पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा सत्य को पहचानना - यूहन्ना 16:14-15

 

हम मसीही सेवकाई में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की कार्य-विधि का यूहन्ना 16 अध्याय में प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई बातों के आधार पर अध्ययन कर रहे हैं। पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि पवित्र आत्मा केवल सत्य का मार्ग, अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन और प्रभु यीशु की बातों में से बताता है; वह अपनी ओर से कुछ नया नहीं कहता है, वरन प्रभु की जो बातें सुनता है वही कहता है; और मसीही विश्वासियों को आने वाली बातों तथा परिस्थितियों के लिए सचेत और अवगत रखता है। प्रभु द्वारा मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की यह कार्य-विधि उससे कितनी भिन्न है, सीधे से तुलना (contrast) में है, जो आज बहुत से मत, समुदाय, और डिनॉमिनेशन परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा और उनके कार्यों के बारे में कहते तथा सिखाते हैं; पवित्र आत्मा के नाम में वे जैसा व्यवहार दिखाते हैं, और फिर उस शिक्षा और व्यवहार के आधार पर यह प्रमाणित करने के प्रयास करते हैं कि यह सभी उन्हें पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से मिला है, तथा औरों को भी इन्हीं शिक्षाओं और व्यवहार का इच्छुक रहना चाहिए, उसका प्रयास करना चाहिए। यह सब हमारे सामने एक सीधा प्रश्न उत्पन्न करता है - हमें किस की बात माननी चाहिए - जो प्रभु यीशु द्वारा परमेश्वर के वचन में दी गई है, या वह जो आज प्रभु यीशु से लगभग 2000 वर्ष बाद मनुष्यों ने कहना और दिखाना आरंभ किया है, जो चाहे विचित्र-अद्भुत-आकर्षक-आश्चर्यकर्मों वाला तो है, किन्तु परमेश्वर के वचन की बहुत सी शिक्षाओं के साथ पूर्णतः मेल नहीं खाता है, बल्कि विरोधाभास (contradiction) उत्पन्न करता है?

 

यूहन्ना 16:12-13 की बात को आगे बढ़ाते हुए, उनकी पुष्टि में प्रभु यीशु ने पद 14-15 में वैसी ही बात फिर से कही। मसीही सेवकाई के लिए मसीही विश्वासी में होकर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की कार्य-विधि के बारे में प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने आगे कहा: “वह मेरी महिमा करेगा, क्योंकि वह मेरी बातों में से ले कर तुम्हें बताएगा। जो कुछ पिता का है, वह सब मेरा है; इसलिये मैं ने कहा, कि वह मेरी बातों में से ले कर तुम्हें बताएगा” (यूहन्ना 16:14-15)। आज पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से फैलाई जाने वाली गलत शिक्षाओं को सिखाने और फैलाने वाले बहुत दृढ़ता से यह दावा करते हैं कि उन्हें यह सब पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से मिला है, और वे इसके लिए पवित्र आत्मा की महिमा करने पर बल देते हैं, तथा लोगों को बताते और सिखाते हैं कि वे भी पवित्र आत्मा से उनके समान बातों तथा व्यवहार को प्राप्त करने की माँग करें। किन्तु उनके जीवन, व्यवहार, और शिक्षाओं में, पवित्र आत्मा के नाम के उपयोग की तुलना में, प्रभु यीशु का नाम और उनकी शिक्षाओं तथा कार्यों का उल्लेख और महत्व बहुत कम होता है। उनके द्वारा बाइबल की बातों की सही शिक्षाएं बहुत ही कम दी जाती हैं; सामान्यतः वे बाइबल की बातों को उनके संदर्भ और विषय से बाहर लेकर, उन्हें अपनी ही धारणाओं के अनुसार तोड़-मरोड़ कर प्रस्तुत करते हैं, समझाते हैं। उनका मुख्य प्रयास और शिक्षा व्यक्ति द्वारा अपने स्वयं के लिए चमत्कारिक तथा लोगों को अद्भुत बातों से प्रभावित कर के अपनी ही ओर आकर्षित करने वाले, और आम लोगों पर अपनी धाक जमाने वाले वरदान पवित्र आत्मा से प्राप्त करने के प्रति होता है। किन्तु इसकी तुलना में यहाँ प्रभु यीशु ने दो ऐसी बातें शिष्यों को सिखाई हैं जो करिश्माई वरदानों और व्यवहार की बातों को मानने और मांगने वाले लोगों की शिक्षाओं के बिलकुल विपरीत हैं।

 

पवित्र आत्मा की कार्य-विधि के विषय जो पहली बात प्रभु ने 14 पद में कही वह है “वह मेरी महिमा करेगा”! ये लोग पवित्र आत्मा की महिमा करने पर इतना बल देते हैं, और अपनी इस बात को पवित्र आत्मा से सीखा हुआ बताते है; जबकि प्रभु यीशु मसीह साफ, सीधे शब्दों में, बिलकुल स्पष्ट, दो-टूक कह रहे हैं कि पवित्र आत्मा अपनी नहीं वरन प्रभु की महिमा करेगा! हम देख चुके हैं कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा सत्य का आत्मा है, वह कभी कुछ असत्य नहीं कहता या सिखाता है। तो फिर तो प्रभु की बात सत्य है, और उन लोगों की गलत है, और यह संभव नहीं है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने उन लोगों को कुछ असत्य सिखाया है, प्रचार करने के लिए कहा है। प्रभु की यह बात हमारे सामने मसीही विश्वास की शिक्षाओं का आँकलन करने का एक और मापदंड रखती है - मसीही विश्वास और सेवकाई से संबंधित जो भी शिक्षा अथवा व्यवहार प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर केंद्रित न हो, प्रभु यीशु को महिमा न दे; बल्कि प्रभु यीशु और उनके क्रूस पर दिए गए बलिदान, पुनरुत्थान, और सुसमाचार की बजाए किसी अन्य की ओर ध्यान आकर्षित करे, उसे महिमित करने का प्रयास करे, वह परमेश्वर प्रभु की ओर से नहीं है; चाहे उस महिमा का विषय परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ही क्यों न हो। पवित्र आत्मा का कार्य प्रभु यीशु की महिमा करना है; वह अपनी महिमा नहीं करवाता है, और न ही ऐसी कोई शिक्षा या व्यवहार सिखाता है जो प्रभु यीशु की महिमा करने पर ध्यान न दे, अथवा न करे।

