परिचय – प्राप्त करना और उद्देश्य

 

    हमारे मसीही जीवन के लिए परमेश्वर द्वारा किए गए प्रावधानों में से पहले – उस के वचन, के प्रति योग्य भण्डारी होने को पिछले लेखों में देखने के बाद, आज से हम परमेश्वर द्वारा प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए किए गए दूसरे प्रावधान – परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का मंदिर होने (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:16; 6:19) के लिए योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

    मसीही समाज में एक असमंजस व्याप्त है कि एक मसीही विश्वासी में निवास करने के लिए परमेश्वर का पवित्र आत्मा उसे कब और कैसे प्राप्त होता है। यह असमंजस परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के बारे में प्रचलित बहुत सारी गलत शिक्षाओं के कारण और भी बढ़ जाता है। परमेश्वर के वचन की सीधी और स्पष्ट शिक्षा है कि जैसे ही कोई व्यक्ति अपने पापों से पश्चाताप करता है, प्रभु से उसके पापों को क्षमा करने का आग्रह करता है, कलवरी के क्रूस पर प्रभु यीशु द्वारा किए गए छुटकारे के कार्य को स्वीकार कर लेता है, और अपना जीवन प्रभु को समर्पित कर के उसकी आज्ञाकारिता में जीने आ निर्णय कर लेता है, उसी क्षण से ही वह परमेश्वर की संतान (यूहन्ना 1:12-13), उसके परिवार का सदस्य बन जाता है, और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा आ कर उसमें उसके पृथ्वी के जीवन भर के लिए निवास करने लगता है।

    किसी भी वास्तव में नया जन्म पाए हुए मसीही विश्वासी को पवित्र आत्मा प्राप्त करने के लिए किसी भी प्रतीक्षा की अथवा कोई विशेष प्रयास अथवा कार्य करने की कोई आवश्यकता नहीं है, क्योंकि पवित्र आत्मा परमेश्वर द्वारा विश्वास के आधार पर दिया जाता है, न कि किसी प्रकार के कार्यों के कारण (2 कुरिन्थियों 1:22; 5:5; गलातियों 3:14)। उसका आ कर विश्वासी में निवास करना, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में विश्वास करने के साथ ही, उसी पल से होता है (प्रेरितों 19:2; गलातियों 3:2; इफिसियों 1:13-14)। सच तो यह है कि पवित्र आत्मा के बिना कोई यीशु को प्रभु कह ही नहीं सकता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 12:3)। दूसरे शब्दों में, जब तक कि उद्धार पाने के पल से उस में पवित्र आत्मा आ कर निवास न करने लग जाए, कोई मसीही विश्वासी यीशु को प्रभु नहीं कह सकेगा। इसलिए उसके नया जन्म पाने के समय से ही पवित्र आत्मा की उसमें उपस्थिति न केवल बाइबल का एक तथ्य है, बल्कि उस नए जन्मे आत्मिक शिशु के लिए अनिवार्य भी है, उसे शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के लिए।

    प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने क्रूस पर चढ़ाए जाने से पहले शिष्यों के साथ जो अन्तिम चर्चा की थी, उस में, यूहन्ना 14 से 16 अध्याय में, उन्होंने शिष्यों से कहा था कि वे उनके साथ रहने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा को भेजेंगे। इसलिए इस ईश्वरीय वरदान के योग्य भण्डारी होने के लिए, हमें यह सीखना और समझना आवश्यक है कि परमेश्वर ने उसे हमें क्यों दिया है, और उसके हम में निवास करने का हम कैसे सदुपयोग कर सकते हैं, क्योंकि वह कभी भी उन उद्देश्यों से बाहर कुछ नहीं करेगा, जिनके लिए उसे हमें प्रदान किया गया है। यूहन्ना रचित सुसमाचार के इन अध्यायों में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने उसे हमारा सहायक, साथी, शिक्षक, हमें कायल करने वाला कहा है। वह हमें प्रभु यीशु मसीह के वचनों को स्मरण करवाता है, और यह करते समय वह परमेश्वर द्वारा दे दिए गए वचन से बाहर कभी नहीं जाता है, और न ही कभी किसी को कोई नए दर्शन अथवा सिद्धांत देता है, न ही अपनी ओर से, प्रभु यीशु ने जो कहा, सिखाया, और करा है, उसके अतिरिक्त कुछ करता है। हम उसे अपने हाथों की कठपुतली नहीं बना सकते हैं, और न ही अपनी इच्छाओं को पूरा करने के लिए उससे अपने लिए कुछ नया करवा सकते है। यदि हम उसके अनाज्ञाकारी रहेंगे, या उसके निर्देशों का पालन नहीं करेंगे, तो हम उसकी सामर्थ्य का भी अनुभव नहीं करने पाएँगे, और न ही वह हम में होकर अथवा हमारे लिए हमारी सेवकाई में, हमारे मसीही जीवन में कार्य करेगा। जब तक कि हम उसे हमें दिए जाने के उद्देश्यों को सीखेंगे और जानेंगे नहीं, तब तक हम उसे उचित आदर और उसकी सहायता का योग्य रीति से उपयोग नहीं करने पाएँगे।

