आराधना के लिए परिवर्तित (3) 

हमने अपने अध्ययन में देखा है कि परमेश्वर की आराधना करना नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में एक बहुत आशीष पूर्ण और फलदायी गतिविधि है; यदि उसे उस प्रकार से किया जाए, जैसे कि परमेश्वर चाहता है - आत्मा और सच्चाई से। लेकिन फिर भी कलीसियाओं और मण्डलियों में इस बहुत महत्वपूर्ण विषय के बारे में बहुत ही कम कोई शिक्षा दी जाती है। हमने यह देखा है कि यद्यपि परमेश्वर के लोग परमेश्वर की उस तरह से आराधना करने के बारे में, जैसी वह चाहता है, चाहे समझते और जानते न भी हों, लेकिन फिर भी परमेश्वर ने उन्हें इधर-उधर हाथ पैर मारने और जैसा भी उन्हें अच्छा लगा, उनकी इच्छा हो, उस प्रकार से करने के लिए असहाय नहीं छोड़ा है। परमेश्वर मनुष्य के साथ संपर्क और संगति रखना चाहता है, लेकिन ऐसे जिससे उसका आदर कम न होने पाए। इसीलिए, अपने वचन में, परमेश्वर ने पर्याप्त उदाहरण दिए हैं, जिनके द्वारा लोग देख तथा सीख सकें कि वे परमेश्वर के पास कैसे आएँ, उसकी आराधना किस प्रकार से करें। क्योंकि उसे अच्छे से पता है कि अधिकांश लोग अपने आप से वैसे आराधक नहीं बनने पाएँगे, जैसे वह चाहता है, इसलिए परमेश्वर ने इस बात के भी निर्देश दिए हैं कि लोग उसके सच्चे आराधक कैसे बनें। हमने 2 इतिहास 29 अध्याय में दिए गए राजा हिजकिय्याह के उदाहरण को लिया है, परिवर्तन की इस प्रक्रिया को देखने और समझने के लिए, जो चार क़दमों से होकर पूरी होती है। पहला कदम है कि प्रभु के पीछे चलने का आरंभिक निर्णय लेने के बावजूद, यदि विश्वासी खराई और पूर्ण प्रतिबद्धता के साथ यह नहीं कर रहा है, तो सबसे पहले उसे प्रभु परमेश्वर के पीछे पूरे समर्पण और प्रतिबद्धता के साथ चलने का दृढ़ निर्णय लेना चाहिए, और अपने व्यवहारिक जीवन के द्वारा उसके पालन को दिखाना भी चाहिए। दूसरा कदम, जिसे हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था, है कि विश्वासी को पवित्र आत्मा के मंदिर की देखभाल में लग जाना चाहिए, अर्थात अपने हृदय की आत्मिक दशा की देखभाल करने में, विश्वासी के मन में क्या जाता है और उससे क्या बाहर आता है उसे इस पर नियंत्रण रखना चाहिए, और उसे अपने आप को पवित्र आत्मा के आधीन कर देना चाहिए। आज हम इस प्रक्रिया के तीसरे कदम को देखेंगे।

3. 2 इतिहास 29:4-19 - अपने हृदय में परमेश्वर की बातों को स्वच्छ करके सही स्थान पर बहाल करना - इन पदों में हम देखते हैं कि परमेश्वर के घर के द्वार खोलने और उनकी मरम्मत करने के बाद, अगला कार्य जो हिजकिय्याह करता है, वे कुछ महत्वपूर्ण बातें हैं जिन्हें वह एक विशेष क्रम में करता है:

• पद 4 - लेवियों और याजकों को एकत्रित करके एक स्थान पर लाता है।

• पद 5 - उनसे पहले अपने आप को पवित्र करने को कहता है, और उसके बाद परमेश्वर के घर को साफ करके, उसके अन्दर के कूड़े को बाहर निकालने को कहता है। ध्यान कीजिए कि हिजकिय्याह ने उन्हें जो लेवी या याजक नहीं थे, परमेश्वर के घर को साफ़ और तैयार करने के लिए नहीं कहा। मंदिर की देखभाल करना, उसे व्यवस्थित रखना याजकों और लेवियों का कार्य था, और केवल उन्हें ही इसे करना था (पद 11)। साथ ही यह भी ध्यान कीजिए कि “पवित्र” शब्द का अभिप्राय है शुद्ध और समर्पित करके परमेश्वर के कार्य के लिए पृथक कर देना।

• पद 6-9 - हिजकिय्याह अपने लोगों के पापों का अंगीकार करता है; उनके साथ परमेश्वर के व्यवहार को स्वीकार करता है कि वह सही था, और उन पर आया हुआ परमेश्वर का प्रकोप के सर्वथा उपयुक्त था।

• पद 10-11 - हिजकिय्याह इस स्थिति के समाधान और निवारण की बात कहता है, किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रकोप से बाहर आया जाए।

• पद 18-19 - लेवियों के नामों की सूची, याजकों द्वारा मंदिर की सफाई करने के पश्चात, फिर पद 18-19 में लिखा है कि लेवियों और याजकों ने हिजकिय्याह को बताया कि मंदिर स्वच्छ कर दिया गया है, और उसका सामन भी साफ़ करके पवित्र उपयोग के लिए उन के स्थानों पर रख दिया गया है।

    यह सब हो जाने के बाद ही फिर, 20 पद से आगे, मन्दिर में आराधना बहाल होती है; जिसके बारे में हम आने वाले लेखों में देखेंगे।

