परमेश्वर की आराधना के तरीके (3) – गुणानुवाद

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर से संपर्क और वार्तालाप के दो तरीके हैं, प्रार्थना में उससे कुछ माँगना और आराधना द्वारा उसे कुछ अर्पित करना। प्रार्थना में हम परमेश्वर से अपने या किसी अन्य के लिये कुछ माँगते हैं, और फिर उससे प्राप्त करने की आशा करते हैं; और आराधना में हम परमेश्वर को अर्पित करते हैं, किसी भौतिक वस्तु को, अथवा विभिन्न मौखिक अभिव्यक्तियाँ, धन्यवाद, स्तुति, और गुणानुवाद को। पिछले लेख में हमने इन में से आराधना अर्पित करने की पहली दो अभिव्यक्तियों, अर्थात धन्यवाद करना और स्तुति करना के बारे में देखा है। परमेश्वर का धन्यवाद करना, उसे कुछ देने का सबसे साधारण स्वरूप है। किन्तु यह हमेशा ही आराधना की सच्ची और खरी अभिव्यक्ति होने की बजाए, मात्र औपचारिकता या शिष्टाचार का पालन करना भी हो सकता है, और तब परमेश्वर को आराधना चढ़ाने में उसकी कोई भूमिका नहीं रह जाती है। परमेश्वर की स्तुति करना, आराधना की धन्यवादी होने से बढ़कर, अभिव्यक्ति है; और यह परमेश्वर ने उस व्यक्ति के लिए जो किया है, या उस व्यक्ति ने अपनी प्रार्थनाओं के उतर में परमेश्वर से जो प्राप्त किया है, उस के विषय में या उससे संबंधित होता है। इसलिए, यद्यपि स्तुति परमेश्वर को महिमा और आदर देना है, लेकिन फिर भी उसका दायरा व्यक्ति द्वारा जो उसे परमेश्वर से मिला है, उसी तक सीमित रहता है। आज हम आराधना की अभिव्यक्ति में परमेश्वर के गुणों का वर्णन करने या उसका गुणानुवाद, उसकी महिमा, उसका गुणगान करने के बारे में देखेंगे, और फिर एक उदाहरण के द्वारा प्रार्थना, धन्यवाद, स्तुति, और गुणगान या गुणानुवाद करने को परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क और वार्तालाप के लिए प्रयोग करने के बारे में समझेंगे।
3. गुणानुवाद या गुणगान: यह संभवतः आराधना चढ़ाने का सर्वोच्च तरीका है। गुणानुवाद या गुणगान करने का अर्थ है परमेश्वर के गुणों और बातों के बारे में वर्णन करना या उन्हें घोषित करना, उनके आधार पर उसकी महिमा करना, जैसे कि:
- परमेश्वर कौन है।
- परमेश्वर की पवित्रता, सामर्थ्य, क्षमताएँ और योग्यताएँ क्या हैं।
- परमेश्वर के अटल, अपरिवर्तनीय गुण, चरित्र, और व्यवहार क्या हैं।
- परमेश्वर अपने बच्चों के जीवनों में, उनकी विभिन्न परिस्थितियों और समस्याओं में, कैसे काम करता आया है; और आज भी करता है।
- परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसके बच्चों के जीवन में किए गए कामों को साहसी होकर सार्वजनिक रीति से घोषित करना और, विश्वास में दृढ़ होकर, उन्हें अपने लिए दावे के साथ कहना।
- विश्वास और दृढ़ता के साथ निर्भीक होकर मानना और कहना कि परमेश्वर के लिए कुछ भी, किसी भी परिस्थिति में, कहीं पर भी, किसी के भी लिए असंभव नहीं है।
इत्यादि।
