परमेश्वर के वचन में फेर-बदल – 8

 

    परमेश्वर के वचन का भण्डारी होने की अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह में उस से चूक करवाने के लिए शैतान ने मसीही विश्वासियों के विरुद्ध जो युक्तियाँ बनाई हैं, हमने उन में से तीन पिछले लेख में देखी थीं। ये थीं: पहली, लोगों को इस लालच में डालकर बहकाना कि यदि वे उसके कहे के अनुसार करेंगे तो बहुत लाभ पाएँगे, किन्तु वास्तविक दुष्परिणामों से अनभिज्ञ रखना; दूसरी, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि को भरमा कर उनसे बाइबल के लेखों को बाइबल के विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ दुरुपयोग करवाना; और तीसरा, मनुष्य की इस प्रवृत्ति का कि जो आकर्षक और रोचक दिखता है, तर्कपूर्ण होता है उसको स्वीकार करना और उसका पालन करना, परमेश्वर के निर्देशों के अनुसार नहीं बल्कि अपनी ही समझ और बुद्धि के अनुसार कार्य करना; इनके द्वारा शैतान विश्वासियों से भी परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता करवाता रहता है।

    हर तरह के ईसाइयों या मसीहियों में एक बहुत हानिकारक आदत सामान्यतः और सार्वजनिक रीति से पाई जाती है, और यह आदत शैतान के लिए अपनी न केवल उपरोक्त तीनों युक्तियों को, वरन हर एक युक्ति को सफलता से लागू करने में बहुत सहायक रहती है। यह हानिकारक आदत है परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल से दूर रहना, या फिर बहुत हुआ तो थोड़ा सा समय निकालकर या तो उसे हलके में बस यूं ही पढ़ अथवा सुन लेना, या फिर लापरवाही से अथवा एक औपचारिकता निभाने के लिए यह करना; जबकि लोगों का मुख्य समय और उद्यम सँसार की बातों और कार्यों के लिए होता है, उन के लिए जो अन्ततः नष्ट होने ही वाली हैं। और इसीलिए लोग तथा विश्वासी शैतान की युक्तियों में सरलता से फंसते और गिरते रहते हैं, शैतान को उन्हें बहका कर हानि और नाश में ले जाने में कोई दिक्कत नहीं होती है (यशायाह 5:13; होशे 4:6)। बहुत ही कम ऐसे मसीही होते हैं जो अपने जीवनों में परमेश्वर के वचन को उसकी उचित प्राथमिकता, प्रधानता, और आज्ञाकारिता देते हैं।

    मसीहियत में, शैतान ने उपरोक्त तीनों युक्तियों का बहुत सफल उपयोग किया है, और करता चला आ रहा है। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि अधिकांश मसीहियों में न तो यह क्षमता है, और न ही यह परवाह है कि उन्हें जो प्रस्तुत किया जाता है उसमें सत्य और असत्य में भिन्नता को कर सकें या पहचान सकें। परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग, अर्थात, बाइबल के सही लेखों का बाइबल के विपरीत उपयोग, शैतान बहुत चतुराई और चालाकी से करवाता है। वह बड़े चुपके से, उन्हें इस बात का एहसास भी न होने देने के साथ कि उन्हें गलती के लिए उपयोग किया जा रहा है, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि को भरमा कर उनसे बाइबल के लेखों को बाइबल के विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ प्रस्तुत करवाता है। आइए देखते हैं कि शैतान किस तरह से परमेश्वर के इन भक्त लोगों को ही परमेश्वर के लोगों को उनके उद्धार के बारे में बहकाने और भरमाने, तथा उद्धार के जीवन को जीने के लिए उन्हें परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर भरोसा रखने की बजाए उनके अपने ही कर्मों पर भरोसा रखने के व्यर्थ जाल में फँसा लेता है।

    

    मसीहियों में परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही होने, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने, और इस पार्थिव जीवन की समाप्ति पर परमेश्वर के साथ स्वर्ग में होने के बारे में दो बहुत प्रचलित, और सामान्य किन्तु बहुत गलत धारणाएँ व्याप्त हैं। एक है कि यह भले होने तथा भले काम करने के द्वारा किया जा सकता है; और दूसरी है कि यदि व्यक्ति भले होने तथा भले काम करने के द्वारा धार्मिकता की जीवन-शैली बनाकर नहीं रखे, तो वह अपने इस विशेषाधिकार को, जो उसने प्राप्त किया है, खो देगा। यह बहुत दुर्भाग्य की बात है कि इन दोनों गलत, बाइबल के विपरीत धारणाओं की कलीसिया, मण्डली, तथा मसीहियों में उपस्थिति होने, उनके बने रहने, प्रसार होते रहने में, अनजाने में अथवा जान बूझकर, परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि का बहुत प्रमुख और महत्वपूर्ण योगदान है। इसे लागू करने की शैतान की युक्ति को समझने के लिए, हम पहले बहुत संक्षेप में, यह देख और समझ लेते हैं कि बचाए जाने, नया-जन्म या उद्धार पाने, मसीही होने का क्या अर्थ और अभिप्राय है। यह अपने आप में एक सम्पूर्ण विषय है जिसे पहले के लेखों में विस्तार के साथ लिखा जा चुका है। लेकिन बहुत संक्षेप में, इस से संबंधित प्रासंगिक बाइबल की शिक्षाएँ हैं:

·        एक सच्चा मसीही, सच में प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य होता है (मत्ती 28:19-20; प्रेरितों 11:26)।

·        बाइबल के अनुसार मसीहियत न तो कभी कोई धर्म थी, और न है, बल्कि यह हमेशा से ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास का जीवन जीना, उसे अपना जीवन समर्पण करना, और उस ही का अनुसरण करना रही है। जो प्रभु यीशु का अनुसरण करते थे, मसीहियत के आरम्भ में, उन्हें “पन्थ / मार्ग के लोग” कहा जाता था (प्रेरितों 9:2; 19:23; 22:4; 24:14, 22)।

·        मसीही विश्वास कभी भी वंशागत नहीं होता है; कभी भी, कोई भी, स्वाभाविक जन्म से “मसीही” नहीं होता है। हर किसी को, उन्हें भी जो बहुत धार्मिक हैं तथा पवित्र शास्त्र के बहुत ज्ञाता हैं, जैसे कि निकुदेमुस, को भी परमेश्वर का राज्य देखने और उस में प्रवेश करने के लिए नया जन्म प्राप्त करना अनिवार्य है (यूहन्ना 3:3, 5)। और किसी भी तरीके से यह संभव नहीं है, किन्हीं रीतियों, परम्पराओं, नियमों, या पर्वों को मानने अथवा मनाने से भी नहीं। बाइबल के अनुसार नया जन्म पाने के अतिरिक्त परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश के लिए और कोई मार्ग नहीं है।