    अगले लेख से हम इन बातों के बारे में देखना आरम्भ करेंगे, पवित्र आत्मा को मसीही विश्वासियों में निवास करने के लिए क्यों दिया गया है। हम यह यूहन्ना के इन अध्यायों में दिए गए क्रम के अनुसार देखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Introduction – Receiving & Purposes

 

    Having seen about the stewardship of the first provision made by God for our Christian life – His Word, the Bible, in the previous articles, from today we will begin to consider our stewardship about the second provision made by God for every Christian Believer – to be the Temple of God the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19).

    There is a confusion in the Christian community, about when and how a Christian Believer receives the Holy Spirit of God to dwell in him. This confusion is compounded by the many wrong teachings prevalent about God the Holy Spirit. The plain and simple teaching of God’s Word is that as soon as a person repents of his sins, asks the Lord God to forgive his sins, accepts the redeeming work of the Lord Jesus on the Cross of Calvary, and submits his life to the Lord to live in obedience to Him, from that very moment of believing he becomes a child of God (John 1:12-13), a member of God’s family, and God the Holy Spirit comes to reside in him for his lifetime on earth.

    No truly Born-Again Christian Believer needs to wait, or make any special efforts, or do any works of any kind to receive the Holy Spirit, since He is God given, because of our faith, and not given because of any works of any kind by any person (2 Corinthians 1:22; 5:5; Galatians 3:14). His coming to reside within the Believer happens the moment we believe, we come to faith in the Lord Jesus (Acts 19:2; Galatians 3:2; Ephesians 1:13-14). In fact, no one can call Jesus as Lord, except by the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:3). In other words, unless God the Holy Spirit is residing in him since the time of his being saved, no Christian Believer would ever be able to call Jesus as Lord. Hence the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Believer since the moment of his being Born Again is not only a Biblical fact, but is also a necessity for that new-born infant in Christ, to keep him safe and secure from the wiles and attacks of the devil.

    The Lord Jesus Christ, in His last discourse with the disciples before His crucifixion, told them that He will be sending the Holy Spirit to be with them. The Lord also told them about the purpose of His sending God the Holy Spirit to be with the disciples, in John chapters 14 to 16. Therefore, to be proper Stewards of this divine gift, we are to learn and understand why God has given Him to us, and how to utilize His residing in us, since He will never go outside of the purposes for which He has been made available. The Lord Jesus, in these chapters of John’s Gospel has called Him: our helper, companion, teacher, one who convicts us. He is there to remind us of Lord Jesus's Words, and in doing so He neither goes beyond God's given Word, nor does He give any new revelations or doctrines to anyone, nor does He do anything new from His own side, over and above what the Lord Jesus has already done, said, and taught. We cannot manipulate or get Him to do anything new just for us, or simply to satisfy our whims. If we are disobedient to Him, or do not follow His instructions, then we cannot experience His power, or have Him working in and through us in our ministry and Christian living. Unless we know and learn these purposes of His being given to us, we will not be able to duly honor Him, nor utilize His help worthily.