लेकिन हमारे आज के लिए इस से क्या शिक्षाएँ हैं, विशेषकर हमारे परमेश्वर को भावता हुआ आराधक होने और वैसी आराधना चढ़ाने के सन्दर्भ में, जैसी परमेश्वर चाहता है। इस बात को हम अपने अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

 यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Being Transformed To Worship (3)

In our study we have seen that worshipping God is such a blessed, and fruitful activity in the life of a Born-Again Christian Believer; provided, it is done in the way God desires - in spirit and in truth. Yet there is hardly any teaching given on this important subject in the Churches or Assemblies. We have seen that though God’s people may not know or understand how to worship God in the manner He wants it done, yet God has not left them helpless to grope around and do things any which way they please, or suits their fancy. God wants to communicate and fellowship with man, but in a manner that would not in any way belittle Him. Therefore, in His Word, God has given ample examples to show and teach people how they should approach and communicate with Him, worship Him. Since He well knows that most people, on their own, will not be able to become the kind of worshippers He is looking for, therefore God has also placed instructions about how people can become His true worshippers. We have taken the example of King Hezekiah, as given in 2 Chronicles 29, for our study of this transformation which takes place through four steps. The first step is that despite his initial decision to follow the Lord, if he has not been sincerely, with full commitment doing so, the Believer should firmly resolve to become a true and committed follower of God, and practically demonstrate it in his life. The second step that we saw in the last article was for the Believer to get involved in looking after the Temple of the Holy Spirit, i.e., becoming concerned about the spiritual well-being of his heart, to regulate what goes in and comes out of the Believer’s heart, and to allow the Holy Spirit to take charge of him. Today we will look at the third step in this process.

3. 2 Chronicles 29:4-19 – Cleanse and Restore the things of God to their proper place in our hearts –  We see in these verses that having opened the House of God, and repaired its doors, the next thing that Hezekiah does are some important things, done in a particular order:

• Verse 4 - Collects and brings in the priests and Levites, and gathers them together.

• Verse 5 - Asks them to first sanctify themselves, and then to sanctify the house of God, cleanse it, and carry out the rubbish from inside. Take note, Hezekiah did not ask the non-Levites and those who were not priests to clean and make ready the house of God. Looking after and maintaining the things of the Temple was the job of the priests and the Levites, and only they were to do it (verse 11). Also note that the word ‘sanctify’ means to cleanse and set apart for a holy purpose.

• Verses 6-9 - Hezekiah confesses the sins of his people; he acknowledges that God’s dealings with them were righteous and God’s wrath upon them is deserved.

• Verses 10-11 - Hezekiah speaks of the remedy, the way to come out of being under God’s wrath.

• Verse 18-19 - After giving the names of the Levites, mentioning the work of the priests to cleanse the Temple, finally in verses 18-19, the Levites and the priests reported to Hezekiah that the Temple had been cleansed and all its furnishings had been sanctified and restored to their respective places.

    It is after all of this has been done, that finally worship in the Temple is restored, from verse 20 onwards; which we will see about in the coming articles.

    But what are the lessons for us today, especially in context of becoming a God pleasing worshipper, and offering worship that God wants;  we will see in the next article. 

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि यद्यपि जैसी परमेश्वर चाहता है - आत्मा और सच्चाई से, मसीही विश्वासी द्वारा वैसी आराधना करना एक बहुत धन्य तथा फलदायी गतिविधि है, फिर भी, कलीसियाओं या मण्डलियों में इस महत्वपूर्ण विषय के बारे में शायद ही कभी कोई शिक्षा दी जाती है। इसलिए इसमें कोई अचंभे की बात नहीं है कि लोग विभिन्न मन-गढ़ंत तरीकों से परमेश्वर की ‘आराधना’ करते हैं, इस भ्रम के साथ कि उचित कर रहे हैं, लेकिन उन्हें उनकी आराधना से वह लाभ नहीं मिलने पाता है, जैसा मिलना चाहिए। जैसा कि हमारे जीवनों की अन्य बातों के साथ है, इसके बारे में भी परमेश्वर ने हमें असहाय और स्वयं की युक्तियों के अनुसार करने के लिए नहीं छोड़ रखा है। उसने अपने वचन बाइबल में सच्ची आराधना के कई उदाहरण दिए हैं, उसके प्रति समर्पित एवं प्रतिबद्ध लोगों के जीवनों और व्यवहार के द्वारा। हमने सीखना आरंभ किया है कि परमेश्वर किस प्रकार से अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासी को अपना वैसा आराधक होने के लिए परिवर्तित करता है, जैसा उसे होना चाहिए। इस परिवर्तन की प्रक्रिया के अध्ययन के लिए हमने 2 इतिहास 29 अध्याय में राजा हिजकिय्याह के जीवन को लिया है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि यह प्रक्रिया चार क़दमों से होकर पूरी होती है; और इनमें से पहला कदम है विश्वासी का परमेश्वर के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित एवं प्रतिबद्ध हो जाना। हमने यह भी देखा था कि उद्धार के समय लोग प्रभु यीशु के अनुयायी बनने का निर्णय तो लेते हैं, किन्तु इस निर्णय का उस गंभीरता के साथ पालन करना, जैसा वास्तव में करना चाहिए, एक भिन्न बात है। आज हम इस प्रक्रिया के दूसरे कदम के बारे में देखेंगे।