·        यह नया जन्म प्राप्त करना केवल विश्वास ही के द्वारा है न कि किसी प्रकार के कर्मों के द्वारा। यह केवल पापों के पश्चाताप करने और प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने से परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के द्वारा होता है, कर्मों से नहीं (रोमियों 10:8-10; इफिसियों 2:5, 8-9)।

·        कलीसिया एक समूह है, उनका “जो मसीह यीशु में पवित्र किए गए, और पवित्र होने के लिये बुलाए गए हैं; और उन सब के नाम भी जो हर जगह हमारे और अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम की प्रार्थना करते हैं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:2)। अर्थात कलीसिया कोई डिनॉमिनेशन, या मत नहीं है, और न ही उनका समूह है जो कुछ नियमों, रीतियों, और परंपराओं का निर्वाह करते हैं; बल्कि उनका जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह के प्रति पूर्णतः समर्पित और प्रतिबद्ध हैं।

·        यह वास्तविक और बाइबल के अनुरूप कलीसिया एक ही है, सार्वभौमिक है, सारे सँसार भर और अपने इतिहास में एकमात्र है, और इसे ही ‘प्रभु की देह’ तथा ‘प्रभु की दुल्हन’ कहा गया है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:12, 27; इफिसियों 5:23, 29-30)। प्रत्येक नया जन्म पाया हुआ विश्वासी व्यक्तिगत रीति प्रभु की इसी देह का एक सदस्य है।

·        केवल यही एकमात्र, सार्वभौमिक, विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया ही सँसार से स्वर्ग को उठाई जाएगी, अनंतकाल के लिए प्रभु परमेश्वर यीशु मसीह के साथ रहने के लिए। इसीलिए, हर एक के लिए जो बात सबसे महत्वपूर्ण है, वह है कि क्या वह इस कलीसिया का सदस्य है अथवा नहीं? इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है कि कौन किस डिनॉमिनेशन या मत का सदस्य है, कितनी पीढ़ियों से है, और कितने समय से है। महत्व केवल इस बात का है कि क्या आप ने नया जन्म पाया है और प्रभु की इस देह, इस दुल्हन, इस विश्वव्यापी कलीसिया के सदस्य बन गए हैं या नहीं!

 

    शैतान बाइबल के इन तथ्यों का किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के प्रमुख लोगों तथा अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि के द्वारा गलत व्याख्या करवाता है, उनका दुरुपयोग करता है, ताकि लोग परमेश्वर के सच्चे और खरे भरमाए और भटकाए जा सकें, इसे हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।   

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word – 8

 

    In considering the strategies of Satan to make a Christian Believer falter in his stewardship towards God’s Word the Bible, in the previous article, we had seen about three amongst the various strategies that Satan has devised against the Christian Believers. These were: first, enticing people through promising them great benefits through doing what he says, but hiding the actual harmful consequences; second, induce God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc., into misusing the Bible texts by giving them unBiblical meanings and implications; and third, he takes help of the human tendency of falling for something that seems appealing and logical; Satan makes Believers disobey God, by making them trust more on their own thinking and logic, than on God’s instructions.

    A very strong habit, universally and uniformly rampant amongst all varieties of Christians, immensely helps Satan in implementing not only these three, but all of his other strategies as well. This pernicious habit rampant amongst Christians is of either staying away from God’s Word the Bible, or at the most according it a little time of a casual reading or merely listening, perfunctorily, or as a formality; while their main priority for their time and efforts are the things and works of the world, that will soon perish anyway; and therefore, they remain gullible to Satan’s ploys. Therefore, it is not surprising at all that Satan can so easily misguide and mislead most Christians into loss and destruction (Isaiah 5:13; Hosea 4:6). Rare are the Christians who give God’s Word its due priority, prominence, and obedience in their lives.

    In Christendom, Satan has very successfully employed the three above-mentioned strategies, and continues to do so. This is because most Christians have neither the ability, nor the care or concern to discern the truth from the untruths that he gets presented to them. In the misuse of God’s Word – using the right Biblical texts and facts, in the wrong unBiblical way, Satan very cleverly and subtly, without their even realizing they are being misused, uses God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. Let us see how he gets these godly people to misguide God’s people about their salvation, and thereby entangle them in vain efforts of relying upon their works rather than God’s grace regarding living their life of salvation.

    There are two very common but very wrong notions amongst the Christians regarding being right with God, being acceptable to God, and being qualified to be in heaven with God after one’s temporal life on earth comes to an end. One is that this can be achieved by being good and doing good works; the second is that if a person does not maintain a righteous life through being good and doing good, he will lose this privilege, this special status he has attained. Very unfortunately, for the presence, continuation, and propagation of these false, unBiblical notions in the Churches or Assemblies, knowingly or unknowingly, God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. have a major role to play. To understand Satan’s manipulation in implementing this, let us first understand, very briefly, what it means and implies to be saved, or Born-Again, or have salvation, and be a Christian. This is an entire subject in itself, that has been dealt with earlier in some preceding articles. But, in short, the relevant Biblical teachings are that:

·        A true Christian is a truly a disciple of Christ (Matthew 28:19-20; Acts 11:26).

·        Biblical Christianity never was and never is a religion, rather it always has been a way of life of Faith the Lord Jesus, of surrendering one’s life to Him, and following Him. Those who followed the Lord Jesus, at the beginning of Christianity, were known as ‘people of the Way’ (Acts 9:2; 19:23; 22:4; 24:14, 22).

·        The Christian Faith is never inherited; No one is ever born a ‘Christian’, by natural birth. Every one, including the most religious and those most knowledgeable about the Scriptures, e.g., Nicodemus, must be Born-Again to be able to see and enter into the Kingdom of God (John 3:3, 5). According to the Bible, nothing else, no observance or fulfilment of any rituals, traditions, rules, or festivals, nothing other than being Born-Again will ever qualify anyone to be in the Kingdom of God.

·        This, being Born-Again is by faith and not by any works of any kind. It is only by the grace of God through repentance of sins and coming to faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Romans 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:5, 8-9).

·        The Church is the collective group of “those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2); i.e., the Church is not a denomination, or sect, nor those who fulfil certain rules, rituals and traditions, but those who are completely committed and surrendered to the Lord Jesus.

·        This true and Biblical Church is one, is universal, is the same all over the world and all throughout its history, and has been called the ‘body of Christ’ and the ‘Bride of Christ’ (1 Corinthians 12:12, 27; Ephesians 5:23, 29-30). Every Born-Again Christian Believer is individually a member of this Body of Christ.

·        It is only this one universal Church, this Body and Bride of Christ which will be delivered from the world and taken up into heaven, to eternally be with the Lord God Jesus Christ. Therefore, for everyone, what matters is not whether they are members of any particular denomination or sect, nor for how many generations and for how long they have been the members, but whether or not they have been Born-Again and become a member of this Church, this Body, this Bride of Christ.