    From the next article we will look about these things, the purposes of the Holy Spirit residing in and being with Christian Believers, in the sequence that the Lord Jesus said about them in these chapters from John.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

इस श्रृंखला का एक संक्षिप्त पुनःअवलोकन

 

    सत्तर दिन पहले, 26 अगस्त 2023 को हमने इस श्रृंखला का आरम्भ किया था, परमेश्वर के लिए एक ऐसा जीवन जीना जिस पर उसकी आशीष हो और जिसे “सफलता से जिया गया जीवन” कहा जा सके। इस श्रृंखला के लिए हमने बाइबल से 1 राजाओं 2:2-4 को अपनी अगुवाई के लिए लिया था। इस खण्ड में, राजा दाऊद परमेश्वर की इच्छा में, अपनी मृत्यु से पहले, अपने युवा पुत्र सुलैमान, जिसे अभी हाल ही में इस्राएल का राजा नियुक्त किया गया है, को कुछ महत्वपूर्ण निर्देश दे रहा है। दाऊद सुलैमान को, जो यद्यपि एक राजा है, सिखा रहा है कि परमेश्वर की कृपा में किस प्रकार से जीना, बढ़ना, और उन्नति करते जाना है, जिससे कि वह अपने शासन काल में आशीषित, सुरक्षित, और सफल रहे। दाऊद, सुलैमान से कहता है कि जयवंत बने रहने के लिए उसे परमेश्वर पर भरोसा रखने वाला, उसका पूर्णतः आज्ञाकारी, और उसी पर निर्भर रहने वाला, परमेश्वर ही को अपना रक्षक बनाए रखना है। यह संभव हो पाने के लिए उसे इन चार बातों का निर्वाह करना पड़ेगा:

1.   “तू हियाव बांधकर पुरुषार्थ दिखा।” (1 राजाओं 2:2)

2.   “जो कुछ तेरे परमेश्वर यहोवा ने तुझे सौंपा है, उसकी रक्षा कर”; अर्थात, जो कुछ परमेश्वर ने तुझे दिया है उसका भला भण्डारी बन (1 राजाओं 2:3a)

3.   “उसके मार्गों पर चला करना और जैसा मूसा की व्यवस्था में लिखा है, वैसा ही उसकी विधियों तथा आज्ञाओं, और नियमों, और चितौनियों का पालन करते रहना”; अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन में लिखी सभी बातों का पालन कर, उनका आज्ञाकारी रह (1 राजाओं 2:3b)

4.   “अपने सम्पूर्ण हृदय और सम्पूर्ण प्राण से सच्चाई के साथ नित मेरे सम्मुख चलते रहें” अर्थात, हमेशा प्रभु परमेश्वर के प्रति प्रतिबद्ध और समर्पित होकर खराई से उसके सम्मुख चलता रहे (1 राजाओं 2:4b)

 

    यही चार निर्देश प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी के लिए भी हैं, जिस से कि वे अपने मसीही जीवन में जयवंत और सफल रहें तथा परमेश्वर की आशीषों को पाने वाले हों, विशेषकर इन अन्त के दिनों में जब हमें विभिन्न तरीकों से शैतानी ताकतों के निरंतर हमलों का सामना करना पड़ रहा है।

    उपरोक्त चार निर्देशों में से हम पहले वाले को देख चुके हैं। दूसरे निर्देश, परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों और संसाधनों का अच्छा भण्डारी होना, को देखते हुए, हमने ध्यान किया था कि हम दो प्रकार के व्यवहार के द्वारा अयोग्य भण्डारी हो जाते हैं। ये दो बातें हैं:

·        उदासीन और बेपरवाह होने के द्वारा: उस दास के समान होना जिसने उसे दिए गए एक तोड़े की कीमत को नहीं पहचाना, न ही जिसने वह दिया था उसकी कोई परवाह की, और उस तोड़े को किसी भी काम में नहीं लगाया, और उसे दण्ड उठाना पड़ा (मत्ती 25:24-30)।

·        अनुचित रीति से अधिकार जमाना और हथिया लेना: उस सेवक के समान होना जिसने अपने भण्डारी होने का दुरुपयोग किया, अपने आप को औरों पर अधिकारी बना लिया और अपने साथियों के साथ दुर्व्यवहार किया (लूका 12:45-46); जब कि उसे अपनी ज़िम्मेदारी निभाने में नम्र और देखभाल करने वाला होना चाहिए था (1 पतरस 5:1-4)।

 

    और फिर हमने देखा था कि प्रत्येक मसीही विश्वासी को परमेश्वर ने उद्धार के साथ ही कम से कम चार और प्रावधान दिए हैं:

·        अपना वचन

·        अपना पवित्र आत्मा

·        अपनी कलीसिया और उसमें उसकी संतानों के साथ संगति

·        अपनी सेवकाई में सहायता करने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा का कोई न कोई वरदान

 