पवित्र आत्मा की कार्य-विधि के बारे में प्रभु यीशु ने जो दूसरी बात 14 और 15 में कही, उसे वे पहले भी यूहन्ना 14:26 तथा 16:13 में कह चुके हैं, और यहाँ इन दोनों पदों में फिर से दोहराया है। प्रभु द्वारा इस बात को बारंबार दोहराया जाना इस बात का सूचक है कि प्रभु की दृष्टि में यह बात कितनी महत्वपूर्ण है, और शिष्यों के ध्यान रखने के लिए कितनी आवश्यक है। प्रभु ने कहा, “वह मेरी बातों में से ले कर तुम्हें बताएगा”; जिसे हम दूसरे शब्दों में पहले भी देख चुके हैं - परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा अपनी ओर से कुछ नया किसी मसीही विश्वासी को नहीं कहता, सिखाता, या करवाता है। मसीही सेवकाई के लिए, मसीही विश्वासी के जीवन में, पवित्र आत्मा की शिक्षाओं और व्यवहार का दायरा प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा दी गई शिक्षाओं तक ही सीमित है। फिर चाहे कोई भी कुछ भी क्यों न कहता रहे, कोई भी अद्भुत बात ‘प्रमाण’ के रूप में क्यों न दिखाता रहे, प्रभु यीशु द्वारा वचन में दे दी गई शिक्षाओं और बातों से अधिक या बाहर जो कुछ भी है, वह न तो प्रभु यीशु की ओर से है, और न पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से। इसलिए प्रभु की शिक्षाओं से अतिरिक्त और बाहर की किसी भी शिक्षा या व्यवहार को स्वीकार नहीं करना है - गलत शिक्षाओं को पहचानने का यह एक और मापदंड प्रभु यीशु ने अपने शिष्यों को यहाँ दिया है।

 

यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो कुछ रुक कर अपने विश्वास के आधार का और जिन शिक्षाओं को आप मानते और बताते हैं, उनके बारे में गंभीरता से विचार और आँकलन कर लीजिए। क्या आपके विश्वास का आधार प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उसका वचन है, या सांसारिक तथा शारीरिक लाभ और चंगाई, अद्भुत आश्चर्यकर्म, विचित्र व्यवहार, और करिश्माई बातों द्वारा दिखाया गया आकर्षण है? जिन शिक्षाओं और बातों को आप मानते हैं, जिनके अनुसार व्यवहार करते हैं क्या वे परमेश्वर के वचन से हैं, या अपनी ही अलग व्याख्या के द्वारा किसी मत-समुदाय-डिनॉमिनेशन द्वारा दी जाने वाली ऐसी शिक्षाएं हैं जो परमेश्वर के वचन से पूर्णतः मेल नहीं कहती हैं? क्या आपके जीवन, व्यवहार, और गवाही से प्रभु यीशु के नाम को महिमा मिलती है; और क्या पापों से पश्चाताप तथा प्रभु यीशु में विश्वास द्वारा उद्धार के सुसमाचार को प्राथमिकता मिलती है, या फिर आप सांसारिक तथा शारीरिक लाभों, चंगाइयों, करिश्माई व्यवहार आदि की लालसाओं में ही बंधे हुए पड़े हैं? अभी, समय रहते, अपने आप को तथा अपने मसीही विश्वासी होने को परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार जाँच कर सही कर लीजिए।

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि आप जैसी भी दशा में हैं, उसी में परमेश्वर आपको स्वीकार कर लेगा, और सदा काल के लिए अपना बना लेगा। साथ ही क्या किसी पापी मनुष्य के लिए कहीं और यह संभव है कि परमेश्वर स्वयं आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको धर्मी बनाए; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को तथा अपनी धार्मिकता को औरों पर प्रकट करे, आपको खरा आँकलन करने और सच्चा न्याय करने वाला बनाए; तथा आप में होकर पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Verifying Through the Holy Spirit - John 16:14-15

We have been studying the working of the Holy Spirit in the Christian Believer’s life and ministry on the basis of what the Lord Jesus has said in John 16. In the previous article we had seen that the Holy Spirit only tells and speaks about the way of truth, i.e., from the Word of God and from what the Lord Jesus has already said. He does not say anything new form His own side, but only says what the Lord Jesus has already said; and forewarns the Christian Believers about the things to come to keep them aware and ready in their ministry. How different is this working of the Holy Spirit stated by the Lord Jesus in the life of a Christian Believer, from what many people, sects, and denominations preach, teach, and exhibit through their behavior about the Holy Spirit today. What these people exhibit in the name of the Holy Spirit, and then on its basis try to prove that this is how the Holy Spirit works, is in direct contrast to what God’s Word says; yet they try to entice people into following their teaching and behavior, strive for doing the same as they are doing. All of this presents a very direct question before us - whom should we believe and follow - that which is given in God’s Word; or that which men have started to preach, teach, and show about 2000 years after the earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus? What these persons are preaching, teaching, and demonstrating may be very attractive, unique, having miraculous works in them, but still, it is not consistent with many things and teachings of God’s Word, rather, it presents a contradiction instead of affirmation of God’s Word.

Taking the statements of John 16:12-13 further and in their support, the Lord Jesus said something similar again in verses 14-15. Regarding the working of the Holy Spirit in Christian Ministry, the Lord said, “He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you. All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore, I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you” (John 16:14-15). Today, those who preach and teach many wrong things about the Holy Spirit, emphatically claim that they receive all those things from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, they not only emphasize upon glorifying the Holy Spirit, but also tell the people to ask the Holy Spirit for things and behavior like theirs, to do the same as they are doing. But in their lives, behavior, preaching and teachings, in contrast to the use of the name of the “Holy Spirit”, the name of the Lord Jesus and His teachings, works, and instructions etc. have hardly any mention; true Biblical teachings from the Word of God are hardly ever stated, usually they speak of their own interpretation of Biblical things, after taking them out of their context, and presenting them in a manner suitable to their teachings. Their main emphasis and efforts are directed towards attracting people to themselves through their externally impressive and charismatic speaking and behavior, and doing wondrous things; and they emphatically ask the people about asking and receiving those gifts of the Holy Spirit through which they can show-off to other persons. But in contrast to this, here the Lord Jesus has taught two things to His disciples, which are diametrically opposite to the teachings and behavior of these charismatic preachers and teachers.