 

    How Satan misinterprets and misuses these Biblical facts to misguide people through God’s committed Believers, Church leaders and elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc. we will see in the next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि हव्वा को भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान पाने, ‘परमेश्वर के तुल्य’ हो जाने का लालच देने के द्वारा शैतान ने पहले हव्वा को और फिर उसके द्वारा आदम को पाप में गिराया था। आदम और हव्वा ने भले और बुरे में अंतर करने का ज्ञान तो पाया, किन्तु हमेशा के लिए बुराई से बचे रहने और भला ही करते रहने की क्षमता गँवा दी। वे और उनकी भावी संतान पाप के द्वारा दूषित हो गईं, और उसी समय से मनुष्य में जो उसे अच्छा लगता है वही करने तथा परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की अनाज्ञाकारिता में रहने की प्रवृत्ति भी प्राप्त कर ली। इस प्रवृत्ति के द्वारा शैतान ने उन्हें कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी बनने, ‘भले बनो भला करो’ के सिद्धान्त का पालन कर के, परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने, और स्वर्ग में रहने के योग्य हो जाने के व्यर्थ उद्यम में फँसा लिया। प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा समस्त मानव जाति के पापों के प्रायश्चित के लिए अपना बलिदान देने और परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह द्वारा प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने से मिलने वाले उद्धार का मार्ग खुल जाने के बाद शैतान के द्वारा मनुष्यों को, विशेषकर उन्हें जिन्होंने प्रभु यीशु पर विश्वास किया था, अपनी इस कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी होने की युक्ति में फँसाने को बड़ा झटका लगा।

    परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह और प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास के द्वारा पापों की क्षमा और अनन्तकालीन उद्धार प्राप्त होने के कारण, मसीही विश्वासी पर शैतान की पकड़ जाती रही। इसलिए, अपनी उस पकड़ को वापस प्राप्त करने, और मसीही विश्वासियों को परमेश्वर से, उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता से दूर खींच लेने के लिए शैतान को कुछ तरीका निकालना था। शैतान ने यह दो कार्य-विधियों को बनाने के द्वारा किया; पहले यह कि लोगों के मनों में उद्धार के अनन्तकालीन होने के बारे में गंभीर सन्देह उत्पन्न करना; और दूसरी यह कि विश्वासियों को अपने उद्धार को बनाए रखने के लिए कर्मों के द्वारा धर्मी बने रहने की आवश्यकता में भरोसा दिलाना। मसीही विश्वासियों को बहकाने और भरमाने का सर्वोत्तम और सबसे कारगर उपाय था, जिस पर विश्वासी सबसे अधिक भरोसा करते हैं उसी का दुरुपयोग करना, अर्थात बाइबल और परमेश्वर के समर्पित तथा प्रतिबद्ध लोगों का। इन कार्य-विधियों को सफलतापूर्वक लागू करने के लिए शैतान परमेश्वर के प्रतिबद्ध लोगों, कलीसिया के अगुवों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों आदि के द्वारा बाइबल के लेखों का बाइबल के विपरीत अर्थों और अभिप्रायों के साथ उपयोग करवाता रहता है। इससे प्रसारित होने वाली गलत शिक्षा और अनुचित व्याख्या के कारण विश्वासियों के मनों में कई प्रकार के सन्देह और असमंजस उत्पन्न हो जाते हैं, जिनके कारण वे परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखने और उसके वचन का आज्ञाकारी बने रहने के मार्ग से भटक जाते हैं।

    यद्यपि शैतान भली-भांति जानता है कि एक वास्तव में नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी कभी अपना उद्धार नहीं खो सकता है, लेकिन वह यह भी जानता है कि मसीही विश्वासी का परमेश्वर का अनाज्ञाकारी होना न केवल उसकी आशीषों, दोनों स्वर्गीय और भौतिक, को हानि पहुँचाएगा; वरन साथ ही उसके आत्मिक जीवन को भी कमज़ोर करेगा, और उसे सँसार के साथ समझौते का जीवन जीने वाला बना देगा। मसीही विश्वासी के इस प्रकार के दुर्बल और समझौते तथा अप्रभावी गवाही के जीवन के कारण अन्य लोग उद्धार पाने के लिए मसीह यीशु के पास आना नहीं चाहेंगे। और यह मसीही विश्वासी तथा परमेश्वर के राज्य की हानि और शैतान के लाभ की बात होगी। इसीलिए शैतान के लिए यह बहुत महत्वपूर्ण है कि वह किसी न किसी तरह से मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के मार्गों तथा वचन से भटकाए और उसे अपनी शैतानी युक्तियों में फँसा ले।

Altering God’s Word – 7

 

    In the previous article we have seen that by enticing Eve to know how to discern between good and evil, become ‘like God’, Satan first made her, and then through her, Adam also to fall in sin. Adam and Eve learnt how to discern between good and evil, but forever lost the capability of always avoiding evil and doing good. They and their progeny got tainted by sin, and since then, all men also developed the tendency of always doing what seemed right to them, of disobeying God and His Word. Through this tendency, Satan has had them trapped in the vain pursuit of becoming righteous by works, following the doctrine of ‘be good do good’ to become righteous and acceptable to God and qualify for heaven. After the Lord Jesus Christ’s sacrifice for atonement of sin of the entire mankind, and opening the way of salvation for everybody by the grace of God, through faith in Him, Satan’s ploy of entangling man, particularly those who believed in the Lord Jesus, in the vanity of righteousness by works suffered a big setback.

    Because of forgiveness of sins and eternal salvation received by God’s grace through faith in the Lord Jesus, Satan lost his hold on the Christian Believer. Therefore, to get his hold back on them, and to draw the Christian Believers away from following God and obeying His Word, Satan had to devise some means. Satan achieved this by devising two strategies; firstly, of creating serious doubts amongst them about their salvation being eternal; and secondly, to pull the Believers back into the satanic trap of staying righteous by works to maintain their salvation. The best and most effective way of misleading the Christian Believers had to be through the misuse of what they trusted upon most, the Bible and God’s committed and surrendered people. To successfully implement these strategies, Satan induces God’s committed Believers, Church elders, Bible preachers and teachers, etc., into misusing the Bible texts by giving them unBiblical meanings and implications. The resulting misinformation and misinterpretation create various doubts and confusion in the minds of Believers, and they mislead them away from trusting God and being obedient to His Word.

