पाप का समाधान - उद्धार - 29
उद्धार के परिणाम और नया जन्म
पिछले लेख में हमने देखा कि किस प्रकार प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने समस्त मानवजाति के संपूर्ण पापों को अपने ऊपर ले लिया, और प्रभु ने उनके समाधान के लिए आवश्यक बलिदान और प्रायश्चित का कार्य पूरा कर दिया। और फिर अपने मृतकों में से पुनरुत्थान के द्वारा पाप के प्रभाव - आत्मिक और शारीरिक मृत्यु का भी पूर्ण समाधान कर दिया। इस प्रकार प्रभु ने समस्त संसार भर के सभी मनुष्यों को पापों से मुक्ति, उद्धार और परमेश्वर से मेल-मिलाप कर लेने का मार्ग उपलब्ध करवा कर मुफ़्त में दे दिया। प्रभु यीशु द्वारा संपन्न किए गए इस कार्य को अपने जीवन में कार्यान्वित करने, और उसके लाभों को अर्जित करने के लिए अब किसी भी मनुष्य को न तो किसी धर्म के निर्वाह अथवा किसी धर्म विशेष को स्वीकार करने की, न किसी धार्मिक अनुष्ठान को पूरा करने की, और न ही प्रभु द्वारा किए गए इस कार्य में किसी भी अन्य मनुष्य, वह चाहे कोई भी हो, द्वारा किसी भी प्रकार के कोई योगदान अथवा भागीदारी की आवश्यकता है। अब जो भी स्वेच्छा से और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा कलवरी के क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान और उनके पुनरुत्थान को स्वीकार करता है, प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जगत का उद्धारकर्ता होने पर विश्वास लाता है, उन से अपने पापों से क्षमा माँगकर उनका शिष्य बनने के लिए अपने आप को उन्हें समर्पित करता है, वह अपने द्वारा किए गए इस निर्णय और प्रभु को समर्पण के पल से ही उनसे पापों की क्षमा और उद्धार पा लेता है; उसका सांसारिक नश्वर जीवन से स्वर्गीय अविनाशी जीवन में नया जन्म हो जाता है।
इससे कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता कि वह व्यक्ति कौन है, किस धर्म या जाति का है, धर्मी है अथवा अधर्मी है, पढ़ा-लिखा है या अनपढ़ है, धनी है अथवा निर्धन है, स्वस्थ है अथवा अस्वस्थ या अपंग है, किस रंग का है, समाज में उसका क्या स्तर या प्रतिष्ठा अथवा स्थान है, उसका पिछला जीवन कैसा था, आदि - उस व्यक्ति से संबंधित किसी भी सांसारिक बात का उसके प्रभु पर लाए गए विश्वास द्वारा उद्धार और पापों की क्षमा पाने से कोई लेना-देना नहीं है। महत्व और अनिवार्यता केवल इस की है कि उसने सच्चे मन से और स्वेच्छा से प्रभु को अपना उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार किया है कि नहीं, अपने आप को उसका शिष्य होने के लिए समर्पित किया है कि नहीं। इसीलिए, जैसा इस श्रृंखला के एक आरंभिक लेख में कहा गया था, मसीही विश्वास के अंतर्गत मिलने वाली पापों से क्षमा और उद्धार से अधिक सरल, सभी के लिए उपलब्ध, सभी के लिए कार्यकारी समाधान और निवारण और कहीं है ही नहीं। व्यक्ति जहाँ है, जैसा है, जिस भी स्थिति में है, अकेला है या किसी भीड़ में है, किसी धार्मिक स्थल अथवा धार्मिक अगुवे की वहाँ उसके साथ उपस्थिति है या नहीं - इन बातों और ऐसी किसी भी बात का कोई महत्व, कोई भूमिका नहीं है। शान्त, दृढ़ निश्चय, आज्ञाकारी और समर्पित मन से, मन ही में की गई एक सच्ची प्रार्थना, प्रभु यीशु से कहा गया एक वाक्य - “हे प्रभु यीशु मेरे पाप क्षमा कर और मुझे अपना ले”, उस व्यक्ति द्वारा सच्चे मन से यह कहते ही, वह तुरंत ही अनन्तकाल के लिए प्रभु का जन बन जाता है, नया जन्म प्राप्त कर लेता है। यदि आपने अभी तक यह नहीं किया है, तो अभी आपके लिए प्रभु का आह्वान है, अवसर है कि अभी यह कर लें, और अपनी अनन्तकाल की नियति स्वर्गीय नियति में परिवर्तित कर लें।