2. 2 इतिहास 29:3 - अपने हृदय को, जो पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर है, उस के लिए खोल दें - हिजकिय्याह ने 2 इतिहास 29:2 में, पूरे समर्पण और प्रतिबद्धता के साथ परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता में चलने का निर्णय लिया, फिर उसके बाद जो अगला कदम उठाया वह था परमेश्वर के घर के द्वार को खोलना और उसकी मरम्मत करवाना। हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि हिजकिय्याह ने राज्य को अपने पिता आहाज से पाया था, जो मूर्तिपूजा और अन्य-जातियों के समान उपासना में लीन था, और आहाज ने यहूदा को भी इसी में डाल दिया था। इसलिए इसमें अचरज की कोई बात नहीं है कि मंदिर का द्वार बन्द पड़ा था, खराब भी हो गया था, और उसे खोलने के बाद उसकी मरम्मत की आवश्यकता भी थी। हिजकिय्याह ने न केवल द्वार को खुलवाया, बल्कि उसकी मरम्मत भी करवाई, अर्थात वह मंदिर के रख-रखाव में संलग्न भी हो गया।

प्रभु परमेश्वर का वास्तव में समर्पित अनुयायी, परमेश्वर के घर तथा अन्य विश्वासियों से अलग होकर नहीं रह सकता है। हम इस बात को प्रभु यीशु  के जीवन में तथा उनके शिष्यों के जीवन में नियमित घटित होता हुआ देखते हैं। प्रभु नियमित रीति से मंदिर या आराधनालय जाया करता था, और वहाँ प्रचार भी किया करता था, यद्यपि धार्मिक अगुवे वहाँ उसे परेशान करते रहते थे। लेकिन यह प्रभु को परमेश्वर के घर से अलग नहीं रख सका; हमारा प्रभु हर प्रकार का विरोध और परेशानी सहने को तैयार था, किन्तु परमेश्वर के घर जाने से रुकने को तैयार नहीं था। इसी प्रकार से, हम प्रेरितों के काम में देखते हैं कि यद्यपि धार्मिक अगुवे प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों का विरोध करते थे, उन्हें सताते थे, लेकिन वे फिर भी नियमित मंदिर अथवा आराधनालय में जाया करते थे। पौलुस, अपनी सुसमाचार प्रचार की सेवकाई की यात्राओं में हमेशा पहले स्थानीय यहूदी आराधनालय में जाया करता था और वहीं से उद्धार के सुसमाचार के प्रचार को आरंभ करता था। केवल जब स्थानीय यहूदी उसे प्रचार करने से रोकते थे, तब ही वह प्रचार करने के लिए किसी अन्य स्थान को खोजता था। इस की तुलना में, वर्तमान में, अधिकांश लोगों को कलीसिया या मण्डली में जाने से पीछे हटने में कोई समस्या नहीं होती है। वे अन्य लोगों के साथ किसी भी मतभेद, या स्थानीय पास्टर अथवा अगुवों के साथ कोई अनबन होने या असहमति होने पर, या अन्य किसी भी मामूली सी बात को लेकर कलीसिया से अलग होकर रहने में वे कोई परेशानी अनुभव नहीं करते हैं। किसी भी कीमत पर परमेश्वर के घर के प्रति प्रेम और लगाव रखना, तथा परमेश्वर की अन्य संतानों के साथ संगति रखने की हमारी लालसा, परमेश्वर के प्रति हमारे प्रेम और समर्पण का उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में होकर चलने के निर्णय का निर्वाह करने की हमारी प्रतिबद्धता का एक सूचक है।

यदि इस पद को आलंकारिक रूप में लिया जाए, तो इसके साथ संबंधित एक आत्मिक पक्ष भी है। बाइबल, विशेषकर नया नियम, हमें सिखाते हैं कि नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी की देह परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर है (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16-17; 6:19)। हमारे आस-पास के संसार के साथ हमारे संपर्क और पारस्परिक व्यवहार के तरीके, अर्थात, हम जो देखते, सुनते, अनुभव करते हैं, जिनके बारे में विचार करते हैं, आदि बातें, वे द्वार हैं जिनमें होकर विभिन्न बातें, वे चाहे परमेश्वर से संबंधित हों अथवा शैतान से, हमारे अंदर - पवित्र आत्मा के मंदिर में प्रवेश करती हैं। हमारे उद्धार से पहले, यह ‘मंदिर’ बन्द पड़ा था, परमेश्वर का पवित्र आत्मा अन्दर विद्यमान नहीं था; उसके द्वार यानि कि अन्दर आने को नियंत्रित करने वाले निष्क्रिय थे, संसार की कोई भी और कैसी भी बात हमारे अन्दर प्रवेश कर सकती थी, हमें प्रभावित कर सकती थी, और हमें किसी भी दिशा में ले जा सकती थी; हमारी देह में परमेश्वर के लिए कोई पवित्रता नहीं थी। उद्धार पाए हुए पापी को, जिसने यह दृढ़ निश्चय किया है कि वह परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध रहेगा, उसे अपने हृदय, अर्थात, पवित्र आत्मा के मंदिर के द्वार को परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के लिए खोल देना है, और उनकी मरम्मत भी करनी है। समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध विश्वासी को अपने हृदय को संसार की उस मलिनता से साफ़ करना है जो उसके अन्दर जमा हो रखी है, और फिर उस स्वच्छता को बनाए भी रखना है, हमारे हृदय के द्वार से क्या आता-जाता है, उस पर कड़ी नज़र और नियंत्रण बनाए रखने के द्वारा। केवल तब ही उसे आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन जीने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा से निर्देश प्राप्त हो सकते हैं। जब हम आत्मा के अनुसार जीवन जीना आरंभ कर देंगे, तो हमारे जीवनों में आत्मा के फल भी दिखने लग जाएँगे (गलातियों 5:16, 22-25), हमारे अन्दर परमेश्वर के प्रति, उसने जो किया है, उसके लिए श्रद्धा और कृतज्ञता विकसित होने लगेगी, और यह हमें आत्मा और सच्चाई से परमेश्वर की सच्ची आराधना करने की ओर ले जाएगा।

