पाप क्या है? - 2

    पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन, बाइबल, में परमेश्वर ने बताया है कि परमेश्वर की पवित्रता एवं निर्मलता के स्तर के अनुसार पाप मनुष्यों के नियमों या बातों का नहीं, वरन परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन है; और हर प्रकार का अधर्म पाप है - वह चाहे किसी भी परिस्थिति के अंतर्गत अथवा उद्देश्य से क्यों न किया गया हो। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में केवल शारीरिक कार्य ही पाप नहीं हैं; वरन मन की वे सभी भावनाएं, विचार, दृष्टिकोण, इच्छाएं, आदि, जो परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के विरुद्ध हैं, उससे असंगत हैं, और जो किसी भी प्रकार के अधर्म के लिए उकसाती या प्रेरित करती हैं, वे भी पाप हैं। चाहे वे बाहरी रीति से व्यक्त न भी की गई हों, या शारीरिक कार्यों के द्वारा कार्यान्वित न भी की गई हों, तो भी, परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में वे उतना ही जघन्य पाप हैं, जितना उनके बाहरी प्रकटीकरण अथवा शारीरिक कार्यों में व्यक्त होने के द्वारा माना जाता। अर्थात, मन में पापमय विचार रखना भी शरीर द्वारा उस पाप को कर देने के समान ही पाप है। परमेश्वर, उस पापमय विचार को मन में स्थान देने को, उस पाप को अपने जीवन में स्थान देने के तुल्य दण्डनीय मानता है, और उसके अनुसार ही व्यक्ति का आँकलन करता है। 

    पाप, पवित्रता, और निर्मलता का यह सर्वोच्च स्तर, संसार भर में अनुपम है। यह मापदण्ड केवल बाइबल में, और केवल बाइबल के परमेश्वर में देखने को मिलता है। संसार के किसी भी अन्य ग्रंथ अथवा मान्यताओं में पवित्रता का, निष्पाप होने का ऐसा उच्च स्तर देखने को नहीं मिलता है। एक बार को इस स्तर को स्वीकार करना, इसका पालन करना बहुत अटपटा लगता है, क्योंकि किसी भी मनुष्य के लिए इसके सामने खड़े रह पाना, इसका निर्वाह कर पाना असंभव है। इसलिए ऐसा लगता है कि परमेश्वर ने जान-बूझकर मनुष्यों के सामने एक असंभव बात ला कर रख दी, और मनुष्यों को इन अजेय मानकों के द्वारा ऐसा दोषी ठहरा दिया कि उनके लिए उस के पास कभी कोई समाधान हो ही नहीं सकता है। क्या परमेश्वर ने जान-बूझकर मनुष्य को वास्तव में ऐसी स्थिति में लाकर खड़ा कर दिया है जो मनुष्य के लिए असंभव है?

    यदि बाइबल में दिए गए पाप के आरंभ को देखें, उसकी पृष्ठभूमि का अध्ययन करें, तो यह स्पष्ट होता है कि इन मानकों को स्थापित करने के द्वारा परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को फँसाया नहीं है, वरन उसे पाप से निकल पाने का मार्ग समझने के लिए तैयार किया है, मनुष्य को उसके प्रति परमेश्वर के असीम, अवर्णनीय प्रेम की ओर मुड़ने और समर्पित होने के लिए मार्ग दिया है। बाइबल के अनुसार, मनुष्य द्वारा किया गया पहला पाप क्या था; और कैसे हुआ? यह वृतांत हमको बाइबल की पहली पुस्तक, उत्पत्ति, के पहले तीन अध्यायों में मिलता है, और पाठक यदि इन अध्यायों को स्वयं पढ़ लें, तो उनके लिए बात को समझना और सहज हो जाएगा। संक्षेप में, परमेश्वर ने छः दिन में सृष्टि की रचना पूरी करने के बाद उसका अवलोकन करके उसे “बहुत ही अच्छा” कहा (उत्पत्ति 1:31)। परमेश्वर की इस बहुत ही अच्छी रचना में मनुष्य भी सम्मिलित था, जिसे परमेश्वर ने शेष सृष्टि के समान अपने शब्द के बोलने के द्वारा नहीं, वरन अपने हाथों से रचा, और उसमें अपनी श्वास डालकर उसे जीवित प्राणी बनाया (उत्पत्ति 1:27; 2:7)। सृष्टि और मनुष्य की उत्पत्ति के समय पृथ्वी पर कोई पाप नहीं था। मनुष्य सृष्टि से ही नर और नारी, जिन्हें आदम और हव्वा नाम दिया गया, रूप में था; परमेश्वर ने उसके लिए उस “बहुत ही अच्छी” पृथ्वी पर, एक वाटिका भी लगाई, जहाँ पर परमेश्वर आदम और हव्वा से संगति करने के लिए आता था; और उन्हें उस वाटिका की देखभाल की ज़िम्मेदारी भी दी। उस वाटिका में परमेश्वर ने दो विशेष वृक्ष भी लगाए; एक था “जीवन का वृक्ष,” और दूसरा था “भले और बुरे के ज्ञान का वृक्ष” (उत्पत्ति 2:9)। परमेश्वर ने मनुष्य को वाटिका के सभी फलों को खाने की खुली छूट दी, किन्तु “भले और बुरे के ज्ञान का वृक्ष” के फल को खाने से मना किया (उत्पत्ति 2:16-17), और सचेत किया कि जिस दिन उसने उस फल को खाया, वह मृत्यु के अधीन आ जाएगा।

