पिछले सारांश में हमने यूहन्ना 16:8-11 के आधार पर पुनःअवलोकन किया था कि मसीही विश्वासी, पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता और मार्गदर्शन द्वारा, संसार के लोगों पर पाप, धार्मिकता, और न्याय के बारे में उन लोगों के विचार, व्यवहार, और धारणाओं की तुलना में मसीही शिक्षाओं और जीवन को रखता है, अपने जीवन से उन्हें प्रदर्शित करता है। संसार और मसीही विश्वास के मध्य का यह तुलनात्मक प्रकटीकरण, स्वतः ही संसार के लोगों को कायल करने के लिए पर्याप्त है। बाइबल के अनुसार यही अपने आप में मसीही विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति का प्रमाण है। इसके बाद प्रभु यीशु ने 12 पद में शिष्यों से कहा कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा आकर उन्हें उन बातों को बताएगा, जिन्हें वे अभी नहीं समझ सकते (जैसे कि प्रभु भोज से संबंधित यूहन्ना 6:60-66 की प्रभु की बात) किन्तु पवित्र आत्मा की उनमें उपस्थिति उन्हें उन बातों के ग्रहण करने और समझने के लिए सक्षम कर देगी।

(i) वह सब सत्य का मार्ग बताएगा;
(ii) वह अपनी ओर से नहीं कहेगा, परंतु जो कुछ सुनेगा, वही कहेगा;
(iii) वह आने वाली बातें बताएगा।
आज परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से बहुतायत से किए जाने वाले भ्रामक प्रचार, गलत शिक्षाओं, और मन-गढ़न्त बातों के संदर्भ में, उन बातों और शिक्षाओं को जाँचने और परखने, उनकी सत्यता को जानने और पहचानने के लिए, ऐसी शिक्षाओं और उनके प्रचारकों को स्वीकार अथवा अस्वीकार करने के लिए, ये तीनों बातें बहुत सहायक तथा महत्वपूर्ण हैं।
इनमें से पहली बात है कि पवित्र आत्मा मसीह के शिष्यों अर्थात मसीही विश्वासियों को ‘सब सत्य का मार्ग बताएगा’। आज पवित्र आत्मा के नाम पर गलत शिक्षाएं और व्यवहार सिखाने वाले सभी प्रचारक सामान्यतः परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा (1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17; याकूब 4:4) के विपरीत, सांसारिक सुख-समृद्धि-संपत्ति और शारीरिक चंगाई या लाभ प्राप्त करने ही की बातें करते हैं। उनके प्रचार में पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने (प्रेरितों 2:38), प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास द्वारा उद्धार पाने का प्रोत्साहन एवं अनिवार्यता (प्रेरितों 15:11; 16:31), प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य बनने और उससे होने वाले मन-परिवर्तन के बारे में (रोमियों 12:1-2; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:17), अपने आप को संसार में यात्री और परदेशी जानकर सांसारिक नहीं वरन स्वर्गीय वस्तुओं पर मन लगाने (1 पतरस 2:11; कुलुस्सियों 3:1-2), और मसीही विश्वास और सेवकाई में दुख आने और उठाने की अनिवार्यता (फिलिप्पियों 1:29; 2 तिमुथियुस 3:12), आदि, सुसमाचार की बातें या तो होती ही नहीं हैं, अथवा बहुत कम होती हैं। उनका प्रचार, और जीवन मुख्यतः पार्थिव, नश्वर, शारीरिक सुख-सुविधा की बातों से ही संबंधित होता है; और फिर भी वे यह सब पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से अथवा उनकी अगुवाई में होकर कहने का दावा करते हैं। जब कि पवित्र आत्मा के संबंध में ऐसी कोई शिक्षा, कोई बात परमेश्वर के वचन में कहीं नहीं दी गई है। तो फिर वह ‘सत्य का आत्मा’ जो केवल सत्य अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन और प्रभु यीशु की बातों का मार्ग बताता है, वह यह सब कैसे कर सकता है?