तो, सच्चा आराधक बनने के लिए दूसरा कदम है कि न केवल अपने हृदय के द्वार को परमेश्वर और उसके वचन को ग्रहण करने के लिए खोलना, परन्तु हृदय के द्वार की मरम्मत भी करना, जिससे हमारे अन्दर प्रवेश करने वाली बातों पर भी नज़र रखी जा सके, उन्हें नियंत्रण में रखा जा सके। हमें किसी भी सांसारिक या शैतानी बात को अपने अन्दर आने से रोक के रखना है, जिससे उसके कारण हम संसार के साथ किसी प्रकार के समझौते में पड़कर अपने अन्दर निवास करने वाले परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को शोकित न करें (इफिसियों 4:30)। अगले लेख में हम परमेश्वर के मंदिर को स्वच्छ करने के बारे देखेंगे।

Being Transformed To Worship (2)

We had seen in the last article that although worshipping God the way He wants it done - in spirit and in truth, is such a blessed, and fruitful activity in the life of a Born-Again Christian Believer, yet there is hardly any teaching given on this important subject in the Churches or Assemblies. Therefore, it is no surprise that people ‘worship’ God in various contrived ways, thinking it to be appropriate, but they do not gain from their worship as they should have gained. As with all other things for our lives, God has not left us helpless and to our devices about this also. In His Word, the Bible, God has given to us many examples of true worship through the lives and behavior of those who lived a life committed to Him. We have started to learn how God transforms His truly committed Believer into becoming a worshipper that He wants him to be. We have taken the example of King Hezekiah, as given in 2 Chronicles 29, for our study of this transformation. In the last article we have seen that this transformation takes place through four steps; and the first step is the Believer deciding to become a true and committed follower of God. We had also seen that at salvation people decide to bcome followers of the Lord Jesus, but actually implementing it with the seriousness and commitment it ought to be done, is much different from taking that initial decision. Today we will consider the second step in this process.

2. 2 Chronicles 29:3 – Open your hearts, the Temple of the Holy Spirit, for Him - After making a personal commitment and firmly resolving to follow and obey God in 2 Chronicles 29:2, we see that the next step Hezekiah took was that he opened the doors of the house of Lord and got them repaired. We had seen in the last article that Hezekiah had inherited the kingdom from his father Ahaz, who was given to idolatry and paganism, and had led Judah into the same as well. So, no wonder that the doors of the Temple had been closed, had fallen into a state of disrepair, and on opening them, they had to be repaired. Hezekiah not only had the doors opened, but got them repaired too; i.e., got involved in the upkeep of the House of God.

 

A truly committed follower of the Lord God, cannot stay away from the house of God and other Believers. We see this exemplified in the life of the Lord Jesus, and also His disciples. The Lord regularly went to the Temple and Synagogues, and even preached in the Synagogues, even though the religious leaders kept troubling Him when He went there. But this did not keep Him away from the House of God; our Lord was willing to face opposition, but was not ready to stop going to the House of God. Similarly, in the Book of Acts we see that although the religious leaders opposed and persecuted the Lord’s disciples, but they regularly went to the Temple and synagogues. Paul, in his missionary journeys, made it a point to go the local synagogue and start preaching the gospel from there. Only if the local Jews prevented him, did he try to find some other place to preach from. In contrast, today, most people feel no problem in staying away from attending Church for some inter-personal relationship problem with someone in the congregation, some disagreement with the Pastor or Church Elders, or because of any other trivial reasons. Our love for the House of God, our involvement in its state, and our desire of fellowshipping with the other children of God, is an indicator of our love for God and commitment to follow Him, no matter what the cost.

 

Taking the verse metaphorically, there is another spiritual aspect to it also. The Bible, especially the New Testament teaches that the body of a Born-Again Christian Believer is the Temple of the Holy Spirit of God (1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 6:19). Our means of interacting with the world around us, i.e., what we see, hear, feel, think about, etc., are the portals through which various things, godly or satanic, gain entry into our body - the Temple of the Holy Spirit. Before our salvation, this ‘temple’ was closed, God’s Holy Spirit was not present; its doors, or portals of entry were non-functional, anything and everything of the world could move in or out of us, and lead us in any direction; there was no holiness for God in our body. The redeemed sinner, having made a firm resolve, a commitment to live in obedience to God and His Word, has to open the doors of his heart, i.e., the Temple of the Holy Spirit, for God and His Word, and repair them too. The committed Believer is to cleanse his heart from the filth of the world that had accumulated within, and also to keep the heart clean, by carefully regulating what passes in through the ‘doors’ or portals of our heart. Only then can he receive the instructions of the Holy Spirit to obey and live by. When we start living by the Spirit, the fruits of the Holy Spirit also start appearing in our lives (Galatians 5:16, 22-25) we develop a reverence and gratitude for God for what He has done, and leads us to truly worshipping God, in spirit and in truth.

