पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति मसीही गवाही से प्रमाणित - यूहन्ना 15:26; 16:7

मसीही सेवकाई और मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की भूमिका की बातों से संबंधित हमारे इस अध्ययन में अभी तक हमने देखा और सीखा है कि किस प्रकार परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन कार्य करता है जिससे उसे उस सेवकाई के लिए जो परमेश्वर ने उसके लिए निर्धारित की है (इफिसियों 2:10) तैयार करे तथा प्रभावी बनाए। इस संदर्भ में हमने देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासी को प्रभु यीशु मसीह की बातों को स्मरण करवाता है, सिखाता है, और उसे वह सुरक्षा तथा सहायता प्रदान करता है जिसकी सहायता से प्रभु का विश्वासी और उपयोगी जन “संसार का सरदार” (यूहन्ना 14:30), अर्थात शैतान का सामना कर सके।

 

यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के अध्याय 13 से 17 तक प्रभु यीशु मसीह के पकड़वाए जाने से ठीक पहले, फसह के पर्व का भोज खाते समय, अपने शिष्यों से किया गया अंतिम वार्तालाप है। प्रभु इस वार्तालाप और इसमें दी गई शिक्षाओं के द्वारा उन्हें आते समयों और परिस्थितियों के लिए तैयार कर रहा था। इसी वार्तालाप के दौरान प्रभु अपने शिष्यों से उन्हें आते समय में पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त होने की बात समझाता है, जिसके बारे में 14 और 16 अध्याय में लिखा है। इन अध्यायों का अध्ययन करते समय, शिष्यों द्वारा पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने से संबंधित एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य हमारे सामने आता है - अध्याय 14-16 में, चार बार लिखा गया है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा केवल प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर से तथा उसके द्वारा ही, और प्रभु के शिष्यों को ही प्रदान किया जाता है (14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7)। प्रभु क्यों शिष्यों से बारंबार यह बात कह रहा था? यह एक सामान्य व्यवहार और समझ की बात है कि यदि कोई शिक्षक अथवा अगुवा किसी एक ही बात को बारंबार दोहराए, बल देकर विभिन्न प्रकार से कहे, तो तात्पर्य यही है कि वह बात महत्वपूर्ण है, ध्यान रखने योग्य है, उसकी उपयोगिता है, और उसकी अनदेखी नहीं करनी चाहिए। आज के अध्ययन के दोनों पदों को देखिए:

• यूहन्ना 15:26 “परन्तु जब वह सहायक आएगा, जिसे मैं तुम्हारे पास पिता की ओर से भेजूंगा, अर्थात सत्य का आत्मा जो पिता की ओर से निकलता है, तो वह मेरी गवाही देगा।”

• यूहन्ना 16:7 “तौभी मैं तुम से सच कहता हूं, कि मेरा जाना तुम्हारे लिये अच्छा है, क्योंकि यदि मैं न जाऊं, तो वह सहायक तुम्हारे पास न आएगा, परन्तु यदि मैं जाऊंगा, तो उसे तुम्हारे पास भेज दूंगा।”

प्रभु ने उस समय के मौखिक वार्तालाप में तो पवित्र आत्मा को भेजने की बात दोहराई ही, साथ ही जब इस सुसमाचार को भावी विश्व-व्यापी मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए लिखा गया, तो उसमें भी लिखवा दिया; अर्थात, यह बात सारे संसार के सभी स्थानों और समयों के उन सभी विश्वासियों के लिए भी उतनी ही महत्वपूर्ण थी, जितनी कि तब प्रभु के साथ उपस्थित उन शिष्यों के लिए थी। प्रभु ने संसार के सभी मसीही विश्वासियों से, वे चाहे किसी भी समय या स्थान के क्यों न हों, इस बात को बल देकर कहा है, जिससे कि वे कभी भी भरमाए न जाएं, गलत शिक्षा में न पड़ जाएं, परमेश्वर के स्वर्गदूतों के भेस में आने वाले शैतान के दूतों द्वारा वचन के सत्य से बहकाए न जाएं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15)। आज सारे संसार भर में ऐसे मत, समुदायों, और डिनॉमिनेशंस का बोलबाला है जो परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से और उन से संबंधित बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाएं लोगों को सिखाने में लगे हुए हैं। वे बाइबल के पदों, वाक्यांशों, शब्दों, और बातों को उनके संदर्भ से बाहर लेकर, उन्हें अपनी धारणाओं के अनुसार तोड़-मरोड़ कर प्रस्तुत करते हैं, उनपर अपनी उन्हीं गलत धारणाओं से संबंधित अर्थ बैठाते हैं। ऐसे लोगों की गलत शिक्षाओं में एक प्रमुख शिक्षा मसीह यीशु पर विश्वास करने के बाद, अलग से पवित्र आत्मा को प्राप्त करने के प्रयत्न करने के संबंध में होती है। वे लोगों के मनों में यह गलत शिक्षा बैठा देने के प्रयास करते हैं कि मनुष्य अपनी युक्तियों, विधियों, और प्रयासों से, या किसी व्यक्ति विशेष अथवा उनके मत के लोगों या उनके अगुवे द्वारा दिखाए और बताए गए निर्देशों का पालन करने से पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त कर सकता है - मानो पवित्र आत्मा परमेश्वर नहीं मनुष्य के हाथों की कठपुतली है! और साथ ही वे मरकुस 16:18 का दुरुपयोग करते हुए बल देकर एक और गलत शिक्षा भी जोड़ देते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा मिलने का प्रमाण ‘अन्य भाषाएं बोलना’ तथा आश्चर्यकर्म करना है।