यह पापों की क्षमा, उद्धार पा लेना अपने आप में अंत नहीं है, वरन एक नए जीवन का आरंभ है। उद्धार पाना पल भर का कार्य है, किन्तु उद्धार पाए हुए जीवन को जीना सीखना, और व्यवहारिक जी के दिखाना, सारे जीवन भर प्रति-दिन करते रहने वाला अभ्यास है, परिश्रम का कार्य है। व्यक्ति द्वारा पश्चाताप तथा पापों की क्षमा की प्रार्थना के साथ अपना जीवन प्रभु यीशु को समर्पित करते ही उसके लिए और उसके जीवन में परमेश्वर की ओर से कई स्वर्गीय बातें आरंभ हो जाती हैं, उससे जुड़ जाती हैं, जिन्हें हम आगे देखेंगे। अभी हमने देखा कि उद्धार पाने को नया जन्म पाना भी कहते हैं; अर्थात सांसारिक नश्वर जीवन से स्वर्गीय अविनाशी जीवन में नया जन्म हो जाना। शारीरिक और सांसारिक दृष्टि से उसकी आयु कितनी भी हो, किन्तु आत्मिक दृष्टि से वह अब एक नवजात शिशु है। जैसे बच्चा माता के गर्भ की संकुचित अवस्था से बाहर आकर खुल कर हाथ-पाँव मारने, सांस लेने और विकसित होने, बहुत से बातें सीखने और बढ़ने लगता है, उसी प्रकार यह नवजात आत्मिक शिशु भी अब स्वर्गीय आत्मिक जीवन में प्रवेश कर के एक नए वातावरण में विकसित होना आरंभ करता है - वह कितना, और कितनी शीघ्रता से विकसित होने पाता है, यह उसके अपने परिश्रम, प्रभु के प्रति समर्पण की दृढ़ता, प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता पर निर्भर है। उस आत्मिक शिशु का “दूध” या भोजन परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल है, जिसे उसे निर्मल मन के साथ बारंबार आत्मसात करते रहना है, तब ही वह ठीक से बढ़ने पाएगा, “इसलिये सब प्रकार का बैर भाव और छल और कपट और डाह और बदनामी को दूर करके। नये जन्मे हुए बच्चों के समान निर्मल आत्मिक दूध की लालसा करो, ताकि उसके द्वारा उद्धार पाने के लिये बढ़ते जाओ” (1 पतरस 2:1-2)।
जिस प्रकार एक नवजात शिशु में वो सारे अंग होते हैं जो एक वयस्क और कद्दावर व्यक्ति में होते हैं, किन्तु उस शिशु का शरीर अभी वैसा विकसित, शक्तिशाली, और विभिन्न कार्यों के लिए सक्षम नहीं होता है, जैसा उस वयस्क का हो गया है, उसी प्रकार से इस आत्मिक शिशु को भी आत्मिक रीति से विकसित, शक्तिशाली, और विभिन्न आत्मिक बातों एवं कार्यों के लिए सक्षम होने में समय, आत्मिक भोजन, आत्मिक जीवन के अभ्यास और परिश्रम की आवश्यकता होती है। उसके लिए यह कर पाने के लिए परमेश्वर ने कई प्रकार के प्रयोजन और संसाधन उपलब्ध करवाए हैं, जिन्हें हम आगे के लेखों में देखेंगे। परमेश्वर का उद्देश्य है कि सभी उद्धार पाए हुए लोग उसके पुत्र और हमारे उद्धारकर्ता प्रभु यीशु की समानता में अंश-अंश करके ढलते चले जाएं, “परन्तु जब हम सब के उघाड़े चेहरे से प्रभु का प्रताप इस प्रकार प्रगट होता है, जिस प्रकार दर्पण में, तो प्रभु के द्वारा जो आत्मा है, हम उसी तेजस्वी रूप में अंश अंश कर के बदलते जाते हैं” (2 कुरिन्थियों 3:18)। क्योंकि यह परिवर्तन क्रमिक और ‘अंश-अंश करके’ होता है, इसलिए उद्धार पाए हुए व्यक्ति में तुरंत ही प्रभु यीशु के समान सिद्धता और पवित्रता दिखाई नहीं देती है; किन्तु वह उसकी ओर अग्रसर रहता है। जैसे शारीरिक रीति से सभी समय-समय पर बीमार होते हैं कमजोर पड़ते हैं, उनकी बीमारी का इलाज करके उन्हें फिर से स्वस्थ और सबल किया जाता है, वैसे ही आत्मिक जीवन में भी शैतान द्वारा लाई गई बातों में फंस जाने के द्वारा उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति भी आत्मिक रीति से बीमार हो सकता है, उसे फिर से आत्मिक बल पाने के लिए आत्मिक इलाज की आवश्यकता पड़ती है, और उसे फिर से आत्मिक रीति से शक्तिशाली और प्रभावी होने में कुछ समय लग सकता है।
