मसीही जीवन के चार स्तम्भ - 4 - प्रार्थना (18) 

व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन में प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों की बहुत महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका है। इन चारों बातों के लौलीन होकर पालन करने से, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी अपने विश्वास में स्थिर और दृढ़ होते गए, सँख्या में बढ़ते गए, और कलीसियाएं भी बढ़ती गईं। इन चारों बातों का एक परम्परा के समान औपचारिक निर्वाह करने के कारण, इन चारों के बारे में मसीही समाज में अनेकों गलत शिक्षाएं और अनुचित धारणाएं घर कर गईं। इन चारों में से पहली तीन बातों के बाइबल के अनुसार सही स्वरूप और निर्वाह को देखने के बाद, हम इस समय इनमें से चौथी बात, प्रार्थना करने के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से सीख रहे हैं। मसीहियों में यह आम धारणा है कि परमेश्वर की यह प्रतिज्ञा है कि जो भी प्रार्थनाएं “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” माँगी जाएंगी, वह उन सभी का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। अपने इस अध्ययन में हमने देखा है कि ऐसा प्रभु की बातों को उनके सन्दर्भ से बाहर लेकर और उनकी गलत व्याख्या करने, गलत अर्थ देने के कारण है। परमेश्वर कि यह प्रतिज्ञा सभी लोगों की हर तरह की प्रार्थनाओं के लिए नहीं है। वरन केवल प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों की परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार तथा उसके वचन से सुसंगत प्रार्थनाओं के लिए ही है। इस बात को समझने के लिए हम बाइबल में से प्रभु और शिष्यों द्वारा किए गए अद्भुत कार्यों से सीख रहे हैं। अभी तक हमने देखा है कि प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्य भी तब ही सेवकाई और अद्भुत कार्य करने पाए जब उन्होंने उन कार्यों को प्रभु की अनुमति और उसकी सामर्थ्य के अन्तर्गत किया। जब उन्होंने अपनी इच्छा के अनुसार उन्हीं कार्यों को करना चाहा, तो नहीं करने पाए। इसी सन्दर्भ में हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था कि प्रभु ने अपने स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने से पहले, शिष्यों को यरूशलेम से लेकर पृथ्वी के छोर तक सुसमाचार प्रचार की जो सेवकाई सौंपी थी, उसे वे केवल पवित्र आत्मा और उसकी सामर्थ्य पाने के बाद ही करने पाए थे। आज हम इसी बात को आगे देखेंगे। 

हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रभु ने जो सेवकाई शिष्यों को अपने स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने के समय सौंपी थी, वह उससे भिन्न नहीं थी, जो उन्होंने प्रभु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में, प्रभु के निर्देशानुसार और मार्गदर्शन में की थी। तब, उस समय उस सेवकाई को करने के लिए, उनके साथ प्रभु की सामर्थ्य थी। अब प्रभु के चले जाने के बाद उन्हें इसी सेवकाई को फिर से, वैसे ही प्रभावी रीति से करने के लिए, उसी ईश्वरीय मार्गदर्शन और सामर्थ्य की आवश्यकता थी। पवित्र आत्मा के उनमें आकर निवास करने के बाद, पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य उनको उपलब्ध हो गई, और वे फिर से वही सेवकाई, उसी रीति से, प्रभावी रीति से करने पाए। यह एक बार फिर दिखाता है कि प्रभु के वे शिष्य, अपनी प्रार्थनाओं को केवल “विश्वास से” माँगने, या “यीशु के नाम में” माँगने से कुछ नहीं कर सकते थे। उनकी प्रार्थनाओं और सेवकाई को सम्भव और प्रभावी होने के लिए उनमें परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य भी अनिवार्य थी। किन्तु आज मसीही समाज में व्याप्त गलत शिक्षाओं और अनुचित धारणाओं के कारण, कोई भी केवल यह कहकर कि वह “विश्वास से” या “प्रभु यीशु के नाम से” प्रार्थना को माँग रहा है, आशा रखता है कि परमेश्वर उसकी प्रार्थना का सकारात्मक उत्तर देने के लिए बाध्य है। और जब बात उनकी इच्छा के अनुसार पूरी नहीं होती है, तो फिर उसका दोष परमेश्वर, प्रभु यीशु, मसीही विश्वास, प्रार्थना की आवश्यकता और औचित्य, आदि को दिया जाता है। कोई यह देखने का प्रयास नहीं करता है कि प्रार्थना में इन वाक्यांशों के प्रयोग के विषय वचन की सही शिक्षाएं क्या हैं। कलीसियाओं के अगुवे, पादरी, और प्रचारक भी वचन की सही समझ और शिक्षा के स्थान पर रूढ़िवादी गलत और अनुचित शिक्षाओं का ही प्रचार और प्रसार करते रहते हैं। बजाए प्रभु के चरणों पर बैठकर समर्पित और सच्चे मन से, वचन से यह सीखने के कि प्रभु ने प्रार्थना का उत्तर देने के बारे में वास्तव में कहा क्या है। 

