थानीय कलीसिया में, जो प्रभु के विश्व-व्यापी कलीसिया का एक अंश है, कलीसिया की उन्नति के लिए प्रभु इन सेवकाइयों को चाहता है, और उनके निर्वाह के लिए उपयुक्त लोगों को खड़ा करता है। ये लोग न तो किसी स्थानीय कलीसिया के सदस्यों द्वारा “चुने” या “नियुक्त” किए जाते हैं; और न ही स्वयं अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार इस दायित्व को उठाते हैं। कलीसिया के निर्माण से संबंधित लेख में, हम ने 1 राजाओं 6:7 में सुलैमान द्वारा बनवाए जा रहे मंदिर से देखा था कि मंदिर का प्रत्येक पत्थर पहले अपने स्थान के लिए काट-तराश कर तैयार किया जाता था, और फिर मंदिर में लाकर उसे उसके निर्धारित स्थान पर लगा दिया जाता था। इसी प्रकार से प्रभु की कलीसिया में कार्य करने के लिए भी प्रभु ही उपयुक्त लोगों को निर्धारित करता है और उन्हें कलीसिया में उनके कार्य के लिए प्रत्यक्ष करता है। यह तथ्य हमें किसी कलीसिया के प्रभु के होने या न होने के विषय पहचान करने का भी एक तरीका देती है - प्रभु की कलीसिया में, प्रभु द्वारा उस की कलीसिया की उन्नति के लिए, ये पाँचों प्रकार की सेवकाइयों को करने वाले लोग मिलेंगे। जो प्रभु की कलीसिया नहीं है, उसमें यह गुण नहीं देखा जाएगा, वरन उस कलीसिया में किसी “चुने गए” अथवा मनुष्य द्वारा नियुक्त व्यक्ति में कलीसिया के संचालन के लिए अधिकार और नियंत्रण देखने को मिलेगा। हम आते कुछ लेखों में इन सेवकाइयों के विषय और इफिसियों 4:11-16 में कलीसिया की उन्नति से संबंधित लिखी बातों को कुछ और विस्तार से देखेंगे।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो गंभीरता से जाँच परख कर देख लें कि आप अपने आप को जिस कलीसिया का अंग या सदस्य मानते हैं वह प्रभु की कलीसिया है भी या नहीं; और यह भी कि आप प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया में जोड़े गए हैं कि नहीं, या किसी मत अथवा डिनॉमिनेशन के विधि-विधानों, परंपराओं, और नियमों के पालन के द्वारा अपने आप को प्रभु की कलीसिया का सदस्य समझ रहे हैं। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि जब तक वास्तविकता के प्रति सचेत हों, तब तक बहुत देर हो जाए, और बात को ठीक करने का अवसर हाथ से निकल जाए।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Grows Through the Appointments Done by the Lord

In this study about the Church, or, the Assembly of Christ Jesus, we have seen that contrary to popular notion and belief, the Church or Assembly is not a physical place, or location, or a building. Rather, Biblically speaking, the Church of the Lord Jesus is the group of people, from all over the world, who individually have accepted the Lord Jesus as their personal savior by faith, and have fully surrendered their lives to Him. We have also seen that it is the Lord Jesus who Himself is building His Church, He has not left this work in the hands of any man, or institution; not even the angels. Since the Church is presently still “Under-Construction”, therefore it is incomplete, imperfect, and various short-comings are felt or seen in it. The Lord is still working to give it the final form and appearance, and eventually, the Church Victorious will be with the Lord as His Bride, glorious and holy, without spot or wrinkle. These facts from the Bible about the Church make it very clear that the actual Church, which will be caught up to be with the Lord, i.e., the group of Born-Again Believers who will be forever with the Lord, cannot be made up of people joined to a “church” by other men or some institution, through fulfilling any rites, rituals, and ceremonies, or built on some man-made concepts and notions; neither will any such contrived “church” ever be acceptable to the Lord. The Lord Jesus will only keep His Church that He has built and made ready; every other so-called “church” not built and made ready by the Lord, will at the end, be left behind to face God’s judgement - no matter what concepts and notions they may have been built upon, and believe in or follow.

This group of people, joined to the Lord’s Church, do not live by and follow the rules and regulations, the doctrines and teachings of any sect, group, or denomination. Instead, under the guidance of God the Holy Spirit, the Church of the Lord Jesus lives in obedience to the Lord and His Word, and while on earth, is actively engaged in the work entrusted to it by the Lord. To fulfill the various responsibilities in the Church, every Christian Believer has been given some Spiritual gift, and we have already seen about them in the earlier articles related to the working of the Holy Spirit. From these facts about the Church of the Lord Jesus, we also learn another very fundamental thing - presently, while on earth, the Church of the Lord Jesus is not static, but is dynamic. People are being added to it, the people Satan has infiltrated into the Church are being exposed and separated out, the Lord is cleaning His Church “with the washing of water by the word” and making it pure, holy, without spot or wrinkle (Ephesians 5:26-27).

The Lord has appointed some people in His Church to do this work: And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head--Christ--from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love (Ephesians 4:11-16). 