नया जन्म पाना आत्मिक जीवन में प्रवेश करना है; प्रभु यीशु के स्वर्गीय जीवन में रखा गया पहला कदम। इसके आगे जीवन भर का कार्य और अभ्यास है, साथ-साथ मिलती रहने वाली आत्मिक आशीष और अलौकिक आनन्द भी हैं, तथा भविष्य में परलोक में मिलने वाले, और उत्तमता में कल्पना से भी बाहर प्रतिफल भी हैं “परन्तु जैसा लिखा है, कि जो आंख ने नहीं देखी, और कान ने नहीं सुना, और जो बातें मनुष्य के चित्त में नहीं चढ़ीं वे ही हैं, जो परमेश्वर ने अपने प्रेम रखने वालों के लिये तैयार की हैं” (1 कुरिन्थियों 2:9)।
प्रभु यीशु ने तो अपना काम कर के दे दिया है; किन्तु क्या आपने उसके इस आपकी ओर बढ़े हुए प्रेम और अनुग्रह के हाथ को थाम लिया है, उसकी भेंट को स्वीकार कर लिया है? या आप अभी भी अपने ही प्रयासों के द्वारा वह करना चाह रहे हैं जो मनुष्यों के लिए कर पाना असंभव है।
क्या आप ने प्रभु के बलिदान और पुनरुत्थान को स्वीकार करके, उसके पक्ष में अपना निर्णय ले लिया है? स्वेच्छा से, सच्चे और पूर्णतः समर्पित मन से, अपने पापों के प्रति सच्चे पश्चाताप के साथ एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने जाने-अनजाने में, मन-ध्यान-विचार और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किए हैं। मैं मान लेता हूँ कि आपने क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा मेरे पापों के दण्ड को अपने ऊपर लेकर पूर्णतः सह लिया, उन पापों की पूरी-पूरी कीमत सदा काल के लिए चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को अपनी ओर परिवर्तित करें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें, अपने साथ कर लें।” आपका सच्चे मन से लिया गया मन परिवर्तन का यह निर्णय आपके इस जीवन तथा परलोक के जीवन को स्वर्गीय जीवन बना देगा।

Results of Salvation & Being Born-Again
In the previous article we have seen how the Lord Jesus Christ took upon Himself all the sins of the entire mankind, paid and atoned for them through sacrificing His life. And then by His resurrection from the dead, He removed the consequence of sin, i.e., death, both spiritual and physical. The Lord thereby freely provided the complete solution and deliverance to mankind from sin - salvation, and being reconciled with God. To utilize the work that the Lord Jesus has accomplished, make it effective in one’s life, and gain its benefits, is now every person’s own decision. It is not through the following of any religion, or converting from one religion to another; nor is it through fulfilling some religious rituals and traditions. It does not require the intervention of any person or institution to make it applicable in one’s life. Now, whosoever voluntarily and with a sincere heart accepts the sacrifice made by the Lord Jesus on the Cross of Calvary and His resurrection, believes that the Lord Jesus is the Savior of the world and his savior as well, asks for forgiveness of his sins from Him, surrenders his life to the Lord, and becomes His disciple, this person, by virtue of his own heart-felt decision and submission to the Lord receives the forgiveness of all of his sins the very moment he makes this decision and becomes “saved”; he is Born-Again from his worldly perishable state into the heavenly eternally imperishable state.