प्रभु यीशु ने शिष्यों को यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्यायों में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के उनकी सहायता के लिए उनमें आकर रहने, और उन्हें सामर्थ्य देने के बारे में सिखाया था। पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य से शिष्यों द्वारा की जाने वाली सेवकाई के सन्दर्भ में हम उसी खण्ड में से एक पद देखते हैं, “परन्तु सहायक अर्थात पवित्र आत्मा जिसे पिता मेरे नाम से भेजेगा, वह तुम्हें सब बातें सिखाएगा, और जो कुछ मैं ने तुम से कहा है, वह सब तुम्हें स्मरण कराएगा” (यूहन्ना 14:26)। यहाँ पर हम स्पष्ट देखते हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों का सहायक है; वह उन्हें प्रभु के वचन को सिखाता है; वह उन्हें प्रभु की बातें याद दिलाता है। पिछले लेखों में हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों की केवल उन्हीं प्रार्थनाओं के सकारात्मक उत्तर मिलते हैं, जो परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार, और उसके वचन से सुसंगत होती हैं। प्रभु के शिष्यों में निवास करने वाला पवित्र आत्मा, उन्हें यही करने में सहायता करता है - प्रभु के वचन को ध्यान करवाता है, इसलिए वे वचन से सुसंगत प्रार्थना माँग सकते हैं, और प्रभु की बातें याद दिलाता है, इसलिए वे शिष्य प्रभु की इच्छा को ध्यान करते हुए उसी इच्छा के अनुसार प्रार्थनाएं माँग सकते हैं। क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता से परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रार्थनाओं के सकारात्मक उत्तर देने की शर्तें पूरी हो जाती हैं, इसीलिए प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों की, पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में की गई प्रार्थनाएं सुनी जाती हैं, और पूरी भी की जाती हैं। इसीलिए प्रभु ने शिष्यों को पवित्र आत्मा के आने तक, और उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की सामर्थ्य और सहायता उपलब्ध होने तक प्रतीक्षा करने के लिए कहा। यदि वे शिष्य अपनी ही समझ और इच्छा के अनुसार सेवकाई पर निकलते, प्रभु के नाम में कुछ अद्भुत कार्य करने का दावा करते और फिर असफल रहते, तो आरम्भ होते ही सेवकाई असफल हो जाती, शिष्यों की हिम्मत टूट जाती, उनमें विश्वास के स्थान पर अविश्वास आ जाता, और सुसमाचार प्रचार का सारा काम अस्त-व्यस्त हो जाता। 

इसी बात, “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” में प्रार्थना माँगने को और आगे बढ़ाते हुए हम इस विषय पर कुछ और बातें अगले लेख में सीखेंगे।

   

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (18)

The four things given in Acts 2:42 have a very important role in practical Christian living. Because of steadfastly observing those four things, the initial Christian Believers could stand firm in their faith, increased in numbers, and the churches also increased. Today because of observing these four things as a ritual, a formality, many wrong teachings and wrong concepts have come into Christianity. Having seen the Biblically correct form and observance about the first three of the four things, we are now learning about the fourth, i.e., praying, from God’s Word the Bible. There is a common notion amongst the Christians that God has promised to answer all prayers made to Him “in faith” or “in the name of Jesus” in the affirmative. We have seen in this study that this notion is because of taking the Lord’s statements out of their context and giving wrong meanings to them. The Biblical fact is that this promise from God is not for all kinds of prayers made by anyone. Rather, it is for the prayers that are in accordance with God’s will and consistent with His Word, and are made by the true, surrendered, and obedient disciples of the Lord. To understand this thing we are considering the miraculous works done by the Lord and His disciples, written in the Bible. So far, we have seen that even the true, surrendered, obedient disciples of the Lord could do the ministry and miraculous works only under the permission and power given by the Lord. When they tried to do the same on their own, they could not do them. In this context we had seen in the previous article that before His ascension to heaven, the Lord had given the ministry of preaching the gospel starting from Jerusalem, to the end of the world, to His disciples; but they were to do it only after receiving the Holy Spirit and His power. Today we will consider this further.

We have seen that the ministry the Lord had given to the disciples at the time of His ascension, was no different from the ministry they had carried out during the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus, under His guidance and instructions. At that time, they had with them the power of the Lord. Now, after the Lord having gone, to do the same ministry equally effectively, they needed a similar divine guidance and power. Once the Holy Spirit came to reside in them, His power became available to them, and they could do the same ministry equally effectively. This once again illustrates that those disciples of the Lord could not do anything by merely asking their prayers “in faith” or “in the name of Jesus.” For their prayers to be possible and effective, they also required the power of God with them. But today, because so many wrong teachings and concepts are so prevalent in Christianity, everyone and anyone is asking prayers and then simply adding “in faith” or “in the name of Jesus” to them, and then expecting that God will be constrained to fulfill them just as they have demanded. And when things do not work out according to their expectations, then God, Lord Jesus, Christian faith, the necessity and rationale for prayer, etc. are held responsible for the failure. Nobody cares to see and find out what the true teachings related to using these phrases, as given in the Bible, are. The Church Elders, Pastors, and preachers, instead of giving the correct teachings based on proper understanding of God’s Word, continue to preach and teach the traditional wrong teachings and wrong concepts. They continue to do this instead of sitting at the Lord’s feet with a truly surrendered and obedient heart to learn what the Lord has actually said about answering prayers.

The Lord Jesus taught His disciples, in John chapters 14 to 16, about the Holy Spirit coming to reside in them as their helper, and empowering them. From this section of doing ministry with the help and power of the Holy Spirit, let us consider one verse appropriate to our current study, “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). Here we see clearly stated that the Holy Spirit is the helper of the disciples of the Lord; He teaches them the Word of God; He brings the things of the Lord to their remembrance. In the previous articles we have learnt that even for the true disciples of the Lord, only those of their prayers are answered affirmatively by God, which are in the will of God and are consistent with His Word. The Holy Spirit residing in the disciples helps them in doing this - He reminds them of God’s Word, so they can ask prayers consistent with the Word of God; He brings to their remembrance the things of the Lord, so they remember things and can pray according to the Lord's will. Because with the help of the Holy Spirit, the conditions necessary for an affirmative answer to prayers by God are fulfilled, therefore the prayers of the true disciples of the Lord, made under the guidance of the Holy Spirit are also fulfilled. It was for this reason that the Lord asked the disciples to wait till they received the Holy Spirit, and had His power and help available for their ministry. If those disciples had gone out for ministry on their own, had made claims to do some wondrous thing in the name of the Lord, and then failed in doing it, then their ministry would have been a failure from its very beginning, the disciples would have lost their faith and courage, would have become discouraged, and the whole work of the ministry would have become unsettled and ineffective.