When we see this passage along with the preceding verses, i.e., Ephesians 4:7-10, it becomes clear that these appointments of workers are made by the Lord Jesus Himself (Ephesians 4:7); which is an affirmation of what the Lord said in Matthew 16:18 “I will build My church.” God the Holy Spirit has mentioned five different ministries and workers to fulfill the responsibilities given in Ephesians 4:11-16; they are, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers. The implication is that in every local Church, which is a part of the Universal Church of the Lord Jesus, for its growth and edification the Lord desires the ministries of these five kinds, and raises up appropriate people to fulfill them. These people are neither “elected” not “appointed” in any manner by the other members of the local Church; nor do they take these responsibilities upon themselves. In the article related to the building of the Church, we had seen from 1 Kings 6:7, from the example of God’s Temple being built by King Solomon, that every stone for building the Temple was cut, trimmed, and prepared for its assigned place in the Temple outside the Temple; once it was ready, it was brought and fit into its place. Similarly, the Lord too prepares and makes ready the people for fulfilling His will in His Church and appoints them to their place, makes them evident to others for their responsibilities. This fact gives us another way of identifying whether or not a Church is the Church of the Lord Jesus - in the Church of the Lord Jesus, for its edification and growth these five kinds of ministries and people to carry them out will be seen. The Church that is not factually the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ, will not exhibit this characteristic, i.e., these ministries; rather, there will be a concentration of power and control of the church by “elected” or some man-appointed person. In the coming articles we will see more about these ministries and other things given in Ephesians 4:11-16 for the growth and edification of the Church.

If you are a Christian Believer, then seriously and carefully examine and evaluate yourself to ascertain that the “church” you are a member of, is it actually the Church of the Lord Jesus or not; and also, whether or not you have been joined by the Lord into His Church? Or, is it that by being joined to some sect, group, or denomination, through some man-made rules, regulations, and rituals, you are thinking that you are joined to and part of the Lord’s Church; and eventually, when the truth becomes apparent, it will be too late to do anything about it, and you suffer a great, eternal loss.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु में जयवंत

    हमने प्रभु यीशु मसीह की कलीसिया, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के विश्वासी समर्पित शिष्यों के समूह या समुदाय के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से, मत्ती 16:18 के साथ, जहाँ बाइबल में कलीसिया शब्द का सर्वप्रथम प्रयोग किया गया है, सीखना आरंभ किया था। हमने कलीसिया शब्द के अर्थ को समझा, यह देखा कि आम धारणा के विपरीत प्रभु यीशु ने कलीसिया पतरस पर स्थापित नहीं की; और यह देखा कि क्यों ऐसा समझना इस पद की गलत व्याख्या करना है। हमने देखा कि प्रभु यीशु स्वयं ही अपनी कलीसिया का बनाने वाला और उसकी देख-भाल करने वाला है, उसने यह कार्य किसी अन्य अथवा किसी मनुष्य, या संस्था, यहाँ तक कि स्वर्गदूतो को भी नहीं सौंपा है। फिर हमने कलीसिया के लिए बाइबल में प्रयुक्त विभिन्न रूपकों (metaphors) के द्वारा कलीसिया के उद्देश्य और कार्यों को समझा था, और देखा था कि कोई भी मानवीय अथवा संस्थागत रीति अथवा विधि से बनाई गई ‘कलीसिया’ इन रूपकों पर खरी नहीं उतरती है, और केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा बनाई गई उसकी कलीसिया ही इन रूपकों के गुणों का निर्वाह कर सकती है; इसलिए कोई भी मनुष्य किसी भी रीति से प्रभु की कलीसिया को नहीं बना अथवा बनवा सकता है; और न ही स्वयं उसमें जुड़ सकता है न ही किसी अन्य को जोड़ सकता है।

    फिर हमने प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में से उन सात बातों को देखा है, जो कलीसिया के आरंभ से ही सच्ची मसीही कलीसिया तथा उसके सदस्यों के जीवनों का अभिन्न अंग रही हैं। प्रेरितों 2:42 में उन सात में से चार ऐसी बातें दे गई हैं जिन्हें कलीसिया और मसीही जीवन के स्तंभ कहा जाता है, जो कलीसिया और मसीही जीवन की स्थिरता और दृढ़ता के लिए अनिवार्य हैं। किसी भी “कलीसिया” में इन सात बातों की उपस्थिति दिखाती एवं प्रमाणित करती है कि वह “कलीसिया” प्रभु की कलीसिया है। अन्यथा वह “कलीसिया” प्रभु की नहीं, वरन किसी मानवीय अथवा संस्थागत रीतियों के आधार पर मनुष्यों द्वारा बनाई गई ऐसी “कलीसिया” है जिसका प्रभु की सच्ची कलीसिया से कोई संबंध नहीं है; कलीसिया के लिए प्रभु की आशीषों और अनन्तकालीन योजनाओं तथा प्रतिफलों में जिसका कोई भाग नहीं है। वरन वह अनन्त विनाश के लिए रखे गए प्रभु के खेत में उगने वाले उन जंगली पौधों के समान है जो खेत में रहते हुए पलते, बढ़ते और पोषित तो होते रहे, किन्तु कटनी के समय पृथक कर के उन्हें उनके पूर्व-निर्धारित अनन्त विनाश के लिए फेंक दिया गया (मत्ती 13:24-30, 37-42)।

