गिदोन का एपोद, अनापेक्षित फंदा कैसे बन गया?

न्यायियो 8:27 – "उनका गिदोन ने एक एपोद बनवाकर अपने ओप्रा नाम नगर में रखा; और सब इस्राएल वहां व्यभिचारिणी के समान उसके पीछे हो लिया, और वह गिदोन और उसके घराने के लिये फन्दा ठहरा।" परमेश्वर ने इस्राएलियों को उनके सताने वालों पर गिदोन के नेतृत्व में एक अद्भुत और अप्रत्याशित विजय दिलवाई थी। इस अद्भुत विजय के स्मारक के रूप में गिदोन ने वह एपोद 'अपने नगर' ओपरा में स्थापित किया। परन्तु परमेश्वर का वचन यह भी बताता है कि वह एपोद गिदोन और उसके घराने के लिए फंदा बन गया।

इस पद से ऊपर के पदों (पद 22-26) से हम देखते हैं कि गिदोन का इस्राएलियों पर प्रभुत्व अथवा नेतृत्व का कोई इरादा नहीं था। वह इस अद्भुत विजय के लिए सारा आदर और महिमा परमेश्वर यहोवा ही को देना चाहता था। उस विजय से मिली लूट में से लेकर उसने स्मारक बनवाना चाहा, वह भी लोगों द्वारा स्वेच्छा से दिए गए लूट के भाग के प्रयोग के द्वारा। गिदोन ने कोई मूर्ति या अन्यजातियों के किसी देवी-देवताओं की मूर्ति अथवा चिन्ह के द्वारा नहीं, वरन एक एपोद के द्वारा यह करना चाहा। एपोद परमेश्वर के तम्बू में सेवकाई करते समय याजकों द्वारा पहने जाने वाले विशेष वस्त्र का एक भाग होता था (निर्गमन 28:4-8), और इसे परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानने के लिए भी प्रयोग किया जाता था (1 शमूएल 30:7-8)। अतः हम देखते हैं कि किसी भी प्रकार से परमेश्वर के विमुख जाने का गिदोन का कोई इरादा नहीं था। उसकी गलती बस इतनी थी कि उसने यह कार्य, चाहे परमेश्वर को आदर और महिमा देने ही के लिए, किन्तु परमेश्वर से पूछे बिना या परमेश्वर से निर्देश पाए बिना, अपनी बुद्धि और समझ के आधार पर, जैसा उसे सही और अच्छा लगा, उसने कर दिया।

फिर हम नीचे, पद 33, 34 में देखते हैं कि कुछ समय पश्चात, गिदोन के देहांत के बाद, इस्राएलियों ने परमेश्वर को छोड़ कर अन्य देवी-देवताओं के पीछे चलना आरंभ कर दिया। पद 27 का अभिप्राय संकेत करता है कि इस्राएलियों की इस मूर्तिपूजा और परमेश्वर के स्थान पर अन्य देवी-देवताओं के पीछे हो लेने के समय में उन्होंने गिदोन के जीवित रहते हुए भी, गिदोन द्वारा बनवाए गए उस स्मारक को भी देवता समान उपासना के लिए प्रयोग करना आरंभ कर दिया, जिससे "वह गिदोन और उसके घराने के लिये फन्दा ठहरा।"

यह उदाहरण दिखता है कि शैतान, हमारे द्वारा बात को जाने-पहचाने बिना, हमारे अच्छे और परमेश्वर को आदर देने के अभिप्राय से रखे गए उद्देश्यों को भी लोगों को बहकाने और परमेश्वर के विमुख कर देने के लिए प्रयोग कर सकता है, जो फिर हमारे तथा औरों लिए आशीष का नहीं वरन ठोकर का और पाप में गिरने कारण बन सकता है। परमेश्वर की आराधना, उपासना और आदर के लिए जो कुछ आवश्यक है, परमेश्वर ने वह अपने वचन में पहले से, उससे संबंधित विवरण तथा निर्देशों के साथ लिखवा रखा है। परमेश्वर द्वारा उस लिखवाए गए के अतिरिक्त जो कुछ भी है, वह परमेश्वर से नहीं है; परमेश्वर की इच्छा के अनुसार नहीं है, और उसे चाहे जितनी श्रद्धा से माना या मनाया जाए वह, स्वयं प्रभु यीशु के शब्दों में, “व्यर्थ उपासना” (मत्ती 15:9), अर्थात निरुद्देश्य एवँ निष्फल उपासना है, या “कुकर्म” है (मत्ती 7:21-23)। इसीलिए, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए यह अनिवार्य है कि किसी भी बात में अपनी बुद्धि और समझ का सहारा कभी न लें, विशेषकर आराधना तथा उपासना से संबंधित बातों में तो कतई नहीं, परंतु हर बात के लिए परमेश्वर की इच्छा जानकर उसके अनुसार ही कार्य करें (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21); कहीं आज की हमारी कोई बात, कल हमारी ही संतानों के लिए परेशानियाँ न खड़ी कर दे। परमेश्वर को प्रसन्न करने के लिए हमें केवल परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखकर उसका पालन करना है (1 शमूएल 15:22), न कि परमेश्वर को आदर और आराधना के लिए अपने ही मनगढ़ंत तरीके बना कर उन्हें मानना या मनवाना है, जो फिर हमारे अपने तथा औरों के लिए फंदा बन जाएँ जैसा गिदोन के एपोद के द्वारा हुआ।

English Translation

How Did Gideon's Ephod Become an Inadvertent Snare?

    It says in Judges 8:27 – "Then Gideon made it into an ephod and set it up in his city, Ophrah. And all Israel played the harlot with it there. It became a snare to Gideon and to his house" God had given an extraordinary and absolutely unexpected victory to the Israelites over their oppressors through Gideon. As a memorial of his gratefulness towards the Lord, Gideon made an ephod and placed it in his home town, Ophrah. But God's Word the Bible tells us that instead, it became a snare for Gideon and his family.

    From the proceeding verses (22-26) we see that Gideon had no intentions of taking any leadership role amongst the Israelites. He wanted to give all the honor and glory to God for this marvelous victory. From the spoils of this war he wanted to set up a memorial to glorify God, that too from the voluntary portions given by the people. Gideon had no intentions of using any idol or representations of pagan gods as a memorial; rather, he wanted to do this through an ephod. An ephod was a part of the unique dress worn by the priests in the service of God's Tabernacle (Exodus 28:4-8) and it was also used to find God’s will (1 Samuel 30:7-8). Thus we see that Gideon had no intention of going contrary to God in any manner in his desire to set up a memorial honoring God. His only mistake was that although he wanted to do this to honor and glorify God, but he did it according to his own wisdom, understanding, and desire, without asking God about it and without receiving any instructions about it from God; he went ahead and did whatever seemed right and good to him according to his own understanding and desire.