In the next article we will carry this further and learn some more things about asking “in faith” or “in the name of Jesus”.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रार्थना में परमेश्वर के साथ निरन्तर जुड़े रहना, अर्थात, हर समय, हर बात के लिए, परमेश्वर से वार्तालाप करते रहना; परमेश्वर को अपनी बात बताना, तथा परमेश्वर से उसकी बात सुनना, व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन का एक अनिवार्य और अभिन्न भाग है। ऐसा करने से ही मसीही विश्वासी शैतान द्वारा बहकाए और पाप में गिराए जाने से सुरक्षित रह सकते हैं। प्रथम कलीसिया और आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी, प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई चार बातों, जिनमें से चौथी बात थी प्रार्थना करना, में लौलीन रहते थे। पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम प्रार्थना को लेकर मसीहियों में व्याप्त गलत धारणाओं और गलत शिक्षाओं के बारे में परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से देखते आ रहे हैं, ताकि उनके सही स्वरूप और उपयोगिता को, तथा व्यक्तिगत जीवन में उनका पालन करने को समझ सकें। इस सन्दर्भ में हम वर्तमान में “विश्वास से” तथा “यीशु के नाम में” माँगने के बारे में वचन से देख और सीख रहे हैं। हमने इन दोनों वाक्यांशों के अर्थ और लागू किए जाने के बारे में वास्तविकता को बाइबल से देखा और समझा है, कि प्रभु ने ये वाक्यांश हर किसी की हर तरह की प्रार्थना के लिए नहीं कहे थे। वरन इन्हें प्रभु ने अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों की उन प्रार्थनाओं के लिए कहा था जो वे परमेश्वर की इच्छा में तथा वचन से सुसंगत बातों के लिए माँगते हैं। पिछले लेख से हमने इसी बात से सम्बन्धित वचन के एक और तथ्य पर विचार करना आरंभ किया था - प्रभु के शिष्यों द्वारा आश्चर्यकर्म करना। हमने बाइबल के हवालों से देखा था कि प्रभु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दौरान, प्रभु के शिष्य सुसमाचार प्रचार, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालना, चंगा करना, आदि केवल तब ही करने पाए थे, जब प्रभु ने उन्हें इस सेवकाई को करने की अनुमति और सामर्थ्य प्रदान की थी। इन कुछ अवसरों के अतिरिक्त, पृथ्वी की उसकी सेवकाई के शेष समय में, ये सभी अद्भुत काम प्रभु ने स्वयं ही किए थे। आज इसी विचार को, वचन में प्रभु यीशु की कही अन्य बातों के आधार पर और आगे बढ़ाते हैं।

पिछले लेख के हवालों और सन्दर्भ से यह प्रकट है कि प्रभु यीशु के वे सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्य भी, प्रभु की अनुमति और इच्छा के बाहर, अपनी मन-मर्ज़ी से उन कामों को भी नहीं कर सके थे, जिन्हें उन्होंने प्रभु के निर्देश, आज्ञाकारिता, और सामर्थ्य से किया था। इसी सन्दर्भ में प्रभु के एक और निर्देश पर ध्यान करें, अपने स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने से पहले, मत्ती 28:19-20 में प्रभु यीशु ने शिष्यों से कहा “इसलिये तुम जा कर सब जातियों के लोगों को चेला बनाओ और उन्हें पिता और पुत्र और पवित्रआत्मा के नाम से बपतिस्मा दो। और उन्हें सब बातें जो मैं ने तुम्हें आज्ञा दी है, मानना सिखाओ: और देखो, मैं जगत के अन्‍त तक सदैव तुम्हारे संग हूं।” लेकिन साथ ही प्रेरितों 1:4, 8 में प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों से यह आज्ञा भी दी कि “और उन से मिलकर उन्हें आज्ञा दी, कि यरूशलेम को न छोड़ो, परन्तु पिता की उस प्रतिज्ञा के पूरे होने की बाट जोहते रहो, जिस की चर्चा तुम मुझ से सुन चुके हो।” और “परन्तु जब पवित्र आत्मा तुम पर आएगा तब तुम सामर्थ्य पाओगे; और यरूशलेम और सारे यहूदिया और सामरिया में, और पृथ्वी की छोर तक मेरे गवाह होगे।” जैसा हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था, प्रभु के ये शिष्य, इन बातों को, प्रभु द्वारा सेवकाई पर भेजे जाने के समय कर चुके थे। किन्तु अभी, यद्यपि प्रभु ने उनके लिए यह ठहराया है कि उसके जाने के बाद उन्हें यरूशलेम से लेकर संसार के छोर तक यही काम करना है, लेकिन तुरन्त नहीं, वरन पवित्र आत्मा और उसकी सामर्थ्य को प्राप्त करने के बाद।

 

तात्पर्य प्रकट है कि पवित्र आत्मा और उसकी सामर्थ्य प्राप्त होने तक, प्रभु के उन वास्तविक शिष्यों में भी अपनी सामर्थ्य से, अपने पिछले अनुभवों के आधार पर, प्रभु द्वारा उनके लिए निर्धारित सेवकाई को करने की सामर्थ्य नहीं थी; उन्हें वह सामर्थ्य पुनः प्राप्त होने के बाद ही इस सभी को करना था। और शिष्यों ने यही किया। वे लगातार मन्दिर जाकर परमेश्वर की स्तुति करते थे (लूका 24:53), और प्रभु के अन्य शिष्यों के साथ एकत्रित होकर प्रार्थना करते रहे (प्रेरितों 1:13-15)। किन्तु उन्होंने सुसमाचार प्रचार या प्रभु के नाम में उनकी निर्धारित सेवकाई का कोई और काम तब तक नहीं किया जब तक कि पिन्तेकुस्त के दिन पवित्र आत्मा और उसकी सामर्थ्य को प्राप्त नहीं कर लिया। और उसके बाद पतरस के पहले ही प्रचार से तीन हजार भक्त यहूदियों ने उद्धार पाया, शिष्य निडर होकर प्रचार करने लगे, आश्चर्यकर्म करने लगे। उनके विरुद्ध भीषण सताव और विरोध के बावजूद मसीही विश्वासियों तथा कलीसियाओं की सँख्या बढ़ती चली गई; और थोड़े ही समय में, उन्हें “ये लोग जिन्होंने जगत को उलटा पुलटा कर दिया है” कहा जाने लगा (प्रेरितों 17:6)।