 

So, the second step to becoming a worshipper is to not only open the doors of the heart to receive Him and His instructions, but to also repair the doors, so that what enters into us can be regulated, and we do not allow any satanic or worldly things within us, that can make us compromise with the world and grieve the Holy Spirit of God within us (Ephesians 4:30). In the next article we will see the third step, the cleansing of the Temple of God.

I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

आराधना के लिए परिवर्तित (1) 

हमने आराधना के बारे में अभी तक परमेश्वर के वचन से जो कुछ देखा है, देखा है कि मसीही विश्वासी के लिए आत्मा और सच्चाई से परमेश्वर की वास्तविक आराधना करना कितना महत्वपूर्ण है, देखा है कि वह सब करते रहना जिसे सामान्यतः ‘आराधना’ कह तो दिया जाता है, लेकिन वह आराधना होती नहीं है, और यह जानते हुए कि अधिकांश कलीसियाओं और मण्डलियों में आराधना करने और आराधक बनने के विषय सार्थक शिक्षाएँ बहुत ही कम दी जाती हैं, सच्ची आराधना करना और वास्तविक आराधक बनना बहुत से लोगों को एक बहुत कठिन कार्य प्रतीत हो सकता है। लोगों के मनों में यह अनिश्चितता हो सकती है कि क्या वे कभी वैसे आराधक बनने पाएँगे, जैसा परमेश्वर चाहता है कि वे हों? मसीही विश्वासियों के पास एक अनुपम विशेषाधिकार है, परमेश्वर को पिता कहकर संबोधित करने का। और हम यह भी जानते हैं कि एक प्रेमी पिता होने के नाते, वह न केवल हमारी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करता रहता है, बल्कि वह हमारी आने वाली आवश्यकताओं के प्रति भली-भांति अवगत भी रहता है, उन आवश्यकताओं के आने और हमारे उन्हें जानने से भी पहले। इसलिए, उसके बच्चों में, आराधना से संबंधित इस अनिश्चितता के बारे में भी परमेश्वर भली-भांति जानता है। उसे पता है कि उसकी संतान को उनके विश्वास के जीवन में, उसके साथ चलने में, उससे संगति रखने के लिए, इस महत्वपूर्ण बात को सीखने की आवश्यकता होगी। इसीलिए, अपने वचन, बाइबल में परमेश्वर ने कई उदाहरणों से आराधना करने और आराधक बनने के बारे में बताया है। हम उनमें से एक उदाहरण, 2 इतिहास 29 अध्याय से, राजा हिजकिय्याह के जीवन से देखेंगे कि सामान्य से वैसे सच्चे आराधक में, जैसा परमेश्वर चाहता है, व्यक्ति कैसे परिवर्तित होता है।

राजा हिजकिय्याह यहूदा का एक भक्त राजा था, लेकिन उसका पिता, राजा आहाज, परमेश्वर से विमुख होकर चलने वाला राजा था, जो इस्राएल के राजाओं के समान चलता था (2 इतिहास 28:2)। आहाज के कारण, यहूदा बहुत गंभीर आत्मिक गिरावट में आ गया, परमेश्वर के प्रति अविश्वासयोग्य हो गया (2 इतिहास 28:19), और जब आहाज की मृत्यु हुई तो उसके इस व्यवहार के कारण उसे राजाओं के स्थान पर भी नहीं दफनाया गया (2 इतिहास 28:27)। हिजकिय्याह का जन्म और पालन-पोषण ऐसे ही आत्मिक गिरावट और खोखलेपन के समय में हुआ था, और उसने जब राज्य की बागडोर संभाली, तब राज्य ऐसे आत्मिक और नैतिक पतन में था, परमेश्वर के प्रति अविश्वासयोग्य हो रखा था।

लेकिन राजा हिजकिय्याह में होकर, परमेश्वर अपने लोगों में एक बहुत बड़ा परिवर्तन लेकर आया और उन्हें वापस अपनी सच्ची आराधना करने वाले लोग बना दिया। परमेश्वर के लोगों का इस प्रकार से आराधक बनने में परिवर्तित होना, चार क़दमों से होकर होता है, जो इस प्रकार से हैं:

1. 2 इतिहास 29:2 - परमेश्वर के एक सच्चे और प्रतिबद्ध अनुयायी बनना -  

यद्यपि हिजकिय्याह मूर्तिपूजा, अन्य देवी देवताओं की उपासना और परमेश्वर के प्रति अभक्ति के माहौल से आया था, लेकिन उसने सच्चाई और दृढ़ निश्चय के साथ परमेश्वर का अनुसरण किया। उसने अपनी इस प्रतिबद्धता को अपने कामों और व्यवहार से प्रत्यक्ष दिखाया, जैसे के उसके पूर्वज दाऊद ने भी किया था। यह वह पहला कदम है; पाप, शैतानी बातों और प्रभावों का जीवन, संसार के साथ समझौता कर के रहना, आदि बातों के अन्धकार से बाहर निकलकर परमेश्वर भक्ति की ज्योति में आना और परमेश्वर का एक ईमानदार, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध अनुयायी बन जाना। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को सबसे पहले इसी बात का निर्णय लेना होता है कि वह परमेश्वर और उसके वचन ही की आज्ञाकारिता में चलेगा। बिना यह निर्णय लिए और उसका पालन किए, परिवर्तन आरंभ नहीं हो सकता है। पौलुस ने 1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-3 में कुरिन्थुस के उन मसीही विश्वासियों को सांसारिक, अपरिपक्व, और बच्चों के समान कहा जिन्हें ‘ठोस भोज’ नहीं दिया जा सकता है। यद्यपि वे नया-जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी थे, लेकिन उन्होंने अपने आत्मिक जीवन में कोई उन्नति नहीं की थी; क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर तथा उसके वचन के नहीं, मनुष्यों के अनुयायी बने हुए थे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:4-7)। पौलुस ने उन्हें इस बात के लिए भी चिताया कि यदि उनका व्यवहार और कार्य, अर्थात, उनके मसीही विश्वास के प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण, मसीह यीशु की दृढ़ नींव पर स्थापित नहीं होंगे, यदि वे जाँचने के परमेश्वर के मानकों के अनुसार सही नहीं पाए जाएँगे, तो वे छूछे हाथ ही अनन्त काल में प्रवेश करेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:10-15)। उनका उद्धार तो कभी नहीं जाएगा, वे स्वर्ग में तो प्रवेश करेंगे, लेकिन उनके पास अनन्त काल का आनन्द लेने के लिए कोई प्रतिफल नहीं होंगे, और हमेशा खाली हाथ ही रहेंगे।