    Though Satan knows very well that a truly Born-Again Christian Believer will never lose his salvation, but he also knows that a Believer’s disobedience to God will not only bring harm to his blessings, both heavenly and temporal; but will also weaken his spiritual life and get him into living a life of compromising with the world. This poor witness of a Christian Believer’s life then serves to discourage others from coming to Christ Jesus for salvation. This will be a loss to the Christian Believer and God’s Kingdom and a gain for Satan. Hence it is of paramount importance for Satan to somehow get a Christian Believer to deviate from God’s ways and Word, and get entangled in Satan’s ploys.

    To accomplish this ploy, Satan has taken the help of another human tendency, of falling for something that seems appealing and logical. Satan makes Believers disobey God, by making them trust more on their own thinking and logic, than on God’s instructions. Satan had used this against Eve (Genesis 3:6); and since then, he has been using this method very successfully against mankind, to misguide and draw them away from God. The only difference is that with Eve Satan used the forbidden fruit; for the Believer’s, Satan uses the Biblical texts, being well aware that most Christians only have a very superficial and light knowledge about the Bible, and they are not actually aware of the truths and facts of God’s Word.

    The Christian Believers know some Biblical facts about sin and God. But the major problem is that since most Christians do not study God’s Word the Bible, therefore, they are unable to properly analyze the teachings and discern truth from untruth, facts from fiction. Therefore, can easily be misled, and are misled, by anyone who can forcefully, or in an appealing, or interesting and seemingly logical manner, present some Bible texts in an impressive manner. Satan takes full advantage of the fact that though many Christians may habitually or perfunctorily read the Bible, maybe even do so regularly and daily, but hardly ever will they sit down to ponder over it, meditate upon what they have read, asking God to open their eyes to see the wondrous things from His Word (Psalm 119:18). Few Christians may take the help of some Commentaries and other Bible help books to try to learn and grasp something about what they have read, and so they will either have only a bookish knowledge and understanding, or will stop doing even this after some time. But very rare are the ones who prayerfully sit down at the feet of the Lord like Mary (Luke 10:39, 42), and allow the Holy Spirit to speak to them and teach them. But yet, all of them believe they know enough of God’s Word, and therefore expect that they cannot be misguided about it. It is this very short-coming that Satan exploits to misuse Biblical texts to misguide and trap the Christian Believers into accepting and following unBiblical preaching and teachings. The preacher and teacher as well as the followers, even while being misled by Satan, remain under the deception that they are being godly and obedient to God’s Word. We will continue with this in the next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति मसीही विश्वासी के भण्डारी होने के सन्दर्भ में हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि शैतान किस प्रकार से परमेश्वर के वचन पर आक्रमण करता है, उस में फेर-बदल करवाता है, और इस प्रकार से उसे अप्रभावी और व्यर्थ मनुष्य का वचन बना देता है। हमने उल्लेख किया था कि परमेश्वर के वचन को भ्रष्ट और अप्रभावी करने के शैतान के दो मुख्य तरीके हैं। पहला मुख्य तरीका, जो कि बहुत कुटिल और अप्रत्यक्ष है, शैतान समर्पित मसीही विश्वासियों, बाइबल के शिक्षकों और प्रचारकों द्वारा बाइबल के लेख और वाक्यांश को लेकर उनको उन अर्थ और अभिप्रायों के साथ उपयोग करवाता है जो उनके लिए बाइबल में नहीं दिए गए हैं। और दूसरा मुख्य तरीका है, शैतान द्वारा बाइबल के लेखों में कुछ जोड़ देना या उस में से कुछ हटा देना, और इस तरह प्रत्यक्ष रीति से परमेश्वर के वचन के लेख में बदलाव ले आना। पिछले लेखों में हमने पहले मुख्य तरीके के तीन स्वरूपों को देखा है। गलती के ये तीनों स्वरूप सामान्यतः किए जाते हैं, लेकिन बहुधा या तो पहचाने नहीं जाते हैं, नहीं तो, यदि पहचाने भी जाएँ तो भी या तो उनकी अनदेखी कर दी जाती है, अथवा उन्हें गलती स्वीकार ही नहीं किया जाता है। ऐसा इसलिए होता है क्योंकि ये गलतियाँ, चाहे जान-बूझकर अथवा अनजाने में, कलीसिया के अगुवों, प्रमुख लोगों, बाइबल के जाने-माने प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों के द्वारा की जाती हैं, और ये लोग तथा इनके अंध-भक्त किसी गलती अथवा आलोचना को सहज ही स्वीकार नहीं करते हैं। जिन तीन स्वरूपों को हम अभी तक देख चुके हैं, वे हैं: पहला, बाइबल के सही लेख का एक गलत अर्थ और अभिप्राय के साथ उपयोग करके ऐसे सन्देश देना जो उन लेखों के लिए बाइबल में कहे ही नहीं गए हैं; दूसरा है परमेश्वर के पक्ष में तो बात को कहना, किन्तु ऐसी बातें जो परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में सही नहीं हैं या जो परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं हैं, चाहे वे परमेश्वर के प्रति आदर और श्रद्धा के साथ ही क्यों न कही गई हों; और इस गलती का तीसरा स्वरूप जिसे हमने पिछले लेख में देखा था, वह था मसीही विश्वास का जीवन जीने में मनुष्यों के द्वारा बनाए गए नियमों, विधियों, परम्पराओं आदि के निर्वाह की अनिवार्यता को बाइबल के लेखों के दुरुपयोग के द्वारा जायज़ ठहराना।

    आज से हम इस गलती के एक चौथे स्वरूप को देखना आरम्भ करेंगे, जो है बाइबल के सही लेखों का दुरुपयोग करके उनसे बाइबल के विरुद्ध ऐसी धारणा को बताना, जो लोगों को, यहाँ तक कि नया जन्म पाए हुए परमेश्वर के लोगों को भी बहका कर, उन्हें अपने कर्मों के आधार पर अपने उद्धार को बनाए रखने पर भरोसा रखने, तथा अपने भले और भक्ति के कार्यों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य बने रहने की ओर ले जाती है। यह शैतान की एक ऐसी युक्ति है जो लोगों के प्रभु परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर भरोसा रखने की बजाए, उन्हें अपने प्रयासों, योग्यताओं, और कर्मों के द्वारा परमेश्वर को ग्रहण योग्य होने पर भरोसा करवाती है। इस युक्ति का आधार अदन की वाटिका में शैतान द्वारा हव्वा से, जो उस समय निष्पाप दशा में थी, कही गयी बात है, ‘तुम भले बुरे का ज्ञान पाकर परमेश्वर के तुल्य हो जाओगे’ (उत्पत्ति 3:5)। शैतान जो हव्वा को समझा रहा था, वह था, भले और बुरे में अंतर पहचानने की क्षमता प्राप्त कर लेने के बाद तुम परमेश्वर के तुल्य हो जाओगे, और तुम में भी अपने आप को शुद्ध और पवित्र रखने के लिए क्या करना चाहिए और क्या नहीं उसकी योग्यता आ जाएगी।