    उत्पत्ति 3 अध्याय में हम देखते हैं कि शैतान ने मनुष्य को अपने जाल में फँसाने, और उसे पाप में गिराने, परमेश्वर से पृथक कर देने के लिए सर्प का रूप लिया, और हव्वा के मन में परमेश्वर के विरुद्ध शंका उत्पन्न की; उसके मन में उनके प्रति परमेश्वर के प्रेम के विषय संदेह उत्पन्न किया; उसके मन में परमेश्वर की आज्ञाकारिता के अनुसार नहीं, वरन अपनी ही दृष्टि, बुद्धि, और समझ के अनुसार जागृत होने वाली भावनाओं और विचारों को कार्यान्वित करने को उकसाया। हव्वा शैतान के इस प्रलोभन में आ गई, उसने परमेश्वर द्वारा उन्हे दी गई व्यवस्था का पालन नहीं किया; वरन वह किया जो उसका मन उसे कहने लग गया था; और उसने “भले और बुरे के ज्ञान का वृक्ष” के फल को लेकर स्वयं भी खा लिया, और आदम को भी खिला दिया (उत्पत्ति 3:6-7)। उनकी यह परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था के प्रति अनाज्ञाकारिता ही संसार का प्रथम पाप थी। पाप उस फल में नहीं था; पाप उस फल के प्रति परमेश्वर के निर्देशों का पालन न करने से था। ध्यान कीजिए, शैतान ने उन्हें पाप करने के लिए बाध्य नहीं किया, किसी बात द्वारा उन्हें डरा या धमका कर उनसे पाप नहीं करवाया; वरन उनके मनों में परमेश्वर के नियम, उसकी व्यवस्था के प्रति संदेह उत्पन्न किया; उन्हें परमेश्वर की योजनाओं और बातों के विरुद्ध उकसा कर उनके मनों में परमेश्वर के कहे कि विपरीत विचार उत्पन्न किए, और फिर अपनी चिकनी-चुपड़ी बातों के द्वारा उन्हें उनके मन के विचारों, मनों की बात, उनके मनों में जागृत लालच और अभिलाषा को कार्यान्वित करने के लिए आगे बढ़ा दिया। आदम और हव्वा के द्वारा अपने मन की सुनने के कारण पाप ने पृथ्वी में और सृष्टि में प्रवेश किया (रोमियों 8:19-22), और उसके दुष्परिणाम हम आज तक झेल रहे हैं। 

    इसीलिए, परमेश्वर ने अपने वचन में लिखवाया है कि पाप परमेश्वर की व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन है; और परमेश्वर मन में आने वाले पापमय विचारों को भी शरीर में किए गए पाप के समान ही जघन्य और दण्डनीय मानता है। वास्तविकता यही है कि शरीर में किया गया हर पाप पहले हमारे मन, ध्यान, भावनाओं, और विचारों में जन्म लेता तथा निवास करता है; एक लालसा, एक अभिलाषा बनकर हमारे अंदर घर किए रहता है, पलता रहता है, हमें अंदर ही अंदर उसे कार्यान्वित करने के लिए तैयार करता रहता है। और फिर उपयुक्त समय तथा अवसर मिलने पर हम उस पाप को अपने शरीर द्वारा कार्यान्वित कर देते हैं; पाप तो हम में उस पापमय विचार के साथ ही आ गया था, बस प्रकट समय और अवसर के अनुसार कुछ समय पश्चात हुआ। यदि मन में पापमय बातों को जन्म ही नहीं लेने दिया जाए, या उत्पन्न होते ही उन्हें तुरंत मिटा दिया जाए, तो शरीर भी पाप का व्यवहार नहीं करेगा। इसीलिए प्रभु यीशु हमारे मनों को बदलता है; प्रभु यीशु मसीह को उद्धारकर्ता स्वीकार करने वाले व्यक्ति के अंदर, उसकी सहायता और मार्गदर्शन के लिए, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा आकर निवास करने लगता है।

वास्तविकता यही है कि मन ही शरीर को नियंत्रित करता है; न कि शरीर मन को। शरीर के कार्यों और प्रयासों के द्वारा मन को स्थाई रीति से नियंत्रित तथा परिवर्तित कर पाना असंभव है। प्रभु यीशु मसीह जब व्यक्ति के मन को बदलता है, तो साथ ही शरीर के कार्य और व्यवहार भी उस बदले हुए मन को प्रतिबिंबित करने लग जाते हैं। यदि आपने आज तक प्रभु यीशु मसीह को आपका मन परिवर्तित करने की अनुमति नहीं दी है, तो आप अभी, इसी समय स्वेच्छा, और सच्चे तथा समर्पित मन से की गई एक छोटी प्रार्थना, “हे प्रभु यीशु, मैं मान लेता हूँ कि मैंने मन, ध्यान, भावनाओं, विचार, और व्यवहार में आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता की है, पाप किया है। मैं स्वीकार करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों को अपने ऊपर लेकर उनके दण्ड को मेरे स्थान पर सह लिया, मेरे पापों की पूरी कीमत क्रूस पर दिए गए अपने बलिदान के द्वारा चुका दी है। कृपया मेरे पाप क्षमा करें, मेरे मन को बदलें, मुझे अपना आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनाएं, और अपने साथ बना कर रखें” के द्वारा कर सकते हैं, पापों के दुष्परिणामों से मुक्त होकर अनन्त आशीष के स्वर्गीय जीवन में प्रवेश कर सकते हैं।