    मत्ती 16:18 में प्रभु यीशु ने अपनी कलीसिया के एक और गुण को भी बताया है “... और अधोलोक के फाटक उस पर प्रबल न होंगे”; अर्थात प्रभु की कलीसिया प्रभु में रहने और प्रभु से प्राप्त सुरक्षा के कारण सदा जयवंत बनी रहेगी, शैतान की कोई योजना, कोई षड्यंत्र उसके विरुद्ध सफल नहीं होगा। प्रभु की कही इस बात के अभिप्राय को समझने के लिए प्रभु द्वारा यहाँ पर प्रयुक्त वाक्यांश अधोलोक के फाटक के इन शब्दों को समझना आवश्यक है। शब्द “अधोलोक” यूनानी भाषा के शब्द hades (हेडीस) का अनुवाद है और एक ऐसे पीड़ा के स्थान के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है जहाँ पर पार्थिव जीवन में परमेश्वर के साथ अपने संबंधों को ठीक नहीं करने वालों की आत्माएं उनके अंतिम न्याय के लिए रखी गई हैं; जैसे कि प्रभु द्वारा लाजरस और धनी व्यक्ति के दृष्टांत (लूका 16:19-31) में दिखाया गया है, उस धनी व्यक्ति की आत्मा अधोलोक डाली गई (लूका 16:23)। अर्थात अधोलोक शैतानी आत्माओं और शक्तियों का स्थान है। बाइबल में, विशेषकर पुराने नियम में, किसी नगर या शहर का फाटक वह स्थान होता था जहाँ पर उस नगर अथवा शहर के मुख्य अधिकारी और न्यायी बैठा करते थे, और लोगों का न्याय करते थे (व्यवस्थाविवरण 16:18; व्यवस्थाविवरण 21:19-20; रूत 4:1-2; अय्यूब 29:7-10)। अर्थात किसी स्थान के फाटक का जन होने से तात्पर्य होता था उस स्थान का प्रमुख न्यायिक या प्रशासनिक अधिकारी। इसलिए मत्ती 16:18 में इन दोनों शब्दों को साथ देखने से अभिप्राय बनता है शैतानी स्थान की प्रमुख शक्तियां। और प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने दावा किया है कि उसकी कलीसिया के विरुद्ध शैतान की कोई शक्ति प्रबल नहीं हो सकेगी, उसे पराजित नहीं कर सकेगी।

    प्रभु के इस दावे को हम आज वास्तविकता में कार्यान्वित होते हुए क्यों नहीं देखते हैं? ध्यान कीजिए कि, जैसा हम पहले देख चुके हैं, प्रभु की कलीसिया अभी निर्माणाधीन है; अभी अपने अंतिम स्वरूप में नहीं आई है। प्रभु अपने लोगों को तैयार कर के कलीसिया में उनके निर्धारित स्थान पर जोड़ता चला जा रहा है। प्रभु अभी अपनी कलीसिया को वचन के जल के स्नान के द्वारा बेदाग और बेझुर्री, पवित्र और निर्दोष बना रहा है (इफिसियों 5:26-27); यह प्रक्रिया चल रही है, पूरी नहीं हुई है। साथ ही एक बार फिर मत्ती 13:24-30 के प्रभु के दृष्टांत पर ध्यान कीजिए - प्रभु की कलीसिया में प्रभु के जनों के अतिरिक्त शैतान के ‘पौधे’ भी हैं - जो उनके अनन्त विनाश के लिए पहचान कर लिए गए हैं और कटनी के समय अलग कर दिए जाएंगे। इन कारणों से कलीसिया अभी इस पृथ्वी पर अपने उस तेजस्वी और जयवंत स्वरूप में देखने को नहीं मिलती है, जिसका वर्णन उसके विषय वचन में किया गया है। किन्तु प्रभु की कलीसिया में प्रभु के अनेकों समर्पित जन व्यक्तिगत रीति से, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से, यह जयवंत जीवन जीते हुए देखे जा सकते हैं। प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन पर कलीसिया प्रभु के पास उठाई जाएगी, और फिर प्रभु की दुल्हन, आत्मिक यरूशलेम के रूप में प्रभु के साथ रहेगी (प्रकाशितवाक्य 21:2, 9-10)। प्रभु की इस कलीसिया, उसकी दुल्हन, उस आत्मिक यरूशलेम के लिए लिखा है, “और उस में कोई अपवित्र वस्तु या घृणित काम करने वाला, या झूठ का गढ़ने वाला, किसी रीति से प्रवेश न करेगा; पर केवल वे लोग जिन के नाम मेम्ने के जीवन की पुस्‍तक में लिखे हैं” (प्रकाशितवाक्य 21:27)।

    यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो अभी आपके पास इस बात को जाँचने और परखने का समय है कि क्या आपका नाम वास्तव में मेमने की जीवन की पुस्तक में लिखा गया है कि नहीं? क्या आप प्रभु की कलीसिया के वास्तविक सदस्य हैं, या मनुष्यों के द्वारा बनाई गई किसी डिनोमिनेशन या मत या समूह के सदस्य मात्र हैं; अथवा, मत्ती 13:24-30 के प्रभु के दृष्टांत के जंगली बीजों के उस पौधे के समान तो नहीं हैं जो स्वामी की देखभाल, पालन-पोषण, और सुरक्षा के कारण अपने आप को उसके खलिहान में जाने के लिए निश्चिंत समझे हुए है, किन्तु कटनी के समय जो कटु सत्य सामने आएगा, उसके लिए तैयार नहीं है। वह जंगली बीज अपनी नियति नहीं बदल सकता था; किन्तु आपके पास अभी अपनी अनन्तकालीन नियति समझने और सुधारने के लिए समय और अवसर है। प्रभु द्वारा दिए गए इस समय और अवसर को व्यर्थ न जानें दें; उसका सदुपयोग करें और अपने अनन्तकाल को सुरक्षित एवं आशीषित कर लें।

    यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Victorious and Overcoming

    We had started this series on the Church of the Lord Jesus, i.e., the called-out group of people who have believed in and surrendered their lives to the Lord Jesus to live in obedience to Him and His word, with considering Matthew 16:18, where the word “Church” has been used for the first time. We had seen that contrary to common thinking and popular belief, the Lord did not establish His Church on Peter; and we also saw how and why having this concept is a misinterpretation and misuse of this verse. We saw that the Lord Jesus Himself is the one who builds, looks-after and maintains His Church, and He has not entrusted this work to any man, institution, or even angels. Then, through the various metaphors used in the Bible about the Church, we had seen and understood the purposes and works of the Church. These things had also made it apparent to us that no “church” established and functioning through any man devised methods, or man-made institutional rules and regulations, will ever be able to live according to the characteristics and qualities that are present in the Lord’s Church. Therefore, no man can ever make or maintain the Church of the Lord Jesus; no man can ever join himself or anyone else to the Lord’s Church.

    Then from Acts 2:38-42 we saw the seven things which have always been an integral part of the Lord’s Church, since its inception. In Acts 2:42, four of those seven things are grouped together, which are also known as the “pillars of Christian life and the Church”, essential for stability and being firmly established. The presence of these seven things in any local Church demonstrates that the Church is the Lord’s Church. Else, that church is not the Lord’s but man-made and managed, and is a church which has no true relationship with the Lord God and His actual Church; such a man-made church and its members will have nothing to do with the eternal blessings and rewards that God has kept in place for His Church. Rather, they will be like the tares sown in God’s field, that were planted and grew, that were nurtured and looked after, along with the plants of the ‘good seed’ in the field; but since their being sown, they had been ear-marked and kept for being separated out and cast away into eternal destruction (Matthew 13:24-30, 37-42).

    Matthew 16:18 also states another characteristic of the Church of the Lord Jesus, “... the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it”; meaning that the Church of the Lord, because of remaining in the Lord and His safety, will always remain overcoming and victorious against the wiles and devices of the devil; none of Satan’s devious strategies against it will ever succeed. To understand this statement of the Lord, it is necessary to understand the phrase “the gates of Hades” used here by the Lord. The Greek word ‘hades’ is used for a place of terrible torment where the souls of the people who did not set their lives right with God while alive and living on earth have been kept, awaiting their final judgement; as the Lord indicated in the parable of Lazarus and the Rich man (Luke 16:19-31), in which the soul of the Rich man was cast into hades (Luke 16:23). In other words, Hades is a place of satanic powers and spirits. In the Bible, particularly in the Old Testament, the gate of the city or town used to be the place where the elders and judges of that town or city used to sit and judge people, dispense justice for various matters (Deuteronomy 16:18; Deuteronomy 21:19-20; Ruth 4:1-2; Job 29:7-10). Therefore, to be a person belonging to the gate of a place implied being an elder, or an administrative officer, or a judge of that place. Therefore, by placing these meanings into the phrase of Matthew 16:18, we can infer it implies the prominent or ruling powers of that satanic place Hades. So, through this phrase, the Lord was assuring that no powers of Satan could ever prevail against His Church.

    So, then, why do we not see this assurance given by the Lord practically before us today? Remember and recall, as we have seen earlier, the Church of the Lord is still “under-construction”; it has not yet reached its ultimate form and strength. The Lord is still adding His people into it; is still cleaning and purifying His Church by His Word to make it without spot or wrinkle (Ephesians 5:26-27); this process is still underway; it has not been completed as yet. Also, once again take a look at the parable of Matthew 13:24-30 - in God’s field, in the Church of the Lord, presently, the tares, earmarked for eternal destruction at the end time, are still present along with the ‘good seed.’ For these reasons, we do not get to see the Lord’s Church in that holy and glorious form that has been described in God’s Word, in which it is meant to be. But in the Church of the Lord, many of the Lord’s surrendered, obedient, and committed people can be seen living this overcoming and victorious life individually, through the power of the Holy Spirit residing in them. With the second coming of the Lord, the Church of the Lord will be caught up to be with the Lord, and then this Bride of Christ will live as the Spiritual Jerusalem with the Lord (Revelation 21:2, 9-10). For this Church of the Lord, His Bride, the Spiritual Jerusalem, it is written, “But there shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life” (Revelation 21:27).