हमारे इस वर्तमान अध्ययन के विषय के सन्दर्भ में, प्रश्न उठता है कि जब ये शिष्य पहले भी यही सब कार्य, प्रभु द्वारा सेवकाई पर भेजे जाने के समय कर चुके थे, तो फिर प्रभु के स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने के बाद, पवित्र आत्मा के उनपर उतरने तक, उन्हीं कार्यों को फिर से करने के लिए उन्हें प्रतीक्षा क्यों करनी पड़ी? इस बात को तथा प्रेरितों द्वारा किए जाने वाले आश्चर्यकर्मों पर हम अगले लेख में विचार करेंगे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (17)

To be continually joined with God in prayer, i.e., to keep conversing with God about everything, at all times; speak to Him about our things, and listen to what He has to say, is an essential and inseparable part of practical Christian living. It is by doing this that the Christian Believers can stay safe from being misled by Satan and falling into sin. The initial Christian Believers and the first churches continued steadfastly in four things given in Acts 2:42, of which prayer was the fourth one. For the past few articles, we have been considering about and checking out the prevalent wrong concepts and false teachings prevalent amongst the Christians about prayer from the Bible, so as to understand their correct Biblical form, application, and following them in personal lives. In this context, presently we are considering and learning about asking prayers “in faith” and asking them “in the name of Jesus.” We have seen the actual meaning and application of these two phrases from the Bible, that the Lord had not said these phrases about any kind of prayer made by anyone. Rather, the Lord had spoken them for those prayers made by His true, surrendered, and obedient disciples, which were in the will of God and consistent with the Word of God. From the last article we have started to consider another related fact from the Bible - the disciples of the Lord doing miracles. We saw through references from the Bible, that during the earthly ministry of the Lord, the disciples of the Lord could do the gospel preaching, casting out evil spirits, healings, etc., only when the Lord had given them the permission and power to do these things. Except for these few occasions when the disciples did them, during His earthly ministry, it was the Lord who had done these things Himself. Today we will look further about this on the basis of what the Lord has said in His Word.

On the basis of the references and context mentioned in the previous article, it is evident that those true, surrendered, and obedient disciples of the Lord, could not do on their own and outside of the will and permission of the Lord, even the things they had done in obedience to the Lord after being instructed and empowered by Him. In this context, take note of another instruction given by the Lord. At the time of His ascension to heaven, the Lord had instructed His disciples in Matthew 28:19-20 “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.” Along with this, the Lord had also instructed in Acts 1:4, 8 that “And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, "which," He said, "you have heard from Me;” and “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth."” As we have seen in the previous article, these disciples of the Lord had already done these things, when the Lord had sent them out for ministry. But now, although the Lord had kept it for them that after He had gone, they had to go and do it again from Jerusalem to the end of the earth, but not immediately; only after receiving the Holy Spirit and His power.

The implication is evident, till they had received the Holy Spirit and His power, even those true disciples of the Lord, on the basis of their earlier experiences, did not have the power to do their Lord assigned ministry. They were to go and do the assigned ministry only after they had received the power once again. And that is what the disciples did. They continually went to the Temple to praise and worship God (Luke 24:53), and they gathered with the other disciples to pray (Acts 1:13-15). But they neither preached the gospel, nor did anything else related to their ministry, till on the day of Pentecost, they received the Holy Spirit and His power. Once that happened, with the first sermon Peter preached, three thousand devout Jews received salvation, the disciples started to preach fearlessly and do miracles. Despite severe persecution and opposition, the numbers of the Christian Believers and churches continued to increase; and within a short span of time, they were being called “These who have turned the world upside down” (Acts 17:6).

In context of our current study, a question that arises is, when these disciples had already done these same things earlier, when the Lord had sent them for their ministry, then after the ascension of the Lord to heaven, why did they have to wait to do them, till they received the Holy Spirit and His power? We will look into it and about the miracles done by the Apostles, in the next article.

Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

प्रार्थना व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन का एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण और अभिन्न अँग है। प्रेरितों 2:42 में दी गई व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन से सम्बन्धित चार बातों में से एक प्रार्थना भी है। हमने देखा है कि प्रथम कलीसिया के आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी इन चारों बातों में लौलीन रहा करता थे। इसी कारण वे अपने आत्मिक जीवन और मसीही विश्वास में उन्नत होते चले गए, हर परिस्थिति का सामना करते हुए विश्वास में दृढ़ बने रहे, और कलीसियाएं बढ़ती चली गईं। पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि इन चारों बातों का, मसीहियों द्वारा उनके प्राथमिक स्वरूप में, लौलीन होकर पालन न करने; बल्कि एक औपचारिकता के समान उनका निर्वाह करने के कारण मसीही समाज में इन चारों के प्रति न केवल उदासीनता आ गई है, बल्कि बहुत सी गलतफहमियाँ और गलत शिक्षाएं भी घर कर चुकी हैं। हमारे वर्तमान विषय प्रार्थना से सम्बन्धित इन गलतफहमियों और गलत शिक्षाओं में से कुछ को हमने पिछले लेखों में देखा है।

 