    यदि शैतान का यह तर्क सही था, तो इसका अर्थ है कि मनुष्य अपने कर्मों के द्वारा अपने आप को शुद्ध और पवित्र रख सकता है, और इसलिए परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता की अनिवार्यता के बिना ही स्वर्ग जाने के योग्य बन सकता है। हव्वा शैतान के इस बहकावे में आ गई, और उसने भी पाप कर दिया, साथ ही आदम से भी करवा दिया। यद्यपि आदम और हव्वा ने भले और बुरे में पहचान करना तो सीख लिया, किन्तु उन्हें कभी भी शुद्ध पवित्र, और निष्पाप बने रहने की क्षमता प्राप्त नहीं हुई। इसकी बजाए, वे और उनके वंशज हमेशा के लिए पाप से दूषित हो गए, उन में पाप करने तथा हमेशा ही परमेश्वर की अनाज्ञाकारिता, तथा उन्हें जो सही लगता है वही करते रहने का स्वभाव आ गया। इस प्रकार से, जैसा कि सँसार तथा इस्राएल के इतिहास से प्रकट है, शैतान सरलता से मानव-जाति को कुटिलता से उपयोग करने और परमेश्वर का अनाज्ञाकारी बनाए रखने में सफल हो गया। यद्यपि उनके पास परमेश्वर की आज्ञाएं और निर्देश उपलब्ध थे, फिर भी परमेश्वर के लोगों इस्राएल के लिए भी स्थिति में कोई भिन्नता नहीं थी।

    लेकिन प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जगत का उद्धारकर्ता और छुड़ाने वाला बनकर आने के बाद शैतान के लिए समस्या खड़ी हो गई। प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा समस्त मानव जाति के पापों के लिए क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान, उनके गाड़े जाने, और मृतकों में से जी उठने के द्वारा उन सभी के लिए जो उस पर विश्वास करते हैं, उद्धार का मार्ग खुल गया। अब जो प्रभु यीशु पर और उसमें होकर मिलने वाले उद्धार पर विश्वास करता है, अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित करता है, उसके पाप क्षमा हो जाते हैं, वे परमेश्वर की सन्तान और हमेशा उसके साथ स्वर्ग में रहने वाले बन जाते हैं। इन नया जन्म और उद्धार पाए हुए लोगों को, परमेश्वर के मार्गों से भटकाने, और परमेश्वर की बजाए अपने प्रयासों पर भरोसा रखने की अपनी कुटिल युक्ति में फँसा लेने के लिए शैतान के सामने अब दोहरी समस्या है। उनके लिए शैतान की पहली समस्या है कि मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर के इस आश्वासन से कैसे भटकाए कि उसके जीवन भर के सारे पाप हमेशा के लिए क्षमा हो गए हैं और उसका उद्धार कभी नहीं जाएगा; और दूसरी समस्या है उद्धार पाए हुए मनुष्य को किस तरह से यह मानने के जाल में फँसाए कि उसे परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर नहीं परन्तु अपने भले कामों पर भरोसा रखना है, और इसके द्वारा उसे परमेश्वर की आशीषों के मार्ग से भटका दे।

    शैतान जानता है कि नया जन्म पाया हुआ मसीही विश्वासी कभी उद्धार नहीं खोएगा, हमेशा ही परमेश्वर की संतान बना रहेगा, स्वर्ग का वारिस रहेगा। लेकिन शैतान उसमें होकर और उसके साथ दो बातें करना चाहता है। एक है जहाँ तक हो सके और जितना हो सके उसकी आशीषों की हानि करे, और दूसरा, सँसार के लोगों सामने मसीही विश्वासी के गिरे हुए जीवन और गवाही के द्वारा सँसार के पापियों और अविश्वासियों में यह भावना बैठाना कि उद्धार पाने और मसीही विश्वासी बनने से कोई लाभ नहीं है, फिर भी कर्मों पर ही निर्भर रहना पड़ता है। पहली बात से मसीही विश्वासी की हानि होगी, और दूसरी से शैतान का लाभ होगा। इसे कार्यान्वित करने के लिए शैतान ने एक बड़ी चालाकी की युक्ति बनाई है, परमेश्वर के वचन के सही लेखों के दुरुपयोग के द्वारा उन्हें अनुचित अर्थ और अभिप्राय देना और विश्वासियों को गलत मार्ग पर भटका देना। इसके बारे में हम अगले लेख में देखेंगे।

Altering God’s Word – 6

 

    In a Christian Believer’s stewardship towards the Word of God, we have been seeing how Satan subtly attacks God’s Word, gets it altered, and thereby converts it into an ineffective and vain word of man. We have mentioned that of the two major forms of corrupting God’s Word, one, that is much more devious is that he very often and very subtly induces the committed Christian Believers, the Bible preachers and teachers, to preach and texts or phrases from the Bible with meanings and implications not given for those texts in the Bible. The second major form, is of Satan either adding to or subtracting from God’s Word and thereby evidently changing its text. In the previous articles, we have seen three forms of this first main error. These errors are frequently committed, but very often unrecognized, and even if recognized, still usually either ignored or unaccepted as error. This happens because these errors are often, whether knowingly or unknowingly, but commonly practiced by Church leaders, elders, reputed Bible preachers and teachers; and neither they nor their blind followers easily accept any mistakes or criticism. The three forms we have seen so far are: one is to use the right Biblical text to wrongly convey a Biblically unintended message through it; second, is to say things in favor of God, but in a manner that is not correct in the eyes of God, things that are not acceptable to God, even though they have been said reverentially and to honor Him; and the third form of this error, which we saw in the last article is, justifying the role or the necessity of some kinds of works, observance of some man-made rules, regulations, customs etc. in man’s life of salvation through misuse of Biblical texts.

    From today we will begin to see a fourth form of the misuse of correct Biblical texts, to preach and teach an unBiblical notion, designed to drive people, even the saved, the Born-Again people of God, into trusting maintaining their salvation on the basis of works, and believing that they can keep themselves justified before God through their good works, or works of godliness. This is another satanic ploy to make people believe not in the love and grace of the Lord God, but on their own efforts, abilities, and works to be, or to remain acceptable to God. The underlying basis of this ploy is what Satan had said to Eve, who was in a sinless condition, in the Garden of Eden, ‘you will be like God, knowing good and evil’ (Genesis 3:5). What Satan was implying to Eve was that you will become equivalent to God and because of knowing how to discern between good and evil, you will also have the capability of deciding what to do and what not to do in your lives to keep yourself pure and holy.