    If you are a Christian Believer, then you now have the time and opportunity to evaluate and ensure that your name is written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. Carefully examine and ascertain that you are a member of the actual Church of the Lord Jesus, and not just of any man-made sect, group, or denomination; or like the tares of Matthew 13:24-30, are resting contended because of the imputed care and security provided by the Master to His ‘good seed’ that they too are safe and secure, whereas they were actually earmarked for eternal destruction - a bitter, unpalatable truth that will come out at the end. Do not waste away this time and opportunity given to you by the Lord; make full use of it and secure your eternal future, blessings, and rewards with the Lord God.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु यीशु के लोगों के लिए चौथे स्तंभ, प्रार्थना का महत्व

प्रभु की कलीसिया में, प्रभु द्वारा जोड़ दिए लोगों के जीवनों में, कलीसिया के आरंभ के समय से ही सात बातें देखी जाती रही हैं, जिन्हें प्रेरितों 2:38-42 में दिया गया है। इनमें से अंतिम चार, एक साथ, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई हैं, और इन्हें मसीही जीवन तथा कलीसिया की स्थिरता के लिए चार स्तंभ भी कहा जाता है; तथा इनके लिए इसी पद में यह भी लिखा है कि उस आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग इन बातों का पालन करने में “लौलीन रहे”। हमने इन चारों में से पहली तीन, और सातों में से पहली छः बातों को पिछले लेखों में देखा है। आज इन चार में से चौथी तथा सात में से सातवीं बात, प्रार्थना में लौलीन रहने के बारे में देखते हैं।

यहाँ हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु यीशु के उन आरंभिक अनुयायियों के जीवन में, आरंभ से ही प्रार्थना करने का बहुत महत्व रहा है। सामान्यतः परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना करने को परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगने या उससे प्राप्त करने के प्रयास करने के अभिप्राय से देखा और समझा जाता है। किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार परमेश्वर से प्रार्थना का अभिप्राय होता है परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करना, जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह बहुधा किया करते थे (मरकुस 1:35; मत्ती 14:23; लूका 5:16; 6:12-13)। यह वार्तालाप औपचारिकता का निर्वाह नहीं, अपितु, किसी अंतरंग मित्र के साथ दिल खोल कर बात करने के समान है। अपने मन की बात परमेश्वर से खुल कर कहना, और परमेश्वर के मन की बात को उससे सुनना। अर्थात, प्रार्थना करना, परमेश्वर से संगति करने के समान है, निरंतर हर बात के लिए उसके संपर्क में बने रहना, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानकर उसके अनुसार कार्य करना। जब मसीही विश्वासी परमेश्वर के साथ ऐसे निकट संबंध और संपर्क में रहेगा, परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार अपना हर निर्णय और कार्य करेगा, तो स्वतः ही न केवल उसकी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलेगा (यूहन्ना 15:7; 1 यूहन्ना 5:14), वरन् साथ ही उसके जीवन में परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य भी प्रकट रहेगी, उसके कार्य भी सफल होंगे, और वह परिस्थितियों द्वारा विचलित और निराश भी नहीं होगा। यह इसलिए क्योंकि उसे विश्वास रहेगा के जो कुछ भी उसके जीवन में हो रहा है, वह परमेश्वर की इच्छा और योजना के अंतर्गत है, और अन्ततः उससे उसकी भलाई ही होगी (रोमियों 8:28)।

इसीलिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने प्रेरित पौलुस द्वारा लिखवाया, “निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहो” (1 थिस्स्लुनीकियों 5:17)। इसका यह तात्पर्य नहीं है कि सब कार्य छोड़कर किसी एकांत स्थान में आँख बंद करके और हाथ जोड़कर बैठे रहो और परमेश्वर से कुछ न कुछ कहते रहो। वरन् यह कि हर समय, हर बात के लिए, परमेश्वर के साथ मन में एक मूक संवाद, एक वार्तालाप चलते रहना चाहिए, हर बात के लिए उसकी इच्छा जानते रहना चाहिए, उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार करते रहना चाहिए। जो इस प्रकार परमेश्वर के साथ अपना घनिष्ठ संबंध बनाए रखते हैं, वे प्रभु के इस वचन को भी समझ सकते हैं और उसके प्रति आश्वस्त रह सकते हैं कि समय और आवश्यकता के अनुसार उन्हें प्रभु से वचन और सहायता मिलती रहेगी (यशायाह 30:21; लूका 12:11-12); तथा वे इन अंत के दिनों की भयानक घटनाओं से बचने और शांति के साथ रहने वाले भी होंगे (लूका 21:34-36; प्रकाशितवाक्य 3:10)।

मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए प्रार्थना करना कुछ निर्धारित समयों पर, किसी तय संख्या के अनुसार गिनकर करना नहीं है, जैसा हम पुराने नियम के कुछ संतों और परमेश्वर के भक्तों के साथ देखते हैं (भजन 55:17; भजन 119:164; दानिय्येल 6:10), वरन् हर पल, हर समय परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क में बने रहना, उससे हर बात के लिए वार्तालाप में बने रहना है। जो इस भाव में जीवन व्यतीत करेगा, फिर वह इस एहसास के साथ भी जीवन जीएगा कि मैं परमेश्वर के साथ, और परमेश्वर मेरे साथ निरंतर विद्यमान हैं। और ऐसी स्थिति में फिर उसके लिए किसी लोभ-लालच, बुरे विचार आदि में बहक कर पाप में गिरना कठिन हो जाएगा, वह शैतान के द्वारा सरलता से बहकाया-गिराया नहीं जाएगा। आप स्वयं अनुमान लगा सकते हैं कि जो इस प्रकार से प्रार्थना में “लौलीन” रहेगा, उसके  आत्मिक जीवन का स्तर कैसा होगा। साथ ही, परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार से संगति और संपर्क वही बना कर रख सकता है, जो प्रभु द्वारा अपनाया गया हो, प्रभु की कलीसिया के साथ जोड़ा गया हो। किसी मानवीय या संस्थागत प्रक्रिया के निर्वाह के द्वारा “कलीसिया” से जुड़ने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए परमेश्वर के साथ इस प्रकार प्रार्थना में जुड़े रहना संभव ही नहीं होगा; और न ही उसके जीवन में प्रार्थना के उत्तर एवं सामर्थ्य दिखाई देगी।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो आपका प्रार्थना का जीवन कैसा है? क्या आपके लिए प्रार्थना करना परमेश्वर से कुछ माँगना ही है, या एक अंतरंग मित्र के समान उससे अपने दिल की सभी बातें साझा करना, तथा उसके दिल की बातों को जानकर उनके अनुसार कार्य एवं व्यवहार करना है? आप का प्रार्थना का जीवन और प्रार्थना के प्रति आपका रवैया प्रकट करेगा कि आप वास्तव में प्रभु द्वारा उसकी कलीसिया से जोड़े गए जन हैं कि नहीं। यदि कहीं कोई कमी है, किसी सुधार की आवश्यकता है, तो अभी समय रहते जो भी ठीक करना है, वह कर लीजिए; कहीं बाद में समय और अवसर न मिले और कोई बहुत भारी कीमत चुकानी पड़ जाए।

The Importance for the Lord’s People of the Fourth Pillar, Prayer

In the Church of the Lord Jesus, in the lives of the people joined to the Church by the Lord, since the inception of the Church, seven things have been seen, which are given in Acts 2:38-42. Of these seven the last four have been given together in one sentence, in Acts 2:42; it is also written in the same sentence that the members of the first Church “continued steadfastly” in them. These four have also been called the four pillars giving stability and firmness to Christian life and the Church. We have seen the first three of these four, i.e., the first six of the seven things in the previous articles. Today, we will look at the last one, the importance of praying steadfastly amongst the Lord’s people.

We see from this verse that in the lives of those initial disciples of the Lord, prayer had a very important place. Usually, prayer is seen and understood as asking something from God, or pleading to get something from Him. But according to God’s Word the Bible, prayer is conversing with God, as the Lord Jesus often used to do (Mark 1:35; Matthew 14:23; Luke 5:16; 6:12-13). This conversation is not the fulfillment of a formality, rather, it is having an open-hearted conversation with a close and dear friend. It is unhesitatingly, freely sharing all you have in your heart with God, and listening to what God has to say to you. In other words, to pray is like having a fellowship session with God, to be in close touch with Him for everything, learning His will and way for everything and doing accordingly. When a Christian Believer will remain in such close contact and relationship with God, will take every decision in God’s will and fulfill it too, then automatically his prayers will answered in the affirmative (John 15:7; 1 John 5:14), and also the power of God too will be manifest in his life, he will be successful in all that he does, and he will never be discouraged or overwhelmed with situations and problems. This is since he will know and keep trusting that whatever is happening in his life is in the will of God and eventually will turn out to be for his good (Romans 8:28).

That is why God the Holy Spirit had it written through the Apostle Paul, “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). This does not mean to leave everything aside and be sitting alone all the time with closed eyes and folded hands and keep saying something or the other to God. Rather, it means to be in a constant state of silent conversation with God about everything happening in and around you, and keep doing as the Lord God guides and directs in every situation. Those who maintain their close, intimate relationship with God in this manner, they can well understand this verse; they will always remain assured and confident that as and when they need God’s help and guidance, they will keep receiving it (Isaiah 30:21; Luke 12:11-12). They will also be able to live in peace and with confidence through the terrible events and things of these end times that we are in (Luke 21:34-36; Revelation 3:10).

For the Christian Believers there are no set times of the day or the prescribed number of times to pray, as we see in the lives of some of the Old Testament saints and prophets of God (Psalm 55:17; Psalm 119:164; Daniel 6:10). The Born-Again child of God is expected to remain in constant conversation and touch with God about everything. The person who lives with this attitude, will also be confident that at all times and for everything he is with God and God is with him. Then, with such confidence it will be very difficult for him to be led astray into sin through any temptation, covetousness, wrong thoughts and desires etc. and Satan will not be able to make him fall into his traps. You can imagine for yourself the high spiritual state of those who “continue steadfastly” in prayer in this manner. This also implies that this kind of constant fellowship and conversation is only possible for a person who has been accepted by the Lord and has been joined to His Church by the Lord. No person joined by any man, or any Institution devised process to the Church will be able to remain joined in prayer with God in this manner; nor will answered prayers and the power of prayer be seen in his life.