इन गलत धारणाओं और गलत शिक्षाओं में से दो प्रमुख हैं, जिनके आधार पर अन्य गलत शिक्षाओं और धारणाओं का प्रचार और प्रसार किया जाता है। इन दो में से पहली यह है कि प्रार्थना करना केवल परमेश्वर से माँगना, कुछ करने के लिए कहना, उससे कुछ-न-कुछ लेते रहना, और परमेश्वर को अपनी सुविधाओं एवं इच्छाओं की पूर्ति के लिए प्रयोग करना है। जबकि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल की शिक्षा है कि प्रार्थना परमेश्वर से बातचीत करना है; उससे अपनी कहना, और उसकी सुनना है। साथ ही परमेश्वर का निर्देश है कि उसके लोग हर समय, हर बात के लिए उसके साथ प्रार्थना, अर्थात बातचीत में लगे रहें, ताकि शैतान द्वारा बहकाए और पाप में न गिराए जाएं। इस पहली गलत धारणा को समर्थन देने के लिए दूसरी मुख्य गलत धारणा मसीहियों में व्याप्त कर दी गई है, कि “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम से” परमेश्वर से जो भी माँगा जाएगा, परमेश्वर की प्रतिज्ञा है कि वह उस प्रार्थना को अवश्य ही पूरा करेगा। हमने परमेश्वर के वचन के आधार पर देखा है कि यह गलत शिक्षा बाइबल की कुछ बातों को उनके सन्दर्भ से बाहर लेकर, उनकी गलत व्याख्या करने, उन्हें अनुचित अर्थ देने के कारण है। सत्य तो यह है कि परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में बहुत स्पष्ट लिखा है कि वह किन लोगों की, और किन बातों के बारे में प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। संक्षेप में, परमेश्वर ने यह आश्वासन अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, आज्ञाकारी शिष्यों की उन प्रार्थनाओं के लिए दिया है जो उसके वचन से सुसंगत और उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार प्रार्थनाएं माँगते हैं। यह सभी लोगों के लिए, और उनकी हर एक बात के पूरे किए जाने के लिए दिया गया आश्वासन नहीं है। अर्थात, प्रभु परमेश्वर के सच्चे, समर्पित, और आज्ञाकारी शिष्य, जब प्रभु की इच्छा जानकर, प्रभु की इच्छा में, अपने अथवा किसी और के लिए वचन की शिक्षाओं से सुसंगत प्रार्थनाएं माँगते हैं, तब परमेश्वर उन्हें पूरा करता है।

इन बातों को बाइबल के आधार पर भली-भाँति समझना, सीखना और पालन करना अनिवार्य है। अन्यथा, मसीही समाज में व्याप्त “विश्वास से” और “यीशु के नाम में” माँगी गई प्रार्थनाओं से सम्बन्धित गलत व्याख्याओं और गलत शिक्षाओं के चंगुल से निकल पाना, तथा अन्य सम्बन्धित उदाहरणों और शिक्षाओं को समझना बहुत कठिन होगा। इसी सन्दर्भ में, प्रभु यीशु की पृथ्वी की सेवकाई के दिनों में शिष्यों द्वारा किए गए कार्यों, और अपने स्वर्ग पर उठाए जाने के समय प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को दिए गए निर्देशों को देखते और समझते हैं। सुसमाचारों में प्रभु द्वारा अपने शिष्यों को सामर्थ्य देकर सेवकाई के लिए भेजने का उल्लेख है। पहला है मत्ती 10 अध्याय में, जो उसके द्वारा चुने गए बारह चेलों के लिए है “फिर उसने अपने बारह चेलों को पास बुलाकर, उन्हें अशुद्ध आत्माओं पर अधिकार दिया, कि उन्हें निकालें और सब प्रकार की बीमारियों और सब प्रकार की दुर्बलताओं को दूर करें” (मत्ती 10:1)। बारह चेलों के भेजे जाने और काम करने का वर्णन मरकुस 6:7-13 में भी मिलता है, जो सम्भवतः मत्ती 10 वाला भेजा जाना ही है। इसी प्रकार से एक अन्य समय पर प्रभु ने अपने सत्तर शिष्यों को भी भेजा था (लूका 10:1)। इन सभी वृतान्तों में हम देखते हैं कि प्रभु ने अपने शिष्यों को सुसमाचार प्रचार करने, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालने, बीमारियों को चंगा करने की सामर्थ्य देकर भेजा। और फिर हम पाते हैं कि उन शिष्यों ने प्रभु को बताया कि वे ये सभी कार्य कर सके (मरकुस 6:30; लूका 10:17)।

 

हमारे वर्तमान विषय के सन्दर्भ में और उसे समझने के लिए, अब, यहाँ पर दो बातें ध्यान देने योग्य हैं। पहली बात, प्रभु द्वारा सेवकाई के लिए शिष्यों को यह विशेष निर्देश और सामर्थ्य देने के अतिरिक्त, प्रभु के पृथ्वी पर रहने के दौरान, उसके शिष्यों ने अन्य कोई भी आश्चर्यकर्म, चंगाई, दुष्टात्माओं को निकालना कभी नहीं किया। एक बार और उन्होंने प्रभु से अनुमति माँगी कि वे कुछ विरोधियों को दण्ड दें, लेकिन प्रभु ने यह कहते हुए मना कर दिया कि उन्हें पता नहीं है कि वे किस आत्मा के हैं (लूका 9:52-55)। दूसरी बात, मरकुस 9:14-27 में हम एक दुष्टात्मा से पीड़ित लड़के के चंगा किए जाने का वृतान्त देखते हैं। यहाँ पर प्रभु, पतरस, याकूब, और यूहन्ना के साथ पर्वत पर गया हुआ था, जहाँ उसका रूपान्तरण हुआ था। शेष शिष्य नीचे थे, जब एक पिता अपने दुष्टात्मा से पीड़ित बेटे को उनके पास लाया, कि वे उसमें से दुष्टात्मा को निकाल दें। किन्तु वे शिष्य यह नहीं कर सके (मरकुस 9:18)। ये वही शिष्य थे जिन्होंने मरकुस 6 में प्रभु से निर्देश और दुष्टात्माओं को निकालने की सामर्थ्य और अधिकार पाया था, और यह किया भी था। किन्तु अब, प्रभु की अनुपस्थिति में, प्रभु की अनुमति और आज्ञा के बिना, वे इस कार्य को नहीं कर पाए; स्वयं प्रभु ने ही आकर इस कार्य को किया। अभिप्राय प्रकट है, प्रभु के शिष्य भी, प्रभु की अनुमति, आज्ञा, और इच्छा के बाहर, अपनी मन-मर्ज़ी से वह नहीं कर सकते थे, जो वे प्रभु की इच्छा और आज्ञा में होकर कर सके थे।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (16)

Prayer is a very important and inseparable part of practical Christian living. Of the four things related to practical Christian living given in Acts 2:42, prayer is one of them. We have seen that the initial Christian Believers of the first Church, steadfastly observed these four things. Therefore, despite facing all kinds of situations, they continued to grow in their Christian faith and spiritual lives, and the churches continued to grow. We have seen in the earlier articles that because the Christian Believers have stopped observing these four things in their original form and steadfastly; instead, have started to do them as a ritual merely to fulfill a formality. Therefore, amongst the Christians, not only an indifference towards them has come in and settled, but many false notions and wrong teachings have also taken root. We have seen some of these false notions and wrong teachings related to our present topic i.e., prayer in the previous articles.