    We see subsequently in, verses 33, 34 that after some time, after Gideon had passed away, the Israelites turned away from God and started following pagan gods again. It seems from verse 27 even while Gideon was alive, they started venerating the memorial set up by Gideon, using it as one of the objects of worship amongst others they had adopted from the gentile deities; because of which “It became a snare to Gideon and to his house.”

    This example shows that Satan, without our knowing about it or realizing it, can use our good and God honoring intentions to entice people away from God and make them fall into false worship, which can then become a cause for stumbling, and falling into sin, instead of being a blessing. Whatever is necessary and required for worshiping and honoring God, God has already got it recorded along with the necessary instructions in His Word. Whatever else is there besides that which God has had recorded, is not from God; it is not in God’s will, and no matter how reverently it may be believed in and observed, it is, in Lord Jesus’s own words a “vain worship” (Matthew 15:9), i.e. an inconsequential and fruitless worship, or even an act of “iniquity” (Matthew 7:21-23). Therefore it is essential for Christian Believers to not rely upon their own wisdom and understanding and act on assumptions in things related to God, more so in things related to worshiping and glorifying God, but to first seek God's will and only then act accordingly (1 Thessalonians 5:21); lest something we do today, creates problems for our children and subsequent generations. All that is required to honor and glorify God, has already been given to us by Him in His Word. To please God, we only need to learn His Word and obey it (1 Samuel 15:22), instead of devising our own assumed ways and methods of worshiping and glorifying God, and creating problems for ourselves and others, as happened through Gideon's ephod.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

बाईबल में कहाँ लिखा है कि चर्च जाना चाहिए?

प्रश्न: 

    कुछ लोग चर्च ना जाकर कहते हैं यह ज़रूरी नहीं है कि हम चर्च जाएँ; हम घर में YouTube से या इंटरनेट के माध्यम से वचन का कोई प्रचार सुन लेते हैं और अपनी प्रार्थना कर लेते हैं। चर्च जाने के स्थान पर क्या केवल यह कर लेना सही है?

उत्तर:

        इस प्रश्न का उत्तर समझने के लिए यह समझना अत्यावश्यक है कि बाइबल के अनुसार “चर्च” क्या है। मूल यूनानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद चर्च हुआ है वह है एक्क्लेसीया, जिसे हिन्दी में कलीसिया भी कहा जाता है। बाइबल के अनुसार चर्च या कलीसिया कोई भवन अथवा ईंट-पत्थर का बना भौतिक स्थान नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर के परिवार के लोगों का समूह है (1 तिमुथियुस 3:15), परमेश्वर के निवास के लिए उसका घर है (इफिसियों 2:22)। बाइबल के अनुसार कलीसिया की परिभाषा है: “परमेश्वर की उस कलीसिया के नाम जो कुरिन्थुस में है, अर्थात उन के नाम जो मसीह यीशु में पवित्र किए गए, और पवित्र होने के लिये बुलाए गए हैं; और उन सब के नाम भी जो हर जगह हमारे और अपने प्रभु यीशु मसीह के नाम की प्रार्थना करते हैं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:2)।

        जहाँ-जहाँ प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास द्वारा पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार का सुसमाचार गया, और लोगों ने इस सुसमाचार को स्वीकार किया, प्रभु के वचन और जीवन को अपने जीवन में अपनाया, वहाँ यही बात भी अपनाई गई, और लोगों के घरों में कलीसियाएं एकत्रित होने लगीं (रोमियों 16:5; 1 कुरिन्थियों 16:19; कुलुस्सियों 4:15; फिल्मोन 1:2)। अर्थात, मसीही विश्वासी के लिए इस प्रकार संगति में एकत्रित होना प्रभु की ओर से निर्धारित और आवश्यक है, प्रभु की इच्छा के अनुसार है। इब्रानियों की पत्री में हम प्रभु की ओर से निर्देश पाते हैं कि प्रभु के आने का समय जैसे-जैसे निकट आता जाए, मसीही विश्वासियों का एकत्रित होना कम न हो वरन और भी अधिक बढ़ता जाए: “और एक दूसरे के साथ इकट्ठा होना ने छोड़ें, जैसे कि कितनों की रीति है, पर एक दूसरे को समझाते रहें; और ज्यों ज्यों उस दिन को निकट आते देखो, त्यों त्यों और भी अधिक यह किया करो” (इब्रानियों 10:25)।

        इसलिए चर्च जाना कोई रस्म या परंपरा या औपचारिकता नहीं है जिसका निर्वाह ऐसे नहीं तो वैसे कर के समझ लें कि हो गया। वरन यह प्रभु के निवासस्थान में, प्रभु की उपस्थिति में आना है जिससे कि उसकी निकटता में बढ़ने, उसके वचन को सीखने, उसके परिवार का सदस्य होने के नाते उस आत्मिक परिवार के प्रति अपने दायित्व का निर्वाह किया जा सके; यह इस आत्मिक परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों की सुधि रखने तथा उनके साथ मिलकर रहने-बढ़ने का माध्यम है, तथा मसीही विश्वासी की आत्मिक उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी के लिए आवश्यक और अनिवार्य है।

        चर्च समझे जाने वाले ईंट-पत्थर के भवन में किसी भी व्यक्ति के आने और अपने उपस्थिति दर्ज करवाने की औपचारिकता निभाने से परमेश्वर को कोई सरोकार नहीं है, क्योंकि वह औपचारिकता के कर्मों तथा परंपराओं के निर्वाह से नहीं वरन अपनी आज्ञाकारिता से प्रसन्न होता है (1 शमूएल 15:22-23; अय्यूब 35:7; यशायाह 1:11-20; मलाकी 1:10), और जैसा ऊपर इब्रानियों 10:25 द्वारा दिखाया गया है, मसीही विश्वासियों का परस्पर अधिकाधिक संगति रखना प्रभु की आज्ञा है। घर में यू ट्यूब पर वचन सुन लेना और प्रार्थना कर लेना औपचारिकता का निर्वाह करना तो हो सकता है, किन्तु परस्पर संगति रखने की आज्ञा का निर्वाह कदापि नहीं हो सकता है। साथ ही जैसा प्रेरितों 2:42 में कहा गया है, मसीही विश्वासियों के लिए साथ मिलकर “रोटी तोड़ना” अर्थात पाक-अशा या प्रभु भोज में सम्मिलित होना भी घर बैठकर इंटरनेट या यू ट्यूब के माध्यम से संभव नहीं है।