इसलिए, नया-जन्म पा लेना, मसीही विश्वासी बन जाना, स्वतः ही आत्मिक परिपक्वता और प्रतिफल नहीं ले आता है। प्रत्येक व्यक्ति को अपने आप को प्रभु का अनुसरण करने के लिए समर्पित करके उसके प्रति प्रतिबद्ध होना पड़ता है, प्रभु तथा उसके वचन के प्रति आज्ञाकारी होना पड़ता है। केवल तब ही व्यक्ति आत्मिक रीति से उन्नति कर सकता है, इस जीवन में परिपक्व हो सकता है, तथा आने वाले जीवन के लिए प्रतिफल अर्जित कर सकता है। हम इस बात को पौलुस के जीवन में देखते हैं, जिसने अपने भूतपूर्व जीवन के बावजूद, मसीह में आगे ही बढ़ते रहने का दृढ़ निर्णय लिया और उसे निभाया (फिलिप्पियों 3:7-13); और अन्त में, जब उसे पता पड़ा कि पृथ्वी पर उसका समय पूरा हो गया है, वह आनन्द के साथ कह सका कि परमेश्वर ने उसे जो कहा था, उसने वह सब किया है, और अब उसके लिए धार्मिकता का मुकुट रखा हुआ है (2 तिमुथियुस 4:6-8)।

परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला, उसे स्वीकार्य आराधना करने वाला आराधक बनने के लिए पहला कदम होता है, मनुष्यों और उनकी शिक्षाओं का नहीं, वरन, परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में प्रतिबद्ध होकर चलना। यदि यह केवल एक निर्णय है, जिसे निभाया नहीं जाता है; जिसका जीवन में कोई व्यावहारिक निर्वाह नहीं है, तो यह व्यर्थ है, एक खोखला आश्वासन है, और इससे कोई परिवर्तन नहीं आएगा। अगले लेख में हम दूसरे कदम के बारे में देखेंगे।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Being Transformed To Worship (1)

After all that we have seen about worship from God’s Word, having seen how important actually worshipping God in spirit and truth is for a Christian Believer’s life, instead of doing things that are usually seen and accepted as worship, but in reality, are not, and being well aware that in most Churches and Assemblies, hardly any worthwhile teaching is given about worshipping God and becoming a worshipper; doing it may seem quite daunting to many people. There might be an uncertainty in people’s hearts, whether or not they will be able to become the kind of worshippers that God wants them to be; will they ever be able to do it? The Christian Believers have a unique privilege of addressing God as our Father; and we also know that as a loving Father He not only meets all our needs, but even knows our coming needs, even before we know about them. Therefore, this uncertainty in hearts of people regarding worship is not unknown to God; He is well aware that His children, in their life of faith, in their walk with Him, will need to learn this important aspect of fellowshipping with Him. Therefore, in His Word, the Bible, God has already given the way of becoming a worshipper, through various examples. We will use one example, that of King Hezekiah, from 2 Chronicles 29, to learn about being transformed into a worshipper, as God wants to be.

King Hezekiah was a godly King of Judah, but his father, King Ahaz, was an ungodly king, and it is written about Ahaz that he walked in the ways of the ungodly kings of Israel (2 Chronicles 28:2), because of him Judah was brought low, suffered a moral decline and became unfaithful to God (2 Chronicles 28:19), and eventually when he died, he was not buried in the tombs of the kings of Israel  (2 Chronicles 28:27). Hezekiah had been born and brought up in such a condition of moral and spiritual depravity and bankruptcy, and took over the reins of the kingdom when it was in such a state of spiritual decline and unfaithfulness to God.

 

But through Hezekiah, God brought about a transformation in His people, and brought them back into truly worshipping Him. The process of God’s people getting transformed into worshippers is through four steps, as follows:

 1. 2 Chronicles 29:2 – Become a committed and true follower of God -        Hezekiah, though coming from the darkness of paganism and ungodliness, sincerely followed God. Demonstrating his commitment through his works, just as his ancestor David did. This represents the first step of stepping out from the darkness of sin, from living a life under satanic influences and worldliness, into the light of godliness, and becoming a sincere committed follower of God. Every person has to first and foremost take a decision and make a commitment of following God and His Word. Without this resolve, and implementation of this resolve in his life, the transformation cannot begin. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 3:1-3 calls the Corinthian Believers as carnal, immature, children who are unable to take in the ‘solid food’. Although they were Born-Again Believers, but they had not grown in their spiritual lives, since they were following men, giving the primary place and honor to men in their lives, and not to God and His Word (1 Corinthians 3:4-7). Paul also warned them that if their life and works, i.e., the practical evidences of their faith, are not built on the firm foundation of Jesus Christ, if they do not stand up to God’s standards of evaluation, then they will enter eternity empty handed (1 Corinthians 3:10-15). Their salvation will not be lost, they will still enter heaven, but will remain without any rewards to enjoy throughout eternity.