Of these false notions and wrong teachings, two are main ones, and based upon them the other wrong teachings and false notions are preached and taught. Of these two, the first one is that to pray is to only ask something from God, to ask Him to do something, to keep receiving things from Him, and to keep using God to provide for our conveniences and desires. Whereas, God’s Word, the Bible teaches that to pray is to converse with God; to share with Him about ourselves, and listen to what He has to say. Moreover, it is God’s instruction that His people should continually be joined with Him in prayer, about everything, and at all times, so Satan would not be able to mislead us and make us fall in sin. To complement this first wrong main concept, a second wrong main concept has been widely spread and strongly rooted amongst the Christians, that it is God’s promise that He will fulfill all prayers made to Him “in faith” and in “the name of Jesus.” We have seen from God’s Word that this wrong teaching is based on taking somethings from the Bible out of their context, then misinterpreting them, and applying incorrect meanings to them. The truth is that it is very clearly written by God in His Word, whose prayers and what kind of prayers He will answer in the affirmative. In brief, God has given this assurance only for the prayers of His true, surrendered, and committed disciples, who ask prayers consistent with His Word, and in His will. This assurance has not been given for whatever prayers anyone might ask of God, expecting God to fulfill all that they ask for. In other words, if the true, surrendered, and obedient disciples of the Lord, knowing the will of God, when they ask for things that are in accordance with the Word of God for themselves or others, then God fulfills them.

It is very essential to Biblically understand, learn, and follow these things. Else, it will be very difficult to come out of the clutches of the misinterpretations and wrong teachings widely prevalent amongst the Christians about asking “in faith” and “in the name of Jesus.” in this context, let us look at the works done by the Lord’s disciples during His time of ministry of earth, and the instructions the Lord gave at the time of His ascension to heaven. The Gospels mention the Lord sending His disciples for ministry. One account is in Matthew chapter 10, which is about His sending the twelve disciples “And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease” (Matthew 10:1). An account of the twelve disciples being sent for ministry is also given in Mark 6:7-13, which quite likely is the same as given in Matthew 10. Similarly, at another time the Lord had also sent seventy of His disciples for ministry (Luke 10:1) in all these accounts we see that the Lord gave the power to preach the gospel, cast out evil spirits, heal the sick. Then we see that the disciples came back and told the Lord that they could do all these things (Mark 6:30; Luke 10:17).

In context of our current topic and to understand it, now there are two things to be noted in this. The first thing is that other than the disciples working under these special instructions and power, during the time the Lord was on the earth, the Lord’s disciples never did any miracles, healings, or casting out evil spirits. Once, they asked the Lord’s permission to punish some opponents, but were rebuked by the Lord for it, and the Lord said that they did not understand the Spirit they were of (Luke 9:52-55). The second thing, in Mark 9:14-27 we have an account of a father bringing his demon-possessed child being healed. Here, the Lord, Peter, James, and John had gone up on a mountain, where He was transfigured. The remaining disciples were below, and a father brought his demon-possessed son to them, that they should cast out the evil spirit from him. But the disciples could not do it (Mark 9:18). These were the same disciples, who in Mark 6 had received the instructions, power, and authority from the Lord to cast out evil spirits and had cast them out too. But now, in the absence of the Lord, without the permission and order from the Lord, they were unable to do it; it was the Lord who did it after coming down from the mountain. The implication is evident, even the disciples of the Lord, without the permission, order, and knowing the will of the Lord, on their own accord, could not do, what they had done in the will of the Lord, under His orders.

Now, in this context, before His ascension to heaven, the Lord had given another instruction. We will see and consider it and its implications in the next article.

प्रार्थना करना, व्यावहारिक मसीही जीवन का एक अभिन्न अँग है, और हम प्रेरितों 2:42 से देखते हैं कि प्रार्थना करना उन चार बातों में से एक है, आरम्भिक मसीही विश्वासी जिन का लौलीन होकर पालन किया करते थे। किन्तु आज, जैसे मसीही विश्वास से सम्बन्धित सभी बातों के साथ हुआ है, प्रार्थना के बारे में भी बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाएं और भ्रांतियाँ मसीहियों में घुस आई हैं। ऐसा होने का मुख्य कारण है मसीहियों के द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन का व्यक्तिगत अध्ययन करना छोड़ देना। जो वचन पढ़ते भी हैं, वचन के अध्ययन के स्थान पर उनमें से अधिकाँश लोग केवल औपचारिकता पूरी करने के लिए वचन का थोड़ा सा भाग पढ़ लेते हैं। वचन की शिक्षा के लिए लगभग सभी मसीही, पादरियों, कलीसिया के अगुवों, और प्रचारकों की कही बातों को, बिना वचन से जाँचे हुए, अन्ध-विश्वास के साथ स्वीकार कर लेते हैं। परिणाम स्वरूप, शैतान को हर बात के बारे में बहुत सी गलत शिक्षाओं और मानवीय व्याख्याओं तथा धारणाओं को घुसा देने का खुला द्वार मिल गया है, और वह इसका भरपूरी से उपयोग कर रहा है। इसीलिए, जैसे हमने पिछले लेखों में अन्य विषयों के लिए किया था, हम प्रार्थना के बारे में भी वचन में दी गई बातों से सीख रहे हैं, गलत शिक्षाओं तथा भ्रांतियों को पहचानने का प्रयास कर रहे हैं। हम देख चुके हैं कि प्रार्थना क्या है, और क्यों परमेश्वर चाहता है कि उसके लोग उसके साथ निरन्तर प्रार्थना में लगे रहें। हमने यह भी देखा है कि एक आम गलत व्याख्या और प्रचलित शिक्षा के विपरीत, परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में यह प्रतिज्ञा नहीं की है कि वह हर किसी की “विश्वास से” माँगी हुई सभी प्रार्थनाओं सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। वरन परमेश्वर ने यह स्पष्ट लिखा है कि वह किन लोगों की और कैसी प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देगा। पिछले लेख में हमने इसी से सम्बन्धित एक अन्य गलत व्याख्या और शिक्षा की वास्तविकता को वचन से समझा था कि “यीशु के नाम में” माँगी गई प्रार्थनाओं को परमेश्वर हमेशा ही पूरा करेगा। इन सभी बातों के बारे में विचार करते हुए, हमने देखा है कि परमेश्वर अपने वास्तव में नया-जन्म पाए हुए और समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, अर्थात, उसके परिवार के सदस्यों की उन प्रार्थनाओं का सकारात्मक उत्तर देता है, जो वे उसके वचन से सुसंगत तथा उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार माँगते हैं। आज इसी बात को और अधिक स्पष्ट करने के लिए हम यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में इस सम्बन्ध में प्रभु द्वारा कही गई कुछ बातों को देखेंगे, उनपर विचार करेंगे।