        इसलिए चर्च जाना कोई रस्म या परंपरा या औपचारिकता नहीं है, वरन प्रभु की निकटता में बढ़ने, उसके वचन को सीखने, उसके परिवार का सदस्य होने के नाते उस परिवार के प्रति अपने दायित्व का निर्वाह करने, और अपने इस आत्मिक परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों की सुधि रखने तथा उनके साथ मिलकर रहने-बढ़ने का माध्यम है, मसीही विश्वासी की आत्मिक उन्नति और बढ़ोतरी के लिए आवश्यक और अनिवार्य है। इसलिए चर्च या प्रभु के घर में आना प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए प्राथमिकता होनी चाहिए और उसे उन अवसरों के लिए लालायित रहना चाहिए जब वह प्रभु के घर में जाकर प्रभु और उसकी अन्य संतानों के साथ संगति कर सके (भजन 84:1-2, 10; 122:1)। किन्तु जो केवल ‘ईसाई धर्म’ के निर्वाह की सोचते हैं, वे प्रभु की आज्ञाओं के प्रति गंभीर और संवेदनशील नहीं होते हैं, वे तो बस ‘धर्म’ की परंपराओं और औपचारिकताओं का निर्वाह मात्र करने में रुचि रखते हैं, और उसके लिए अपनी धारणाएँ बना लेते हैं और उन्हीं में फंसे रहते हैं – जो कि गलत है, बाइबल के अनुसार स्वीकार्य नहीं है।

English Translation

Where does it say in the Bible that one has to go to the Church?

Question: 

    Some people say that it is not necessary that we have to go to the Church; we listen to a message from God’s Word from You Tube or some other facility available on the Internet and say our prayers while at home. Instead of going to Church, is doing only this much correct?

Answer:

        To understand the answer to this question it is essential that we understand the meaning of the word “Church” according to the Bible. The word from the original Greek language translated as Church is ecclesia. According to the Bible the Church is not a physical building made of bricks and stones, but a gathering of the people of God’s household (1 Timothy 3:15), it is the dwelling place of God (Ephesians 2:22). The definition of the Church as given in the Bible is: “To the church of God which is at Corinth, to those who are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all who in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours” (1 Corinthians 1:2).

        At the time of the establishing of the first Church the Christian Believers regularly daily gathered together, and the purposes of their gathering together were: “And they continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers” (Acts 2:42). At that time they did this either in the place of worship or in house-holds, and it was the Lord who joined those who were saved into His Church “So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved” (Acts 2:46-47). In other words, the gathering together of the members of the ecclesia was a daily event, and its purpose was to learn the Word of God, to Fellowship together, to Pray together, to participate in the Holy Communion together, and to Worship the Lord together – and they “continued steadfastly” in this, i.e. their gathering together like this was taken very seriously, and had a great importance in their lives.

        Wherever the Gospel of salvation through faith in the Lord Jesus went, and the people accepted this Gospel, and they incorporated the Word and life of the Lord into their own lives, there this gathering together was also accepted and emulated, and Churches started to gather in the houses of the Christian Believers (Romans 16:5; 1 Corinthians 16:19; Colossians 4:15; Philemon 1:2). Therefore, it is apparent that for a Christian Believer it was expected and necessary to gather together in this manner, as something according to and in the will of the Lord. In the Epistle to the Hebrews we find another instruction from the Lord about this that as the second coming of the Lord approaches, the gathering together of the Christian Believers should not diminish but increase even more: “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching” (Hebrews 10:25).

        Hence going to the Church is not a ritual or a formality that can be fulfilled this way or another and considered as accomplished. But this is gathering in the House of God, it is coming into the presence of God so that we may increase in His nearness, learn of His Word, and being members of God’s spiritual household we need to fulfill our part and responsibility towards God’s family; and by doing so we get the opportunity to learn about and take care of the other members of our spiritual family and grow together with them, and it is also essential to ensure the spiritual growth and progress of a Christian Believer.

        The Lord is not in the least interested in every person who comes in and records his or her presence in the physical building made of bricks and stones, called as the Church, because He is not pleased with fulfilling of formalities and rituals but by obedience to Him (1 Samuel 15:22-23; Job 35:7; Isaiah 1:11-20; Malachi 1:10), and as shown from Hebrews 10:25 above, it is the Lord’s command that Christian Believers gather together more and more. Listening to a message on the You Tube and saying prayers may fulfill a formality or a ritual, but can never be seen or accepted as fellowshipping with other Believers. And, as is stated in Acts 2:42 it is not possible for Christian Believers to gather together for the “breaking of bread” i.e. participating in the Holy Communion through the You Tube.