 ये लोग अपनी धारणाओं को बहुत बल देकर प्रस्तुत करते हैं। वे बहुत शोर-शराबे तथा विचित्र शारीरिक हाव-भाव और क्रियाओं के साथ अपनी बातों को यह कहकर प्रस्तुत करते हैं कि उनका यह शोर-शराबा, विचित्र शारीरिक क्रियाएं और हाव-भाव पवित्र आत्मा पा लेने और उनमें पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य विद्यमान होने के प्रमाण हैं। किन्तु उपरोक्त यूहन्ना 15:26 में देखिए, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने पवित्र आत्मा के प्रभु के शिष्यों में आने के विषय क्या कहा, क्या प्रमाण दिया - “वह मेरी गवाही देगा”; अर्थात शिष्य में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति, उस शिष्य के जीवन में प्रभु यीशु मसीह की गवाही विद्यमान होने से प्रमाणित होगी, न कि बाइबल से बाहर की बातों के द्वारा! वह शिष्य मसीह के समान जीना आरंभ कर देगा (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:1-2, 11), प्रभु का गवाह होकर कार्य करने लगेगा, प्रभु यीशु की आज्ञाकारिता में किसी मनुष्य-मत-समुदाय-डिनॉमिनेशन को नहीं वरन परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाला जीवन व्यतीत करेगा (गलातियों 1:9-10)। शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य प्राप्त होने से संबंधित प्रभु यीशु की शिक्षाओं के इन चारों हवालों में (यूहन्ना 14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7) प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों से ऐसी कोई बात नहीं कही जैसी ये पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित गलत शिक्षाएं देने वाले बताते और सिखाते हैं। वरन प्रभु यीशु ने आते समय की इन गलत शिक्षाओं से सचेत रहने के लिए ही पहले से ही अपने शिष्यों को समझा दिया, उनके लिए लिखवा दिया कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा किसी मनुष्य के तरीकों से नहीं, केवल और केवल प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर से ही मिलता है, और प्रत्येक सच्चे मसीही विश्वासी में, उसके उद्धार पाते ही तुरंत ही आकर निवास करने लगता है, जैसा कि हम पहले देख चुके हैं। जिसका वास्तव में उद्धार नहीं हुआ है, उसमें परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा भी निवास नहीं करेगा, वह व्यक्ति चाहे जितने प्रयास, प्रार्थना, उपवास, आदि क्यों न कर ले। व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति, उस व्यक्ति के प्रभु यीशु द्वारा ही उद्धार के सुसमाचार का गवाह होने से, प्रभु यीशु मसीह की गवाही रखने (यूहन्ना 15:26) और उस व्यक्ति के द्वारा शरीर की लालसाओं को त्याग कर जीवन में पवित्र आत्मा के फल दर्शाने (गलातीयों 5:22-24) के द्वारा प्रमाणित होती है।

 

यदि आप एक मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो ध्यान रखिए कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी का सहायक है, और केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह तथा पिता परमेश्वर की ओर से आता है। वह मनुष्य के हाथ की कठपुतली नहीं है जिसे मनुष्य अपने प्रयासों और मन के अनुसार लेता-देता रहे, एक-दूसरे पर उतारता रहे, किसी पर उतर आने के लिए बाध्य करता रहे, और फिर उस से कुछ-कुछ तमाशे करवाता रहे। ऐसी भावना रखने वाले लोग शमौन जादूगर, जो विश्वासी तो समझा जाता था, किन्तु जिसको दुष्टता से भरा हुआ कहा गया है, के समान हैं क्योंकि वह परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को अपने वश में रखकर अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार प्रयोग करना चाहता था (प्रेरितों 8:18-23)। ऐसे लोगों और उनकी बाइबल के अतिरक्त भ्रामक शिक्षाओं तथा गलत सिद्धांतों से बचकर रहिए; उनके बहकावे में न पड़िए।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि स्वयं परमेश्वर आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को औरों पर प्रकट करे, तथा पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

A Witnessing Life Evidence of Holy Spirit's Presence - John 15:26; 16:7

In our study on the role of the Holy Spirit in Christian ministry and life of faith of a Christian Believer, we have seen so far how God the Holy Spirit works in every Christian Believer’s life, to prepare him and make him effective in the ministry God has assigned to him (Ephesians 2:10). In this context we have seen that the Holy Spirit brings to the Christian Believer’s remembrance the words and teachings of the Lord Jesus, and provides to him the safety and security to face “the ruler of this world” (John 14:30), i.e., Satan.