यूहन्ना 16:13 में पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य से संबंधित प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई दूसरी बात है कि वह अपनी ओर से नहीं कहेगा, परंतु जो कुछ सुनेगा, वही कहेगा। प्रभु की इस बात को तथा यह ध्यान रखते हुए कि परमेश्वर का वचन अपनी पूर्णता में लिखा जा चुका है, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्ग में स्थापित हो चुका है (भजन 119:89), यह कैसे संभव है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उस वचन के अतिरिक्त और कुछ नया किसी मनुष्य को बताए या सिखाए? यह तो उपरोक्त बातों के विरुद्ध होगा, उन्हें झूठ दिखाएगा - जो ‘सत्य के आत्मा’ पवित्र आत्मा के गुणों के विरुद्ध है। पवित्र आत्मा के द्वारा नई बातें, नए दर्शन, नई शिक्षाएं आदि पाने के सभी दावे प्रभु के इस वचन के अनुसार झूठे हैं; और मसीही विश्वासियों तथा सेवकों को झूठ के प्रचारकों से बच कर रहना है (2 यूहन्ना 1:10-11)। बाइबल से संबंधित किसी भी सिद्धांत को स्वीकार करने से पहले (1 थिस्सलुनीकियों 5:21), उसे तीन बातों के आधार पर जाँच लेना चाहिए; ये बातें हैं - i. उसे सुसमाचारों में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा प्रचार किया गया; ii. उसको प्रेरितों के काम में व्यावहारिक मसीही या मण्डली के जीवन में प्रदर्शित किया गया; iii. पत्रियों में उसकी व्याख्या की गई या उसके विषय सिखाया गया। जिस बात में ये तीनों गुण नहीं हैं, उसे तुरंत स्वीकार नहीं करना चाहिए; बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान (प्रेरितों 17:11) वचन से यह देखना चाहिए कि जो कहा और बताया जा रहा है, वास्तव में पवित्र शास्त्र में वैसा ही लिखा है या नहीं - यह खरे आत्मिक व्यक्ति का चिह्न है 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:15।
यूहन्ना 16:13 की पवित्र आत्मा के कार्य से संबंधित तीसरी बात है कि वह “तुम्हें” अर्थात प्रभु के शिष्यों को आने वाली बातें बताएगा। प्रभु की यह बात पवित्र आत्मा के नाम पर कुछ भी कहने और उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से दी गई “भविष्यवाणी” होने का दावा करने की छूट नहीं है। यदि नए नियम की बातों के आधार पर इस बात को देखें, तो इस बात का जो अर्थ सामने आता है वह है कि पवित्र आत्मा मसीही सेवकाई और सुसमाचार प्रचार के दौरान शिष्यों को आने वाली बातों को बताता है, अर्थात उन्हें सचेत रखता था। ऐसा बिलकुल नहीं था कि पवित्र आत्मा लोगों को अपना ढिंढोरा पीटने और अपने आप को लोगों के सामने भविष्यद्वक्ता दिखा कर वाह-वाही लूटने के लिए कहता था। वरन वह सुसमाचार प्रचार में लगे प्रभु के शिष्यों को हर परिस्थिति के लिए तैयार और आगाह रखता था, जो शिष्यों की सेवकाई के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात थी (प्रेरितों 9:16; 13:4; 20:22-23; 21:4, 11; 23:16)। दूसरी बात, यदि लोगों द्वारा “पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से” मिली और की जा रही भविष्यवाणियों के विषयों को देखें, और उनके पूरा होने का आँकलन करें, तो स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि उन “भविष्यवाणियों” के विषय और सामग्री, सामान्यतः परमेश्वर के वचन से बाहर या अतिरिक्त होते हैं - जो, जैसा हम ऊपर देख चुके हैं, पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से किया जाना संभव नहीं है। साथ ही यदि उन “भविष्यवाणियों” के पूरे होने के आधार पर आँकलन करें, तो उनमें से शायद ही कोई बात पूरी होती है. इस बारे में यद् हम उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा से देखें, तो व्यवस्थाविवरण 18:20-22 में लिखा है कि “भविष्यवाणियों” का पूरा न होना इस बात का प्रमाण है कि वे परमेश्वर की ओर से नहीं हैं, और ऐसे नबियों को मार डालना चाहिए। किन्तु आज लोग ऐसे झूठे प्रचारकों को बहुत आदर और सम्मान देते हैं; उनकी झूठी शिक्षाओं के लिए उनकी आलोचना भी सहन नहीं करना चाहते हैं, वरन उन गलत, शारीरिक, और सांसारिक बातों को ही सत्य मान कर चलते हैं।