 

पिछले लेखों में हमने देखा है कि प्रभु यीशु ने यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में बारम्बार अपने शिष्यों से कहा है कि उसके नाम में वे जो भी पिता परमेश्वर से माँगेंगे, उसे वह पूरा करेगा। यही बात प्रभु ने यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में भी कही है, और बहुधा इसे लेकर यह बताया और सिखाया जाता है कि यह सभी के लिए मान्य प्रभु की प्रतिज्ञा है। हम पिछले लेख में “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” पर विचार करते हुए, यह समझ चुके हैं कि प्रभु ने यह प्रतिज्ञा केवल अपने आज्ञाकारी, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों को ही दी थी। और जिस समय प्रभु ने यह कहा था, तब तक यहूदा इस्करियोती उन्हें छोड़ कर जा चुका था। तात्पर्य यह कि प्रभु की यह प्रतिज्ञा अपने आप को प्रभु का शिष्य कहने वाले हर किसी जन के लिए नहीं थी, केवल वास्तविक और सच्चे शिष्यों के लिए थी। यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय से इसके बारे में देखने से हमारे सामने इस प्रतिज्ञा के विषय कुछ और महत्वपूर्ण तथ्य भी सामने आते हैं। साथ ही यह भी स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि प्रभु की यह प्रतिज्ञा “सशर्त” थी, उन सच्चे, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों के लिए भी; यह कभी भी, कैसे भी उपयोग करने के लिए नहीं थी। चलिए, यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में इस प्रतिज्ञा से सम्बन्धित पदों को देखते हैं। 

• यूहन्ना 15:4-5 “तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मैं तुम में: जैसे डाली यदि दाखलता में बनी न रहे, तो अपने आप से नहीं फल सकती, वैसे ही तुम भी यदि मुझ में बने न रहो तो नहीं फल सकते। मैं दाखलता हूं: तुम डालियां हो; जो मुझ में बना रहता है, और मैं उस में, वह बहुत फल फलता है, क्योंकि मुझ से अलग हो कर तुम कुछ भी नहीं कर सकते।” प्रभु की सामर्थ्य से कुछ करने, “फल लाने” के लिए पहली शर्त है, प्रभु के सच्चे शिष्यों का भी हमेशा प्रभु के साथ बने रहना, उससे जुड़े रहना। अर्थात प्रार्थना में, वचन में, आज्ञाकारिता में (1 यूहन्ना 2:3-6) हमेशा प्रभु के साथ जुड़े रहना। यदा-कदा, केवल सुविधा और आवश्यकतानुसार ही प्रभु से जुड़ने वाले शिष्य प्रभु के लिए फलवन्त नहीं हो सकते हैं। 

• यूहन्ना 15:7 “यदि तुम मुझ में बने रहो, और मेरी बातें तुम में बनी रहें तो जो चाहो मांगो और वह तुम्हारे लिये हो जाएगा।” उपरोक्त शर्त की पुष्टि इस पद की शर्त से हो जाती है। प्रभु ने अपने उन सच्चे, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों से यहाँ पर स्पष्ट कहा है कि यदि वे प्रभु में बने रहेंगे, और प्रभु की बातें उनमें बनी रहेंगी, तब ही उनकी प्रार्थना में माँगी गई बातें पूरी होंगी।

• यूहन्ना 15:10 “यदि तुम मेरी आज्ञाओं को मानोगे, तो मेरे प्रेम में बने रहोगे: जैसा कि मैं ने अपने पिता की आज्ञाओं को माना है, और उसके प्रेम में बना रहता हूं।” प्रभु के ये वास्तविक शिष्य प्रभु के प्रेम में तब ही बने रह सकते हैं, जब वे प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहें। अर्थात, जब प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी रहेंगे, तो प्रभु से जुड़े रहेंगे, और जब जुड़े रहेंगे, तो परमेश्वर उनकी प्रार्थनाओं को सुनेगा और पूरा भी करेगा।

• यूहन्ना 15:16 “तुम ने मुझे नहीं चुना परन्तु मैं ने तुम्हें चुना है और तुम्हें ठहराया ताकि तुम जा कर फल लाओ; और तुम्हारा फल बना रहे, कि तुम मेरे नाम से जो कुछ पिता से मांगो, वह तुम्हें दे।” प्रभु से, और प्रभु के नाम में पिता से माँगने का अधिकार उन्हीं का है जो प्रभु द्वारा चुने और ठहराए हुए हैं, जो प्रभु के लिए फलवन्त होते हैं। और जैसा ऊपर देखा है, यह फलवन्त होना, वास्तविक शिष्यों के प्रभु के आज्ञाकारी होने पर निर्भर है।