Given in John’s Gospel, from chapter 13 to 17 is the last discourse the Lord Jesus had with His disciples, just before His being caught for crucifixion, while eating the Passover feast with them. Through this discourse the Lord was preparing them for the times and situations that they would be facing soon and, in the days to come. During this conversation, as written in chapters 14 and 16, the Lord makes them understand the about the power of the Holy Spirit that they were going to receive. While reading and studying these chapters, a very important fact regarding receiving the Holy Spirit come before us - in chapters 14-16, it is written four times that the Holy Spirit is given only by the Lord God, and only to His disciples (14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7). Why was the Lord saying this to His disciples repeatedly? It is a thing of common sense and general behavior that if a teacher or an elder says something repeatedly, emphasizes upon it, expresses it in different ways, then that thing is of great importance, has to be kept in mind, it is not to be disregarded or ignored. Carefully consider both the verses of today’s study:

• John 15:26 “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me.”

• John 16:7 “Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.”

The Lord, repeated this thing not only during His oral discourse, but also when the Gospels were written for the future world-wide Christian Believers, then in the written form also He had it written repeatedly. Therefore, this thing is just as important for the world-wide community of Christian Believers now, as it was for those disciples present with the Lord Jesus at that time. The Lord Jesus has emphatically stated this for all His Believers, of all times and all places, so that they may not be misled, should not get carried away in wrong doctrines and teachings, should not fall for misinterpretations of God’s Word by the agents of the devil masquerading as the angels of the Lord (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15). Today, all over the world, many sects, groups, and denominations are working very hard to entice people into wrong teachings and false doctrines about the Holy Spirit. They take the words, verses, phrases, and teachings from the Bible out of their context and piece-meal, twist and turn them around according to their own notions, apply their own meanings and understanding to them, and then cleverly serve them to people to draw them away from the truth of God’s Word. One of the prominent teachings of such false teachers is their preaching and telling people that after being saved, they need to make some special efforts to receive the Holy Spirit. They try to make the people believe that man through his methods, devices, efforts, or through the help of some special person, or through following the instructions of an elder or people of their sect or denomination, can receive the Holy Spirit - as if the Holy Spirit is not God but a puppet in the hands of man! They also misinterpret and misuse Mark 16:18, and add another wrong teaching to this, that the proof of having received the Holy Spirit is “speaking in tongues” and doing miraculous works.

They present their false teachings and doctrines very emphatically, accompanied by a lot of noises and body gestures, claiming that these are all the manifestation of the presence of the power of the Holy Spirit in them. But look at John 15:26 given above - what proof did the Lord Jesus say about the presence of the Holy Spirit in His disciples? He said - "He will testify of Me” - i.e., the presence of the Holy Spirit in the disciple will be affirmed by the witness of the Lord Jesus in the disciple’s life, and not by anything outside of what is said in the Bible. This simply means that the disciple will start emulating the Lord Jesus (1 Corinthians 11:1; 1 Thessalonians 4:1-2, 11); will start to live in obedience to the Lord and His Word to please the Lord God, and not in obedience to any man or sect or denomination (Galatians 1:9-10). In any of these four references (John14:16-17, 26; 15:26; 16:7) of the disciples receiving the Holy Spirit, the Lord Jesus never stated any of the things these people falsely teach about receiving the Holy Spirit. Rather, the Lord Jesus has forewarned about these wrong teachings infiltrating into His Church, so that we may be cautious; the Lord has very clearly said that the Holy Spirit is not given by the efforts of any man, but only from God, and He comes to reside in every saved person from the moment of his being saved, as we have seen before. The person who is not actually Born-Again will never receive the Holy Spirit, whatever efforts, prayers, fasting, tarrying etc. he may do. The proof of the presence of the Holy Spirit in a person is his being a witness for the Lord Jesus and emulating the Lord Jesus (John 15:26), and his leaving aside the desires of the body and world, having a life demonstrating the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-24).

If you are a Christian Believer, then never forget that the Holy Spirit is a helper for every Christian Believer, and is given to him only by the Lord Jesus and God the Father. The Holy Spirit is not a puppet in the hands of man, that men may distribute or give Him out at their discretion, by their own contrived means and methods. The Holy Spirit cannot be compelled to come upon any person, nor can He be compelled to make the person do strange, odd things, like many people claim to do today “under the power and influence of the Holy Spirit.” Those who believe in such a behavior are like Simon the sorcerer, who, despite claiming to be a Believer, was called a person full of wickedness and iniquity, because he desired to keep the Holy Spirit under his control and use Him as he wanted to (Acts 8:18-23). Beware of such people, their unBiblical ways, and do not fall for their false teachings and wrong doctrines.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