English Translation

What Is Sin? - 2

In the previous article we saw that in God's Word, the Bible, God stated that according to God's standard of holiness and purity, sin is a violation of God's law; and not of the laws or things of man. And every unrighteousness is sin - no matter what the circumstances in which it was committed, or the purpose behind doing it. We also saw that in the eyes of God, sin is not only the physical acts or committed deeds; but all those feelings, thoughts, attitudes, desires, etc. of the mind, which are against the law of God, inconsistent with it, and which incite or inspire any kind of iniquity, are also sins. Even if they are not manifestly committed, i.e., have not yet been carried out physically, they still are as heinous sins in the eyes of God as they would be by their outward manifestation or being done through bodily actions. That is, having sinful thoughts in the mind is as much a sin as committing those sins by the body. God considers giving sinful thoughts a place in the mind to be just as punishable as giving place to that sin in one's life, and judges the person accordingly.

This highest level of sin, holiness, and purity is unmatched in the world. This standard is found only in the Bible, and only in the God of the Bible. In no other scriptures or beliefs of the world, is such a high level of holiness, of being sinless, ever seen. At a first glance, accepting this standard, and adhering to it to live by it, seems very awkward, because it is practically impossible for any human being to stand before it, and to live by it. So, it appears that God has deliberately placed impossible standards before men, and then judged men to be guilty by these unattainable standards, knowing that no man could ever have an answer for them. Has God deliberately placed man into an impossible position, into something actually beyond the capabilities of man?

If we look at the origin of sin in the Bible, and study its background, it is clear that by setting these standards, God has not trapped man, but prepared him to understand the way out of sin. God has given man the way to turn and surrender to His infinite, indescribable love for Him, and be delivered from his sin. What, according to the Bible, was the first sin committed by man; and how did it happen? We find this account in the first three chapters of the first book of the Bible, Genesis, and readers will find it easier to understand if they read these chapters for themselves. In short, God, having completed the creation of the universe in six days, saw it and called it "very good" (Genesis 1:31). Man too, whom, unlike the rest of creation, God had created not by speaking His word, but with His own hands and by breathing His breath into him had made him into a living creature (Genesis 1:27; 2:7), was included in this very good creation of God.  At the time of creation of the universe and of man, there was no sin on earth. Human beings were created as male and female, and were named Adam and Eve. God even planted a garden for them on the "very good" earth, and God used to come there to fellowship with Adam and Eve. God also gave them the responsibility of taking care of that garden. God also planted two special trees in that garden; One was the "tree of life," and the other was the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:9). God gave man a free hand to eat all the fruits of the Garden, but forbade the fruit of "the tree of the knowledge of good and evil" (Genesis 2:16–17), and warned that the day he eats its fruit, he will come under the dominion of death.

In Genesis 3 we see that Satan took the form of a serpent to ensnare man and make him fall into sin, separate him from God. Satan made doubts arise against God in Eve's mind; raised doubts in her mind about God's love for them; incited her to live and do according to the feelings and thoughts that arose in her heart and mind, instead of being obedient to God, to act according to her own sight, intelligence, and understanding. Eve succumbed to this temptation of Satan, disobeyed the instruction given to her by God; did what came in her heart; and ate the fruit of the "tree of the knowledge of good and evil," herself, and gave it to Adam as well (Genesis 3:6-7). Their disobedience of God's instructions was the first sin of the world. The sin was not in that fruit; the sin was in their not following God's instructions about that fruit. Notice, Satan didn't force them to sin, he didn't make them sin by intimidating or threatening them; but did so by raising doubts in their hearts about the law of God, about His instructions to them. By first inciting them against the plans and things of God, by creating in their heart thoughts contrary to the thoughts of God, and then by means of his smooth talk, prodding them to act according to the thoughts of their heart and minds, according to the greed and desire that he awakened in their hearts and mind. Because Adam and Eve listened to their hearts and mind, instead of God; therefore, sin entered the earth and into the creation (Romans 8:19–22), and we are suffering the consequences to this day.

Therefore, God has written in His Word that sin is a violation of God's law. And therefore  God considers harboring sinful thoughts in the mind to be just as heinous and punishable, as sins actually committed in the flesh. The reality is that every sin committed in the body first takes birth and continues to reside in our mind, attitudes, feelings, and thoughts; and there it keeps on growing within us as a longing, a desire; it keeps on preparing us from within to fulfill it. And then whenever there is an opportune time, an appropriate opportunity, we end up executing that sin through our body. Sin had come to live in us with that sinful thought, it only manifested itself after some time, according to the circumstances and occasion. If sinful thoughts are not allowed to find place in the mind, or if they are immediately eradicated as soon as they sprout, then the body will also not have the desire to commit sin. That is why the Lord Jesus changes not our externals, but our hearts where sin takes roots. In the heart of the person who accepts the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior, God's Holy Spirit comes and dwells to help and guide him against letting sin find a place in his heart.

The evident reality is that it is the mind that controls the body; and not that the body controls the mind. Therefore, it is impossible to control and change the mind in a permanent way, through the acts and efforts of the body. When the Lord Jesus Christ changes the mind of a person, the actions and behavior of the body also start to reflect the changed mind. If you have not yet allowed the Lord Jesus Christ to change your mind, you can now, right now, willingly, and with a sincere and submitted heart, say a short prayer, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have, disobeyed you in attitudes, feelings, thoughts, and behavior, and have sinned. I believe and accept that you took my sins on yourself and suffered their punishment in my place, paying the full price for my sins through your sacrifice on the cross. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind, make me your obedient disciple, and keep me with you.” Repentance from sins and submission to the Lord Jesus will immediately set you free from the consequences of sins and give you entry to a heavenly life of eternal blessing as a child of God.