        Therefore going to Church is not a ritual or formality, rather, because of growing in the nearness of the Lord, of learning His Word, of being a member of His family it is a way of fulfilling our responsibilities towards our spiritual family, a means of knowing, learning about and taking care of the members of our spiritual family, it is essential for the spiritual growth and progress of of a Christian Believer. Therefore it should be a priority for every Christian Believer to come to Church or the House of God and they should eagerly look forward to the opportunities to be in the House of God and fellowship with the other children of God (Psalms 84:1-2, 10; 122:1). But those who only think and care about fulfilling the requirements of the christian ‘religion’, they are not serious and sensitive towards the instructions and commandments of God, rather they are only interested in fulfilling the rituals and formalities of a ‘religion’, for which they have made their own concepts and remain entangled only in them – which Biblically is wrong, and unacceptable.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    ऐसे भी अनेकों लोग हैं जो मसीही विश्वास में आने के पश्चात, किसी कारणवश विश्वास से भटक गए, परन्तु प्रभु ने अपने वायदे (इब्रानियों 13:5) के अनुसार, उन्हें कभी छोड़ा नहीं। देर-सवेर, किसी न किसी रीति से, प्रभु उन्हें फिर विश्वास में लौटा कर ले आया, और फिर वे बहुत सामर्थी होकर प्रभु के लिए इस्तेमाल हुए, विश्वास में अपने लौट कर आने की गवाही के द्वारा वे अनेकों अन्य भटके हुए या कमज़ोर विश्वासियों के लिए प्रोत्साहन और हिम्मत का कारण बने। यदि आज के संदर्भ से देखें, तो जब प्रभु यीशु ने कलवारी के क्रूस पर समस्त सँसार के पापों का दण्ड अपने ऊपर लिया, उस समय तो हमारा कोई भौतिक अस्तित्व था ही नहीं। साथ ही बाइबल में कहीं यह नहीं लिखा है कि प्रभु ने लोगों के केवल उन ही पापों को अपने ऊपर लेकर उनके दण्ड को सहा जो लोगों ने प्रभु के पास आने – अर्थात, उद्धार पाने से पहले किए थे; और उन लोगों के उद्धार पाने के बाद के पापों का निवारण प्रभु ने उन लोगों के हाथों में, उनके द्वारा किए गए कर्मों पर छोड़ दिया – यह तो असंभव है – उद्धार का एक भाग परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह पर, और दूसरा भाग मनुष्यों के कर्मों के आधार पर कैसे हो सकता है? प्रभु ने तो प्रत्येक व्यक्ति के समस्त जीवन में किए गए समस्त पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत क्रूस पर पहले ही चुका दी है, चाहे इतिहास में उसका अस्तित्व कभी भी हो। प्रभु ने उसके पापों के दुष्परिणाम से उस व्यक्ति के अधूरे नहीं परन्तु संपूर्ण निवारण का मार्ग बना कर दे दिया है; अब किसी भी मनुष्य के लिए उद्धार का जीवन जीने के लिए कुछ भी करना शेष नहीं रहा है। जब व्यक्ति के जन्म से लेकर उसके मरण के समय तक के सभी पापों को प्रभु ने अपने ऊपर ले लिया, उनकी पूरी कीमत चुका दी, तो फिर उस व्यक्ति को स्वर्ग जाने से रोकने वाला कौन सा पाप बच गया? क्या उसके विश्वास से भटक जाने का पाप भी उसके जीवन के अन्य पापों में सम्मिलित नहीं है, जिसकी कीमत प्रभु द्वारा कलवारी के क्रूस पर चुकाई जा चुकी है? 

    और यदि यह मान लिया जाए कि व्यक्ति उद्धार पाने के बाद अपने जीवन की शुद्धता और पवित्रता, तथा निष्पाप रहने को अपने ही प्रयासों, कार्यों, और सामर्थ्य से बनाए रख सकता है, तो फिर वह यही कार्य उद्धार पाने से पहले भी कर सकता था – फिर तो प्रभु का आना न केवल व्यर्थ हो गया, वरन पापी, मरणहर मनुष्य, प्रभु परमेश्वर से भी बढ़कर हो गया! क्योंकि फिर तो मनुष्य मात्र अपने कर्मों से ही वह कर सकने की क्षमता रखता है जिसके लिए प्रभु को स्वर्ग छोड़कर धरती पर मनुष्य रूप में आना पड़ा, दुःख और अपमान सहना पड़ा, और अपनी जान देनी पड़ी – यह तो पूर्णतः असंगत और असंभव विचार है! फिर, ऐसा कौन सा उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति है जो सच्चे मन से कहा सकता है कि उद्धार पाने के बाद उससे कभी भी – शरीर, मन, ध्यान, विचार में, कोई भी पाप नहीं हुआ? प्रेरित यूहन्ना कहता है: “यदि हम कहें, कि हम में कुछ भी पाप नहीं, तो अपने आप को धोखा देते हैं: और हम में सत्य नहीं। यदि कहें कि हम ने पाप नहीं किया, तो उसे झूठा ठहराते हैं, और उसका वचन हम में नहीं है” (1 यूहन्ना 1:8, 10) – ध्यान कीजिए कि वह प्रेरित और उद्धार पाया हुआ होने के बावजूद, “हम” शब्द के प्रयोग द्वारा, अपने आप को भी पाप करने वालों में सम्मिलित कर रहा है। तो फिर अब विश्वास से भटके और न भटके हुए में क्या अन्तर रह गया? पाप विश्वास से भटकने वाले ने भी किया, और पाप उन्होंने भी किया है और करते हैं जो अभी भी विश्वास में बने हुए हैं – और क्योंकि पाप की मजदूरी मृत्यु है (रोमियों 6:23), इसलिए दोनों ही समान स्थिति में हैं, और दोनों ही अपने कैसे भी कार्यों या कर्मों के द्वारा अथवा उनके आधार पर नहीं वरन प्रभु के अनुग्रह, क्षमा, और प्रेम द्वारा ही परमेश्वर के सम्मुख धर्मी ठहरते हैं, और दोनों ही फिर स्वर्ग जाने के लिए प्रभु के अनुग्रह और क्षमा द्वारा ही स्वीकार्य माने जाते हैं।

    इसलिए ऐसे लोगों के लिए जो विश्वास से भटक गए हैं प्रार्थना करते रहना चाहिए, न कि उनकी भर्त्सना करनी चाहिए; और उनका विश्वास में लौट कर आना तथा प्रभु के लिए उपयोगी होना प्रभु के हाथों में, उसके समय और योजना के अनुसार, पूरा होने के लिए छोड़ देना चाहिए।

English Translation

Will Back-Sliders go to Heaven? - Part (2)

    There are many such people who after coming into the Christian Faith, for some reason or the other, back-slid or fell away from the Faith, but the Lord in accordance with His promise (Hebrews 13:5) did not leave or forsake them. Sooner or later, through some way, Lord brought them back into the Faith, and subsequently they were used mightily for the Lord, and through their witness and example of returning back into the Faith they became a source of encouragement and courage to others who were weak in, or had fallen away from the Faith. If we look at it from our current context, then the time when the Lord Jesus had taken the penalty of the world’s sins upon Himself, at that time we had no physical existence. Also, nowhere is it written in the Bible that the Lord took upon Himself and suffered the penalty of only those sins of the people which they had committed before coming to the Lord – i.e., the sins they had committed before being saved; and the Lord has left the remedy of their sins committed after their being saved in their own hands, by virtue of their works – this is an impossibility – how can a part of salvation be dependent upon the grace of God, and the remaining part be based on the works of a person? 