मसीह विरोधी का प्रतिरोधक - यूहन्ना 14:30

हम पिछले लेखों में देखते आ रहे हैं कि एक मसीही विश्वासी के मसीही सेवकाई के जीवन में उसे व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा किस प्रकार सहायता एवं मार्गदर्शन प्रदान करता है। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा अपनी ओर से कभी कुछ नया नहीं कहता है; वह मसीहियों को मसीह यीशु के वचन, प्रभु की शिक्षाएं स्मरण करवाता है, और सेवकाई तथा मसीही जीवन से संबंधित सभी बातें सिखाता है। सीखने में व्यक्ति के परिश्रम, प्रयास, और पवित्र आत्मा की आज्ञाकारिता की आवश्यकता होती है। पवित्र आत्मा ने पतरस प्रेरित के द्वारा 2 पतरस 1:3-4 में लिखवाया है कि जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित सभी बातें, प्रभु यीशु मसीह की पहचान में होकर हमें उपलब्ध करवा दी गई हैं; तथा साथ ही इस संसार की सड़ाहट से बचने और ईश्वरीय स्वभाव के संभागी होने का मार्ग भी दे दिया गया है। अर्थात पहली कलीसिया के उस युग में, जब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के अगुवाई में प्रेरित और प्रभु के जन उन पत्रियों की रचना कर रहे थे, जिन्हें संकलित करके नए नियम के रूप में बाइबल में रखा जाना था, उसी समय मसीही विश्वासी के लिए मसीही जीवन और सेवकाई से संबंधित जो कुछ भी आवश्यक था, वह उन्हें दे दिया गया था, लिखवा दिया गया था, और अब नए नियम के रूप में हमारे हाथों में विद्यमान है। तात्पर्य यह कि परमेश्वर का वचन आरंभिक कलीसिया के समय से ही पूर्ण हो चुका है, उसमें और कुछ जोड़ने, कुछ नया बताने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। ऐसा करना परमेश्वर के वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता है, परमेश्वर द्वारा दण्डनीय है (व्यवस्थाविवरण 12:32; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य और उसे प्रसन्न करने वाला जीवन जीने के लिए मानवजाति के लिए जो कुछ भी आवश्यक है, वह सब परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने लिखवा दिया है, उपलब्ध करवा दिया है; अब हमें केवल उसका पालन करना है, आज्ञाकारी रहना है, न कि उसमें कुछ जोड़ने का प्रयास करना है।

 

इसलिए आज के उन ‘नए’ दर्शनों, भविष्यवाणियों, शिक्षाओं, चमत्कारिक बातों, आदि का कोई औचित्य अथवा आवश्यकता नहीं है; और न ही परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से उनके लिए कोई समर्थन है, जिन्हें ‘पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से’ प्राप्त करने का दावा आज बहुत से मत और समुदाय, या डिनॉमिनेशन के अनुयायी करते हैं, जिनके बारे में औरों को भी सिखाते हैं, तथा औरों को भी करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करते हैं। यदि पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित बाइबल की शिक्षाएं, प्रभु यीशु की कही बातें सही हैं, तो इन लोगों के ऐसे सभी दावे बेबुनियाद हैं, व्यर्थ हैं, झूठे हैं, और उनमें पड़ने या उन्हें स्वीकार करने का कोई आधार नहीं है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, वह न तो कभी झूठ कहेगा या करेगा, न झूठ बुलवाएगा या करवाएगा। वह वही कहेगा और करेगा जो परमेश्वर के वचन में उसने अपने विषय पहले ही लिखवा कर रखा है। इसलिए इन भ्रामक और वचन के विपरीत शिक्षाओं से बच कर रहें, उन्हें स्वीकार न करें। ऐसी सभी लुभावनी, चमत्कारिक, आकर्षक, किन्तु वचन से असंगत बातें परमेश्वर की ओर से कदापि नहीं हैं, और उनके निर्वाह से परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न नहीं किया जा सकता है। ऐसी बातों के संदर्भ में मत्ती 7:21-23 तथा 2 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:9 को सदा स्मरण रखें और 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21 के अनुसार सभी शिक्षाओं को बारीकी से जाँच-परख कर ही स्वीकार करें।

 

प्रभु ने यूहन्ना 14:30 में शिष्यों को इसी खतरे से सचेत किया, जब उन्होंने शिष्यों से कहा, “मैं अब से तुम्हारे साथ और बहुत बातें न करूंगा, क्योंकि इस संसार का सरदार आता है, और मुझ में उसका कुछ नहीं”। प्रभु जानता था कि शिष्यों द्वारा मसीही सेवकाई पर निकलते ही, उनके द्वारा सुसमाचार प्रचार आरंभ होते ही, 'संसार का सरदार' अर्थात शैतान उन पर टूट कर पड़ने वाला था; वह उन्हें बहकाने, भरमाने, और गलत मार्ग पर डालने का भरसक प्रयास करेगा। और यूहन्ना ने अपनी पहली ही पत्री में अपने पाठकों को लिखा, “हे लड़कों, यह अन्‍तिम समय है, और जैसा तुम ने सुना है, कि मसीह का विरोधी आने वाला है, उसके अनुसार अब भी बहुत से मसीह के विरोधी उठे हैं; इस से हम जानते हैं, कि यह अन्‍तिम समय है” (1 यूहन्ना 2:18)। उस मसीह विरोधी का सामना करने और उसकी युक्तियों पर शिष्यों को जयवंत रखने के लिए (2 कुरिन्थियों 2:11), प्रभु ने शिष्यों के लिए उनमें व्यक्तिगत रीति से परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के सर्वदा निवास करते रहने का यह अद्भुत और अभूतपूर्व इंतजाम कर के दिया था कि वे कभी अकेले, निःसहाय न हों; भरमाए या भटकाए न जाएं, वरन हमेशा ईश्वरीय सामर्थ्य के द्वारा सुरक्षित रह सकें। किन्तु यह तब ही संभव है जब हम पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा कहे के अनुसार करें (गलातीयों 5:16-18, 25)। किन्तु यदि हम परमेश्वर द्वारा हमारे लिए निर्धारित की गई सीमाओं के बाहर जाएंगे, तो उसकी सुरक्षा के बाड़े के बाहर आ जाएंगे, और तब शैतान हमें डस लेगा, हमें मुसीबतों में डाल देगा (अय्यूब 1:10; सभोपदेशक 10:8)। हम पर “संसार का सरदार” आन पड़ा है; वह भरसक प्रयत्न कर रहा है कि हमें परमेश्वर से और हमारी सेवकाई से दूर कर दे; हमें सही सुसमाचार के प्रचार और प्रसार से भटका दे। उसके हथियारों में से एक वह है जिसे उसने आदान की वाटिका में प्रयोग किया था; हम अपनी आँखों, अभिलाषाओं, और समझ का सहारा लेकर परमेश्वर के वचन की अनदेखी करें, और वह करें जो हमें सही, आकर्षक, और लाभकारी प्रतीत होता है। ध्यान रखिए, हम आज तक हव्वा द्वारा इस विचार के अंतर्गत उठाए गए कदम के दुष्परिणामों को भोगते चले आ रहे हैं। जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु नेयूहन्ना 14:30 में कहा है, “मुझ में उसका कुछ नहीं” - शैतान और उसकी युक्तियों का प्रभु यीशु के साथ कुछ व्यवहार नहीं है। इसलिए जो भी प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही बात या शिक्षा नहीं है, या उसके अनुरूप नहीं है, वह प्रभु परमेश्वर की ओर से कदापि नहीं है, वह चाहे किटें भी प्रभावी और आकर्षक शब्दों तथा कार्यों के साथ प्रस्तुत क्यों न की गई हो। वह केवल शैतानी है, उसका आउद्देश्य हमें भटकाना और भरमाना है, और हमें हर हाल में उससे दूर रहना है।