यह, परमेश्वर जो है, हर समय, हर स्थान पर, किसी भी बात के सन्दर्भ में, किसी के भी लिए, जो कर सकता है, उसका सार्वजनिक और व्यक्तिगत दोनों ही रीतियों से बखान करना है। गुणानुवाद या गुणगान परमेश्वर की क्षमताओं, योग्यताओं, गुणों, चरित्र, व्यवहार, और अन्य सभी बातों का, वह कल्पना से भी बढ़कर महान और विशाल समूह है, जिसकी कोई सीमा, कोई अन्त नहीं है। इस की तुलना में, स्तुति करना परमेश्वर द्वारा किए गए किसी कार्य के संदर्भ में, उसके बारे में किया गया वर्णन और धन्यवाद का एक छोटा सा और सीमित समूह है। स्तुति लोगों के सामने खड़े होकर आनन्द तथा धन्यवाद के साथ परमेश्वर ने जो किया है उसका वर्णन करना है, परमेश्वर में भरोसे को व्यक्त करना है। गुणानुवाद करना, खुले दिल से और खुल कर, आनन्द के साथ परमेश्वर के साथ अपने संबंध, उस के बारे में अपनी समझ और ज्ञान का बखान करना है, जो किसी भी व्यक्तिगत अनुभव से सीमित अथवा संबंधित नहीं है। यह पूरे भरोसे और आनन्द के साथ, उसकी संतान होने के अधिकार से, अपने स्वर्गीय पिता, जो कि अपने स्वर्गीय सिंहासन पर बैठा है, की गोदी में जाकर बैठ जाना है, और वहाँ से सभी के सामने अपने परमेश्वर पिता के गुणों का न केवल बखान करना है, वरन उन पर अपने दावे को भी घोषित करना है। गुणानुवाद या गुणगान करने का अर्थ है अपने स्वर्गीय पिता परमेश्वर को संसार के लोगों के सामने, अपने दृष्टिकोण से प्रदर्शित करना। क्योंकि परमेश्वर असीम है, इसलिए उसका गुणानुवाद, उसकी महिमा करना भी असीम है। आप इस से समझ सकते हैं कि क्यों गुणानुवाद करना आराधना का सर्वोच्च स्वरूप है; और जब शैतान ऐसे गुणगान की आराधना सुनता है तो उसका क्या हाल होता होगा, क्योंकि उसने अपने आप को परमेश्वर से भी बढ़कर करना चाहा था (यशायाह 14:12-14)।
परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क और वार्तालाप करने के इन चार स्वरूपों को, जिन्हें हमने अभी तक देखा है, एक उदाहरण के द्वारा चित्रित करते हैं, एक काल्पनिक पारिवारिक परिस्थिति के द्वारा: एक बच्चे को अपने लिए कुछ वस्तुएं चाहिएँ, और साथ ही उसे एक लड़का भी तंग करता है, उससे झगड़ा करता है, उसे धौंस देता है, जिससे उसे छुटकारा चाहिए। इसलिए, वह बच्चा अपने पिता के पास जाता है और उसे अपनी आवश्यकताओं और समस्या के बारे में बताता है; और फिर उसे अपने पिता से जो प्रतिक्रिया मिली, उसके बारे में बताता है।
आइए देखते हैं कि इस काल्पनिक परिस्थिति में परमेश्वर के साथ संपर्क और वार्तालाप के ये चारों स्वरूप किस प्रकार से कार्यान्वित होते है:
1. प्रार्थना: बच्चा: “पिताजी, मुझे कुछ वस्तुओं की आवश्यकता है; क्या आप कृपया इन्हें मुझे दिलवा सकते हैं? और, स्कूल का एक लड़का मुझे तंग कर रहा है, मुझ से झगड़ता है, मुझपर रौब मारता है, परेशान करता रहता है, क्या आप उसके बारे में भी कुछ कर सकते हैं?”