    The Lord has paid in full, the penalty for all the sins of all the people committed in their entire life-time, at whatever time in the history of the world they have existed. He has made available not a just partial but the complete way out from the deadly consequences of every person's entire sin burden of their entire life-time; now there is nothing left for any person to accomplish by his own efforts to live a saved life. When the Lord has taken upon Himself all the sins of every person, from their birth to their death, has paid in full for them, then which sin is left that will hinder the person from entering heaven? Is his sin of back-sliding or falling away from the Faith not a part of the sins of his lifetime, the price for which has already been paid in full by the Lord? 

    And if, supposing, having been cleansed on being saved, a person is able to maintain his life pure and sinless by his own efforts, works, and abilities, then he could have done the same before being saved as well – then the Lord's coming has been in vain; rather, the sinful, mortal man, actually has become greater than the Lord God! Since if this were possible, then man merely by his works, can accomplish that for which the Lord had to leave heaven and come down as a man to earth, suffer ignominy and torture, and had to sacrifice His life – this is an absolutely inconsistent and impossible contention! Moreover, which saved person can in all honesty say that since salvation, he has never – physically, mentally, or in thoughts, ever committed any sin? The Apostle John says: “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.” (1 John 1:8, 10) – take note that though he was a saved person and an Apostle, yet, through the use of the word "we" he is including himself amongst the sinners referred to in this verse. Therefore what difference if any is left between those who have back-slid or fallen away from the Faith, and those who haven't? The one falling away has also sinned, and those who are still in the Faith, they too have sinned or do sin – and since the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23), therefore both of them are in a similar situation, and both are justified before God not by their works of any kind, but solely by the grace, forgiveness, and love of God, and both are made acceptable for entry into heaven through the grace and forgiveness of God.

    Therefore for those who have back-slid or fallen away from faith, instead of criticizing and condemning them, we should pray for them; and we should leave their returning back into the Faith and being useful for the Lord in the hands of the Lord, to be accomplished according to the time and plan of God.

प्रश्न:

    एक बार जो व्यक्ति उद्धार पा गया तो क्या वह विश्वास से भटक जाने के बाद स्वर्ग जाएगा?

उत्तर:

    जिसने भी उद्धार पाया है, अर्थात, स्वेच्छा तथा सच्चे मन से, अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु मसीह को अपना निज उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार किया है, उससे अपने पापों की क्षमा माँगी है, और अपना जीवन उसे समर्पित किया है, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह से केवल वही व्यक्ति स्वर्ग जाएगा – लेकिन मनुष्य की वास्तवक आत्मिक दशा केवल परमेश्वर ही जानता है, इसलिए कौन स्वर्ग जाएगा और कौन नहीं, इसका निर्धारण केवल परमेश्वर ही कर सकता है, और कोई नहीं।

    परमेश्वर के वचन, बाइबल के अनुसार, यह बिलकुल स्पष्ट और स्थापित है कि उद्धार सदा काल के लिए है अर्थात ‘eternal’ है। इब्रानियों की पत्री का लेखक, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के द्वारा मनुष्यों को उद्धार प्रदान करने के लिए किए गए कार्यों के विषय लिखता है, “और पुत्र होने पर भी, उसने दुख उठा उठा कर आज्ञा माननी सीखी। और सिद्ध बन कर, अपने सब आज्ञा मानने वालों के लिये सदा काल के उद्धार (eternal salvation) का कारण हो गया” (इब्रानियों 5:8-9)। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी कहा कि उस पर विश्वास लाए हुए उसके लोगों को वह अनन्त जीवन (अर्थात कभी समाप्त न होने वाला अक्षय जीवन, eternal life) प्रदान करता है, तथा साथ ही यह आश्वासन भी दिया कि कोई भी प्रभु या परमेश्वर के हाथों से उन अनन्त जीवन पाए हुओं को नहीं छीन सकता है (यूहन्ना 10:27-29) – प्रभु का यह वायदा बहुत ही गंभीर एवं बहुत महत्वपूर्ण तात्पर्य रखने वाला कथन है। प्रभु के इस वायदे के आधार पर, उद्धार खो देने का अभिप्राय होता है कि, शैतान ने किसी विधि से उन उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्तियों को प्रभु या परमेश्वर के हाथ से छीन कर फिर से अपनी आधीनता में ले लिया है। यदि किसी भी प्रकार यह संभव होता, तो फिर तीन असंभव बातें संभव हो जाती हैं – पहली यह कि शैतान परमेश्वर से अधिक शक्तिशाली है; दूसरी यह प्रभु यीशु ने झूठ बोला, उसने झूठा आश्वासन दिया कि कोई भी उद्धार पाए हुओं को उसके या परमेश्वर पिता के हाथों से छीन नहीं सकता है; और तीसरी यह कि प्रभु को न शैतान की, न अपनी और न परमेश्वर की शक्ति की वास्तविकताओं का पता है, और वह यूं ही कुछ भी कहे जा रहा है! क्योंकि यह हो पाना पूर्णतः असंभव है, इसलिए प्रगट है कि कोई भी व्यक्ति, जिसने वास्तव में उद्धार पाया है, वह यूहन्ना 10:27-29 के आधार पर अपना उद्धार कभी भी नहीं खो सकता है। और क्योंकि उद्धार पाए हुओं पर दण्ड की कोई आज्ञा नहीं है (रोमियों 8:1), इसलिए जो वास्तव में उद्धार पाए हुए हैं, वे स्वर्ग में अवश्य ही प्रवेश करेंगे, चाहे विश्वास में उनकी परिपक्वता एवं स्थिति का स्तर कुछ भी क्यों न हो।