 

इसीलिए, यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर के वचन, को जानने और मानने में अपना समय और ध्यान लगाइए; अपनी मन-मर्जी और पसंद के अनुसार नहीं, अपितु उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में जीवन व्यतीत करें। प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को व्यक्तिगत रीति से पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य दिए जाने का उद्देश्य यही है कि वह शैतान की युक्तियों को समझे, उनके प्रति सचेत रहे, और परमेश्वर के वचन को सीख समझ कर अपनी मसीही सेवकाई के लिए सक्षम, तत्पर, और तैयार हो जाए, उस सेवकाई में लग जाए।

  

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि स्वयं परमेश्वर आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को औरों पर प्रकट करे, तथा पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Counter-Acts the Antichrist - John 14:30

We have been seeing in the previous articles how God the Holy Spirit provides guidance and help in a Christian Believer’s life and ministry. In the previous article we had seen that the Holy Spirit never says or gives anything new from His side; He only brings to remembrance the words and teachings of the Lord Jesus, and based on them, He teaches and guides the Christian Believers in their life and ministry. To learn requires efforts, striving, and obedience to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has got it written through Peter in 2 Peter 1:3-4 that all things pertaining to life and godliness, and the way to escape from the corruption of the world have been made available to using the knowledge and understanding of the Lord Jesus. In other words, in the time of the First Church, when the men of God under the guidance of the Holy Spirit were still writing the letters and books, which would later be compiled in the form of the New Testament, even at that time the Christian Believer had been provided everything required for his life and ministry, in a written form, and the same is available to us now as the New Testament. The implication is that the Word of God was completed at the time of the First Church itself; there is nothing that needs to be added to it, no newer revelations about it are required. Any addition to, or subtraction from God’s Word is tantamount to the sin of disobedience and invites God’s punishment (Deuteronomy 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). All that is required for man to live a life pleasing and acceptable to God, His Holy Spirit has already got it written and made available; now we only need to obey and follow it, not add anything else to it.

Therefore, there is no basis, need, or rational for any of the ‘new’ revelations, prophecies, teachings, charismatic works that are so often claimed and taught by many sects and denominations today. Though they claim all of these things to be from the Holy Spirit, but there is no support or affirmation for this from God’s Word, even though those people are very emphatic about these things, they teach and emphatically encourage their followers to indulge in them as a sign of their being saved and having received the Holy Spirit. If the related teachings of the Bible, and the things said by the Lord Jesus are true, then, all the claims and behavior of these people are baseless, false, vain, and there is no need to accept them or fall for them. We have seen that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth; He will never speak anything false, nor make anyone else say anything false or inconsistent with God’s Word. He will only say and do what He has already got written in God’s Word beforehand. Therefore, please beware of these false doctrines and teachings, do not accept them or believe in them. All such attractive, charismatic, enticing things, which are inconsistent with the Word of God, are not from God and God cannot be pleased by our accepting and following them. For all such things, never forget Matthew 7:21-23 and 1 Thessalonians 2:9, and in obedience to 1 Thessalonians 5:21 always thoroughly examine and verify every teaching, only then accept it, believe in it.