फिर यूहन्ना 16:14-15 में प्रभु ने एक बार फिर इस बात को दोहराया कि पवित्र आत्मा केवल प्रभु यीशु ही की बातों में से कहेगा और सिखाएगा। अर्थात, चाहे कोई भी कुछ भी क्यों न कहता रहे, कोई भी अद्भुत बात ‘प्रमाण’ के रूप में क्यों न दिखाता रहे, प्रभु यीशु द्वारा वचन में दे दी गई शिक्षाओं और बातों से अधिक या बाहर जो कुछ भी है, वह न तो प्रभु यीशु की ओर से है, और न पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से। इसलिए प्रभु की शिक्षाओं से अतिरिक्त और बाहर की किसी भी शिक्षा या व्यवहार को स्वीकार नहीं करना है। यहाँ परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा का एक और कार्य को बताया गया है - वह प्रभु यीशु की महिमा करेगा। आज पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से फैलाई जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं को सिखाने और फैलाने वाले बहुत दृढ़ता से यह दावा करते हैं कि उन्हें यह सब पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से मिला है, और वे इसके लिए पवित्र आत्मा की महिमा करने पर बल देते हैं, तथा उन प्रचारकों के स्वयं के जीवन, व्यवहार, और शिक्षाओं में, पवित्र आत्मा के नाम के उपयोग की तुलना में, प्रभु यीशु का नाम और उनकी शिक्षाओं तथा कार्यों का उल्लेख और महत्व बहुत कम होता है। वे लोगों को भी यही बताते और सिखाते हैं कि वे भी पवित्र आत्मा से उनके समान बातों तथा व्यवहार को प्राप्त करने की माँग करें। ये लोग पवित्र आत्मा की महिमा करने पर बहुत बल देते हैं, और अपनी इस बात को पवित्र आत्मा से सीखा हुआ बताते है। जबकि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने साफ, सीधे शब्दों में, बिलकुल स्पष्ट, दो-टूक कहा है कि पवित्र आत्मा अपनी नहीं वरन प्रभु की महिमा करेगा! प्रभु की यह बात हमारे सामने मसीही विश्वास की शिक्षाओं का आँकलन करने का एक और मापदंड रखती है - मसीही विश्वास और सेवकाई से संबंधित जो भी शिक्षा अथवा व्यवहार प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर केंद्रित न हो, प्रभु यीशु को महिमा न दे; बल्कि प्रभु यीशु और उनके क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान, पुनरुत्थान, और सुसमाचार की बजाए किसी अन्य की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित करे, उसे महिमित करने का प्रयास करे, वह परमेश्वर प्रभु की ओर से नहीं है; चाहे उस महिमा का विषय परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ही क्यों न हो। पवित्र आत्मा का कार्य प्रभु यीशु की महिमा करना है; वह अपनी महिमा नहीं करवाता है, और न ही ऐसी कोई शिक्षा या व्यवहार सिखाता है जो प्रभु यीशु की महिमा न करे, या करने पर ध्यान न दे, अथवा वचन के विरुद्ध हो।
यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो यह आपके लिए अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विषय वचन में दी गई शिक्षाओं को गंभीरता से सीखें, समझें और उनका पालन करें; और सत्य को जान तथा समझ कर ही उचित और उपयुक्त व्यवहार करें, सही शिक्षाओं का प्रचार करें। आपको अपनी हर बात का हिसाब प्रभु को देना होगा (मत्ती 12:36-37)। जब वचन आपके हाथ में है, वचन को सिखाने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा आपके साथ है, तो फिर बिना जाँचे और परखे गलत शिक्षाओं में फँस जाने, तथा मनुष्यों और उनके समुदायों और शिक्षाओं को आदर देते रहने के लिए उन गलत शिक्षाओं में बने रहने के लिए क्या आप प्रभु परमेश्वर को कोई उत्तर दे सकेंगे?
यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

Recapitulation and Summary - (5) – He Glorifies the Lord Jesus
In the previous article while recapitulating and summarizing, on the basis of John 16:8-11 we had recapitulated that God the Holy Spirit, through His help and guidance of the Christian Believer in Christian living, puts before the people of the world the Christian teachings and viewpoint regarding sin, righteousness, and judgment; which is in direct contrast to the ideology, behavior, and notions of the world, and convicts the people of the world about these things. According to God’s Word the Bible, this is a proof of the presence of the Holy Spirit in the Christian Believer. Then, after this, in verse 12 the Lord Jesus told the disciples that the Holy Spirit, after He comes in them, will tell them things that they yet cannot understand (e.g., the Lord’s teaching about the Holy Communion in John 6:60-66); the presence of the Holy Spirit in them will enable them to accept and understand those things.
Then, in verse 13, once again the Lord Jesus called the Holy Spirit “the Spirit of Truth”; i.e., everything about Him, everything He says, is the only the truth, and He talks only about the way of truth; He never associates in any way with anything that is not the truth. The Lord Jesus also assured “them”, i.e., His disciples, that the Holy Spirit will do three more things in their ministry:
(i) He will guide you into all truth;
(ii) He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;
(iii) He will tell you things to come.
Today, in view of the rampant wrong teachings, preaching, doctrines, contrived things about the Holy Spirit, these three things are very essential and helpful in examining and evaluating all that is being said, taught, and done in the name of the Holy Spirit, for properly discerning, and coming to the correct conclusions about the teachings.
The first of these three things is that the Holy Spirit will guide the disciples of Christ Jesus into all truth. The teachers and preachers of false doctrines, wrong teachings, and unBiblical behavior related to the Holy Spirit, contrary to God’s Word (1 John 2:15-17; James 4:4) mostly, and very emphatically preach and talk about worldly prosperity, wealth, and comforts, and physical healings. There is hardly any mention or emphasis on teaching and preaching about repentance from sins (Acts 2:38), encouraging people to learn and understand the necessity of salvation by faith in the Lord Jesus (Acts 15:11; 16:31); about the imperativeness of people becoming the disciples of the Lord Jesus and having a change of heart and mind (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17); about the Christian Believers considering themselves as pilgrims and strangers in this world and not getting entangled in earthly things, but putting their hearts in heavenly things (1 Peter 2:11; Colossians 3:1-2); and the inescapable fact of suffering persecution and problems for everyone engaged in Christian Ministry (Philippians 1:29; 2 Timothy 3:12), etc. In their preaching and teaching the Gospel is either just not mentioned, or mentioned very cursorily. Their preaching, and the example of their lives is mainly related to temporal, worldly, physical amenities and things; and yet they claim that they have all this from the Holy Spirit! Whereas, nowhere in the Bible any such teaching related to the Holy Spirit has ever been given. So, then, how can the “Spirit of Truth”, who only tells and teaches the Word of God and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, how can He tell them all these unBiblical things?
The second thing regarding the work of the Holy Spirit said by the Lord Jesus in John 16:13 is that the Holy Spirit will not speak on His own authority, but will only say what He hears. Keeping in mind this statement of the Lord, and the fact that the Word of God has been written down in its entirety and established forever in heaven (Psalm 119:89), how is it at all possible that the Holy Spirit will tell or teach to anyone anything other than or outside of that Word? This, if it happens, will be contrary to the aforementioned things, will be a lie - which is against the characteristics of the Holy Spirit. In the light of this statement of the Lord Jesus, all claims of receiving new teachings, new visions, new things from the Holy Spirit are absolutely false; and Christian Believers and Ministers should stay away and safe from all false teachers and preachers (2 John 1:10-11). Before accepting any doctrine to be Biblical, it should be carefully examined and verified (1 Thessalonians 5:21). A safe and convenient way of doing this is by checking it out for three characteristics: i. It should have been preached by the Lord Jesus in the Gospels; ii. It should have been practiced and demonstrated in practical life of the Christian Believers and the Church in the Book of Acts; iii. It should have been expounded upon in the letters. Any teaching or doctrine, not possessing all of these three characteristics, should never be immediately accepted, but like the Berean Believers (Acts 17:11) it should be carefully evaluated and verified from the Word of God; doing this is a sign of a mature spiritual person (1 Corinthians 2:15).