• यूहन्ना 15:19 “यदि तुम संसार के होते, तो संसार अपनों से प्रीति रखता, परन्तु इस कारण कि तुम संसार के नहीं, वरन मैं ने तुम्हें संसार में से चुन लिया है इसी लिये संसार तुम से बैर रखता है।” जो प्रभु के चुने हुए हैं, वे प्रभु द्वारा संसार से अलग भी किए गए हैं। जिसकी पहचान है कि संसार और संसार के लोग, जैसे प्रभु से, वैसे ही उनसे भी बैर रखते हैं। तात्पर्य स्पष्ट है, जिनमें संसार और सांसारिकता की बातें हैं, जो संसार से और संसार जिन से प्रेम करता है, वे प्रभु के जन नहीं हैं (1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17)। इसलिए “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” का आश्वासन उन लोगों के लिए नहीं है।

अर्थात, यूहन्ना 15 अध्याय में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा अपने सच्चे, समर्पित, प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों से कही गई बातें स्पष्ट कर देती हैं कि “यीशु के नाम में माँगने” की प्रतिज्ञा हर किसी के लिए नहीं है, केवल प्रभु के सच्चे, समर्पित, और प्रतिबद्ध शिष्यों के लिए है। और वह भी तब, जब वे उसके साथ जुड़े रहें, उसके आज्ञाकारी बने रहें। अगले लेख में हम “विश्वास से” प्रभु से माँगने के कुछ और उदाहरणों को परमेश्वर के वचन से देखेंगे और समझेंगे।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

The Four Pillars of Christian Living - 4 - Prayer (15)

Praying is an integral part of practical Christian living, and we see from Acts 2:42 that it is one of those four things that the initial Christian Believers observed steadfastly. But today, as has happened with everything associated with the Christian faith, many wrong teachings and misconceptions have come in amongst the Christians. The main reason for this is the Christians having given up studying God’s Word for themselves. Those who do read the Word, instead of studying the Word, they read a small portion, usually just to fulfill a formality. For teachings from God’s Word, practically all Christians depend on whatever the Pastors, Church Elders, and the Preachers tell them; and they blindly accept whatever they say without cross-checking and verifying whatever is taught. Consequently, Satan has an open door for him to bring in many wrong teachings, human interpretations, and notions, and he is making full use of this opportunity. That is why, as we have done in the previous articles about other topics, about ‘praying’ too we are studying from God’s Word, seeing what is written in God’s Word, to recognize and understand the wrong teachings and the misconceptions. We have seen what prayer actually is, and why God wants His people to constantly be praying to Him. We have also seen that contrary to a popular and prevalent notion, God has not promised in His Word that He will answer every prayer made to Him “in faith” in affirmative. Rather, God has very clearly written whose prayers and what kinds of prayers He will answer in the affirmative. In the last article we had seen and understood about another related misinterpretation and misconception that God will always answer in the affirmative the prayers made using the phrase “asking in Jesus’ name.” While considering all these things, we have seen that God only answers in the affirmative the prayers made by those of His truly Born-Again children who are fully committed and surrendered to Him, and those of their prayers that are consistent with His Word and in accordance with His will. Today, to further clarify this, we will see from John chapter 15 some things said by the Lord, and ponder over them.

In the preceding articles we have seen that the Lord has repeatedly said to His disciples in John chapters 14 to 16 that whatever they ask Father God in His name, God will fulfill it. The same thing, the Lord has also said in John chapter 15, and often this is taken to preach and teach that this is a promise by the Lord, given to and applicable for everyone. In the previous article, while learning about “asking in the name of Jesus” we have seen and understood that the Lord has given this promise only to His obedient, surrendered, and committed disciples. At the time when the Lord had said this promise, Judas Iscariot had already left them and gone away. The implication is that this promise by the Lord was not meant for anyone who calls himself a disciple of the Lord, but only for the true and actual disciples. On seeing this from John 15, some important facts related to this promise come up before us. Moreover, it also becomes clear to us that this promise of the Lord is “conditional,” even for those true, surrendered, and committed disciples of the Lord; it was never meant to be used casually and in any manner by them. Let us see the verses related to this promise from John 15.

• John 15:4-5 “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” The first condition to doing something through the Lord’s power, being “fruitful” for Him is to abide in Him. The true disciples of the Lord have to remain constantly connected to Him, abiding in Him; in prayer, in the Word, in obedience (1 John 2:3-6). Those disciples who connect to the Lord off and on, only as per their convenience or only for their needs, cannot be fruitful for the Lord.

• John 15:7 “If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.” The condition of the aforementioned verses is affirmed by this verse. The Lord has made clear to His true, surrendered, and committed disciples that only when they abide in the Lord, and the Lord’s Word abides in them, will God listen and fulfill their prayers.

• John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.” These true disciples of the Lord can abide in the Lord’s love by staying obedient to Him. In other words, when they are obedient to the Lord, they will abide in Him, and when they abide in Him, then God will listen and fulfill their prayers. 

• John 15:16 “You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.” The right to ask the Lord, ask God the Father belongs to those who are chosen and appointed by the Lord, those who “bear fruit" for Him. And as we have seen above, this “bearing fruit” is only possible for the true disciples by being obedient to the Lord.

• John 15:19 “If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” Those who have been chosen by the Lord, they have also been separated out from the world by the Lord. This is proved by the world and the people of the world hating them just as they hated the Lord. The implication is evident, those who have the world and the things of the world in them, those who love the world and whom the world loves, they are not the people of the Lord (1 John 2:15-17). Therefore, the assurance of “asking in the name of Jesus” is not for them.

In other words, the things that the Lord Jesus has said to His true, surrendered, committed disciples, make it very clear that the promise of “asking in the name of Jesus” is not for everyone, only for His true, surrendered, committed disciples. And that too when they abide in Him and remain obedient to Him. In the next article we will look at and understand some other examples of “asking in faith” from the Lord.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