पिता: “ठीक है बेटा, मैं जो आवश्यक और उचित है, वह सभी कर दूँगा।” और पिता, पुत्र के लिए, उसकी आवश्यकताओं की पूर्ति कर देता है और अपने बच्चे को उस झगड़ालू और परेशान करने वाले लड़के से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए उपयुक्त इंतज़ाम भी कर देता है। पिता ने जो उसके लिए किया है, उसकी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनने और उनका उत्तर देने के लिये, उसके प्रति धन्यवादी और कृतज्ञ होकर, वह बच्चा इन में से कोई भी, या सभी प्रत्युत्तर दे सकता है:
2. धन्यवाद: जो पिता ने किया है उसके लिए बच्चा धन्यवादी होकर कहता है: “पिताजी, मेरी आवश्यकताओं को पूरा करने के लिए, तथा उस तंग करने वाले लड़के से मुझे सुरक्षित करने के लिए, आप का बहुत धन्यवाद। अब मैं प्रसन्न, सुरक्षित, संतुष्ट और आश्वस्त हूँ।”
3. स्तुति: बच्चा बाहर जाकर अपने मित्रों को इन सभी बातों के बारे में बताता है। मित्रों को उसके पिता द्वारा उसके लिए उपलब्ध करवाए गए अच्छी गुणवत्ता के सामान को दिखाता है, और बताता है कि किस प्रकार से उसके पिता ने उस तंग करने वाले लड़के की समस्या से छुटकारा दिलवाया है; तथा पिता ने उसे आश्वासन भी दिया है कि आगे भी वह सुरक्षित बना रहेगा, उसकी आवश्यकताएं भी पूरी होती रहेंगी, और पिता की देखभाल तथा छत्रछाया उस पर हमेशा बनी रहेगी।
4. गुणानुवाद: बच्चा पिता का हाथ पकड़ कर, बड़े गर्व के साथ, उसे अपने मित्रों से मिलवाने लेकर जाता है, गर्व के साथ मित्रों के सामने अपने पिता का बखान करता है, उन्हें बताता है कि कैसे वह कभी भी, अपनी हर बात और आवश्यकता के लिए अपने पिता के पास निःसंकोच जा सकता है, और उसका पिता कभी भी उसे अनदेखा नहीं करता है, हमेशा उसकी बात सुनने के लिए तैयार रहता है, और हर परिस्थिति में उसकी सहायता करता है, उसके साथ बना रहता है। वह बच्चा सब के सामने अपने पिता के गुणों, भलाइयों, महानता, चरित्र, व्यवहार, और सदा उपलब्ध बने रहने, आदि का, आनन्द और भरोसे के साथ बखान करता है।
अब इस बात पर मनन कीजिए, और स्वयं देखिए कि इन चारों में से बच्चे और पिता के मध्य संबंध, उनके परस्पर संपर्क और वार्तालाप को, कौन सी बात सबसे उत्तम रीति से व्यक्त करती है; और इन में से किस से पिता सबसे अधिक प्रसन्न और आनन्दित होगा? इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं होना चाहिए कि न केवल प्रार्थना करना, वरन, आराधना वाला भाग पिता को अधिक प्रसन्न करेगा; और आराधना में भी गुणानुवाद वाला भाग पिता को सब से अधिक अच्छा लगेगा। यही हम सभी मसीही विश्वासियों के अपने पिता परमेश्वर के साथ संबंधों में भी होता है। और पिता से केवल प्रार्थना करने वाले ही नहीं, वरन उस की आराधना करने वाले अधिक भले होते हैं।
अगले लेख में हम आराधना से संबंधित कुछ अन्य बातों को देखेंगे, जिस से उसके महत्व को समझ सकें, तथा उसके बारे में और सीख सकें।
यदि आप अभी भी परमेश्वर के साथ इस गहरे, प्रेम और सन्तुष्टि भरे, आनन्दित करने वाले सम्बन्ध से दूर हैं, तो आप इस सम्बन्ध का आरम्भ, स्वेच्छा से, प्रभु यीशु की शिष्यता को स्वीकार करने के द्वारा कर सकते हैं, जो साथ ही आप के अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित कर देगा। इसके लिए आप अभी, इसी समय प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर सकते हैं। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए – उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Ways of Worshipping God (3) – Exalting

In the previous articles we have seen that there are two ways of communicating with God – asking from Him in prayers and offering to Him through worship. In prayer, we ask from God, for ourselves or for others, expecting to receive from Him; whereas in worship we give to God, in the form of material things or through words and expressions of thankfulness, of praising Him, of exalting Him. In the last article we have considered the first two kinds of expressions, i.e., thanking and praising God, as forms of worship. Being thankful or giving thanks to God is the most basic form of giving to God. But instead of always being a sincere expression from the heart, it can merely be a formal expression, or simply an etiquette, and then it loses its value as an offering of worship to God. Praise is a higher form of worship than being thankful; very often it is related to what God has done for the person or what the person has received from God, in response to his prayers. So, although praise honors and glorifies God, yet its scope is limited to a particular action received by the person from God. Today, we will consider exalting and glorifying God or describing God as an expression of worship, and will then look at an example, from the point-of-view of prayer, thankfulness, praise, and exaltation, to understand about these forms of communicating with God.