    If Satan’s contention was correct, then it means that man can keep himself pure and holy through his works, and thereby qualify for being in heaven, without the help and necessity of man’s obedience to God and His Word. Eve fell for the ploy and sinned, and also made Adam commit the same sin. Though Adam and Eve did learn to discern between good and evil, but they never got the capability of staying pure, holy and sinless. Instead, they and their posterity forever became tainted by sin, got a sinful nature, of always disobeying God and His Word, and the tendency of doing what seemed right to them in their thinking. So, as is evidenced by the history of mankind and of Israel, Satan could easily continue to manipulate mankind and make them disobey God. The situation was no different for Israel, the people of God even though God had given to them His Commandments and instructions.

But after the coming of the Lord Jesus as the redeemer and savior of mankind, Satan ran into a problem. After the Lord Jesus atoned for the sins of entire mankind through His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, being buried and being resurrected from the dead, the way of salvation was opened for everyone who believes in Him. Those who now believe on the Lord Jesus and His salvation for them, have submitted their lives to Him, their sins are forgiven, and they become children of God, to be with Him for eternity in heaven. For these Born-Again Christian Believers, Satan has a two-fold problem in making man accept his devious deviation from God’s ways, of relying on self-efforts, instead of trusting God. Satan’s first problem is, how to mislead and trap the Christian Believer’s into disregarding God’s assurance of all of his sins of his entire life-time have eternally been forgiven, and he will never loose his salvation; and second problem is how to entangle a saved man into the trap of not relying on God’s grace, but on his doing good works, and thereby deviate him away from God’s path of blessings for him.

    Satan knows that a Born-Again Christian Believer will never lose his salvation, will always remain a child of God, entitled to heaven. But there are two things that Satan wants to do to, and through the Believer; one is to harm him by losing his blessings as much as possible, and secondly, through presenting a poor life and testimony of the Believer to the people of the world, make the sinners and unbelievers not to trust on Christ Jesus for salvation and for becoming a Believer, since they will still have to rely on their works. The former will harm the Believers, and the latter will benefit Satan by corrupting and rendering ineffective the message of the Gospel. To achieve this Satan has deployed a very clever strategy through misuse of God’s Word, through using the right Biblical texts, in a Biblically unintended way; and we will look at this in the next article.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    परमेश्वर के वचन के प्रति मसीही विश्वासी के भण्डारी होने के सन्दर्भ में हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि किस प्रकार से शैतान बड़े चुपके से और चालाकी से परमेश्वर के वचन पर आक्रमण करता है, उसमें फेर-बदल करवाता है, और उसे परिवर्तित करके मनुष्य का व्यर्थ और अप्रभावी वचन बना देता है। हम उल्लेख कर चुके हैं कि शैतान न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में जोड़ने या उसमें से कुछ निकालने के द्वारा यह करता है, किन्तु यह भी कि इससे भी बढ़कर वह बड़ी कुटिलता से बहुधा समर्पित मसीही विश्वासियों, बाइबल के प्रचारकों और शिक्षकों को उकसाता है कि बाइबल के लेखों और वाक्यांशों को लेकर ऐसे अर्थ और अभिप्राय के साथ प्रचार करें जो उनके लिए बाइबल में नहीं दिए गए हैं। हमने कलीसिया के अगुवों और बाइबल के प्रचारकों तथा शिक्षकों द्वारा इस अकसर की जाने वाली गलती के दो स्वरूप देखे हैं; और यह भी देखा है कि या तो उनकी यह गलती पहचानी ही नहीं जाती है, अथवा उसकी अवहेलना की जाती है या उसे अस्वीकार कर दिया जाता है। इन दो में से पहला स्वरूप था बाइबल के लेख को सही स्वरूप में लेना किन्तु उसके द्वारा बाइबल के बाहर का गलत अर्थ और सन्देश व्यक्त करना; और दूसरा स्वरूप था परमेश्वर के पक्ष में तो बात कहना, किन्तु अनजाने में ही ऐसी बातें कहना जो या तो सही नहीं हैं, अथवा यद्यपि वे परमेश्वर की भक्ति और आदर में कही गई हैं, किन्तु परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य नहीं हैं। आज हम इस गलती के एक तीसरे स्वरूप को देखेंगे, उद्धार में मनुष्य के द्वारा किसी प्रकार के कार्यों की भूमिका को सही ठहराना।

    यह तीसरी प्रकार की गलती है, बाइबल के लेखों के द्वारा मनुष्य के उद्धार के जीवन में उसके किसी प्रकार के कार्यों की अनिवार्यता को सही ठहराना; यह उपरोक्त पहली गलती – बाइबल के सही लेख को गलत अर्थ देकर उपयोग करना से बहुत मिलता-जुलता है। उद्धार के जीवन में कुछ विशेष कर्मों को घुसाने की इस गलती को दो स्वरूपों में देखा जाता है। एक है कि मसीही विश्वास का जीवन जीने के लिए, विश्वास के साथ उस कलीसिया के बनाए हुए कुछ रीति-रिवाज़ और नियम भी निभाने होते हैं; और दूसरा है कि विश्वास के साथ ‘परमेश्वर को स्वीकार्य होने के लिए भला करो, भले बनो, अन्यथा उद्धार खोया जा सकता है’ के सिद्धान्त को भी मानना है। आज हम इन दोनों में से पहले स्वरूप को देखेंगे, अर्थात कलीसिया के रीति रिवाज़ और नियम मानने की आवश्यकता।

    इस गलती का आरंभ पहली कलीसिया के समय से ही हो गया था। हम कलीसिया के इतिहास से जानते हैं कि कलीसिया का आरंभ, जैसा प्रेरितों 2 अध्याय में दिया गया है, पतरस द्वारा यरूशलेम में पर्व मनाने आए हुए भक्त यहूदियों के मध्य किए गए प्रचार से हुआ था। सुसमाचार का आरंभिक प्रचार यरूशलेम और यहूदियों में हुआ था और उन्हीं में से उद्धार पाए हुए लोग आरंभिक कलीसिया में जुड़ते जा रहे थे। जब सुसमाचार का प्रसार हुआ, तो फिर गैर-यहूदी, अर्थात अन्य-जातीय लोग भी उद्धार पा कर कलीसियाओं में जुड़ने लगे। तब यहूदी विश्वासियों और अन्य-जाति विश्वासियों के मध्य एक विवाद उठ खड़ा हुआ – प्रेरितों 15 अध्याय देखिए। कुछ यहूदी विश्वासी इस बात के लिए बहुत ज़ोर देने लगे कि अन्य-जाति विश्वासियों को भी खतना करवाने और यहूदी परम्पराओं का पालन करना अनिवार्य है। हम पौलुस की सम्पूर्ण सेवकाई में देखते हैं कि उसे किस प्रकार से इस समस्या का अनेकों तरह से सामना करना पड़ा था, और कैसे वह बारम्बार सिखाता और डाँटता भी रहा कि सभी मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए मूसा द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था की सभी परम्पराएँ प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा पूरी करके मार्ग से हटा दी गई हैं। इसलिए अब किसी भी मसीही विश्वासी को मूसा की व्यवस्था और उसकी परम्पराओं के निर्वाह की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है (रोमियों 10:4; गलातियों 3:10-14; कुलुस्सियों 2:13-14)। उन यहूदी विश्वासियों को इस बात का एहसास करने की आवश्यकता थी कि उद्धार केवल परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के द्वारा, विश्वास और केवल विश्वास ही के द्वारा है; वह विश्वास जो प्रभु यीशु पर, जो समस्त मानव-जाति के पापों के प्रायश्चित के लिए प्रभु द्वारा कलवरी के क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान पर, और जो प्रभु के मृतकों में से फिर से जी उठने पर है। इसलिए अब किसी को भी लौट कर परमेश्वर की मूसा के द्वारा दी गई व्यवस्था और उसकी परम्पराओं पर जाने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है; यद्यपि यहूदी उसी व्यवस्था और परम्पराओं के द्वारा परमेश्वर से जुड़े हुए थे और संसार के सभी लोगों में अनुपम थे।