If you are a Christian Believer, then what is the state of your prayer life? Does prayer only mean asking God for things, or is it a time of sharing your heart with a close intimate friend, learning what is on His heart for you, and then living your life accordingly? Your prayer life and your attitude towards prayer will make evident whether you actually have been joined to the Lord’s Church or not. Evaluate and see, and if there is any deficiency anywhere, if there is anything that needs to be rectified, do it now while you have time and opportunity available from God. May it not be so that by the time you realize, and want to take any remedial measures, it is too late, and you end up paying a heavy price.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then take a decision in its favor now to secure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. The Lord's security and blessings are present where there is obedience of the Lord, where His Word is honored and followed. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the time and opportunity to do so right now. Ask the Lord Jesus to forgive your sins, and voluntarily and sincerely surrender yourselves into His hands - this is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. All you have to do is say a short prayer, voluntarily and with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude. You can do this in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. One prayer said with a sincere and surrendered heart will turn your present and future, your life here on earth and in the next world, forever and make you heavenly and blessed. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so? The decision is yours.

प्रभु भोज - उद्देश्य और महत्व

पिछले लेखों में हमने प्रभु द्वारा अपनी मेज़, प्रभु भोज, के स्थापित करने से संबंधित कुछ शिक्षाओं और निहितार्थों के बारे में देखा था। हमने देखा था कि किस प्रकार से यह सभी शिष्यों के प्रभु में एक परिवार बन जाने को दिखाती है। हमने यह भी देखा था कि यहूदा इस्करियोती, जो उसे दिए गए समय और सभी अवसरों के बावजूद, कभी प्रभु के परिवार का सदस्य नहीं बना, उसे इस मेज़ में भाग नहीं मिला। पिछले लेख में हमने प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने से सम्बन्धित, कुरिन्थुस की कलीसिया में पाई जाने वाली कुछ त्रुटियों के बारे में, तथा जो प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेते हैं उनके लिए कुछ चेतावनियों के बारे में देखा था। आज हम प्रभु भोज में भाग लेने के उद्देश्यों और प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों के लिए प्रभु द्वारा स्थापित की गई मेज़ के महत्व के बारे में देखेंगे। 

प्रभु के द्वारा उसकी मेज में भाग लेने के औचित्य, उद्देश्य, और महत्व को समझने के द्वारा हम समझ सकते हैं कि प्रभु ने इस मेज़ की स्थापना अपने लोगों को शैतान की चालाकियों और उसकी भ्रष्ट बातों से शुद्ध और पवित्र रखने के लिए (यूहन्ना 13:8b, 10a), तथा अपने शिष्यों को उसके सुसमाचार प्रचार के प्रति समर्पित एवं आज्ञाकारी बनाए रखने के लिए की, और इसीलिए उसमें नियमित भाग लेते रहने के लिए कहा। इससे हम यह भी समझ सकते हैं कि क्यों यहूदा इस्करियोती को मेज़ में भाग नहीं मिला - क्योंकि वह मेज़ के उद्देश्यों को पूरा ही नहीं करता था। साथ ही हम यह भी समझने पाते हैं कि क्यों जो लोग एक रस्म के समान इसमें भाग लेते हैं, उनमें इसकी सामर्थ्य दिखाई नहीं देती है, और वे अपने लिए कितना बड़ा दण्ड मोल ले रहे हैं। क्योंकि मेज़ में भाग लेने से कोई प्रभु की दृष्टि में धर्मी नहीं बनता है - प्रभु ने तो जो उसकी दृष्टि में धर्मी हैं, उन्हीं के लिए मेज़ को स्थापित किया था, अधर्मियों को धर्मी बनाने के लिए नहीं। किन्तु अनुचित रीति से भाग लेने, या किसी को भाग दिलवाने के द्वारा व्यक्ति अपने लिए प्रभु से दण्ड और ताड़ना का भागी अवश्य बन जाता है। उचित रीति से भाग लेना आशीष का कारण है, क्योंकि व्यक्ति अपने आप को जाँच और सुधार कर मसीही जीवन में आगे बढ़ सकता है; और अनुचित रीति से या रस्म के समान भाग लेने और देने से व्यक्ति स्वयं ही अपने लिए दण्ड कमा लेता है।

क्योंकि प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले, व्यक्ति को अपने आप को जाँचना है, अपने पाप और गलतियों को प्रभु के सामने स्वीकार करना है, इसलिए मेज़ में भाग लेना भी एक उचित समय-अवधि के अनुसार होना चाहिए, जिससे अपने पिछले दिनों के जीवन को सहजता से स्मरण और पुनःअवलोकन किया जा सके। आरंभिक कलीसिया के लोग इसमें लौलीन रहते थे, प्रतिदिन, घर-घर में प्रभु की मेज़ में सम्मिलित होते थे (प्रेरितों 2:46); किन्तु कुछ समय के पश्चात, यह सामूहिक एकत्रित होना, और रोटी तोड़ना या प्रभु के मेज़ में भाग लेना, सप्ताह के पहले दिन की आराधना सभा (1 कुरिन्थियों 16:2) के साथ जुड़ गया (प्रेरितों 20:7)। सप्ताह भर की यह अवधि, मेज़ में भाग लेने से पहले अपने जीवन का पुनः अवलोकन करने और हफते भर में हुई किसी भी गलती, बुराई, या पाप को ध्यान करके प्रभु के सामने मानने के लिए सहज रहती है। महीने में एक बार, या अन्य किसी समय-अवधि के अनुसार मेज़ में भाग लेने का वचन में कोई समर्थन नहीं है। साथ ही यह कोई रस्म भी नहीं है, इसे भी हम देख चुके हैं।