So, being Born-Again, becoming a Christian Believer, does not by itself bring spiritual maturity and rewards to a person. Every person has to commit himself to following the Lord, being obedient to Him and His Word. Only then can the person grow and mature spiritually, in this life, and have eternal rewards for the next life. We see this in the life of Paul, who despite his past, committed himself to pressing on ahead (Philippians 3:7-13); and then finally, when he knew that his time on earth is over, he could joyfully say that he has done what God had asked him to do, and now a crown of righteousness awaits him (2 Timothy 4:6-8).

 

The first step in becoming a worshipper pleasing and acceptable to God is to make a commitment to follow God and His Word, not men and their teachings; and to also live by it. Without a practical application in life, empty promises and vain resolves, will not bring any transformation. We will look at the second step for this transformation in the next article.

एक चुनौती -  आराधना द्वारा परिवर्तित 

आराधना के बारे में हमारे इस अध्ययन में हमने आराधना और प्रार्थना में अन्तर को देखा तथा समझा है; हमने देखा है कि आराधना क्या है और क्या नहीं है; परमेश्वर की आराधना करने के विभिन्न तरीकों को देखा है; हमने देखा कि क्यों परमेश्वर चाहता है कि हम उसकी आराधना करें, और केवल प्रार्थना ही करने वाले नहीं, वरन प्रार्थना से अधिक उसे आराधना देने वाले भी हों। हमने आराधना के आत्मिक और भौतिक फायदों को भी देखा; और यह भी देखा कि परमेश्वर जैसे आत्मा और सच्चाई में हमसे आराधना चाहता है, वैसी आराधना उसे अर्पित करने में क्या बातें हैं जो बाधा डालती हैं। अब जब हम आराधना पर इस बाइबल अध्ययन की श्रृंखला के अन्त की ओर आ रहे हैं, हम देखेंगे कि आराधना किस प्रकार से उनके जीवनों को बदल देती है, जो उसे गंभीरता से लेते हैं; और फिर अन्त में देखेंगे कि परमेश्वर किस प्रकार से व्यक्ति को आराधना करने वाले में परिवर्तित करता है। आज हम अपने वर्तमान समय से एक उदाहरण द्वारा देखेंगे कि आराधना ने किस प्रकार से आराधक के जीवन को परिवर्तित कर दिया।

यह उदाहरण क्रिस्टी बौवर की पुस्तक “बेस्ट फ्रेंड्स विद गॉड” (Best Friends With God) से लिया गया है, और आराधना की सामर्थ्य को चित्रित करने का बहुत उत्तम उदाहरण है। इसके साथ ही, स्वीकार करने के लिए, एक चुनौती भी दी गई है; पढ़ कर देखिए कि क्या आप उस चुनौती को स्वीकार करेंगे?

“मैंने जब परमेश्वर के साथ चलना आरंभ किया, मैं उसके साथ अपने संबंध में बढ़ने भी लगी, लेकिन फिर भी मेरे लम्बे समय से चल आ रहे विषाद (depression) के साथ मेरा संघर्ष वैसे ही ज़ारी रहा। एक बुद्धिमान मसीही महिला ने मुझे प्रोत्साहित किया कि मैं एक “धन्यवादी डायरी” लिखना आरंभ करूं। उसने मुझे प्रोत्साहित किया कि मैं उसे अपने बिस्तर के पास रखूँ, और रात को सोते समय बत्ती बुझाने से पहले, उसमें उस दिन की तीन वह बातें लिखूँ जिनके लिए मैं धन्यवादी हूँ। उस महिला का कहना था कि सोने से ठीक पहले सकारात्मक बातों पर ध्यान करने के द्वारा मैं अच्छे से सो सकूंगी। उसने मुझे चुनौती दी कि मैं यह लगातार 90 दिन तक करूं, उसका कहना था कि इसके द्वारा जीवन के प्रति मेरा दृष्टिकोण सकारात्मक बन जाएगा।

मैंने चुनौती को स्वीकार कर लिया। आरंभ में तो मैं प्रकट और सामान्य बातें ही लिखने पाई, जैसे कि परिवार और मित्र जनों के लिए धन्यवादी होना, आदि। फिर मेरा ध्यान दिन भर की अन्य बातों की ओर भी जाने लगा, और मैं देखने पाई कि ऐसी बहुत सी बातें थीं जिनके लिए मैं परमेश्वर की धन्यवादी हो सकती थी, जैसे किसी के द्वारा मुझे मिली सराहना या प्रोत्साहन, जिससे मेरी आत्मा प्रोत्साहित या उत्साहित हो सकी, या आँधी-तूफ़ान, जो मुझे परमेश्वर की असीम सामर्थ्य को स्मरण कराता था, आदि। ऐसा करते रहने से मैं उन छोटी-छोटी बातों की ओर और अधिक ध्यान देने और निरीक्षण करने वाली होने लग गई, जिनके द्वारा परमेश्वर हमारे प्रति अपने प्रेम को व्यक्त करता रहता है।