    पिछले तीन सप्ताह से हम देखते आ रहे हैं कि बाइबल मनुष्यों की कल्पनाओं, धारणाओं, विचारों, और प्रयासों से रची गई पुस्तक नहीं है, वरन संसार की अन्य सभी पुस्तकों से, सभी ग्रंथों से पृथक, अद्भुत, विलक्षण, और अनुपम रचना है, जो अपने लेखों और गुणों के द्वारा अपने आप को प्रमाणित करती है कि वह वास्तव में सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर द्वारा सारे संसार के दृष्टिकोण से, हर काल-समय में कार्यकारी, संसार के सभी लोगों की भलाई और उपयोग के लिए लिखवाया गया सच्चा विश्वासयोग्य वचन है। इस वर्तमान श्रृंखला के आरंभिक लेख (अप्रैल - 19 - परमेश्वर का वचन – बाइबल – परिचय) में हमने देखा था कि बाइबल मनुष्य के प्रति परमेश्वर के प्रेम, मनुष्य के पाप में गिरकर परमेश्वर से दूर हो जाने, और मनुष्य की इस पाप में पतित स्थिति में भी उसके प्रति परमेश्वर के प्रेम की अभिव्यक्ति है। 

बाइबल बताती है कि किस प्रकार मनुष्य की अपने साथ संगति को बहाल करने के लिए परमेश्वर ने साधारण, सामान्य, निर्धन मनुष्य - यीशु के रूप में पृथ्वी पर जन्म लिया, उन्होंने एक निष्पाप, निष्कलंक जीवन बिताया, और समस्त मानव जाति के पापों को अपने ऊपर लेकर, उनके दण्ड, मृत्यु, को भी अपनी ऊपर ले लिया; वह सभी मनुष्यों के स्थान पर क्रूस पर बलिदान हुए, मारे गए, गाड़े गए, और तीसरे दिन फिर मृतकों में से जी उठे। उस लेख में हमने देखा था कि मनुष्य और परमेश्वर की संगति में बाधा उत्पन्न, एक को दूसरे से पृथक करने वाली समस्या पाप है; और पाप का निवारण, उसका परमेश्वर और मनुष्य के मध्य से हटाया जाना ही इस समस्या का समाधान है। आज से हम इन बातों को थोड़ा और विस्तार से देखना आरंभ करेंगे। विनम्र निवेदन है कि कृपया उस प्रथम लेख को एक बार फिर पढ़ लें, जिससे आगे के लिए सहज हो जाए।

 

    आज हम परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार पाप क्या है, इस पर विचार आरंभ करेंगे। सामान्यतः लोग समझते हैं कि पाप करने का अर्थ है शारीरिक रीति से कोई जघन्य अपराध करना, जैसे कि हत्या, व्यभिचार, चोरी-डकैती, लूट, धोखा, इत्यादि। सामान्य प्रयोग में अभद्र भाषा, छिछोरा व्यवहार या वार्तालाप, बिना कुछ भी कहे किसी को कुदृष्टि से देखना, सामान्य व्यवहार में झूठ बोलने अथवा बहाने बनाने या बात को छिपाने, उसे उसकी सच्चाई से भिन्न स्वरूप में व्यक्त करने आदि को लोग आम तौर से पाप नहीं मानते हैं। कुछ तो यह भी कहते हैं कि किसी की भलाई के लिए यदि इस प्रकार का व्यवहार कर भी लिया जाए तो वह भला कार्य ही है, कोई पाप नहीं है। इसलिए ऐसी बातों के लिए चिंतित नहीं होना चाहिए, उन्हें लेकर किसी असमंजस में नहीं पड़ना चाहिए। किन्तु ये मनुष्यों की धारणाएं हैं, मनुष्यों द्वारा अपनी सुविधा और आवश्यकता के अनुसार, अपने आप को संतुष्ट रखने के लिए अपने मन से गढ़ी गई बातें हैं। इनमें से कोई भी बात बाइबल के पवित्र निष्पाप सृष्टिकर्ता परमेश्वर द्वारा दी गई पाप की परिभाषा और व्याख्या से मेल नहीं खाती है। 

बाइबल के अनुसार पाप, मूलतः, परमेश्वर के नियमों, उसकी व्यवस्था का उल्लंघन करना है “जो कोई पाप करता है, वह व्यवस्था का विरोध करता है; ओर पाप तो व्यवस्था का विरोध है” (1 यूहन्ना 3:4); किसी भी प्रकार का अधर्म पाप है “सब प्रकार का अधर्म तो पाप है . . .” (1 यूहन्ना 5:17), वह चाहे किसी भी रीति से, किसी भी बात या परिस्थिति के अन्तर्गत, किसी भी उद्देश्य से क्यों न किया गया हो। बाइबल के अनुसार पाप में होना एक मानसिक दशा है; पाप का निवास, उसकी जड़ मनुष्य के मन में है; उसके बाहरी प्रकटीकरण का आरंभ मनुष्य के मन में से ही होता है, और उचित परिस्थितियों एवँ समय में वह शारीरिक क्रियाओं में प्रकट हो जाता है:

• याकूब 1:14-15 “परन्तु प्रत्येक व्यक्ति अपनी ही अभिलाषा में खिंच कर, और फंस कर परीक्षा में पड़ता है। फिर अभिलाषा गर्भवती हो कर पाप को जनती है और पाप जब बढ़ जाता है तो मृत्यु को उत्पन्न करता है।”