    किन्तु यह बात केवल परमेश्वर ही जानता है कि कौन वास्तविक मसीही विश्वासी है और कौन नहीं। उदाहरण के लिए युहूदा इस्करियोती को ही लीजिए; वह प्रभु द्वारा बुलाया गया, प्रभु के साथ रहा, प्रभु से शिक्षा पाई, प्रभु की सामर्थ्य और निर्देशन द्वारा, अन्य शिष्यों के साथ सुसमाचार प्रचार पर भी गया और उनके साथ मिलकर प्रचार किया, आश्चर्यकर्म भी किए, किन्तु अन्त में वह प्रभु के द्वारा ‘विनाश का पुत्र’ और ‘नाश होने वाला’ कहा गया (यूहन्ना 17:12), और अनन्त विनाश में चला गया। प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने भी अपने पहाड़ी प्रचार के अन्त में कहा है कि हर कोई जो उन्हें ‘हे प्रभु’ कहता है, वह स्वर्ग में प्रवेश नहीं करेगा, चाहे उन्होंने प्रभु के नाम में कई प्रकार के प्रचार, आश्चर्यकर्म, तथा अद्भुत एवँ उल्लेखनीय कार्य ही क्यों न किए हों – प्रभु ने उन लोगों के इन कामों को ‘कुकर्म’ कहा ; स्वर्ग में केवल वे ही प्रवेश करेंगे जो परमेश्वर पिता के आज्ञाकारी रहते हैं और परमेश्वर की इच्छे के अनुसार कार्य करते हैं (मत्ती 7:21-23)। इसलिए लोगों के प्रगट व्यवहार, प्रचार, और कार्यों के आधार पर हम किसी भी मनुष्य के विषय यह निश्चित नहीं कह सकते हैं कि प्रभु में विश्वास रखने का दावा करने और उसके नाम से प्रचार और कार्य करने वाला प्रत्येक व्यक्ति वास्तव में उद्धार पाया हुआ है भी कि नहीं! पौलुस ने भी इस बात के विषय सचेत किया और समझाया कि शैतान और उसके दूत भी ज्योतिर्मय स्वर्गदूतों और मसीह के प्रेरितों का स्वरूप धारण कर के लोगों को बहकाते हैं (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3, 13-15)। इसलिए व्यक्ति के उद्धार पाया हुआ होने की वास्तविकता तो केवल परमेश्वर ही जानता है, और वही इसका निर्णय कर सकता है, तथा करता है।

    साथ ही, बाइबल यह भी कहती है कि ऐसे भी मसीही विश्वासी पाए जाएँगे जो सच्चे मन से पश्चाताप करके प्रभु के पास तो आए, वे वास्तव में उद्धार पाए हुए भी थे, किन्तु उन्होंने प्रभु के लिए ऐसा कुछ नहीं किया जो जांचे जाने पर प्रतिफल दिए जाने के योग्य स्वीकार किया जाता। जब न्याय के समय उनके काम जांचे जाएँगे, तो वे उद्धार पाया हुआ होने के कारण स्वर्ग में तो प्रवेश करेंगे, परन्तु छूछे हाथ, बिना कुछ भी प्रतिफल लिए, और अनन्त-काल तक फिर ऐसे ही छूछे हाथ ही रहेंगे (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:9-15)। सँसार के सभी लोगों के समान, किए गए कर्मों के अनुसार, न्याय तो मसीही विश्वासियों का भी होगा, वरन न्याय आरंभ ही मसीही विश्वासियों से होगा (1 पतरस 4:17-18), परन्तु मसीही विश्वासियों का यह न्याय उनके उद्धार पाने के लिए नहीं, वरन अनन्तकाल के लिए उनके कर्मों के आधार पर उन्हें प्रतिफल दिए जाने के लिए होगा – उद्धार कर्मों के आधार पर नहीं है, परन्तु प्रतिफल कर्मों के आधार पर हैं। उद्धार तो केवल पापों से पश्चाताप और प्रभु यीशु पर लाए विश्वास के आधार पर परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह ही से है; किसी भी या कैसे भी कामों, अथवा प्रथाओं, या रीति-रिवाजों, या अनुष्ठानों/विधि-विधानों आदि के पालन के द्वारा कदापि नहीं है (इफिसियों 2:1-9)।

English Translation

Will Back-Sliders go to Heaven? - Part (1)

Question:

    Once a person is saved, if he back-slides, then will he go to heaven?

Answer:

    Whosoever has been saved, i.e., voluntarily and with a true heart, has repented of his sins, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior, has asked for forgiveness of his sins from Him, and has submitted his life to Him, only that person will go to heaven by the grace of God – but only God knows the actual spiritual condition of man, therefore it is only God who can decide on who will go to heaven, and who will not.

    According to God’s Word, the Bible, it is very clear and firmly established that salvation is forever, i.e. is eternal. The writer of the epistle to Hebrews, writing about the Lord Jesus Christ’s work to provide salvation to mankind writes, “though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered. And having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him,” (Hebrews 5:8-9). The Lord Jesus also said that He will give eternal life to all who believe in Him (i.e. an endless and indestructible life for all eternity, eternal life) and at the same time also assured that no one will be able to take the saved ones out of the Lord’s, or God’s hands (John 10:27-29) – this statement of the Lord has very serious and extremely important implications. On the basis of this promise from the Lord, to lose one’s salvation implies that, somehow Satan has been able to snatch away the saved persons from the Lord’s, or God’s hands, and taken possession of them again. If at all somehow this were to be possible, it would mean that three impossibilities have become possible – first, that Satan is more powerful than God; second, that the Lord Jesus spoke a lie, He gave a false assurance that no one will be able to take away a saved person from the hand of the Lord or of God; and third, that the Lord does not know about Satan’s power or His own power, or God’s power; He is just saying things without any basis! Since any and all of this is an absolute impossibility and can never happen, therefore it is evident that any person who has been saved, on the basis of John 10:27-29 can never ever lose his salvation. And since those who are saved are no longer under any condemnation (Romans 8:1), therefore those who are actually saved, will most certainly enter heaven, whatever be their state of maturity in faith and standing in spirituality.

    But it is only the Lord God who knows, who is an actual Christian Believer and who is not. For example, take Judas Iscariot; he was called to be a disciple by the Lord, he stayed in fellowship with the Lord, he learnt from the Lord, he too went for preaching in the power and instructions from the Lord, along with the other disciples, and along with the disciples he too preached the gospel, he too did miracles, but in the end he was called ‘the son of perdition’ and ‘the only one lost’ (John 17:12), and went into eternal destruction. The Lord Jesus towards the end of His Sermon on the Mount had said that not everyone who calls Him ‘Lord’ will enter into heaven, even though they may have abundantly preached, worked miracles and done other remarkable works in the Lord’s name – the Lord called all such works as ‘iniquity’ – and made it clear that only they will enter heaven who are obedient to God and work according to the will of God (Matthew 7:21-23). Therefore on the basis of the evident behavior, preaching, and works of any person we can never say for sure that all those who claim to believe in the Lord and everyone who preaches or works in His name, is actually a saved person! Paul also cautioned and exhorted that Satan and his angels come as angels of light and apostles of Christ to deceive people (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15). Therefore it is only God who knows the fact of a person’s being saved, and only He can decide, and does decide, about a person’s being saved or not.