मैंने अपनी यह डायरी केवल तीन महीने ही लिखी, लेकिन इसने मेरे दृष्टिकोण को हमेशा के लिए परिवर्तित कर दिया। मैं अनेकों बातों और विधियों द्वारा मेरे प्रति परमेश्वर के प्रेम और देखभाल की अभिव्यक्तियों को पहचानने लगी, उनकी खोजी बन गई। छोटी-छोटी बातों का ध्यान करने के कारण, मेरी आँखें उन बड़ी बातों के लिए भी खुल गईं, जो परमेश्वर मेरे जीवन में कर रहा था। मैं उसकी कृतज्ञ और धन्यवादी रहने लग गई, और मुझे अचंभा होने लगा कि उसने मेरे दृष्टिकोण को किस प्रकार से पूर्णतः परिवर्तित कर दिया, मेरे विषाद को ठीक कर दिया। अब मैं एक क्रोधित, हताश, और घायल पशु के समान प्रतिक्रिया देने वाली नहीं, बल्कि शान्त रहकर बातों को स्वीकार करने और उत्सुकता के साथ उन में से होकर आने वाली भलाई की प्रतीक्षा करने वाली बन गई। या, यदि इसे दूसरे शब्दों में कहूँ, पहले मैं परमेश्वर के प्रेम की एक बूँद भी पाने को तरसती थी, अब मैं उसके प्रेम के सागर में गोते लगाने लगी। और अन्ततः मैं एक डूबते हुए व्यक्ति के समान हाथ-पैर मारने की बजाए, परमेश्वर के प्रेम में पूरे भरोसे के साथ तैरने लग गई।”

अब, आप के लिए भी यही चुनौती है; क्या आप भी अपनी “धन्यवादी डायरी” लिखनी आरंभ करेंगे, तीन महीनों के लिए; और फिर उसे और उसके परिणामों को औरों के साथ बाँटेंगे, और यदि हो सके तो हमारे साथ भी, कि इससे आपको कैसे सहायता मिली है? क्या आप सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, जो हमारा प्रेमी और अत्यधिक स्नेह करने वाला स्वर्गीय पिता भी है, उस पर भरोसा रखते हुए, विश्वास का यह कदम उठाएंगे? हमेशा याद रखें, वह जो भी करता है, या हमारे जीवनों में होने देता है, वह हमारे लाभ ही के लिए होता है, जिससे हम उन्नति करें और परिपक्व बनें; साथ ही, अकसर उसकी आशीषें समस्याओं और परेशानियों के भेस में आती हैं, जैसे हम राजा यहोशापात के जीवन से देख चुके हैं।

अगले लेख से हम राजा हिजकिय्याह के जीवन से उस चार कदम की प्रक्रिया को देखेंगे जिसके द्वारा परमेश्वर व्यक्ति को अपना आराधक और आशीषित जन बनाता है।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

A Challenge - Transformed Through Worship

In our study about worship, we have seen and understood the difference between worship and prayer; what worship is and what it is not; various ways through which we can worship God; why God wants that we worship Him and be more of worshippers than pray-ers. We have seen the spiritual and material gains from worship; and what things obstruct us from truly worshipping God the way He wants us to worship Him - in spirit and in truth. As we come towards the end of this Bible study series on Understanding Worship, we will see how worship transforms those who take it up seriously; and finally, how God transforms a person to become a worshipper. Today we will look at a contemporary example of how worshipping changed the life of the worshipper.

The example is an excerpt from Christy Bower’s book “Best Friends With God”, and it provides a perfect follow-up to illustrate the power of worship. There is a challenge to be taken; read on and see if you are up to taking that challenge:

“As I walked with God, I began to grow in my relationship with Him, but I continued to battle chronic depression. A wise Christian woman urged me to begin keeping a Gratitude Journal. She encouraged me to keep a notebook by my bed and to record three things for which I was thankful before turning out the lights. She said that by dwelling on positive things before bedtime, I would sleep better. She challenged me to do this for 90 days, suggesting that it would give me a more positive outlook on life.

I took the challenge. At first, I recorded obvious and generic things such as being thankful for friends and family. Then I began to pay closer attention to things throughout the day, and I discovered many things for which I could be thankful: a compliment from someone that lifted my spirits or a thunderstorm that reminded me of God’s awesome power. The exercise forced me to become observant. It increased my awareness of the small ways in which God expresses His love towards us every day.

I maintained the journal for only 3 months, but it changed my outlook for ever. I began to look for and find God’s overtures of love toward me in a multitude of ways. Taking notice of small things opened my eyes to bigger things God was doing in my life. I began to feel grateful that He had healed me from chronic depression, and I marveled at how He had changed my attitude toward Him from one of desperate defiance, like a hurt animal, to one of quiet acceptance and eager anticipation. Or, to put it a different way, I went from being desperate for a drop of God’s love to swimming in the ocean of God’s love. Finally, I was floating with total confidence in God’s love rather than fighting it like a drowning person.”

The challenge for you is: Will you start and maintain your Gratitude Journal for 3 months and then share with others, and if you can, with us as well, how it has helped you? Will you take this step of faith in the Almighty God, who is also our loving, doting, heavenly Father? Do remember that whatever He does, or allows in our lives, is only so that we may be benefitted, grow and mature; and His blessings often come disguised as problems and adversities, as we have seen from the life of King Jehoshaphat.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord Jesus, then to ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards, take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