• मरकुस 7:20-23 “फिर उसने कहा; जो मनुष्य में से निकलता है, वही मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करता है। क्योंकि भीतर से अर्थात मनुष्य के मन से, बुरी बुरी चिन्ता, व्यभिचार। चोरी, हत्या, परस्त्रीगमन, लोभ, दुष्टता, छल, लुचपन, कुदृष्टि, निन्दा, अभिमान, और मूर्खता निकलती हैं। ये सब बुरी बातें भीतर ही से निकलती हैं और मनुष्य को अशुद्ध करती हैं।”

• गलतियों 5:19-21 “शरीर के काम तो प्रगट हैं, अर्थात व्यभिचार, गन्‍दे काम, लुचपन। मूर्ति पूजा, टोना, बैर, झगड़ा, ईर्ष्या, क्रोध, विरोध, फूट, विधर्म। डाह, मतवालापन, लीलाक्रीड़ा, और इन के जैसे और और काम हैं, इन के विषय में मैं तुम को पहिले से कह देता हूं जैसा पहिले कह भी चुका हूं, कि ऐसे ऐसे काम करने वाले परमेश्वर के राज्य के वारिस न होंगे।”

 

इसीलिए परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में केवल शारीरिक क्रियाएं नहीं, उन क्रियाओं के पीछे के सभी प्रकार के अपवित्र, अधर्मी विचार पाप हैं - चाहे वे क्रियाओं में परिवर्तित नहीं भी हुए हों, तो भी।  परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में विचारों में किए गए पाप भी वास्तव में किए गए पापों के समान ही दण्डनीय हैं “परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं, कि जो कोई अपने भाई पर क्रोध करेगा, वह कचहरी में दण्ड के योग्य होगा: और जो कोई अपने भाई को निकम्मा कहेगा वह महासभा में दण्ड के योग्य होगा; और जो कोई कहे “अरे मूर्ख” वह नरक की आग के दण्ड के योग्य होगा।परन्तु मैं तुम से यह कहता हूं, कि जो कोई किसी स्त्री पर कुदृष्टि डाले वह अपने मन में उस से व्यभिचार कर चुका।” (मत्ती 5:22, 28)।

इसलिए बाइबल का परमेश्वर, प्रभु यीशु मसीह में होकर, हमारे मन में बसे पाप को मिटाता है; वह हमारे धर्म को नहीं, हमारे मन को बदलता है, जहाँ पर पाप की जड़ छुपी हुई है; और वहाँ से हमारे मनों में जमी हुई पाप की उस जड़ को उखाड़ कर फेंक देता है। मनुष्य अपनी सामर्थ्य से पाप की इस जड़ को नहीं उखाड़ सकता है; वो अपने कर्मों और धार्मिकता के कार्यों आदि से कुछ समय के लिए उस जड़ में से नई डालियाँ फूटना और उन डालियों में नई कोंपलें उत्पन्न होना चाहे दबा लें, किन्तु पापमय विचारों को जो शरीर में तो प्रकट नहीं होते, प्रत्यक्ष नहीं दिखाई देते, उन मन में होने वाले पापों को नहीं रोक सकता है। पाप की जड़ पर निर्णायक प्रहार और मन में बसे पाप का स्थाई निवारण केवल प्रभु परमेश्वर के द्वारा ही संभव है। 

    कल हम बाइबल के अनुसार पाप की इस व्याख्या को और आगे देखेंगे। 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों के लिए क्षमा माँगकर, स्वेच्छा से तथा सच्चे मन से अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आपको स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से प्रभु यीशु मसीह से केवल एक छोटी प्रार्थना करनी है, और साथ ही अपना जीवन उसे पूर्णतः समर्पित करना है। आप यह प्रार्थना और समर्पण कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए उन पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

What Is Sin? - 1

For the past three weeks, we have been seeing that the Bible is not a book created out of human imaginations, notions, thoughts, and efforts. It is unique, wonderful, astounding, and unparalleled in comparison to any other book of the world, to any other scriptures. It proves itself through its writings and qualities, that it is indeed the true and trustworthy, one and only Word of God, given by the Creator of the universe for the whole world, for the benefit and utilization of the entire mankind, equally applicable at all times and places. In the opening article of this current series (April 19 - The Word of God - The Bible - Introduction) we saw that the Bible is an expression of God's love for man, even in his sinful state, despite man's falling away from God.

The Bible describes how God took birth on earth as an ordinary, average, poor common man – Jesus, to restore man's fellowship with Him. He lived a sinless, spotless life, and took the sins of all mankind on Himself, suffered their punishment, death, for them. He was crucified, killed, buried in the place of mankind, and on the third day rose again from the dead. In that article we had seen that sin is the problem that breaks the fellowship of man with God, separates one from the other. And the solution to this problem is the removal of sin. From today we will start looking at these things in a little more detail. It is a humble request that please read that first article once again, so that it becomes easier to follow the coming articles.

Today we will begin by considering and understanding what sin is according to the Word of God. People generally assume and believe that committing a sin means physically committing a heinous crime, such as murder, adultery, theft, robbery, dacoity, gross cheating, etc. Generally speaking, people do not think of things like intemperate or abusive language, uncouth behavior or conversation, just looking at someone with inappropriate thoughts without saying or doing anything, lying, making excuses and hiding things to avoid facing truth, etc. as sin. Some even say that if this is done for the benefit of someone, then it is a good deed, it is not a sin; therefore, one should not be worried about such things, and should not get confused about them. But these are all human concepts and reasonings, the things contrived by the human mind, for men to pacify themselves according to their convenience and need. None of this matches the Bible's definition and explanation of sin as given by the holy sinless Creator God, who alone has the authority to define sin.