    इसलिए, हमें कम से कम चार उपरोक्त परमेश्वर द्वारा दिए गए प्रावधानों का योग्य भण्डारी तो होना ही है। इन का भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखते हुए हमने परमेश्वर के वचन के योग्य भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखा है, और कैसे शैतान विभिन्न तरीकों से हमें गिरा कर अयोग्य भण्डारी बनाने के प्रयास करता है, और फिर हमने पौलुस के जीवन और सेवकाई उदाहरणों से परमेश्वर के वचन के उचित उपयोग था उसके प्रति व्यवहार करने को सीखा था।

    आशीषित और सफल मसीही जीवन के लिए इस दूसरे निर्देश में परमेश्वर के प्रावधानों के भले भण्डारी होने के बारे में आगे बढ़ते हुए, अब हम अगले लेख से परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति हमारे भण्डारी होने के बारे में देखना आरम्भ करेंगे।

English Translation

A Brief Recapitulation of This Series

 

    Seventy days ago, on 26th August 2023, we had started this series on living a life for God that would be blessed by Him and be counted as a “successfully lived life.” We had taken 1 Kings 2:2-4 as our lead Bible portion for this series. In this passage, King David in the will of God, before his death, is giving some important instructions to his young son, Solomon, who has recently been crowned as King of Israel. David is instructing Solomon, though already a King, about how to live, grow and prosper in God's favor, and be blessed, safe and successful in his reign. David instructs Solomon to remain victorious, he has to remain totally trusting, obedient and dependent upon God, to let God be his security. For this to happen, he has to do the following 4 things:

1. To "be strong and prove yourself a man." (1 Kings 2:2).

2. To "keep the charge of the Lord God", i.e., to be a good Steward of whatever God has given to him (1 Kings 2:3a).

3. To “walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses”, i.e., be obedient to the Word of God, in all things written in it. (1 Kings 2:3b).

4. To “walk before Me in truth with all their heart and with all their soul”, i.e., be careful, taking heed, to remain sincere and committed to the Lord always (1 Kings 2:4b).

     The same four instructions apply to every Christian Believer, for their being victorious and successful in their Christian lives and be partakers of God's blessings, particularly in these end times when we are facing the relentless attacks of satanic forces in various ways and in every aspect of our lives.

    Of the above four instructions, we have already considered the first one. In considering the second instruction, being a worthy steward of God given provisions, we had made note that we can be unworthy stewards because of two kinds of attitudes. We can be poor stewards by either:

• Being careless and unconcerned: being like the servant who did not take into consideration the worth of the talent given to him, and of the one who had given it to him, but did not put the talent given to him to any use, and was punished (Matthew 25:24-30).

• Being overly possessive and usurping: by being like the one who misused his stewardship as a position of authority (Luke 12:45-46); whereas he had to be gentle and caring in his responsibility (1 Peter 5:1-4).

     And then we had seen that to every Believer, God has not only given salvation, but also:

•  His Word

• His Holy Spirit

• His Church and Fellowship of His Children

•  Some Gift of the Holy Spirit for our ministry

    So, we need to be worthy stewards of at least the above four provisions made by God for us. In considering this stewardship, we have seen being worthy stewards of God’s Word, the various ways Satan can make us slip-up and be unworthy stewards, and then from the life and examples of Paul’s ministry, how to utilize and handle God’s Word worthily.

In carrying on with this second point of being blessed and successful through being worthy stewards of God’s provisions, from the next article, we will start considering about our stewardship of God the Holy Spirit.

    हम पौलुस के जीवन और उदाहरणों से परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और व्यवहार को सीखते आ रहे हैं – वह अपनी सेवकाई को पूरा करने के लिए किस प्रकार का जीवन जीता था, कैसा व्यवहार करता था, और परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे सौंपी गई ज़िम्मेदारी के निर्वाह के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन का किस प्रकार उपयोग किया करता था। हमें 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 2:1-10 में उसके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के उपयोग और उस से व्यवहार के वे सभी गुण मिलते हैं, जिन्हें हम ने इस अध्ययन में वचन के विभिन्न हवालों से देखा और सीखा है। इस खण्ड के पद 5 में एक ऐसा गुण भी दिया गया है जिस हम ने अभी तक नहीं देखा है – पौलुस कहता है कि उसने सुसमाचार प्रचार तथा परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा की अपनी सेवकाई में ‘लल्लोपत्तो’ की, यानी ‘चापलूसी’ की बातें कभी नहीं की। दूसरे शब्दों में, परमेश्वर के द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को लोगों को पहुँचाने में उसने कभी लोगों की बेवजह प्रशंसा करने, या उन्हें अनुचित आदर देने अथवा अनावश्यक ऊँचा दिखाने की बातों को उपयोग नहीं किया। और यह जानते हुए कि सुसमाचार को तथा परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षाओं को प्रस्तुत करने में पाप के बारे में कहने और पापों के लिए कायल करने की आवश्यकता है, पौलुस ने यह करने के लिए कभी नर्म और हलके शब्दों का उपयोग नहीं किया।