The first thing that the Lord Jesus said about the working of the Holy Spirit in verse 14 is, “He will glorify Me”! These people place so much emphasis on glorifying the Holy Spirit, and claim to have received this from the Holy Spirit; but the simple straightforward words of the Lord Jesus so very clearly tell us that the Holy Spirit does not glorify Himself, rather, He glorifies the Lord Jesus. We have seen that God the Holy Spirit is “the Spirit of truth”; He never says, teaches, or does anything that is false or not according to God’s Word. Therefore, what the Lord Jesus has said is correct, and what these people are preaching, teaching, and demonstrating is false and unacceptable; because it is impossible that the Holy Spirit has taught them something unBiblical, different from what the Lord Himself has said. What the Lord Jesus has said over here, provides us with another standard to gauge and ascertain the veracity of the Christian teachings being given out by people - any Christian teaching that is not based on the Lord Jesus, does not glorify the Lord Jesus; and instead of directing the audience towards the Cross of Calvary and the sacrifice of the Lord Jesus, His resurrection, His Gospel message, directs the attention and thoughts of the listeners to anything else and tries to glorify something or someone else, even though the subject of that glorification is God the Holy Spirit, is not from the Lord God and His Word. The work of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus; He does not glorify Himself, nor does He teach any message or behavior that does not direct the listener towards glorifying the Lord Jesus, or does not glorify the Lord Jesus.

The second thing that the Lord Jesus repeatedly said, in verses 14 and 15, is what He had already said earlier in John 14:26 and 16:13. The Lord’s repeating the same thing is an indication of how important that thing is from the Lord’s perspective. The Lord said, “He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you”; something we have already seen stated earlier that God the Holy Spirit does not teach or ask to be done anything other than what has already been said by the Lord and given in God’s Word. In Christian Ministry, the role of the Holy Spirit and His teachings is limited to the teachings already taught and given by the Lord God and His Word. Beyond this, no matter what anyone says, no matter what wonderous or miraculous works they show to support their claims, anything that is more than or outside the things said and taught in God’s Word is neither from the Lord nor from the Holy Spirit. Therefore, nothing, absolutely nothing, outside the teachings and behavior given in the Lord’s teachings and Word is to be accepted and followed - here the Lord has provided another measure to gauge and recognize false teachings.

If you are a Christian Believer, then pause for a moment and examine and evaluate the basis of the teachings and behavior you believe in and accept; ponder over this seriously and deeply. Is the basis of your faith and belief the Word of God and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ; or are you following after people because of their attractive and impressive behavior, physical healings and promises of worldly gains and prosperity? The teachings and things you believe in, things which direct and determine your behavior, are they from the Word of God; or are they someone’s interpretation of parts and pieces of God’s Word, taken out of their context? Are the teachings and preaching that you follow consistent with the facts of God’s Word, or are they what a particular person, sect, or denomination teaches and preaches and insists that people follow only that? Does your life, behavior, and witnessing bring glory to the Lord Jesus? Are you a Christian Believer by repentance of sins and accepting the Gospel of the Lord Jesus, or because of being attracted by physical healings, worldly benefits, temporal prosperity, attractions of charismatic behavior, etc.? Examine and evaluate, and come to the right decision now, while you have time and opportunity to correct whatever needs to be corrected.

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पवित्र आत्मा के तीन प्रयोजन - यूहन्ना 16:12-13

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि एक बार फिर प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा को “सत्य का आत्मा” कह कर संबोधित किया; अर्थात पवित्र आत्मा से संबंधित और उनकी हर बात केवल सत्य ही होगी, और वे केवल सत्य ही का मार्ग बताएंगे; वे किसी भी प्रकार के प्रत्यक्ष अथवा अप्रत्यक्ष असत्य के साथ कभी किसी रूप में सम्मिलित नहीं होंगे। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि परमेश्वर के वचन बाइबल के अनुसार ‘सत्य’ प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उनका वचन है। तात्पर्य यह हुआ कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की हर बात प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उनके वचन की बातों में से होगी, उन शिक्षाओं और बातों के साथ संगत होगी, कभी उनसे भिन्न अथवा अतिरिक्त नहीं होगी। साथ ही हमने यह भी देखा था कि बाइबल से संबंधित किसी भी सिद्धांत को स्वीकार करने से पहले, उसे तीन बातों के आधार पर जाँच लेना चाहिए; ये बातें हैं - i. सुसमाचारों में प्रचार किया गया; ii. प्रेरितों के काम में व्यावहारिक मसीही या मण्डली के जीवन में प्रदर्शित किया गया; iii. पत्रियों में उसकी व्याख्या की गई या उसके विषय सिखाया गया। जिस बात में ये तीनों गुण नहीं हैं, उसे तुरंत स्वीकार नहीं करना चाहिए; बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान (प्रेरितों 17:11) वचन से यह देखना चाहिए कि जो कहा और बताया जा रहा है, वास्तव में पवित्र शास्त्र में वैसा ही लिखा है या नहीं - यह खरे आत्मिक ज्ञान का चिह्न है 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:15।

यूहन्ना 16:13 में परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा द्वारा ‘तुम्हें’ अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों की सार्वजनिक मसीही सेवकाई से संबंधित तीन बातों का उल्लेख है:

(i) वह सब सत्य का मार्ग बताएगा; 

(ii) वह अपनी ओर से नहीं कहेगा, परंतु जो कुछ सुनेगा, वही कहेगा;

(iii) वह आने वाली बातें बताएगा। 

आज परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से बहुतायत से किए जाने वाले भ्रामक प्रचार, गलत शिक्षाओं, और मन-गढ़न्त बातों के संदर्भ में, उन बातों और शिक्षाओं को जाँचने और परखने, उनकी सत्यता को जानने और पहचानने के लिए, ऐसी शिक्षाओं और उनके प्रचारकों को स्वीकार अथवा अस्वीकार करने के लिए, ये तीनों बातें बहुत सहायक तथा महत्वपूर्ण हैं।

 