According to the Bible, sin is, essentially, a violation of God's laws, “Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness" (1 John 3:4); Any kind of unrighteousness is a sin, “All unrighteousness is sin …” (1 John 5:17), in whatever manner, under whatever circumstances, for whatever purpose this may have been done, by any person. According to the Bible, being in sin is a state of the mind. Sin lives in, and has its roots in the mind of man. Its outward manifestations start from the mind of man, then in conducive circumstances and a favorable time it manifests itself in various kinds of bodily actions:

• James 1:14-15 "But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.”

• Mark 7:20-23 "And He [Jesus] said, "What comes out of a man, that defiles a man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lewdness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within and defile a man.”

• Galatians 5:19-21 "Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God."

That's why in the eyes of God, not just physical actions, but all kinds of impure, unrighteous thoughts behind those actions - even if they haven't been converted into any actions, yet they are sin. In the eyes of God, sins committed in the mind and thoughts are just as punishable as sins committed in deeds. “22 But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment. And whoever says to his brother, 'Raca!' shall be in danger of the council. But whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be in danger of hell fire.” “28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart." (Matthew 5:22, 28).

So, the God of the Bible, through the Lord Jesus Christ, has given the way to take away the sin that is residing in our hearts; He changes our mind where the root of sin lies, not our religion; And the Lord pulls out and removes the roots of sin that are in our hearts and throws them away. Man by his own power is incapable of pulling out these roots of sin from within themselves. They may, by their pious deeds, religious behavior, and acts of righteousness, be able to suppress for some time the sprouting of new shoots and branches from those roots, but these cannot prevent the sins that happen in the mind, cannot eliminate the sinful thoughts which neither manifest physically nor are visible externally. The decisive attack on the root of sin and the permanent removal of sin settled in the heart and mind is possible only through the Lord God.

Tomorrow we will look further into this Biblical interpretation of sin.

If you have not yet accepted the discipleship of the Lord, make your decision in favor of the Lord Jesus now to ensure your eternal life and heavenly blessings. Where there is obedience to the Lord, where there is respect and obedience to His Word, there is also the blessing and protection of the Lord. Repenting of your sins, and asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, voluntarily and sincerely, surrendering yourself to Him - is the only way to salvation and heavenly life. You only have to say a short but sincere prayer to the Lord Jesus Christ willingly and with a penitent heart, and at the same time completely commit and submit your life to Him. You can say this prayer and make your submission in this manner, “Lord Jesus, I am sorry for my sins and repent of them. I thank you for taking my sins upon yourself, paying for them through your life. Because of them you died on the cross in my place, were buried, and you rose again from the grave on the third day for my salvation, and today you are the living Lord God and have freely provided to me the forgiveness, and redemption from my sins, through faith in you. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, and make me your disciple. I submit my life into your hands." Your one prayer from a sincere and committed heart will make your present and future life, in this world and in the hereafter, heavenly and blessed for eternity.

• अय्यूब के साथ अपने वार्तालाप में परमेश्वर उससे एक और अद्भुत प्रश्न पूछता है, “क्या तू बिजली को आज्ञा दे सकता है, कि वह जाए, और तुझ से कहे, मैं उपस्थित हूँ?” (अय्यूब 38:35)। मूल इब्रानी भाषा के जिस शब्द का अनुवाद यहाँ पर “बिजली” किया गया है, उसका शब्दार्थ होता है “चमकने वाली”; अर्थात प्रकाश या “चमक” में वह गुण है कि उसको एक से दूसरे स्थान पर भेजा जा सकता है, और उसे ध्वनि में परिवर्तित किया जा सकता है, इस गुण की सहायता से उसके माध्यम से संदेश भेजे जा सकते हैं। जिसे परमेश्वर ने 4000 वर्ष पहले कहा था, उसे विज्ञान ने अब पहचाना है कि प्रकाश, रेडियो तरंगें, और ध्वनि तरंगें एक ही प्रकार की ऊर्जा के, उसकी भिन्न आवृत्तियों (frequencies) के अनुसार, भिन्न स्वरूप हैं, एक से दूसरे स्थान पर स्वरूप परिवर्तित करके भेजे जा सकते हैं और इस गुण के उपयोग के द्वारा संदेश एक से दूसरे स्थान पर भेजे जा सकते हैं - हमारे टी.वी. रेडियो, फोन, औडियो और वीडियो कौल प्रणालियाँ, आदि सभी इसी सिद्धांत पर कार्य करती हैं, जिसे परमेश्वर ने इन बातों के पता होने से पहले ही पहले ही साधारण शब्दों में व्यक्त कर दिया था। 

• पहले यह माना जाता था कि वायु में कोई भार नहीं है। किन्तु अय्यूब की पुस्तक में ही परमेश्वर द्वारा वायु का तौल निर्धारित करने की बात कही गई है “जब उसने वायु का तौल ठहराया, और जल को नपुए में नापा” (अय्यूब 28:25)। जिसे विज्ञान को पहचानने में सदियाँ लग गईं, उसे परमेश्वर ने 4000 वर्ष पहले बता दिया था।