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग लेने के महत्व के प्रति आपका क्या दृष्टिकोण है? ध्यान कीजिए, 1 कुरिन्थियों 11:17-32 के पदों में प्रभु और पवित्र आत्मा ने मेज़ में भाग लेने को वैकल्पिक, या, इच्छानुसार नहीं लिखा है, वरन अनिवार्य किया है। इन पदों में स्पष्ट आया है कि मण्डली के लोगों को भाग लेना था; किन्तु यह भी उतना ही स्पष्ट है कि उचित रीति से भाग लेना था। प्रभु की मेज़ में भाग न लेना, प्रभु की अनाज्ञाकारिता है, दण्डनीय है; और अनुचित रीति से भाग लेना भी दण्डनीय है। अर्थात, प्रभु ने अपने लोगों के लिए एक बहुत संकरा किन्तु बहुत उत्तम मार्ग दिया है, जिससे हम अपनी पिछली बुराइयों, गलतियों, पापों को लिए हुए मसीही जीवन में आगे न बढ़ें, वरन प्रभु से क्षमा और आशीष के साथ मसीही जीवन में उन्नत होते चले जाएं।

यदि आपने अभी तक प्रभु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। यदि आपने अभी तक नया जन्म, उद्धार नहीं पाया है, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा नहीं माँगी है, तो अभी आपके पास समय और अवसर है कि यह कर लें। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” परमेश्वर आपके साथ संगति रखने की बहुत लालसा रखता है तथा आपको आशीषित देखना चाहता है, लेकिन इसे सम्भव करना आपका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय है। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी। क्या आप अभी समय और अवसर होते हुए, इस प्रार्थना को नहीं करेंगे? निर्णय आपका है।

Holy Communion - Purpose and Importance

In the previous articles we have seen some teachings and implications from the Lord's establishing His Table, the Holy Communion. We had seen how it symbolized the disciples becoming one family in the Lord. We had also seen how Judas Iscariot, who never became a part of the Lord's family despite all the time and opportunity given to him, was not made a participant in the Table. In the last article we had seen about some errors related to partaking in the Holy Communion that had come into the Church at Corinth, and some cautions that the participants need to observe for participating in the Lord's Table. Today we will see the purposes and importance of participating in the Holy Communion instituted by the Lord Jesus for His disciples.

It is only after understanding and learning about the rational, purpose, and importance of the “Breaking of Bread” can we realize and know why the Lord instituted this Table for His true and committed disciples, and asked them to regularly take part in it till He comes again - so that they may remain safe and secure from the wiles of the devil, remain pure and clean from the corruption Satan brings upon them (John 13:8b, 10a), and to keep His disciples committed to propagating the gospel and remain obedient to Him and His Word. With this understanding we can also see why Judas Iscariot was not made a partaker of the Holy Communion - since he did not fulfill the purposes of the Lord’s Table. This also shows us that those who partake in the Lord’s Table as a ritual, without understanding its importance and being committed to its purposes, why the power of this Table is not seen in their lives, and what terrible retribution they are bringing upon themselves. We all need to understand and be very clear in our minds that no one becomes righteous in God’s eyes by participating in the “Breaking of Bread”; rather, the Lord established this Table for those to partake, who already are righteous and holy in His sight, and not to make the unrighteous into righteous people. On the other hand, a person’s partaking in an unworthy manner, or getting someone else to partake in an unworthy manner makes him liable for Lord’s judgement and retribution. Participating worthily is a source of blessings, since the Christian Believer examines and corrects himself and grows in his Christian life and nearness to the Lord; whereas by participating unworthily or as a mere ritual, a person invites the Lord’s punishment upon himself.

Since, before participating in the Holy Communion, a person has to examine himself, has to accept and acknowledge his wrongs and mistakes before the Lord, therefore, the participation too must be within an appropriate time-period, so that the doings of the past days can be easily recalled and evaluated. The members of the initial Church “continued steadfastly” in it, gathering from house to house, and breaking bread daily (Acts 2:46). But after some time, this gathering together and Breaking of Bread, got joined with gathering together on the first day of the week for worship (1 Corinthians 16:2; Acts 20:7). This time period of one week is a convenient period to recall and recollect what a person may have done or said, and then bring before the Lord wherever he may have erred or fallen short. There is no support or affirmation in God’s Word of the practice of participating in the Lord’s Table once a month, or according to any other time period. We have also already seen that participating in it is not a ritual or a formality that has to be carried out.

If you are a Christian Believer, then what is your understanding and perspective about partaking in the Breaking of Bread instituted by the Lord. Take careful note that in 1 Corinthians 11:17-32, the Lord and the Holy Spirit have not made this participation a matter of choice, or according to one’s convenience; rather it has been made mandatory for the Christian Believers. It has been clearly stated in this passage that the members of the Church had to participate in the Breaking of Bread. But it has also been equally clearly stated that they had to do it in an appropriate manner, worthily. Not to partake of the Lord’s Table is disobeying the Lord, and therefore, renders a person accountable to the Lord for this disobedience; and, participating unworthily or in an inappropriate manner too invites the Lord’s retribution. In other words, the Lord has given a very narrow, but a very beneficial and blessed way for the Christian Believer, so that no one moves forward in life carrying the burden of past mistakes, wrongs, and unforgiven sins; rather having obtained Lord’s forgiveness, His people should move forwards with blessings and be edified in their Christian life.