(i) ) वह सब सत्य का मार्ग बताएगा: पहली बात जो प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने याहन पर कही है, वह है कि पवित्र आत्मा सब सत्य का मार्ग बताएगा। यह मसीह यीशु के शिष्य पर यह ज़िम्मेदारी रखता है कि वह हर बात के विषय परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा से मार्गदर्शन मांगे और ले, विशेषतः उन बातों के लिए जो नई अथवा वचन में दी गई बातों से भिन्न प्रतीत होती हैं। गलत शिक्षाओं और सिद्धांतों के सभी प्रचारक सामान्यतः परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा के विपरीत, सांसारिक सुख-समृद्धि-संपत्ति या लाभ प्राप्त करने ही की बातें करते हैं (1 यूहन्ना 2:15-17), और पापों से पश्चाताप करने, प्रभु यीशु को समर्पित जीवन जीने, और परमेश्वर के वचन को सीखने और पालन करने पर जोर देने की बजाए शारीरिक चंगाई के बारे में बातें करते हैं। उनके प्रचार में पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करने (प्रेरितों 2:38), प्रभु यीशु मसीह पर विश्वास द्वारा उद्धार (प्रेरितों 15:11; 16:31), प्रभु यीशु के शिष्य बनने और उससे आने वाले मन-परिवर्तन के बारे में (रोमियों 12:1-2; 2 कुरिन्थियों 5:17), और अपने आप को संसार में यात्री और परदेशी होकर सांसारिक नहीं वरन स्वर्गीय वस्तुओं पर मन लगाने (1 पतरस 2:11; कुलुस्सियों 3:1-2), मसीही विश्वास और सेवकाई में दुख आने और उठाने की अनिवार्यता (फिलिप्पियों 1:29; 2 तिमुथियुस 3:12), आदि, सुसमाचार की बातें या तो होती ही नहीं हैं, अथवा बहुत कम होती हैं। उनका प्रचार, और जीवन मुख्यतः पार्थिव, नश्वर, शारीरिक सुख-सुविधा की बातों से ही संबंधित होता है। और फिर वे यह सब पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से अथवा उनकी अगुवाई में होकर कहने का दावा करते हैं। वे शरीरों के विचित्र हाव-भाव-हरकतों और मुँह से अजीब-अजीब आवाज़ें निकालकर लोगों को प्रभावित करने और यह विश्वास दिलाने के प्रयास करते हैं कि यह सब पवित्र आत्मा उनमें होकर कर रहा है या उनसे करवा रहा है। जबकि पवित्र आत्मा के संबंध में ऐसी कोई शिक्षा, कोई बात परमेश्वर के वचन में कहीं नहीं दी गई है। तो फिर वह ‘सत्य का आत्मा’ जो केवल सत्य अर्थात परमेश्वर के वचन और प्रभु यीशु की बातों का मार्ग बताता है, वह यह सब कैसे कर सकता है? या तो प्रभु यीशु की कही यूहन्ना 16:13 की बात झूठ है, अन्यथा पवित्र आत्मा के नाम पर किए जा रहे ये भ्रामक एवं नाटकीय प्रचार और व्यवहार झूठ हैं।

 

(ii) वह अपनी ओर से नहीं कहेगा, परंतु जो कुछ सुनेगा, वही कहेगा: इस प्रकार का गलत प्रचार करने वालों में एक और बात बहुधा देखी जाती है - वे पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से नए दर्शन, नई शिक्षाएं, नई बातें बोलने के दावे करते हैं। किन्तु प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने यहाँ पर परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विषय स्पष्ट कहा है कि वे “अपनी ओर न कहेगा, परंतु जो कुछ सुनेगा, वही कहेगा”; साथ ही प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने इससे पहले कहा था “परन्तु सहायक अर्थात पवित्र आत्मा जिसे पिता मेरे नाम से भेजेगा, वह तुम्हें सब बातें सिखाएगा, और जो कुछ मैं ने तुम से कहा है, वह सब तुम्हें स्मरण कराएगा” (यूहन्ना 14:26)। अब जब परमेश्वर का वचन अपनी पूर्णता में लिखा जा चुका है, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्ग में स्थापित हो चुका है (भजन 119:89), साथ ही प्रभु यीशु द्वारा कही गई उपरोक्त बातों को भी ध्यान में रखते हुए, तो फिर यह कैसे संभव है कि परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा उस वचन के अतिरिक्त और कुछ नया किसी मनुष्य को बताए या सिखाए? यह तो उपरोक्त बातों के विरुद्ध होगा, उन्हें झूठ दिखाएगा - जो ‘सत्य के आत्मा’ पवित्र आत्मा के गुणों के विरुद्ध है। एक और बार हमारे समान फिर वही आँकलन आ जाता है - या तो परमेश्वर का वचन सही है, तो फिर ये प्रचारक और उनकी शिक्षाएं और व्यवहार झूठे होंगे; अन्यथा ये प्रचारक और उनके दावे सही हैँ, तो फिर परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षाएं स्थिर, स्थापित और सच्ची नहीं हैं, वरन परिवर्तनीय हैं, अविश्वासयोग्य हैं क्योंकि लिखा कुछ है और हो कुछ और ही रहा है! आप किस पर विश्वास करेंगे - परमेश्वर और परमेश्वर के वचन पर या मनुष्य और उसके वचन, व्यवहार, और दावों पर?

(iii) वह आने वाली बातें बताएगा: एक और बात जिसका दावा ये भ्रामक एवं नाटकीय प्रचार और व्यवहार करने वाले अकसर करते हैं, वह है “भविष्यवाणियाँ”। अवश्य ही प्रभु यीशु ने शिष्यों से कहा कि पवित्र आत्मा 'तुम्हें' अर्थात प्रभु यीशु के शिष्यों को आने वाली बातें बताएगा। किन्तु यदि नए नियम की बातों के आधार पर इस बात को देखें, तो इस बात का जो अर्थ सामने आता है वह है कि पवित्र आत्मा मसीही सेवकाई और सुसमाचार प्रचार के दौरान शिष्यों को आने वाली बातों को बताता है, अर्थात उन्हें सचेत रखता था। ऐसा बिलकुल नहीं था कि पवित्र आत्मा लोगों को अपना ढिंढोरा पीटने और अपने आप को लोगों के सामने भविष्यद्वक्ता दिखा कर वाह-वाही लूटने के लिए कहता था। वरन वह सुसमाचार प्रचार में लगे प्रभु के शिष्यों को हर परिस्थिति के लिए तैयार और आगाह रखता था, जो शिष्यों की सेवकाई के लिए बहुत महत्वपूर्ण बात थी (प्रेरितों 9:16; 13:4; 20:22-23; 21:4, 11; 23:16)। दूसरी बात, यदि लोगों द्वारा “पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से” मिली और की जा रही भविष्यवाणियों के विषयों को देखें, और उनके पूरा होने का आँकलन करें, तो स्पष्ट हो जाता है कि उन “भविष्यवाणियों” के विषय और सामग्री, सामान्यतः परमेश्वर के वचन से बाहर या अतिरिक्त होते हैं - जो, जैसा हम ऊपर देख चुके हैं, पवित्र आत्मा की ओर से किया जाना संभव नहीं है। साथ ही यदि उनके पूरे होने के आधार पर आँकलन करने के लिए उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन की शिक्षा से देखें, तो लिखा है , “और यदि तू अपने मन में कहे, कि जो वचन यहोवा ने नहीं कहा उसको हम किस रीति से पहचानें? तो पहचान यह है कि जब कोई नबी यहोवा के नाम से कुछ कहे; तब यदि वह वचन न घटे और पूरा न हो जाए, तो वह वचन यहोवा का कहा हुआ नहीं; परन्तु उस नबी ने वह बात अभिमान कर के कही है, तू उस से भय न खाना” (व्यवस्थाविवरण 18:21-22)। अर्थात दोनों ही रीति से ऐसे लोगों द्वारा की जा रही “भविष्यवाणियों” के परमेश्वर की ओर से होने की पुष्टि नहीं होती है। फिर भी ये लोग, बेधड़क होकर, परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के नाम से कुछ भी कहते और करते रहते हैं; तथा लोग सच्चाई की पहचान करने और फिर स्वीकार करने के स्थान पर, उनकी बातों में आकर मूर्ख बनते रहते हैं, उनके पीछे चलते रहते हैं।