The Lord Jesus warned His disciples about this in John 14:30 when He said to them, “I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me.” The Lord knew that the moment the disciples step out for their Christian ministry, as soon as they start preaching the gospel, “the ruler of this world” will attack them, oppose them, and make every possible attempt to beguile and mislead them. The Apostle John wrote to his audience in his first letter, “Little children, it is the last hour; and as you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come, by which we know that it is the last hour” (1 John 2:18). To enable the disciples to face and overcome the Antichrist, the Lord made this wonderful and unique provision of God the Holy Spirit coming to reside in each and every one of His Believer, so that they would never be alone and helpless, they should not get beguiled and misled, but should remain safe and secure under divine protection. But this protection is only efficacious if the disciples of the Lord remain obedient to the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:16-18, 25). If we step out of the boundaries made by God, we will come out of the security hedge, the wall placed around us by God, and then Satan will bite and harm us (Job 1:10; Ecclesiastes 10:8). The “ruler of this world” is upon us; he is trying to do whatever he can to draw us away from God and our ministry; to prevent us from preaching and propagating the true Gospel. One of his weapons, as he used in the Garden of Eden, is to entice us into using our own eyes, intellect, and desires to disregard God’s Word and instructions, and do what seems right, attractive, and beneficial to us. Remember, we are still suffering the consequences of Eve’s believing and doing according to this line of thought. As the Lord Jesus has said in John 14:30, “he has nothing in Me” - Satan and his devices have nothing to do with the Lord Jesus; therefore, anything not in, or not in accordance with what the Lord has already said and taught, is not from the Lord, even if it is said and preached in the name of the Lord, with powerful words and works - it is satanic, meant to beguile and mislead, so stay away from it.

Therefore, if you are a Christian Believer, then spend your time in reading and learning the Word of God, the Bible; and live your life not according to what seems right to you, but according to what the Bible says to you. The purpose of every Christian Believer being given the Holy Spirit is so that he may recognize and understand the devices of Satan, be alert to them, avoid them, and by learning from the Word of God, should become empowered, prepared, and ready to effectively carry out his Christian ministry.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

• “वह तुम्हें सब बातें सिखाएगा” - पवित्र आत्मा ही 'तुम्हें' अर्थात प्रभु के शिष्यों को सब बातें सिखाता है। अर्थात वह बिना किसी भेदभाव या पक्षपात के सभी शिष्यों को समानता से प्रभु की सभी बातें सिखाने के लिए है। ध्यान कीजिए यहाँ यह नहीं कहा गया है कि जो शिष्य अलग से कोई कार्य करेंगे या कोई रीति पूरी करेंगे उन्हें सिखाएगा; या उससे मिलने वाली वचन की यह शिक्षा कुछ विशेष चुने हुए शिष्यों ही के लिए है, अन्य के लिए नहीं। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा प्रभु के हर शिष्य को सभी बातें सिखाएगा। सीखना परिश्रम से, बारंबार अध्ययन करने और परस्पर चर्चा करने से ही होता है; पुस्तक हाथ में पकड़ लेने या उसका सिरहाना बना लेने, या लापरवाही से कभी-कभार पढ़ लेने से सीखना नहीं हो सकता है। बारंबार पढ़ना, लिखी बातों का पालन करना, दिए गए अभ्यास को करके शिक्षक को दिखाना और उसकी जाँच करवाना होता है। सीखना एक प्रक्रिया है, जिसका निर्वाह करना आवश्यक है; और इसके लिए पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासियों का शिक्षक है। सीखने में विद्यार्थियों द्वारा गलतियाँ होती हैं, उनके कार्य में कमी रह जाती है। तब शिक्षक उन गलतियों को सुधार कर संबंधित अध्ययन और निर्धारित कार्य को पुनः करने को देता है। इसमें समय और सतत प्रयास की आवश्यकता होती है; किन्तु इस प्रक्रिया से निकले बिना सीखना नहीं होने पाता है। ठीक इसी प्रक्रिया का निर्वाह पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई और सामर्थ्य से परमेश्वर के वचन के अध्ययन और मसीही सेवकाई से संबंधित बाइबल में दिए गए परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के पालन करने में भी किया जाता है। परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासी में निवास करता है, और जब तक वह विश्वासी उसके साथ सहयोग करता है, उसका आज्ञाकारी रहता है, पवित्र आत्मा उसका मार्गदर्शन करता है, उसे सिखाता है, सुधारता है, सक्षम तथा उन्नत करता रहता है। 