The third things in John 16:13 related to the working of the Holy Spirit is that he foretells to the Lord’s disciples the coming events. This statement of the Lord is not a license to say anything that comes to one’s mind, or “prophecy” in the name of the Holy Spirit. If we consider this statement in light of the events and experiences from the New Testament, the evident meaning is that the Holy Spirit would forewarn the Christian Believers about the coming events in their ministry and keep them alert about the coming things. It was absolutely not to be that the Holy Spirit would encourage or prod the people to ‘blow their own trumpet’, present themselves as “prophets” to the people, and garner praise, glory, and prominence from the people. Instead, He would keep the disciples of the Lord who were engaged in the preaching and propagation of the Gospel prepared and ready for the coming situations, which was a very important help for the ministry of the disciples (Acts 9:16; 13:4; 20:22-23; 21:4, 11; 23:16). Another important thing to take note of is that today, if one looks at the topics of the “prophecies” being claimed to have come from the Holy Spirit, and take an account of their being fulfilled, then it becomes quite evident that the topics and contents of those prophecies are usually and mostly unBiblical - which, as we have seen above, is absolutely inconsistent of their being from the Holy Spirit. Also, when we evaluate them on the grounds of their being fulfilled, then hardly any such “prophecy” has ever been actually fulfilled. When we see the teaching of God’s Word about this, then we learn from Deuteronomy 18:20-22 that “prophecies” not being fulfilled is a proof of their not being from God and such prophets were to be killed. But today, such false prophets and teachers of wrong things are greatly honored and exalted by people; their false teachings and wrong doctrines are given great credibility, and value; and people cannot tolerate any attempt to analyze or criticize what they say and do.
Then once again, in John 16:14-15, it has been repeated again that the Holy Spirit will only speak and teach from what the Lord has already said. In other words, no matter what anyone says and does, and whatever miraculous or extra-ordinary works one may present as a “proof”, whatever is not from God’s Word, anything extra-Biblical or unBiblical, is neither from the Lord nor from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, no teaching or behavior that has not been said by the Lord should be believed or accepted. Here, in these verses another work of the Holy Spirit has also been mentioned - He will glorify the Lord Jesus. Today the preachers and teachers of wrong things, behavior, and doctrine very emphatically state that they have received it all from the Holy Spirit, so they emphasize on glorifying the Holy Spirit for it all. Also, in the lives, behavior, preaching and teachings of these people, the use and glorification of the name of the Lord Jesus is very little, in comparison to their glorifying the Holy Spirit. These false teachers teach the people to ask the Holy Spirit to give them a life, things, and behavior like them; they put a lot of emphasis on glorifying the Holy Spirit, and claim that they have learnt this from the Holy Spirit. Whereas, the Lord Jesus, in simple, clear words, unambiguously has stated that the Holy Spirit will not glorify Himself, but will glorify the Lord Jesus. This statement of the Lord provides us with another standard to evaluate and discern Christian teachings - any teachings related to the Christian Faith, life, and behavior, that is not centered on the Lord Jesus, does not glorify the Lord, instead of drawing attention of the people towards the Lord Jesus and His sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary, His death and resurrection, His gospel, diverts their attention to something or someone else, glorifies someone else, then it is not from the Lord God; even if the subject of that glorification is the Holy Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus; He never glorifies Himself, nor does He teach any such thing or behavior that does not glorify the Lord Jesus, does not draw attention towards the Lord Jesus, or is contrary to the Word of God.
If you are a Christian Believer, then it is mandatory for you to learn the teachings related to the Holy Spirit from the Word of God, seriously ponder over them, understand them, and obey them. You should learn the truth and accordingly live and behave appropriately and worthily, and should teach only the truth from the Bible. You will have to give an account of everything you say to the Lord Jesus (Matthew 12:36-37). When you have God’s Word in your hand, and the Holy Spirit is there with you to teach you, then how will you be able to answer for yourself for getting deceived by wrong doctrines and false preaching and teachings? How will you justify your giving honor to the persons, sects, and denominations teaching and preaching wrong things in the name of the Holy Spirit, and continuing in their false teachings?
If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.
If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