 

यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं तो यह आपके लिए अनिवार्य है कि आप परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा के विषय वचन में दी गई शिक्षाओं को गंभीरता से सीखें, समझें और उनका पालन करें; और सत्य को जान तथा समझ कर ही उचित और उपयुक्त व्यवहार करें, सही शिक्षाओं का प्रचार करें। आपको अपनी हर बात का हिसाब प्रभु को देना होगा (मत्ती 12:36-37)। जब वचन आपके हाथ में है, वचन को सिखाने के लिए पवित्र आत्मा आपके साथ है, तो फिर बिना जाँचे और परखे गलत शिक्षाओं में फँस जाने, तथा मनुष्यों और उनके समुदायों और शिक्षाओं को आदर देते रहने के लिए उन गलत शिक्षाओं में बने रहने के लिए कोई उत्तर नहीं दे सकेंगे।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि आप जैसी भी दशा में हैं, उसी में परमेश्वर आपको स्वीकार कर लेगा, और सदा काल के लिए अपना बना लेगा। साथ ही क्या किसी पापी मनुष्य के लिए कहीं और यह संभव है कि परमेश्वर स्वयं आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको धर्मी बनाए; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को तथा अपनी धार्मिकता को औरों पर प्रकट करे, आपको खरा आँकलन करने और सच्चा न्याय करने वाला बनाए; तथा आप में होकर पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Three Purposes of the Holy Spirit - John 16:12-13

We had seen in the previous article that in our lead verses once again the Lord Jesus had addressed the Holy Spirit as “the Spirit of Truth.” This clearly indicates that everything related to the Holy Spirit, and whatever He says will only be the truth, He will only tell the correct way and the right things, and He will never be involved in anything that is not the truth, directly or indirectly, evidently or obscurely. We had also seen that according to the Bible, Lord Jesus and His Word are “truth.” Therefore, the implication is that everything that the Holy Spirit says or teaches or reveals will only be from the Lord Jesus Christ and His Word, will be consistent with them, and will never be different from what the Lord Jesus has already stated. Another thing that we had seen was that before accepting anything as a doctrine, it should be examined and evaluated Biblically, and three characteristics help us to ascertain whether or not it is truly Biblical; these three things are: (i) they must have been preached in the Gospels, i.e., must have been preached and taught by the Lord Jesus; (ii) they must have been evidently present and seen in the first Church, i.e., they must be recorded in the Book of Acts; (iii) they must have been expounded upon in the letters or epistles, i.e., the Holy Spirit must have affirmed those teachings and behavior, and He must have got written things related to those teachings and doctrines in God’s Word. If all of these three characteristics are not seen or present in any teaching or doctrine, then it must not immediately be accepted, no matter who is stating them, or telling and teaching about them, howsoever famous and knowledgeable he may be. We should, like the Believers of Berea (Acts 17:11), first prayerfully and carefully examine and evaluate from God’s Word whether what is being preached and taught really and factually is according to God’s Word or not, and only then accept it, believe in it. Doing this is a sign of a mature spiritual person (1 Corinthians 2:15).

In John 16:13 “However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come”, we see three things related to the public ministry of the disciples, into which “He, the Spirit of truth” will guide “you”, i.e., the disciples of the Lord Jesus. These three things are:

(i) He will guide you into all truth;

(ii) He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak;

(iii) He will tell you things to come.

Today, a lot of wrong preaching and teaching is going on in the name of the Holy Spirit. These three things stated by the Lord Jesus regarding the work of the Holy Spirit in Christian Ministry are very important and form the basis to examine and evaluate the truth and learn about these teachings being true or not, and to decide whether or not to accept the preachers and teachers putting forth doctrines and messages in the name of the Holy Spirit.

(i) He will guide you into all truth: The first thing that the Lord Jesus said is that the Holy Spirit will guide the disciples into all truth. This places the responsibility upon the Lord’s disciple to seek guidance about everything from God the Holy Spirit, especially before accepting and believing anything that seems new or different from what is given in God’s Word. Generally speaking, the preachers and teachers of wrong messages and doctrines, usually only talk about worldly things, prosperity, temporal gains, contrary to God’s Word (1 John 2:15-17), and about physical healings instead of teaching about the gospel and related matters, and emphasizing upon learning and obedience to God’s Word. In their preaching and teachings the things related to the Gospel, i.e., repentance for sins (Acts 2:38), receiving salvation through coming into faith in the Lord Jesus (Acts 15:11; 16:31), making disciples of the Lord Jesus, and living a changed life because of change of heart and mind through becoming disciples of the Lord (Romans 12:1-2; 2 Corinthians 5:17), considering yourself as pilgrims and travelers in this world and therefore not getting involved with worldly things, rather being attached to heavenly things (1 Peter 2:11; Colossians 3:1-2), it being mandatory to suffer persecution and pain in Christian life and ministry (Philippians 1:29; 2 Timothy 3:12) etc., are either not there, or are a very small and insignificant part of their message and ministry. Instead, their preaching and teaching is mainly concentrated upon the perishable physical body, physical things, and worldly amenities. And then they claim to say all of this through the Holy Spirit. They try to impress people and make them believe through strange bodily gestures, odd behavior, and making incoherent illegible sounds, that all of this is being done by the Holy Spirit. Whereas, nowhere in the Bible, any such teaching has ever been given or even implied about the Holy Spirit. So, then, He, “the Spirit of truth”, who only does and tells the truth and about the teachings and way of the Lord Jesus, how can He do all these unBiblical things and behavior? Either, what the Lord has said in John 16:13 is incorrect and a lie, or, these dramatic unBiblical things being said and done in the name of the Holy Spirit are false and unacceptable.

(ii) He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak: Another thing that is commonly seen amongst these teachers and preachers of wrong doctrines is that they claim to receive new visions, new doctrines, and new teachings from the Holy Spirit. But here, the Lord Jesus has very clearly stated about the Holy Spirit that “He will not speak on His own authority”, rather, “but whatever He hears He will speak” which is a re-affirmation of what the Lord Jesus had previously said: “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you” (John 14:26). Now, in light of these categorical statements by the Lord Jesus, and keeping in mind the fact that the Word of God has been fully written down, and settled in heaven for eternity (Psalm 119:89), how is it at all possible that God the Holy Spirit will tell something other than what has been given in the Bible, something new that has not been stated before? If He were to do so, it would be going against God’s Word and His ministry, will be a lie, will be against the characteristics of “the Spirit of truth.” So once more we are brought back to the same assessment, either God’s Word is true and supreme, in which case, these teachers and preachers will be false and liars; or else, God’s Word is not settled, absolute, established, and immutable, since it can be altered, and added to, in which case it becomes unreliable and incomplete, and one can never be sure when some new thing may be added to it, and something else may be taken away from it! Now, what will you believe in - on God and His Word, or on a man and what he claims, on his strange unBiblical behavior and utterances?