• “जो कुछ मैं ने तुम से कहा है, वह सब तुम्हें स्मरण कराएगा” - आज बहुत से मत और डिनॉमिनेशंस में यह गलत शिक्षा और व्यवहार बहुत आम है कि उनके अनुयायी ये दावे करते हैं कि उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा ने कुछ विशिष्ट कहा है, या उन्हें कोई नई शिक्षा दी है, या उन्हें कोई नया दर्शन मिला है - ऐसी बातें और भविष्यवाणियाँ जो बाइबल में नहीं दी गई हैं, जिन्हें न प्रभु यीशु ने और न ही उनके शिष्यों अथवा प्रेरितों, या वचन की पुस्तकें लिखने वालों ने कहा और लिखा है। उनकी इन बातों से प्रभावित होकर बहुत से लोग भी ऐसे अनुभवों की लालसाएं करने लगते हैं, उनके समान करने के प्रयासों में लग जाते हैं। जबकि यह विचार, व्यवहार, और शिक्षा बाइबल के अनुसार सही नहीं है, सर्वथा अनुचित और गलत है। आज हमारे हाथों में जो परमेश्वर का वचन है वह अधूरा नहीं संपूर्ण है; हर स्थान, समय, और सभ्यता के लिए, सभी लोगों को जीवन और भक्ति से संबंधित सब कुछ सिखाने, संसार की सड़ाहट से बचाने, और ईश्वरीय स्वभाव का संभागी बनाने के लिए पर्याप्त है (2 पतरस 1:2-4)। उसमें और कुछ भी नया जोड़ने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है। वचन में चेतावनी है कि जो भी इसमें कुछ जोड़ेगा, या इस में से कुछ निकालेगा, उसे यह करने के लिए परमेश्वर के दंड का भागी होना पड़ेगा (व्यवस्थाविवरण 12:32; नीतिवचन 30:6; प्रकाशितवाक्य 22:18-19)। इस पद में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने स्पष्ट कहा है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षा का तरीका केवल प्रभु द्वारा कही गई बातों को स्मरण करवाने का; उनके आधार पर सिखाने का है; इससे अतिरिक्त या इससे पृथक नहीं। प्रभु यीशु ने यह नहीं कहा कि वह अपनी ओर से शिष्यों को कोई नई शिक्षाएं, कोई नए दर्शन देगा, स्थापित वचन में अपने द्वारा कोई नई बात जोड़ेगा। इसकी पुष्टि में, प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने अपनी महान आज्ञा में, अपने स्वर्गारोहण के समय शिष्यों से कहा कि वे जाकर और शिष्य बनाएं, तथा जो शिष्य बनते हैं उन्हें प्रभु यीशु की बातें सिखाएं (मत्ती 28:18-20); न कि उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा नई शिक्षाएं, नए दर्शन और नई भविष्यवाणियाँ प्राप्त करने के लिए लालसा, परिश्रम, और प्रयास करने वाले बनना सिखाएं। 

तात्पर्य यह है कि पहले प्रभु की बातों को पढ़ो और मन में बसाओ (कुलुस्सियों 3:16)। जो और जितना मन में बसा हुआ है, पवित्र आत्मा उसे ही स्मरण करवाने के द्वारा सिखाएगा। इस पद से कुछ ऊपर यूहन्ना 14:21, 23 में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने शिष्यों से कहा कि जो उसके वचन से प्रेम करता है, वही है जो वास्तविकता में प्रभु से प्रेम करता है, और प्रभु तथा पिता परमेश्वर ऐसे प्रेम करने वालों के साथ रहते हैं। यदि वचन अधिकाई से मन में बस हुआ होगा तो स्मरण करवाने और सिखाने के लिए अधिक सामग्री होगी, बेहतर सीखने पाएंगे। यदि वचन मन में कम होगा तो पवित्र आत्मा के पास स्मरण करवाने और सिखाने के लिए कम सामग्री होगी, और कम ही सीखने पाएंगे। जिस शिष्य ने वचन जितना अधिक अपने मन में बसा रखा है, समय, परिस्थिति, तथा आवश्यकता के अनुसार परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को उसे उतना अधिक और अच्छा सिखाने, तथा उपयोग करवाने का अवसर रहेगा।

 

इसीलिए, यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो परमेश्वर के वचन, बाइबल को अपने जीवन में प्राथमिकता दीजिए। वचन को केवल औपचारिकता निभाते हुए पढ़ने वाले ही नहीं, वरन लगन एवं गंभीरता से वचन का अध्ययन तथा पालन करने वाले बनिए। मसीही विश्वासी के अंदर निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा प्रत्येक विश्वासी को वचन सिखाने के लिए ही दिया गया है। यदि आप उसके साथ मिलकर प्रयास और परिश्रम करने के लिए तैयार हैं तो वह अवश्य ही आपको भी सिखाएगा क्योंकि वह तो सभी को सिखाना चाहता है और सभी मसीही विश्वासियों को सिखाता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:10-15; 2 तिमुथियुस 3:16-17)।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि स्वयं परमेश्वर आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; फिर आप में होकर अपने आप को औरों पर प्रकट करे, अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे आपको आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Holy Spirit as Teacher - John 14:26

We are studying the role, help, and guidance provided by the Holy Spirit in the life of a true, obedient, and committed disciple of Christ Jesus, for his life and Christian ministry. We have seen that the Holy Spirit comes to reside in every Believer, the moment his is saved, is Born-Again; and the Holy Spirit has two kinds of roles in the Believer’s life as given by the Lord Jesus in His discourse in John chapter 14 and 16. In John 14 we see the role of the Holy Spirit in the personal life of the Believer; and in John 16 is given the role in the life of a Believer’s ministry. We have seen from John 14:16-17 about His role in a Believer’s personal life, that - He is freely and willingly given by God to His Believers, and is not obtained through any human efforts or methods; having once come to reside in a Believer, the Holy Spirit remains in and with him for life; is the Believer’s helper in living out his life of Christian faith, and not his servant or substitute. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth; He never comes to reside in any worldly or unsaved person - no matter how religious or good that person may be and whatever efforts he may make to have the Holy Spirit; He only resides in and stays with the actual Christian Believers. Today, we will see the role of the Holy Spirit related to a Christian Believer learning the Word of God.