    हम एक बार फिर से देखते हैं कि किस प्रकार से शैतान ने पवित्र शास्त्र के लेख को लिया, और परमेश्वर के भक्त लोगों के द्वारा उसमें पवित्र शास्त्र के बाहर के अर्थ और अभिप्राय जुड़वाए, और फिर उन्हीं से परमेश्वर के लोगों तथा उद्देश्यों के विरुद्ध उसका दुरुपयोग करवाया, जबकि वे लोग अपने विचारों और मान्यताओं में यही सोच रहे थे कि वे परमेश्वर और उसके वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में सही कार्य कर रहे हैं। जैसा पौलुस ने रोमियों 3:20-22 में लिखा है, व्यवस्था कभी किसी को भी धर्मी ठहराने के लिए नहीं दी गई थी, बल्कि वह पाप की पहचान करवाने के लिए, अर्थात लोगों को यह बताने के लिए कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में पाप क्या है, दी गई थी; जबकि धर्मी होना केवल प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास करने के द्वारा ही है। इसी प्रकार से इब्रानियों का लेखक भी इब्रानियों 10:1 में वही बात कहता है जो यशायाह ने यशायाह 1:11-15 में कही थी, कि व्यवस्था के पालन से कभी भी कोई भी धर्मी नहीं ठहर सकता है, जो व्यवस्था की बातों का पालन करते हैं, वे भी परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में अशुद्ध ही रहते हैं।

    परम्पराओं, रीति-रिवाज़ों, और नियमों के पालन पर ज़ोर देना केवल उस समय, उसी युग में ही नहीं किया जाता था; बल्कि सारे ईसाई या मसीही विश्वासियों के समाज में यह आज भी बहुत मानी तथा प्रचलित बात है। प्रत्येक मसीही डिनॉमिनेशन, मत, संप्रदाय के अपने ही नियम, परम्पराएँ, रीति-रिवाज़, आदि होते हैं, और केवल वे लोग ही, जो मनुष्यों द्वारा गढ़े गए इन नियमों, परम्पराओं, और रीति-रिवाज़ों का पालन करते हैं, उस मण्डली का एक भाग हो सकते हैं, उसके लाभ ले सकते हैं। यदि कोई उनके साथ जुड़ना चाहता है, तो उसे पहले अपनी पिछली मण्डली की बातों को छोड़ना पड़ता है और फिर इस मण्डली की इन बातों को अपनाना पड़ता है, अन्यथा उन्हें उस मण्डली की “सदस्यता” और उसके लाभ नहीं दिए जाएँगे। इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता है कि इस बारे में बाइबल क्या कहती है, और जुड़ने की इच्छा रखने वाला परमेश्वर द्वारा उद्धार पाया हुआ उसके परिवार का वैध सदस्य है, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में किए गए विश्वास के द्वारा मसीह की देह और दुल्हन, अर्थात मसीह की कलीसिया का एक भाग है। यदि उन्हें उस मण्डली के साथ जुड़ना है, तो फिर उस मण्डली के रीति-रिवाज़ों, परम्पराओं, और नियमों का पालन करना ही होगा, अन्यथा वे बाहर रहें। परमेश्वर के लोगों की मण्डलियों में परमेश्वर के नहीं, मनुष्यों के बनाए हुए नियमों और रीतियों का पालन किया जाता है। साथ ही मंडलियों के अगुवों और ज़िम्मेदार लोगों का यह भी प्रयास रहता है कि मण्डली के लोगों को औरों से पृथक और बिना मेल-जोल बढ़ाए हुए रखा जाए। वे नहीं चाहते हैं कि मंडली के लोग औरों से मिलने-जुलने वाले, अन्य मसीही विश्वासियों के साथ एक होकर रहने वाले, परमेश्वर की अन्य संतानों के साथ संगति रखने वाले बनें। किसी के भी द्वारा “बाहर” के किसी भी विश्वासी के साथ मेल-जोल या संगति रखने को बल देकर मना किया जाता है, ऐसा करने के लिए उन्हें डाँटा भी जाता है। और यह सब मसीह यीशु में होकर प्रेम, क्षमा, मेल-मिलाप, और एक-मनता रखने के सुसमाचार का प्रचार करते हुए किया जाता है। और फिर इसे उचित ठहराने के लिए बाइबल के लेखों का उपयोग मन-गढ़ंत रीति से तथा एक विशिष्ट मानवीय विचार का समर्थन करने के प्रयासों के द्वारा किया जाता है – बाइबल के लेख का बाइबल के विपरीत रीति से उपयोग करना।

    यह हमारे आरम्भिक कथन की एक और पुष्टि है कि शैतान परमेश्वर के समर्पित लोगों का, बाइबल के लेखों का जानते-बूझते हुए अथवा अनजाने में दुरुपयोग करने के लिए इस्तेमाल कर सकता है और करता भी है। बहुधा, बिना उनके इस बात को समझे, शैतान मसीही विश्वासियों को फंसा कर, उन से मसीही विश्वास और जीवन के लिए अनुपयुक्त बातें करवाता और कहलवाता है; जो परमेश्वर और उसके वचन के विरुद्ध भी हो सकती हैं तथा मसीही गवाही और सुसमाचार प्रचार के लिए हानिकारक भी हो सकती हैं। लेकिन जो यह करते हैं, वे यही सोचते रहते हैं कि वे परमेश्वर के प्रति भक्ति और श्रद्धा का कार्य कर रहे हैं, परमेश्वर के प्रति अपने प्रेम और समर्पण को दिखा रहे हैं। इसीलिए वे इस व्यवहार को औरों को भी प्रचार करते हैं, इसे सिखाते हैं यह मानते हुए कि वे उन्हें सही मार्ग पर चलाने में सहायता कर रहे हैं। दुःख की बात है कि ऐसे अगुवों और उनके अनुयायियों को उनकी गलती का एहसास करवाना बहुत कठिन होता है, क्योंकि वे अपने आप को बाइबल पर ही आधारित और सही समझते रहते हैं। उन्हें इस बात के लिए कायल करना बहुत कठिन होता है कि जिसे वे परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने वाली बात समझ रहे हैं, वह वास्तव में परमेश्वर को अप्रसन्न कर रही है, क्योंकि वे परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ छेड़-छाड़ और उसके वचन में फेर-बदल कर रहे हैं, और यह परमेश्वर से प्रतिफल मिलने का नहीं, उनके विरुद्ध उसके प्रतिशोध का कारण होगा, उनके लिए भी और उनकी अनुयायियों के लिए भी। अगले लेख में हम इसी गलती के दूसरे स्वरूप के बारे में देखेंगे – उद्धार के लिए कर्मों की अनिवार्यता पर बल देना, अन्यथा उद्धार खोया जा सकता है।   