(iii) He will tell you things to come: Another false thing that these preachers and teachers of wrong doctrines and messages very emphatically speak about are “prophecies.” Undoubtedly, the Lord Jesus did say to His disciples that the Holy Spirit will tell them the “things to come.” But when we look at this statement in context of the things and happenings in the New Testament, then the meaning of this statement that comes forth is that the Holy Spirit would keep them informed and caution them about what lay ahead for the disciples during their ministry and preaching the gospel. Nowhere in the New Testament do we find that the Holy Spirit ever caused the disciples to ‘blow their own trumpet’ or to present themselves before the people as “Prophets” and garner glory and praise from people, as is very commonly seen about these false preachers and teachers today. Rather, the Holy Spirit kept the disciples engaged in ministry and gospel preaching, aware of what lay ahead for them, so that the disciples remained prepared and ready for the coming events (Acts 9:16; 13:4; 20:22-23; 21:4, 11; 23:16). Secondly, if we examine and evaluate the “prophecies” that these people claim to receive from the Holy Spirit, consider their topics or themes, and check how many were fulfilled, if any at all, then it becomes very clear that the topics and themes of those “prophecies” are usually about worldly things, worldly prosperity, and non-spiritual issues, which, as we have seen above is not possible that the Holy Spirit will do. Also, if we check them out on the basis of those “prophecies” being fulfilled, then hardly any would stand up to this evaluation. In this regard, God’s Word says, “And if you say in your heart, 'How shall we know the word which the Lord has not spoken?' When a prophet speaks in the name of the Lord, if the thing does not happen or come to pass, that is the thing which the Lord has not spoken; the prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him” (Deuteronomy 18:21-22). In other words, on both counts, their so-called “Prophecies” fail on being confirmed through God’s Word. But still, these people, undaunted, keep on saying and doing whatever comes to their minds in the name of the Holy Spirit. But even more dismaying is the fact that people instead of checking them out through God’s Word and calling their bluff, foolishly continue to run after them, follow them, praise them, fulfill their demands, and keep getting cheated and looted by them in various ways.

If you are a Christian Believer, then it is mandatory for you to learn about God the Holy Spirit from the Word of God, know and understand the Biblical truths, and follow them. Make it a point to discern the truth of the various claims being made, only then accept them, and preach only the Biblical truth, nothing else; for you will have to give an account to the Lord of everything you say (Matthew 12:36-37). When you have the Word of God in your hands, and the teacher of the Word, the Holy Spirit is with you to help you learn, then how will you be able to explain your getting caught in, being involved with, and preaching wrong teachings, and honoring the sects, denominations, and people who spread these false teachings?

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.

पिछले लेख में हमने देखा था कि मसीही विश्वास और सेवकाई से संबंधित कुछ बातें और कुछ शिक्षाएं ऐसी भी हैं, जिन्हें समझने और मानने के लिए परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा की सहायता की आवश्यकता होती है, जैसा प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने स्वयं शिष्यों से कहा है। इसका एक उदाहरण हमें यूहन्ना 6:60-66 में हमें मिलता है, जहाँ आने वाले समय में स्थापित किए जाने वाले प्रभु-भोज से संबंधित प्रभु की शिक्षाओं को उनके उस समय के कई शिष्य समझ नहीं सके, सहन नहीं कर सके, और इस कारण प्रभु यीशु को छोड़कर चले गए। उद्धार पाने के साथ ही, तुरंत ही पवित्र आत्मा मसीही विश्वासी में आकर निवास करने लगता है, किन्तु जब तक उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में, उनकी आज्ञाकारिता में चलने न लगे, तब तक उसमें मसीही जीवन जीने के लिए वह परिपक्वता और समझ-बूझ विकसित नहीं होती है, जो समय के अनुसार हो जानी चाहिए। पौलुस ने कुरिन्थुस के मसीही विश्वासियों को उनके अपरिपक्व व्यवहार के लिए उलाहना दिया, उन्हें बालक और शारीरिक कहा (1 कुरिन्थियों 3:1-4) क्योंकि उनके अंदर पवित्र आत्मा के फलों (गलातियों 5:22-23) दिखाई देने की बजाए सांसारिकता का व्यवहार दिखाई दे रहा था। इसी प्रकार से इब्रानियों का लेखक भी अपने पाठकों को झिड़कता है, क्योंकि वे अभी भी मसीही विश्वास में आने के उनके समय के अनुसार उनसे अपेक्षित परिपक्वता तक नहीं पहुँचे थे, उन्हें अभी भी मसीही विश्वास की मूल बातें समझना और सीखना आवश्यक था (इब्रानियों 5:11-14)।

 

अर्थात मसीही विश्वासी में पवित्र आत्मा की उपस्थिति, स्वतः ही उसे मसीही सेवकाई के लिए उपयुक्त नहीं बना देती है। हर व्यक्ति को मसीही जीवन जीना, उसमें बढ़ना, और परमेश्वर के वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में रहना सीखना पड़ता है; और परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा इसमें सहायक तथा मार्गदर्शक होता है। यदि व्यक्ति सीखने और मानने वाला न बने, सांसारिक बातों में ही लगा रहे (इफिसियों 4 अध्याय), तो इससे पवित्र आत्मा शोकित होता है (इफिसियों 4:30)। पवित्र आत्मा की अगुवाई में पौलुस प्रेरित ने लिखा, “पर मैं कहता हूं, आत्मा के अनुसार चलो, तो तुम शरीर की लालसा किसी रीति से पूरी न करोगे” (गलातियों 5:16); अर्थात जीवन में सांसारिकता तथा शरीर की लालसाओं की पूर्ति की अभिलाषाएं यह प्रमाणित करते हैं कि उद्धार पाया हुआ व्यक्ति अभी पवित्र आत्मा के चलाए नहीं चल रहा है, मसीही परिपक्वता की ओर अग्रसर नहीं है। इसके विपरीत उस व्यक्ति का बदला हुआ जीवन, उसके जीवन में दिखने वाले पवित्र आत्मा के फल, उसका परमेश्वर के वचन को प्राथमिकता देना और उस वचन की आज्ञाकारिता में चलते रहना, उसके जीवन तथा व्यवहार से सांसारिक लोगों का पाप, धार्मिकता, और न्याय के विषय कायल होना, आदि बातें प्रत्यक्ष प्रमाण होते हैं के व्यक्ति में पवित्र आत्मा विद्यमान है, और वह व्यक्ति पवित्र आत्मा के चलाए चल रहा है।