During the Passover feast, while telling them about the Holy Spirit, whom they were going to receive in the near future, the Lord Jesus further stated, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). Here, in this verse, we see two main things. Firstly, it is reiterated that the Holy Spirit is sent by God, i.e., He does not come through any man, but only when and to whom God sends Him. Secondly, this verse tells us the method a Christian Believer learns the Word of God through the Holy Spirit. The way the Holy Spirit teaches God’s people, God’s Word is:

• “He will teach you all things” - The Lord Jesus told His disciples that the Holy Spirit will teach “you all things” i.e., those who are the disciples of Christ Jesus. Implied in this statement is that all of the disciples will be taught similarly, without any discrimination, all the things. This is very important to take note of; pay attention that the Lord has not said that those disciples who do some extra things or fulfill some particular ritual or process, the Holy Spirit will teach only them and not the others, or teach them better and differently. The Holy Spirit will teach all things to every disciple of the Lord. It is general knowledge that learning is only through laboring about it, studying the topic repeatedly, and discussing what has been read or learnt with others. No one can learn anything by being casual and careless about it, reading occasionally, or just keeping the text-book without reading it regularly and diligently. While learning, the person has to read and go through the lesson repeatedly, do the exercises that have been instructed in the lesson, and have a review and evaluation done by the instructor. Learning is a process, and the process has to be fulfilled; the Holy Spirit guides the Believer through this process. While learning all students make mistakes, do lack in some things; and then the instructor points out those mistakes and short-comings, guides how to correct them, and takes them through the lesson again. Learning requires time, patience, practice, and efforts; and without undergoing this process learning does not happen. The same holds true for learning from the Holy Spirit about God’s Word, about the way of doing the assigned ministry, and about being obedient to God’s instructions in living the Christian life of faith and commitment. The Holy Spirit resides in every Christian Believer, but for Him to be able to help and guide the Believer, the person has to learn to be sensitive to His promptings, cooperative and obedient to His instructions, be willing and prepared to face the situations He takes one through, persevering in repeatedly handling difficulties and opposition, etc.; only then does the Believer learn, improve, and grow in faith and maturity. 

• “bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” - These days it is a very commonly seen thing amongst some sects and denominations, that their members and followers claim to have received some new revelation or teaching or specific instructions etc., from the Holy Spirit, things that have never been said or written by the authors of the books of the Bible, and prophecies that have never been made in the Bible - this is inconsistent with the Word of God and with the characteristics of the Holy Spirit. It is an unBiblical, wrong teaching and behaviour. Many people, often the newcomers to Christianity are misled and misguided into having similar ambitions and exhibiting similar behaviour. This is misusing the name and work of the Holy Spirit, and committing the sin of adding to the Word of God. the Word of God that we have in our hands today is complete and final in every aspect; and is sufficient for people of every place, time, civilization, to teach them all that is required for life and godliness, to help them escape the corruption of the world, and make them partakers of the divine nature (2 Peter 1:2-4). There is no rational or need to add anything new to it; therefore, God will never give any new revelations or prophecies outside of what He has already provided in His Word. Anyone attempting to add to God’s Word or to remove anything from it will have to face God’s punishment for this (Deuteronomy 12:32; Proverbs 30:6; Revelation 22:18-19). In this verse that we are looking at, the Lord Jesus has very clearly said that the Holy Spirit will teach the disciples by reminding them of what the Lord had said; He will teach them what has already been said by the Lord; the Holy Spirit will never teach anything other than that or extra. The Lord Jesus never said that the Holy Spirit will give any new teachings or visions or revelations to the disciples, or would add anything to God’s Word later on. This is affirmed by what the Lord Jesus said in His ‘Great Commission’ instructions to the disciples - that they should make other disciples, and to those who choose to become the Lord’s disciples, teach what the Lord Jesus had taught them (Matthew 28:18-20). The Lord never said to them that they should teach and encourage the new disciples to seek new teachings, revelations, prophecies etc., be desirous of such experiences, to strive to engage in such things. Therefore, any such teachings and behavior in the name of the Holy Spirit or the Lord is contrary to what they have said and got written in the Bible, and is unacceptable.

The lesson to learn is that the disciples, the Believers, should first read and stablish in their hearts and minds the words of the Lord (Colossians 3:16). Whatever, and as much as we store up in our hearts and minds, the Holy Spirit will teach and remind us about it. The more of God’s Word we have within ourselves, the better off we will be, and if we don’t store up much of the Lord’s Word within us, the Holy Spirit will also not have much to teach us from, and neither will He be able to bring to our remembrance the required Word according to the need or circumstances we may be in. So, a disciple’s primary responsibility to learn from the Holy Spirit is to first store up as much of God’s Word as he can within himself. Just a few verses before this verse, in John 14:21, 23 the Lord Jesus had said to His disciples that the one who loves His Word, is the one who actually loves the Lord, and the Lord and God the Father abide with such a person.

Therefore, if you are a Christian Believer, give God’s Word the priority it ought to have in your life. Do not just read the Bible to fulfill a formality, but read it to learn it, to store up its teachings within you, and to obey them. The Holy Spirit has been given to every Believer to help, guide, and teach him (1 Corinthians 2:10-15; 2 Timothy 3:16-17); but He can do this only when the person is willing to cooperate with Him and strive as He directs.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