3. Exaltation: This is probably the highest form of worship. To Exalt is to describe and declare things about God, and glorify Him for them; e.g.,:
- Who God is.
- What His holiness, powers and abilities are.
- What are His absolute, unchanging characteristics and qualities are.
- Declare how God has worked in the lives of His children in the past, in various situations; and does the same even now.
- Boldly claim and declare the works of God in each and every situation and circumstance faced by His children in the past, and express confident faith that God will do the same even now.
- Confidently affirm how nothing, absolutely nothing is impossible for Him, in any given situation, at any place, for anyone.
etc.
It is talking about, and declaring all that God is, is capable of doing, all the time, for anyone, for anything, at any place. Exaltation is the enormous, indescribably gigantic, unlimited set of God's capabilities, characteristics, goodness and all other virtues. Whereas Praise, in comparison, is a miniscule subset of what God is and can do, i.e., the part related to a particular action or event experienced by the person praising God. Praise is to stand before people and thankfully, joyfully, confidently, talk about what God has done. Exaltation is a confident, openly expressed, joyful expression of our relationship, awareness, and knowledge of God; unrelated to, or unlimited by any personal experience of God. It is to confidently go and sit in the lap of our heavenly father, who is seated on His heavenly throne, and from there declare to everyone around, God’s attributes, and to claim those attributes to work in one’s life by virtue of being a child of God, and glorify Him. Exaltation is to "show–off" our God, our heavenly father, to the world, from the worshipper's personal perspective. Since God is limitless, therefore, His exaltation, His glorification, is limitless. Thereby, you can appreciate why exaltation would be the highest form of worship; and what it would do to Satan when he hears the exaltation of God; since he had tried to raise himself even higher than God’s throne (Isaiah 14:12-14).
Let us illustrate these four forms of communicating with God, that we have seen so far, through an imaginary scenario, related to a family setting: a child needs some things for himself, and is also facing problems from a bully who keeps intimidating and troubling him. So, the child approaches his father about his needs and his problems; and then, the child goes out and speaks of the response he has received from his father about it.
Let us see how this scenario works out in these 4 ways of communicating with God:
1. PRAYER: Child: "Father I need some things; can you please provide them. Also, a boy in school bullies and troubles me, can you please do something about it."
Father says, okay son, I will do the needful; and the father provides the child’s needs as well as takes appropriate measures to keep the child safe from the bully. As an expression of gratitude for what the father has done, listened to and answered his prayers, the child can do either, any, or all of the following:
2. THANKS: The child responds to what his father has done for him by saying: “Thank you father for providing for my needs, and putting that bully in his place. I am happy, safe, and satisfied now.”
3. PRAISE: The boy goes out and tells his friends about it all. He shows to them the things his father has brought for him, their good quality, and describes how his father took care of the bully who was bothering him; and the father has also assured him about his safety, his needs being met, his being under the care of the father even in the times to come.
4. EXALTATION: The boy takes hold of his father's hand and proudly takes him to meet his friends, and proudly describes to them who his father is, how the boy can freely approach his father at any time for anything, and how his father never neglects him, always lovingly takes care of him, is ever available to listen to him and help him, and is always with him in every situation. The child publicly exults in the goodness, virtues, greatness, and characteristics of his father, ever available for him.
Now, ponder over the above and see for yourself, which of these 4 forms of the child’s communicating with the father, will please the father most; and which one will best describe the relationship between the child and the father? There should be no doubt that not just prayer, but the worship part will please the father more; and in the worship, the exaltation would be the highest, most cherished and appreciated form that the father would like to receive. This is just the same as happens to all of us Christian Believers in our relationship with God our heavenly Father, and why offering Worship to God is far better than just offering Prayers to God.

If you have not yet come into this deep, loving, satisfying, joyful relationship with God, then you can take the first step towards it by voluntarily accepting to be the disciple of the Lord Jesus, which will also simultaneously ensure your eternal life and heavenly rewards. You can take a decision in favor of the Lord Jesus right now. Wherever there is surrender and obedience towards the Lord Jesus, the Lord’s blessings and safety are also there. If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so – the decision is yours.