यूहन्ना 16:13 में, पवित्र आत्मा के शिक्षक होने के कार्य के संबंध में एक बार फिर उन्हें 'सत्य का आत्मा' कहा गया है; अर्थात उनकी हर बात सत्य है, और वे केवल सत्य ही का मार्ग बताएंगे; वे किसी भी असत्य के साथ कभी सम्मिलित नहीं होंगे। परमेश्वर का वचन बाइबल ही ‘सत्य’ को पुराने तथा नए नियम में परिभाषित करती है:

भजन 119:160 तेरा सारा वचन सत्य ही है; और तेरा एक एक धर्ममय नियम सदा काल तक अटल है।

यूहन्ना 14:6 यीशु ने उस से कहा, मार्ग और सच्चाई और जीवन मैं ही हूं; बिना मेरे द्वारा कोई पिता के पास नहीं पहुंच सकता।

यूहन्ना 17:17 सत्य के द्वारा उन्हें पवित्र कर: तेरा वचन सत्य है।

अर्थात, जिस सत्य की बात वचन में की जाती है, वह सांसारिक मानकों और परिभाषाओं के अनुसार नहीं है, वरन परमेश्वर के वचन, तथा प्रभु यीशु मसीह और उनकी शिक्षाओं के अनुसार ‘सत्य’ है। इसका सीधा और स्पष्ट तात्पर्य है कि जो भी व्यवहार एवं शिक्षा परमेश्वर के वचन में नहीं दी गई है, अथवा प्रभु यीशु मसीह के जीवन, व्यवहार, और शिक्षाओं में देखने को नहीं मिलती है, वह सब मसीही जीवन, विश्वास, और सेवकाई के संबंध में असत्य है, अनुचित है। ऐसी हर शिक्षा और व्यवहार  मसीही विश्वासी के लिए अस्वीकार्य है, क्योंकि, जैसा कि प्रभु यीशु मसीह ने कहा, हर असत्य शैतान की ओर से होता है, शैतान ही झूठ का पिता है (यूहन्ना 8:44)। मसीही विश्वास एवं सेवकाई में सही शिक्षा और सिद्धान्तों की पहचान करने के लिए उसमें तीन गुण विद्यमान होने चाहिएं: i. उसे सुसमाचारों में प्रचार किया गया हो, अर्थात प्रभु यीशु मसीह द्वारा कहे और सिखाए गए होना। ii. वे प्रेरितों के काम में व्यावहारिक मसीही या मण्डली के जीवन में प्रदर्शित किए गए हों; अर्थात उनका प्रथम एवं आरंभिक मंडलियों द्वारा माना गया और पालन किया गया होना चाहिए। iii. पत्रियों में उसकी व्याख्या की गई या उसके विषय सिखाया गया हो; अर्थात परमेश्वर पवित्र आत्मा ने उन शिक्षाओं और व्यवहारों की पुष्टि की है, और उनसे संबंधित और बातें को भी परमेश्वर के वचन में सिखाया तथा लिखवाया है। जिस भी शिक्षा, व्यवहार, या बात में ये तीनों गुण नहीं हैं, उसे तुरंत स्वीकार नहीं करना चाहिए, उसे बताने वाला चाहे कोई भी हो, कितना भी प्रसिद्ध और ज्ञानी क्यों न हो। पहले, सचेत होकर तथा प्रार्थना के साथ, बेरिया के विश्वासियों के समान (प्रेरितों 17:11), वचन से यह देखना चाहिए कि जो उस शिक्षा अथवा व्यवहार में कहा और बताया जा रहा है, वास्तव में पवित्र शास्त्र में वैसा ही लिखा है या नहीं - यह करना कोई आपत्तिजनक बात नहीं वरन खरे आत्मिक जन होने का चिह्न है 1 कुरिन्थियों 2:15।

यदि आप मसीही विश्वासी हैं, तो क्या आप किसी मसीही सेवकाई में भी संलग्न हैं? आपके लिए यह करना अनिवार्य है क्योंकि परमेश्वर पिता ने अपनी सभी संतानों के लिए कुछ-न-कुछ सेवकाई पहले से तय की हुई है (इफिसियों 2:10), और आपका उसे पूरा न करना, अनाज्ञाकारिता है, आपके अनन्त जीवन के प्रतिफलों के लिए हानिकारक है। आप जिन बातों, शिक्षाओं, व्यवहार का पालन करते हैं या औरों को उन्हें सिखाते और उन से करवाते हैं, उनके विषय बहुत सचेत रहने वाले और उन्हें परमेश्वर के वचन के अनुसार खराई से जाँचने वाले बनें। अन्यथा शैतान अपनी चतुराई से आपको आकर्षक तथा प्रबल लगने वाली किन्तु गलत शिक्षाओं और व्यवहार के द्वारा बहका कर बहुत नुकसान में फंसा देगा (2 कुरिन्थियों 11:3; कुलुस्सियों 2:4, 6-8)।

 