    The Bible also says that there will be Christian Believers who truly repented and came to the Lord with a true heart, they were really saved, but they did not do anything that could be considered worthy of being rewarded by the Lord. At the time of judgement when their works are evaluated, they will surely enter heaven because they are saved, but will enter empty handed, without any rewards, and remain so forever for all eternity (1 Corinthians 3:9-15). Like for everyone else in the world, even the Christian Believers will face judgment on the basis of their works, rather, the beginning of judgement will be with the Christian Believers (1 Peter 4:17-18), but the judgement of the Christian Believers will not be for their salvation, but for giving them eternal rewards based on the evaluation of their works – salvation is not based upon works, but rewards are based on works. Salvation is only by the grace of God through repentance from sins and coming to faith in the Lord Jesus; not through any works of any kind, nor by fulfilling any traditions, or rituals, or carrying out religious observances of any kind (Ephesians 2:1-9).

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    जब एक बार हम सच्चे सुसमाचार के गुण पहचान जाते हैं, तब फिर हम उनका प्रयोग प्रत्येक अन्य शिक्षा एवँ सिद्धान्त की वास्तविकता और सत्यता को जाँचने के लिए कर सकते हैं। पवित्र-आत्मा ने, पौलुस प्रेरित में होकर गलत सुसमाचार को पहचानने के कुछ चिन्ह गलातियों 1:3-9 में दिए हैं, और साथ ही चेतावनी भी दी है कि जो सुसमाचार पहले-पहल दे दिया गया है, उसे यदि पौलुस या कोई स्वर्गदूत भी आकर बदलना या भिन्न प्रकार से व्यक्त करना चाहे, तो उसे कदापि स्वीकार नहीं किया जाए।

    गलातियों 1:3-9 का लेख इस प्रकार से है:

• गलातियों 1:3 परमेश्वर पिता, और हमारे प्रभु यीशु मसीह की ओर से तुम्हें अनुग्रह और शान्‍ति मिलती रहे।

• गलातियों 1:8 परन्तु यदि हम या स्वर्ग से कोई दूत भी उस सुसमाचार को छोड़ जो हम ने तुम को सुनाया है, कोई और सुसमाचार तुम्हें सुनाए, तो श्रापित हो।
• गलातियों 1:9 जैसा हम पहिले कह चुके हैं, वैसा ही मैं अब फिर कहता हूं, कि उस सुसमाचार को छोड़ जिसे तुम ने ग्रहण किया है, यदि कोई और सुसमाचार सुनाता है, तो श्रापित हो। अब मैं क्या मनुष्यों को मनाता हूं या परमेश्वर को? क्या मैं मनुष्यों को प्रसन्न करना चाहता हूं?

    इस खण्ड से सच्चे सुसमाचार के बारे में हम निम्न तथ्य और विशेषताएं सीख सकते हैं:

• आयत 3. सच्चे सुसमाचार के साथ परमेश्वर का अनुग्रह और शान्ति आते हैं; वह मतभेदों, विवादों और संघर्षो का कारण अथवा स्त्रोत नहीं होता है। ऐसी कोई भी शिक्षा जो परमेश्वर तथा प्रभु यीशु को हमारे जीवनों में समस्त अनुग्रह और शान्ति का स्वाभाविक स्त्रोत नहीं बनाती है, वरन परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह और शान्ति को प्राप्त करने के लिए किसी भी प्रकार के मानवीय प्रयासों और कर्मों को आधार बनाती है, या उसे साधारण विश्वास के द्वारा ग्रहण करने के स्थान पर कुछ कर्म या धार्मिकता के निर्वाह के द्वारा उस अनुग्रह और शान्ति को ‘कमाने’ का प्रयास करती है, वह सच्चा सुसमाचार नहीं है। जब प्रभु यीशु की शान्ति तो प्रभु के प्रत्येक अनुयायी के लिए प्रभु द्वारा पहले से ही प्रदान कर दी गई है (यूहन्ना 14:27; 16:33) तो फिर उसे प्राप्त करने के लिए किसी को अपना और कोई प्रयास क्यों करना पड़ेगा?
• आयत 4. ऐसी कोई भी शिक्षा या सिद्धान्त या धर्म और धार्मिकता जो हमें पापों से बचाने तथा परमेश्वर के सम्मुख धर्मी ठहराने के लिए कलवरी के क्रूस पर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा सिद्ध किए गए बलिदान के कार्य के अतिरिक्त और कुछ भी करने या निभाने को कहती है, वह झूठा सुसमाचार, गलत शिक्षा है; और उसका तुरंत ही पूर्णतः तिरिस्कार किया जाना चाहिए। हमारे उद्धार और पापों से छुटकारे के लिए जो कुछ प्रभु यीशु ने कर के दे दिया है वही पूर्ण है और सिद्ध है, उसे और अधिक कारगर करने के लिए उसमें और कुछ भी नहीं, बिलकुल कुछ नहीं, जोड़ा जा सकता है; और न ही कुछ और प्रभु के उस बलिदान का स्थान ले सकता है – न बपतिस्मा, न प्रभु-भोज में सम्मिलित होना, न दृढ़ीकरण, न कोई अन्य रीति-रिवाज़ अथवा प्रथा या त्यौहार का निर्वाह।
• आयत 5. सच्चे सुसमाचार से संलग्न रहना तथा उसका पालन करना सदा ही परमेश्वर और प्रभु यीशु मसीह को महिमा देता है। सच्चा सुसमाचार कभी भी किसी भी मनुष्य को आदर और महिमा नहीं देता है; वरन वह मनुष्य के पाप और पापी स्वभाव को उजागर करता है, परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह को पाप के समाधान के लिए प्रदान करता है, और जो परमेश्वर के अनुग्रह के द्वारा बचाए और छुड़ाए गए हैं उन से उनके उद्धार, परमेश्वर के राज्य में प्रवेश, और परमेश्वर के साथ संगति में बहाल किए जाने के लिए, किसी मनुष्य की बड़ाई करवाने या उसे आदरणीय बनाने के स्थान पर परमेश्वर की महिमा और स्तुति करवाता है। वह जो मनुष्यों की महिमा और आदर करता है या किसी भी रीति से परमेश्वर की महिमा में से चुराता है, वह सच्चा सुसमाचार नहीं है।