    पौलुस ने न तो कभी चाहा और न ही कभी प्रयास किया कि परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को प्रस्तुत करने में वह लोगों को अपमानित करने वाला, या नीचा दिखाने वाला, या उन्हें कोई ठेस पहुँचाने वाला बने। वरन पौलुस ने हमेशा ही शालीनता से अपनी बात लोगों के सामने रखी, जैसा कि हम उसके द्वारा अथेने में किए गए प्रचार से देखते हैं। हम प्रेरितों 17:16 में देखते हैं कि अथेने में अपने साथियों के आने की प्रतीक्षा करते हुए, “नगर को मूरतों से भरा हुआ देखकर उसका जी जल गया”; लेकिन जब उसे अथेने के अरियुपगुस में लोगों के सामने अपने सन्देश को रखने का अवसर दिया गया (प्रेरितों 17:22), तब उसने उनकी मूर्तिपूजा के विरुद्ध अपनी भावनाओं को व्यक्त नहीं किया। उसके विपरीत उसने उन्हें आदर के साथ संबोधित किया, उन्हें देवताओं को मानने वाला कहा, और वहाँ से उन्हें सुसमाचार में ले गया। उसके सन्देश देने के बाद, कुछ ने प्रभु में विश्वास किया, कुछ ने उसका ठट्ठा भी उड़ाया, लेकिन किसी को भी उसके सन्देश से ठेस नहीं लगी, और न ही किसी ने भी उसके अथवा उसके सन्देश के विरोध में कुछ कहा (प्रेरितों 17:32-34)। इफिसुस में, जब उसके विरोध में हल्ला हुआ, क्योंकि उसके प्रचार के कारण वहाँ के मूर्तियाँ बनाने वालों को आर्थिक हानि होने लगी थी, लेकिन भीड़ को शांत करने के लिए नगर के मंत्री ने पौलुस और उसके साथियों के विषय में कहा, “क्योंकि तुम इन मनुष्यों को लाए हो, जो न मन्दिर के लूटने वाले हैं, और न हमारी देवी के निन्‍दक हैं” (प्रेरितों 19:37)। हम इन उदाहरणों से देखते हैं कि पौलुस परमेश्वर के सन्देश को, सत्य को, बिना उसे हल्का किए इस प्रकार से बाँट सकता था कि किसी को ठेस भी न पहुँचे और कोई अविश्वासी, जिसे वह संबोधित कर रहा था, अपमानित भी अनुभव न करे।

    इसी प्रकार से विश्वासियों के मध्य भी उसने परमेश्वर द्वारा उसे दिए गए सन्देश को, इसलिए कि कहीं उससे किसी को बुरा न लगे या ठेस न पहुँचे, बिना उसे हल्का किए या उसमें कोई मिलावट किये उसी सत्य में जैसा उसे सौंपा गया था, वैसा ही उसे बाँटा। जहाँ आवश्यकता हुई, वहाँ पौलुस ने विश्वासियों को डाँटा भी, जैसे कि उसने गलती में पड़े हुए कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को डाँटा। पौलुस ने उन्हें I कुरिन्थियों 4:14, 21 में लिखा कि वह उन्हें लज्जित करना नहीं चाहता था, लेकिन यदि आवश्यकता हुई तो वह और भी कठोर होकर, छड़ी ले कर भी उनके पास आने को तैयार था। फिर उसने 2 कुरिन्थियों 7:7-10 में इस बात को माना की उसकी पहली पत्री से उन्हें ठेस पहुँची थी, लेकिन वह साथ ही यह भी कहता है कि उसे अपने किए पर पछतावा नहीं है, क्योंकि उसके किए ने कुरिन्थुस के विश्वासियों में दुःख, पश्चाताप, और सुधार के लिए आवश्यक प्रतिक्रिया उत्पन्न की थी। तो, जहाँ आवश्यक था, वहाँ परमेश्वर की इच्छा और मार्गदर्शन में, वह स्पष्टवादी और कठोर भी होने से नहीं हिचकिचाता था। इसी प्रकार से हम देखते हैं कि पतरस (प्रेरितों 2:22-23, 36) और स्तिफनुस (प्रेरितों 7:51-54) भी यहूदियों पर उनके द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन के विरुद्ध की गई गलतियों को प्रकट करने में निःसंकोच और स्पष्टवादी थे, उनके द्वारा दिए जाने वाले परमेश्वर के सन्देश में उन्होंने कोई समझौता नहीं किया; किन्तु किसी ने भी कभी कोई असभ्य अथवा औरों को नीचा दिखाने वाली किसी भाषा का उपयोग नहीं किया।