• सृष्टि के आरंभ, उत्पत्ति के समय से ही परमेश्वर ने आकाश की ज्योतियों और तारागणों को  चिह्नों, दिन और रात के समय निर्धारण, दिनों और वर्षों के निर्धारण के लिए बनाया था, “फिर परमेश्वर ने कहा, दिन को रात से अलग करने के लिये आकाश के अन्तर में ज्योतियां हों; और वे चिन्हों, और नियत समयों, और दिनों, और वर्षों के कारण हों। और वे ज्योतियां आकाश के अन्तर में पृथ्वी पर प्रकाश देने वाली भी ठहरें; और वैसा ही हो गया। तब परमेश्वर ने दो बड़ी ज्योतियां बनाईं; उन में से बड़ी ज्योति को दिन पर प्रभुता करने के लिये, और छोटी ज्योति को रात पर प्रभुता करने के लिये बनाया: और तारागण को भी बनाया” (उत्पत्ति 1:14-16)। मनुष्य ने परमेश्वर के इस उद्देश्य को हजारों वर्ष बाद पहचाना और उसका सही उपयोग किया। 

• जगत के अंत और न्याय होने के लिए परमेश्वर के सम्मुख खड़े होने के समय की भविष्यवाणी करते समय प्रभु यीशु का शिष्य पतरस, जो पहले एक अनपढ़ मछुआरा हुआ करता था, लिखता है, “परन्तु प्रभु का दिन चोर के समान आ जाएगा, उस दिन आकाश बड़ी हड़हड़ाहट के शब्द से जाता रहेगा, और तत्‍व बहुत ही तप्‍त हो कर पिघल जाएंगे, और पृथ्वी और उस पर के काम जल जाऐंगे। तो जब कि ये सब वस्तुएं, इस रीति से पिघलने वाली हैं, तो तुम्हें पवित्र चाल चलन और भक्ति में कैसे मनुष्य होना चाहिए। और परमेश्वर के उस दिन की बाट किस रीति से जोहना चाहिए और उसके जल्द आने के लिये कैसा यत्‍न करना चाहिए; जिस के कारण आकाश आग से पिघल जाएंगे, और आकाश के गण बहुत ही तप्‍त हो कर गल जाएंगे” (2 पतरस 3:10-12), जो परमाणु हथियारों के प्रयोग का सटीक वर्णन है, अंत के समय के लिए भविष्यवाणी है। आज से 2000 वर्ष पहले, जब ऐसे कोई हथियार या तरीके नहीं थे, जिनसे तत्व बहुत ही गर्म होकर पिघल जाएं, पृथ्वी और उस पर के काम जल जाएं, भयानक ध्वनि हो, आकाश की उपस्थिति दृष्टि से लुप्त हो जाए, तब इन बातों को बताना, जिन्हें आज हम परमाणु अस्त्रों के प्रयोग के परिणाम के रूप में जानते हैं, क्या किसी मानवीय बुद्धि की कल्पना से हो सकता है?

इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं है कि आज संसार परमाणु युद्ध की कगार पर खड़ा है। परमाणु अस्त्र रखने वाली शक्तियाँ एक-दूसरे पर अपना वर्चस्व स्थापित करने की होड़ में लगी हैं। संसार भर में हर स्थान, हर जाति, हर देश में तनाव है; बात-बात में एक-दूसरे पर चढ़ाई करने की या तो धमकी दी जाती है अथवा हमला कर दिया जाता है। सबसे अधिक भय अब इस बात का होने लगा है कि आतंकी संघटन और देश अब परमाणु हथियारों को अर्जित करने के प्रयास में लग गए हैं, और कर भी लेंगे। ऐसे में परमाणु विश्व-युद्ध को रोक पाना यदि असंभव नहीं तो बहुत कठिन अवश्य हो जाएगा। संसार के हालात, प्रकृति में होने वाली अप्रत्याशित, अभूतपूर्व विनाशकारी बातें, सभी 2000 वर्षे पहले प्रभु यीशु की भविष्यवाणियों (मत्ती 24 अध्याय) के अनुसार, प्रभु के दूसरे आगमन और जगत के अंत तथा सभी मनुष्यों न्याय के शीघ्र ही होने की ओर संकेत कर रही हैं। अब यह आपको विचार करना है कि क्या आप इस अवश्यंभावी परिस्थिति का सामना करने के लिए तैयार हैं कि नहीं। 

चाहे जगत का अंत आपके जीवन काल में न भी हो, तो भी जीवन समाप्त होने के पश्चात, प्रभु परमेश्वर के सामने जीवन का हिसाब देने के लिए तो खड़ा होना ही है। यदि आत्मा पर पाप के दाग लिए हुए जाएंगे, तो फिर परमेश्वर के साथ नहीं रह पाएंगे। आज ही स्वेच्छा से, प्रभु यीशु से अपने पापों की क्षमा माँगकर पापों के दागों को धो लीजिए, परमेश्वर के साथ अनन्तकाल की आशीष और सुख में रहने के लिए तैयार हो जाइए। सच्चे और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना, आपके जीवन को विनाश से आशीष में लाकर खड़ा कर सकती है - निर्णय आपका है। आपको बस कुछ इस प्रकार से सच्चे मन से, स्वेच्छा से, पापों के लिए पश्चाताप की मनसा के साथ प्रभु को पुकारना है, “हे प्रभु यीशु, मैं स्वीकार करता हूँ कि मैं आपकी अनाज्ञाकारिता का दोषी हूँ, पापी हूँ। मैं मानता हूँ कि आपने मेरे सभी पाप अपने ऊपर लेकर, क्रूस पर अपना बलिदान देने के द्वारा उनके सारे दण्ड को मेरे लिए सह लिया, मेरे स्थान पर आपने उनकी पूरी कीमत चुका दी। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, अपना आज्ञाकारी शिष्य बनाएं, और अपने साथ बनाकर रखें।” समय रहते सही निर्णय कर लें, कही बाद में बहुत देर न हो जाए, मौका हाथ से निकाल न जाए।