• आयतें 8, 9. सुसमाचार जो सदाकाल के लिए एक ही बार दे दिया गया है वह अपरिवर्तनीय है, उसमें न तो कुछ जोड़ा जा सकता है और न ही कुछ उसमें से घटाया जा सकता है, वरन शैतान की धूर्तता के हमलों से उसकी यत्न के साथ रक्षा करने की आवश्यकता है (यहूदा 1:3). कोई भी नहीं, न पौलुस, न कोई स्वर्गदूत, न कोई और – वह चाहे कितना भी कीर्ति प्राप्त या आदरणीय क्यों न हो, प्रथम कलीसिया को सदा काल के लिए एक ही बार दिए गए उस सुसमाचार में वह कोई भी, कैसा भी परिवर्तन या ‘सुधार’ नहीं कर सकता है (प्रेरितों 2:37-40; 1 कुरिन्थियों 15:1-4)। इस प्राथमिक और आधारभूत सुसमाचार में जो कुछ भी विद्यमान नहीं है, जो कुछ भी उससे भिन्न है, वह ‘और ही सुसमाचार’ है –शैतान से आया हुआ सच्चे सुसमाचार का भ्रष्ट रूप है, और उसे न तो कोई महत्व दिया जाना चाहिए और न ही स्वीकार किया जाना चाहिए, उसका अनुसरण या पालन करना तो बहुत दूर की बात है। परमेश्वर का वचन इस ‘दूसरे सुसमाचार’ को धोखे से सिखाने वालों को ‘श्रापित’ कहता है; और जिसे परमेश्वर ने श्रापित कहा हो उससे कुछ भी आशीषित अथवा महिमायोग्य प्राप्त होने की आशा रखना मूर्खतापूर्ण और बिलकुल गलत है।

    पौलुस द्वारा दिए गए निर्देश “तुम मेरी सी चाल चलो जैसा मैं मसीह की सी चाल चलता हूं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:1), तथा पवित्र-आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन में परमेश्वर, मसीह यीशु, उद्धार आदि से संबंधित सभी शिक्षाओं को उपरोक्त गुणों तथा विशेषताओं के अनुसार जांचने (और साथ ही 1 कुरिन्थियों 15; कुलुस्सियों 2 & 3 की शिक्षाओं के आधार पर भी आँकलन करने) के द्वारा सही को गलत से अलग किया जा सकता है, वास्तविकता को पहचाना जा सकता है।

English Translation

True Gospel versus False Beliefs and False Doctrines - Part (2)

    Once we know the characteristics of the true Gospel, we can always use them as the standard to compare every other doctrine and determine whether or not it is genuine. The Holy Spirit, through the Apostle Paul gives us some pointers to identify the wrong Gospel in Galatians 1:3-9, and warns us that other than the Gospel already stated, even if Paul himself or an angel tries to modify it or re-state it in a different manner, it is not to be accepted. 

    The text of Galatians 1:3-9 is as follows:

• Galatians 1:3 Grace to you and peace from God the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ,
• Galatians 1:4 who gave Himself for our sins, that He might deliver us from this present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father,
• Galatians 1:5 to whom be glory forever and ever. Amen.
• Galatians 1:6 I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel,
• Galatians 1:7 which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ.
• Galatians 1:8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
• Galatians 1:9 As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

    We can glean the following facts and characteristics regarding the true Gospel from this passage:

• Verse 3. The true Gospel brings God’s grace and peace with it; it is not a source of differences, contentions or strife. Any teaching that does not place God and the Lord Jesus as the source of all grace and peace in our lives, instead if it emphasizes on any kind of human efforts and works to attain God’s grace and peace, or asking to do something to “earn it” instead of receiving it by faith through the grace of God, is not the true Gospel. Since the peace of the Lord Jesus is already granted to every disciple of His (John 14:27; 16:33), so why would anyone have to make any efforts of his own to obtain it?
• Verse 4. Any teaching or doctrine or religion that speaks of anything other than, or of anything in addition to the accomplished work on the Cross of Calvary by the Lord Jesus, to save us from our sins and to justify us before God, is a false Gospel, a false doctrine, a false teaching; and ought to be rejected outright. Nothing, absolutely nothing, not even things like Baptism, participation in the Lord’s Table, Confirmation, or any other ritual or practice can in any way supplement or supplant what the Lord Jesus Christ has done for the salvation and redemption of mankind.
• Verse 5. Adherence to and following the true Gospel always glorifies God and the Lord Jesus. The true gospel never ever glorifies man; rather, it exposes the sinfulness of man, provides the grace of God as the remedy to sin, and causes the redeemed and saved by God’s grace to glorify God rather than exalt or venerate any human being in any manner, for anything related to salvation, Kingdom of God, and restoration to fellowship with God. That which glorifies any human being, or in any manner takes away from God’s glory, is not the true Gospel.
• Verses 6, 7. The ‘different gospel’’ is different because instead of emphasizing and presenting the ‘grace of Christ’ as something of first and foremost importance, leads people away from this primary requirement for salvation - grace. The ‘different gospel’’ may emphasize on things like ‘good works,’ ‘pious or holy living,’ ‘working of miracles’; it may focus on worldly gains and prosperity rather than accumulating heavenly gains (Colossians 3:1-2); on alms, penances, pilgrimages, veneration of saints and other humans; on philosophy, Bible knowledge, status in Church hierarchy, etc. but the one crucial thing missing in that ‘different’ or false gospel will be the emphasis and sole necessity of the grace of Christ for being right with God, for being acceptable to God (Colossians 2). The false Gospel will eventually lead to problems, strife, contentions, hurt and broken relationships, one-upmanship, ego problems, desire and efforts for gaining temporal status and things, etc. instead of the grace and peace of God, as stated in vs. 3.
• Verses 8, 9. The Gospel that has once and for all times been delivered is immutable, and cannot be added to or subtracted from, but has to be diligently defended from Satan’s devious ploys (Jude 1:3). No one, not Paul, not any angel, not anyone – howsoever accomplished or worthy of honor he or she may be, can ever make any changes or modifications to the Gospel delivered once and for all times at the beginning of the first Church (Acts 2:37-40; 1 Corinthians 15:1-4). Anything not found in this primary Gospel, is a ‘different gospel’ – a perversion of the true gospel that has come from the devil, and is not to be accepted or given any credence, let alone be followed. God’s Word calls the purveyors of this false or ‘different’ gospel as ‘accursed’ and it would be patently false and naïve to expect anything blessed from someone or something accursed from God.

    By following Paul’s exhortation “Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1), and subjecting all teachings and doctrines related to God, salvation, and Christ Jesus to the above criteria (and of teachings from 1 Corinthians 15; Colossians 2 & 3), and through the help and guidance of God’s Holy Spirit the genuine can readily be separated from the false.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