    यह वर्तमान में कुछ पास्टरों, प्रचारकों, और कलीसिया के अगुवों द्वारा संसार के लोगों को प्रसन्न करने और उन्हें अनुचित आदर और महिमा देने, और यह करने के लिए परमेश्वर के वचन एवं सन्देश में मिलावट करने, उसे हल्का करने की प्रवृत्ति के बिलकुल विपरीत है। हम इन उदाहरणों से देखते हैं कि जहाँ एक समर्पित और परमेश्वर को महिमा देने की इच्छा रखने वाला आज्ञाकारी हृदय होता है, वहाँ परमेश्वर अपने सन्देश को उपयुक्त रीति से प्रस्तुत करने के तरीके भी उपलब्ध करवा देता है। सँसार के लोगों की चापलूसी करना और परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करना, उसे हल्का बनाना, एक सर्वथा गलत नीति एवं प्रवृत्ति है, जिसे लोगों से प्रशंसा और अनुमोदन तो मिल सकता है, लेकिन परमेश्वर के राज्य के लिए कभी कोई सार्थक परिणाम नहीं आ सकता है, क्योंकि उस सन्देश और प्रचारक में फिर परमेश्वर की सामर्थ्य नहीं रहती है।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 24

 

    We have been learning from the examples and life of Paul about utilizing and handling the Word of God – the kind of life he lived and how he behaved to carry out his ministry, and how he used the Word of God to fulfil his God assigned ministry. In 1 Thessalonians 2:1-10, we find mentioned all the characteristics of Paul’s utilizing and handling God’s Word that we have studied through various references. In verse 5 of this passage there is one characteristic that we have not yet considered – Paul says that he never used flattering words in his ministry of preaching the gospel and teaching God’s Word. In other words, he never resorted to unnecessarily praising, or unduly honoring, or unjustifiably exalting people to deliver his God given message. Also, knowing that presenting the gospel and the teachings of God’s Word requires speaking of sin and conviction for it, Paul did not try to use soft and gentle words to do so.

    Paul neither tried nor meant to be demeaning, or derogatory, or offensive in presenting the message God had given him. Rather, he always tried to present his message in a civilized and respectful manner, as we see in his preaching the gospel in Athens. We see from Acts 17:16, that while waiting for his colleagues to join him in Athens, ‘his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols’; but when he is given the chance to present his message in the Areopagus of Athens (Acts 17:22), he never showed his inner feelings against their idolatry. On the contrary, we see him begin his address to them respectfully, calling them very religious, and from there he leads them on to the gospel. At the end of his address, though some believed in the Lord, and some even mocked him, but none was offended by his message nor did anyone speak against him or his message (Acts 17:32-34). In Ephesus, when there was an uproar against him, since his preaching was causing great financial harm to silversmiths who made the idols, nevertheless in pacifying the crowds the city clerk said about Paul and his colleagues “For you have brought these men here who are neither robbers of temples nor blasphemers of your goddess” (Acts 19:37). We see from these examples that Paul could speak the truth, share God’s message, without compromising on it or diluting it, but also without offending or insulting the unbelievers that he was addressing.

    Similarly, amongst the Believers too he did not dilute or alter the God given message so that it may not hurt or offend people through stating the truth. Where it was required, Paul admonished the Believers, as he did to the errant Corinthian Believers in I Corinthians 4:14, 21, saying that though he was not writing to them to shame them, but if needs be, he was willing to be even harsher, and ‘come to them with a rod.’ Then in 2 Corinthians 7:7-10 he acknowledges that his first letter did offend them, but he also says that he did not regret doing that, since that provoked the Corinthians to sorrow, repentance and taking corrective action. So, where required, in the will and guidance of God, he was ready to be forthright and harsh as well. Similarly, we also see that Peter (Acts 2:22-23, 36) and Stephen (Acts 7:51-54) were very forthright in pointing out what the Jews had done contrary to God’s Word, without compromising on God’s message being delivered through them; but none of them ever used any derogatory or uncivilized language.