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Altering God’s Word – 5

 

    In a Christian Believer’s stewardship towards the Word of God, we have been seeing how Satan subtly attacks God’s Word, gets it altered, and thereby converts it into an ineffective and vain word of man. We have mentioned that Satan not only adds to or subtracts from God’s Word, but much more deviously, he very often and very subtly induces the committed Christian Believers, the Bible preachers and teachers, to preach and texts or phrases from the Bible with meanings and implications not given for those texts in the Bible. We have seen two forms of this frequent, but unrecognized and usually either ignored or unaccepted, error that is often inadvertently but commonly practiced by Church leaders, elders, Bible preachers and teachers. One is to use the right Biblical text to wrongly convey a Biblically unintended message through it; and the second one, which we saw in the previous article, is to say things in favor of God, but, again inadvertently, in a manner that is not correct in the eyes of God, things that are not acceptable to God though they have been said reverentially and to honor Him. We will see a third form of this error today, justifying the role of forms of some ‘works’ in salvation of man.

    This is third form of the error, of trying to justify the necessity of some kinds of works in man’s life of salvation through Biblical texts It is very similar to the first kind of error – use the right Biblical text, but ascribe wrong meanings to it. This error of inserting the necessity of certain works in the life of salvation is seen in two forms, one is that to live a life of Christian Faith, faith has to be accompanied by the fulfilling and obeying certain rituals and traditions of that Church; and the second is along with faith also accept the ‘do good and be good to be acceptable to God, or else salvation will be lost’ doctrine. Today we will consider the first form, i.e., about the necessity of following church rituals and traditions.

    This error started off with the beginning of the first Church itself. We know from the history of the Church that the Church began with the preaching of Peter in Jerusalem amongst the devout Jews gathered there to observe the Jewish feasts, as is recorded in Acts 2. The initial preaching of the gospel and the people being saved and being joined to the initial Church was from the Jews in Jerusalem. As the gospel spread, and the non-Jewish people, the Gentiles, were also saved and started to be joined to the Church. Then a contention amongst the Jewish converts and the Gentile converts arose – see Acts chapter 15. Some of the Jewish converts insisted that the Gentile converts should also be circumcised and be made to follow the Jewish customs. We see throughout Paul’s ministry, how he repeatedly had to face this problem in various forms, and how he kept teaching and admonishing that Mosaic Law and customs have been fulfilled for all Believers by the Lord Jesus, and have now been taken out of the way. Therefore, now no Christian Believer needs to do anything to fulfil the Mosaic Law and customs stated in it (Romans 10:4; Galatians 3:10-14; Colossians 2:13-14). Those Jewish converts and Believers needed to realize that salvation is by the grace of God, through faith and faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ, in in His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary to atone for the sins all of mankind, and His resurrection from the dead. Therefore, no one needs to revert back to the customs and rituals given in the Law delivered to Israel by God through Moses, although it is those God given Laws and customs that have connected the Israelites to God and made them unique amongst the people of the world.

    We once again see how Satan has taken the Scriptural text, made godly people ascribe extra-Scriptural meanings and implications to it, and then made them misuse it to make it work contrary to Gods people and purposes, while in their minds and belief they thought that they were rightly doing things in obedience to God and His Word. As Paul through the Holy Spirit says in Romans 3:20-22, the Law was never meant to justify anyone, it was meant to provide the knowledge of sin, i.e., what is sin in God’s eyes; whereas righteousness is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Similarly, the author of Hebrews says in Hebrews 10:1, what Isaiah had said in Isaiah 1:11-15, that observing the customs of the Law can never make anyone perfect, those who do them, still remain unclean in God’s eyes.

    This insistence on traditions, rituals and customs was not done just at that time, in that Church age; rather, it is rampant all over Christendom even today. Every Christian denomination, sect, and cult has its own set of rules and regulations, customs, procedures etc. and only those who adhere to these man-made, contrived laws are considered a part of that congregation and are allowed the benefits of being in that congregation. If anyone wants to join them, then they have to forego what they followed in their former denomination, or sect, or cult, and accept these laws of this denomination, sect, or cult; or else they will be denied the “membership” and benefits. It matters little, if any at all, what the Bible has to say about it all, and that they have been saved by God, are the bona fide members of God’s family, His Born-Again children by faith in the Lord Jesus, a part of Christ’s body and bride, i.e., His Church. If they have to be a part of that denomination, sect, or cult, then they have to fulfil the rites, regulations, and customs, follow the rules; or stay out and away. Man’s, not God’s rules and customs govern the congregations of God’s people; and efforts of the leaders and elders are directed at segregating and excluding from others, rather than including and assimilating, or even fellowshipping with the other children of God. Any attempts by anyone at mixing or fellowshipping with Believers from ‘outside’ are strongly discouraged and even reprimanded. Yet, all of this is done while preaching a gospel of love, forgiveness, and unity by faith in Christ, and is justified by using Biblical texts in a manner contrived to suit a particular line of thinking – i.e., using Biblical text in an unBiblical way.

    This is another Biblical affirmation of our initial statement, that Satan can and does mislead God’s committed people to knowingly or unknowingly use Biblical texts in unBiblical ways. Often, without their realizing it, Satan traps Christian Believers into doing and saying things inappropriate or unnecessary for Christian faith and life; things that may even be contrary to God and His Word, and harmful for the Christian witness, the spread of the gospel. But those who do this keep thinking that they are being godly and reverent, are expressing their love and commitment to God, and they preach and teach to others also to do the same in the belief that they are leading them on the right way. Sadly, it is very difficult to make such leaders and their followers realize and accept their error, because they firmly believe that they are Biblically correct. To convince them that what they are thinking to be pleasing to God, is actually displeasing to God because of their tampering with His Word and altering it; and it is inviting not rewards but retribution from God, for themselves as well as their followers. In the next article we will see the second form of this error – insisting on works along with salvation, or else salvation can be lost.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