Bible and Physical Sciences - 2 - Facts from Physics

In the previous article we saw about the water cycle, and also saw that about 2000 years ago, when the people of the world did not have any concept, understanding, or knowledge of such severe and significant deterioration of water and air qualities because of pollution, and its existence threatening effects on life in general and on mankind in particular, and did not even think about the possibility of this to ever occur, yet God had it written in His Word, the Bible, that those who ruined the earth would face God's judgment for their actions. Today we'll look at some of the Biblical things related to Physics, things that are even more complicated than the water cycle, and which confirm as fact what we had said earlier, that God's creation will testify only in favor of its creator, not against Him.

• The famous scientist Sir Isaac Newton discovered a lot of things about light and its properties, and found out some laws about it. For example, he showed, sunlight can be dispersed into seven colors and can be re-combined into the same light as before; And that light travels in a definite, set path of its own. In the account of Job, who lived about 4000 years ago, while questioning Job about creation, God asked him and had it written, "Where is the way to the dwelling of light? And darkness, where is its place?" (Job 38:19); "By what way is light diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the earth?" (Job 38:24); implying that there is a set, definite path for the light to traverse [various English translations of the Bible express this with the more precise words like, divided, parted, diffused, dispersed, etc.]. The scientific fact that a scientist like Newton took a long time and much effort to identify and prove, had already been revealed by God to an ordinary man, thousands of years ago.

• In his conversation with Job, God asks him another wonderful question, "Can you send out lightnings, that they may go, And say to you, 'Here we are!'?" (Job 38:35). The original Hebrew word here translated as "lightning" literally means "shine", or something that shines; i.e., light or its "shine" has the quality that it can be made to go from one place to another, and it can be made “to say” things, i.e., it can be converted into sound, with the help of this quality messages can be sent through it. What God said 4000 years ago, science has now recognized that light, radio waves, and sound waves are different forms of the same type of energy, of different frequencies, and messages can be sent from one place to another using this property - our TVs, radio, phone, audio and video call systems, etc., all work on this principle, which God had already expressed in simple understandable words before these things about energy forms, waves and frequencies etc. were known to mankind.

• Earlier it was believed that there is no weight in air. But it is written in the book of Job that God determined the weight of air "To establish a weight for the wind, And apportion the waters by measure" (Job 28:25). What science took centuries to recognize had already been told by God 4000 years ago.

• From the time of creation, since the beginning of the universe, God created the lights and stars of the sky to determine the time of day and night, to determine the days and years, “Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be for lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth"; and it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also” (Genesis 1:14-16). Man could recognize this purpose of God, thousands of years later and then made good use of it.

• When prophesying the end of the world and the time to stand before God for judgment, the disciple of the Lord Jesus, Peter, formerly an illiterate fisherman, wrote, “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up. Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat?” (2 Peter 3:10-12), which is an accurate description of the destruction caused by the use of nuclear weapons. This, in a prophecy for the end times, given 2000 years ago, when there were no weapons or methods by which the elements would become very hot and melt, the earth and the works on it would burn, there would be a terrible sound of a blast, the visibility of the sky disappearing from sight. We know these things today by our knowledge of the use of nuclear weapons, but it is humanly impossible for Peter or any other person to even imagine and then to write and tell about these things at the time this was written. It simply cannot be through the thoughts or imaginations of any human intelligence.

There is no doubt that today the world is standing on the verge of nuclear war. The powers possessing nuclear weapons are competing to establish their supremacy over each other. There is tension all over the world in every place, in every race, in every country. Countries and alliances keep trying to have an upper hand over their rivals, they either threaten each other, or indirectly terrorize their rivals, or even attack and invade. The biggest fear now is that terrorist organizations and their supporting countries are now trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and eventually will acquire them in some way. In such a situation, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to avert a nuclear world war. The prevailing political and economic state of the world; the unpredictable, unprecedented destructive things that are happening in nature, are all according to the prophecies of the Lord Jesus given 2000 years ago (Matthew 24). All of these current events are pointing to the second coming of the Lord, the end of the world, and the judgment of all human beings, in the near future. Now it is for you to consider and decide whether you are prepared and ready to face this inevitable situation or not.

Even if the end of the world does not happen in your lifetime, still, after the end of this earthly life, everyone will have to stand before the Lord God to give the account of their life to Him. If the soul has stand before God, tainted with sin, then it will not be able to live with God. Voluntarily today, just now, ask the Lord Jesus for forgiveness of your sins, ask Him to wash away the stains of your sins, and to make you ready to live in eternal blessings and happiness with God. A single prayer from a sincere and submissive heart can lift your life from destruction to blessing - the decision is yours. All you have to do is call upon the Lord with a sincere heart, voluntarily, with a heartfelt sincere repentance of your sins; you can pray something like this, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I am guilty of disobeying you, I am a sinner. I believe and accept that you took all my sins upon yourself, bore all their punishment for me by sacrificing yourself on the Cross, and paid their full price in my place. Please forgive my sins, take me under your care, make me your obedient disciple, and keep me with you." Take the right decision while you have the time and opportunity, before it is too late, and you miss the opportunity.