    This is a stark contrast to the tendency of some Pastors, preachers and Church leaders to appease and honor worldly people, and to do this they are willing to dilute and compromise on God’s Word and God’s message as well. But where there is a heart willing to obey God and glorify Him, God also provides the way to present his message in an appropriate way. Flattering the people of the world and diluting God’s Word is a wrong attitude and strategy that may bring appreciation and acceptance from the people of the world, but will never bring any results for the Kingdom of God, since God’s power is no longer in that message or preacher.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

    पौलुस के जीवन और उदाहरणों से परमेश्वर के वचन के सही उपयोग और उसके साथ उचित व्यवहार को सीखते हुए, पिछले कुछ लेखों से हम 2 कुरिन्थियों 4:2 से देखते आ रहे हैं। इस पद में पौलुस ने अपनी सेवकाई के तीन गुणों तथा साथ ही उद्देश्यों को भी लिखा है। अभी तक हम पौलुस की सेवकाई के उद्देश्यों और तीन में से दो गुणों को देख चुके हैं। आज हम इस पद में दिए गए तीसरे गुण, “न परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करते हैं” को देखेंगे।

    ऐसा करने के दो बहुत सामान्य, किन्तु बहुधा पहचाने न जाने वाले तरीके हैं; एक है परमेश्वर के वचन में मानवीय बुद्धि की बातों को मिश्रित करना, जो क्रूस के सन्देश को, सुसमाचार को व्यर्थ कर देता है (1 कुरिन्थियों 1:17); और दूसरा है वचन को ‘सुधार’ कर, उसे और अधिक आकर्षक, लुभावना, और स्वीकार करने के लिए सहज बना कर प्रस्तुत करना, बजाए जैसा परमेश्वर ने उसे प्रदान किया है उसे वैसे ही उपयोग करना, जैसे कि परमेश्वर ने अपने नबियों से करने के लिए कहा है (निर्गमन 7:2; यिर्मयाह 1:7, 17; 23:28; यहेजकेल 2:7; 3:10-11)। हम मसीही विश्वासियों को शैतान द्वारा बहकाए जाने से बचाए रखने के लिए परमेश्वर ने हमारे अन्दर निवास करने के लिए हमें अपना पवित्र आत्मा दिया है, जो हमारा सहायक है और हमें प्रभु यीशु की बातें सिखाता और स्मरण दिलाता है (यूहन्ना 14:16-17, 26)। जो लोग पवित्र आत्मा के प्रति समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी रहते हैं, वह उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन को सिखाता और समझाता भी है (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:10-14)। लेकिन फिर उन्हें जा कर उसे जो पवित्र आत्मा ने सिखाया है, उसमें अपनी बुद्धि और समझ की बातें नहीं मिलानी चाहिएँ, और न ही उसे ’बेहतर’ करने का, उसे और अधिक आकर्षक और लुभावना बनाने का, स्वीकार करने में सहज बनाने का प्रयास नहीं करना चाहिए; बल्कि जैसा परमेश्वर ने दिया है, उसे वैसा ही उपयोग करना चाहिए।

    जैसा हम देख चुके हैं, क्योंकि पौलुस परमेश्वर को पूर्णतः समर्पित और आज्ञाकारी था, इसीलिए वह न केवल परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करने, उसे बिगाड़ने, या उसके साथ हेरा-फेरी करने की प्रवृत्ति से बचकर रह सका, वरन जैसा परमेश्वर ने उसे दिया था, वचन को वैसा ही लोगों तक पहुंचाने में उद्यमी भी बना रहा (1 कुरिन्थियों 11:23; गलातियों 1:11-12; 1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 4:2)। हम मसीही विश्वासियों को, क्योंकि हम सभी परमेश्वर के वचन के साथ व्यवहार करते हैं, और विशेषकर उन्हें जिन्हें वचन की सेवकाई सौंपी गई है, इस खतरे के विषय अवगत और बहुत सावधान रहना चाहिए कि शैतान हम में क्या करने की प्रवृत्ति उकसा सकता है, अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन में मिलावट करना, उसे बिगाड़ना, और उसके साथ हेरा-फेरी करना। क्योंकि शैतान की इस चाल में गिर जाने का अर्थ है हमने कहीं, किसी रीति से, सँसार और शैतान के साथ समझौता कर लिया है, शैतान को हमारे जीवन में होकर काम करने का अवसर प्रदान कर दिया है। इसका परिणाम न केवल हमारी सेवकाई का व्यर्थ और निष्फल हो जाना, बल्कि साथ ही हमारा परमेश्वर के वचन का दुरुपयोग करने का दोषी हो जाना भी होता है। जैसा पौलुस के साथ था, वैसा ही हमारे साथ भी होना चाहिए, हमें परमेश्वर के वचन में कभी कोई मिलावट नहीं करनी चाहिए; अनजाने में भी नहीं; क्योंकि अनजाने में भी ऐसा कर देना इस बात का संकेत है कि हम परमेश्वर के मार्गों से भटक गए हैं, और शैतान की युक्तियों में फँस गए हैं।

    यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु, मैं अपने पापों के लिए पश्चातापी हूँ, उनके लिए आप से क्षमा माँगता हूँ। मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मुझे और मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Appropriately Handling God’s Word – 23

 

    For learning the appropriate way to utilize and handle God’s Word from the life and example of Paul, for the past few articles we have been considering 2 Corinthians 4:2, where Paul has mentioned three characteristics, and the purpose of his ministry. So, far we have considered the purposes and two of the characteristics of his ministry. Today we will consider the third characteristic that Paul has mentioned here in this verse, i.e., “handling the word of God deceitfully.”

    For Paul to have said this, at that time – the time of the first Church, is an indicator that already Satan was at work and had spread around his agents, who were preaching and teaching wrong things. As we have seen in the preceding articles, some of these false preachers and teachers did this to gain worldly wealth and a status amongst the Christian Believers, while others simply did it to misguide and put people on the wrong path, lead them away from God while keeping them under the false impression that they are following or serving God (2 Corinthians 11:3, 13-15). The word translated “deceitfully”, in the original Greek language, means ‘to adulterate, distort, or falsify.’ Therefore, the implication is evident, God’s Word can only be misused, if it is first somehow adulterated, or distorted, or falsified. In its pure un-mishandled form, it will not misguide anyone. In our preceding, related series, we have seen in detail the various ways through which Satan causes people, even the committed Christian Believers, the preachers and teachers of God’s Word, to mishandle and misinterpret the Word of God.

    The two very common but often unrealized ways are adding human wisdom to God’s Word, which renders the message of the Cross, i.e., the gospel, ineffective (1 Corinthians 1:17); and secondly, to try to improve upon it, or make it appear more attractive and appealing, or more convenient, instead of using it in just the way it has been given by God, as God had instructed His prophets to do (Exodus 7:2; Jeremiah 1:7,17; 23:28; Ezekiel 2:7; 3:10-11). To help us Christian Believers stay safe from being misled by Satan, God has given us His Holy Spirit to reside in us as our Helper and teach and remind us the things taught by the Lord Jesus (John 14:16-17, 26). Those who stay obedient and submitted to the Holy Spirit, are also made to understand and are taught God’s Word by Him (1 Corinthians 2:10-14). But then, they should not go and adulterate what the Holy Spirit has taught them with their own wisdom and understanding, nor try to improve upon it, or make it appear more attractive and appealing, or more convenient; but utilize it just the way it has been taught and given to them.

    As we have seen, since Paul was fully submitted and obedient to God, therefore, he could not only stay safe from the tendency to adulterate, distort, or falsify God’s Word, but also be diligent in presenting it as it had been given to him (1 Corinthians 11:23; Galatians 1:11-12; 1 Thessalonians 4:2). For Christian Believers, since we all handle God’s Word, and particularly those who have been given the ministry of utilizing God’s Word, it is essential to remain aware of this danger, of this tendency that Satan often induces in us, i.e., of adulterating, distorting, or falsifying God’s Word. Since falling for this satanic ploy indicates that somehow, in some way, we have compromised with the world and Satan, and have allowed him to work in and through our lives. This will not only render our ministry ineffective and unfruitful, but will also make us guilty of mishandling God’s Word. As it was for Paul, so should it be for us, that we should never use God’s Word “deceitfully”, not even inadvertently; since even the inadvertent misuse indicates that we have deviated from God’s ways and somehow in something have fallen for Satan’s ploys.

    If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can also make this prayer and submission in words something like, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life.  Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.