Things like his identity, religion, caste, being ‘religious’ or not, being educated or uneducated, being rich or poor, being healthy or sick or disabled in any way, whatever color he may be of, whatever be his standing and status in the society, whatever may his earlier life have been like, etc., none of these or any other worldly things like these have any bearing on his receiving the forgiveness of sins and being saved or being Born-Again by faith in the Lord Jesus. The only thing that matters is whether or not he has accepted with a sincere and true heart the Lord Jesus Christ as his savior or not; surrendered himself to be the Lord’s disciple or not. That is why, as had been stated in one of the initial articles of this series, there is no easier and effective way than the Christian Faith for obtaining forgiveness of sins and salvation, which is freely available and applicable for all and everyone. Wherever a person may be, in whatever condition he may be, whether he is alone or in a crowd, whether he is in a religious place and with a religious person or not - none of these matter. All the person has to do is that with a calm, committed, firm decision, be obedient to the calling of the Lord Jesus, say a sincere prayer of repentance and submission in his heart, a prayer of one simple sentence, something like, “Lord Jesus please forgive my sins and accept me”, and his life will immediately be changed for eternity, he will be Born-Again and become a follower of the Lord Jesus. If you have not done this as yet, then it is the Lord’s calling for you to do this now and change your eternal destiny for the better right now.
This receiving of forgiveness of sins and new spiritual birth is not the end of the process, but is the beginning of a new life. Receiving salvation, being Born-Again is a momentary act, accomplished forever, in a moment; but to learn to live this new life of salvation, and to practically demonstrate this life, is a life-long daily exercise of learning and endurance. The moment a person repents and prays for forgiveness of sins and submits his life to the Lord Jesus, many other heavenly things are added and begin for him from God; we will see about them in the coming articles. We have just seen that this, receiving salvation or being saved, is also known as being Born-Again; i.e., to be delivered from the perishable worldly life, and enter into an eternal and imperishable heavenly life. From the physical and worldly point of view, whatever be the person's age at that moment, but spiritually speaking, from this moment onwards, he is like a newborn infant. Just as the baby at birth, having come out of the cramped up and confined space in the mother’s womb, starts to freely move its limbs, breathe, take food, and start developing, starts to learn many things, starts growing to become an adult; similarly, this spiritually newborn infant, born out of the sin restricted world into the freedom of spiritual life, starts developing in this spiritual environment. But how soon and how much he can do so, depends upon his efforts and his living a life of submission and obedience to the Lord. The “spiritual food” or milk of that infant is the Word of God, which he has to keep taking and imbibing repeatedly with a clean heart, only then will he be able to grow sufficiently well, “Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as new-born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby” (1 Peter 2:1-2).
Just as a newborn infant has all the organs and body parts that a full grown, healthy and strong adult has, but since the infant’s body is not as strongly developed as that of an adult and has not yet become capable of doing what an adult can do; similarly, spiritually too, it takes time and effort for a spiritual infant to develop into a spiritual adult and become capable of doing various spiritual things properly and adequately. For this to happen, he needs to take a regular and proper supply of spiritual food, regularly engage in spiritual exercises, and be diligent in his efforts to grow spiritually. For him to be able to do this, God has made available many provisions and methods, which we will see in the subsequent articles. Through all this, the purpose of God is that all of His children, the saved, Born-Again people, would gradually conform to the likeness of His Son and our Savior the Lord Jesus Christ, “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord” (2 Corinthians 3:18). Since this transformation is gradual, progressive, and “from glory to glory”, i.e., bit by bit, therefore the saved and Born-Again person does not seem to be perfect and holy immediately or soon after being saved or being Born-Again; but he is on the way to progressively being transformed into the Lord’s likeness. Just as everybody falls ill or sick physically, thereby becomes weak, has to be treated to restore health and fitness and make them strong again, similarly in the spiritual life as well, many-a-times because of satanic ploys and attacks a saved and Born-Again person may become spiritually “ill or sick” and become weak. In such situations, he needs spiritual help, treatment, nourishment, encouragement to restore his spiritual health, and to make him spiritually strong and effective again.
To be Born-Again is to gain entry into spiritual life; it is taking the first step in the heavenly life with the Lord. Ahead of this is a lifetime of efforts, exercising and practicing of living the spiritual life. Along with these efforts, exercising and practicing for living the spiritual life also come spiritual blessings and joy, an indescribable satisfaction and sense of fulfillment; and once this physical life is over, there is always the assurance of a heavenly life, whose joys we cannot even imagine in our present life, “But as it is written: "Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him"” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
The Lord Jesus has done His part; He has made ready and available salvation with all the benefits freely to everyone; but have you accepted His offer? Have you taken His hand of love and grace extended towards you and the free gift He offers; or are you still determined to do that which no man can ever accomplish through his own efforts?
If you are still not Born-Again, have not obtained salvation, have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heart-felt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company, wants to see you blessed; but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