यदि आपने प्रभु की शिष्यता को अभी तक स्वीकार नहीं किया है, तो थोड़ा थम कर विचार कीजिए, क्या मसीही विश्वास के अतिरिक्त आपको कहीं और यह अद्भुत और विलक्षण आशीषों से भरा सौभाग्य प्राप्त होगा, कि आप जैसी भी दशा में हैं, उसी में परमेश्वर आपको स्वीकार कर लेगा, और सदा काल के लिए अपना बना लेगा। साथ ही क्या किसी पापी मनुष्य के लिए कहीं और यह संभव है कि परमेश्वर स्वयं आप में आ कर सर्वदा के लिए निवास करे; आपको धर्मी बनाए; आपको अपना वचन सिखाए; और आपको शैतान की युक्तियों और हमलों से सुरक्षित रखने के सभी प्रयोजन करके दे? और फिर, आप में होकर अपने आप को तथा अपनी धार्मिकता को औरों पर प्रकट करे, आपको खरा आँकलन करने और सच्चा न्याय करने वाला बनाए; तथा आप में होकर पाप में भटके लोगों को उद्धार और अनन्त जीवन प्रदान करने के अपने अद्भुत कार्य करे, जिससे अंततः आपको ही अपनी ईश्वरीय आशीषों से भर सके? इसलिए अपने अनन्त जीवन और स्वर्गीय आशीषों को सुनिश्चित करने के लिए अभी प्रभु यीशु के पक्ष में अपना निर्णय कर लीजिए। जहाँ प्रभु की आज्ञाकारिता है, उसके वचन की बातों का आदर और पालन है, वहाँ प्रभु की आशीष और सुरक्षा भी है। स्वेच्छा और सच्चे मन से अपने पापों के लिए पश्चाताप करके, उनके लिए प्रभु से क्षमा माँगकर, अपने आप को उसकी अधीनता में समर्पित कर दीजिए - उद्धार और स्वर्गीय जीवन का यही एकमात्र मार्ग है। आप अपने पापों के अंगीकार और पश्चाताप करके, प्रभु यीशु से समर्पण की प्रार्थना कुछ इस प्रकार से भी कर सकते हैं, “प्रभु यीशु मैं आपका धन्यवाद करता हूँ कि आपने मेरे पापों की क्षमा और समाधान के लिए मेरे सभी पापों को अपने ऊपर लिया, उनके कारण मेरे स्थान पर क्रूस की मृत्यु सही, गाड़े गए, और मेरे उद्धार के लिए आप तीसरे दिन जी भी उठे, और आज जीवित प्रभु परमेश्वर हैं। कृपया मेरे पापों को क्षमा करें, मुझे अपनी शरण में लें, और मुझे अपना शिष्य बना लें। मैं अपना जीवन आप के हाथों में समर्पित करता हूँ।” प्रभु की शिष्यता तथा मन परिवर्तन के लिए सच्चे पश्चाताप और समर्पित मन से की गई आपकी एक प्रार्थना आपके वर्तमान तथा भविष्य को, इस लोक के और परलोक के जीवन को, अनन्तकाल के लिए स्वर्गीय एवं आशीषित बना देगी।

English Translation

Discernment and Maturity Through the Holy Spirit - John 16:12-13

In the previous article we have seen that, as the Lord Jesus has said, there are some things of the Christian Faith and Ministry that can only be understood by the help of the Holy Spirit. We had seen an example of this in John 6:60-66, where some of the then disciples of the Lord could not understand what the Lord was saying about the Lord’s Table, could not bear it, therefore left the Lord Jesus and went away. With salvation, the Holy Spirit of God comes to reside in the Christian Believer, but unless and until the saved person starts walking in obedience to the promptings of the Holy Spirit, the requisite maturity and understanding does not develop in him, as it ought to according to the time since salvation. Paul admonished the Christian Believers of the Church in Corinth, and for their immature behavior called them babes and carnal (1 Corinthians 3:1-4), because instead of the fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) being evident from their lives, they were exhibiting a life of worldliness. Similarly, the writer or Hebrews too admonishes his readers, since they had not reached the maturity expected from them for their being in the Christian Faith, and they still needed to learn the fundamental principles of the Christian Faith (Hebrews 5:11-14).

In other words, the presence of the Holy Spirit within a Christian Believer does not by itself make him ready and prepared for Christian ministry. Every person has to learn to live the life of Christian Faith, to grow in it, and to live in obedience to God; and God the Holy Spirit is their helper and guide in doing so. If the person is unwilling to learn and obey, persists in worldly ways, then that grieves the Holy Spirit. Paul, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit wrote, “I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh” (Galatians 5:16); this shows that if a saved person is living a life of worldliness and of fulfilling the desires of the flesh, then he is not living and walking in obedience to the Holy Spirit and is not on the way to spiritual maturity. In contrast, his changed life, the presence of the fruits of the Spirit in his life, his giving the priority to God’s Word and living in obedience to it, and the people of the world feeling convicted for sin, righteousness, and judgment by his life, are all evidences of not only the Holy Spirit being present in him, but his walking according to the Spirit as well.

In John 16:13, in relation to His work as a teacher, the Holy Spirit has once again been called “the Spirit of Truth”; i.e., everything about Him is the truth, and He will only show the way of truth, and will never be involved in any untruth or anything false. The Word of God, the Bible, defines “truth” in both the Old as well as the New Testaments:

Psalms 119:160 “The entirety of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous judgments endures forever.”

John 14:6 “Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”

John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.”

In other words, the truth that is talked of in God’s Word, is not according to worldly standards and definitions, but is according to the Word of God and the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. The simple, straightforward implication is that any behavior, preaching, and teaching that has not been given in the Bible; or, is not seen in the life, behavior, and teachings of the Lord Jesus, is not the “truth”, is inappropriate. All such teachings and behavior are unacceptable for the Christian Believer, because, as the Lord Jesus has Himself said, everything false and untrue is from Satan, for he is the father of all lies (John 8:44). In Christian Faith and Ministry, to recognize and accept Biblically true teachings and doctrines, three characteristics ought to be seen in them: (i) they must have been preached in the Gospels, i.e., must have been preached and taught by the Lord Jesus; (ii) they must have been evidently present and seen in the first Church, i.e., they must be recorded in the Book of Acts; (iii) they must have been expounded upon in the letters or epistles, i.e., the Holy Spirit must have affirmed those teachings and behavior, and He must have got written things related to those teachings and doctrines in God’s Word. If all of these three characteristics are not seen or present in any teaching or doctrine, then it must not immediately be accepted, no matter who is stating them, or telling and teaching about them, howsoever famous and knowledgeable he may be. We should, like the Believers of Berea (Acts 17:11), first prayerfully and carefully examine and evaluate according to God’s Word whether what is being preached and taught really and factually is according to God’s Word or not - doing this should not become a point of contention, but should be seen as a sign of a mature spiritual person (1 Corinthians 2:15).

If you are Christian Believer, then are you also involved in Christian Ministry? It is mandatory for you to be doing this, since God the Father has determined some ministry or the other for each and every one of His children (Ephesians 2:10). Your not carrying out the assigned ministry is disobedience, and is detrimental for your heavenly rewards and eternal benefits. Whatever things, teachings, and behavior you exhibit, or preach and teach to others, be very careful and discerning about them, that they should all be absolutely according to God’s Word; else Satan will easily beguile you  in wrong teachings and behavior, and bring you to great harm (2 Corinthians 11:3; Colossians 2:4, 6-8).

If you are still thinking of yourself as being a Christian, because of being born in a particular family and having fulfilled the religious rites and rituals prescribed under your religion or denomination since your childhood, then you too need to come out of your misunderstanding of Biblical facts and start understanding and living according to what the Word of God says, instead of what any denominational creed says or teaches. Make the necessary corrections in your life now while you have the time and opportunity; lest by the time you realize your mistake, it is too late to do anything about it.

If you are still not Born Again, have not obtained salvation, or have not asked the Lord Jesus for forgiveness for your sins, then you have the opportunity to do so right now. A short prayer said voluntarily with a sincere heart, with heartfelt repentance for your sins, and a fully submissive attitude, “Lord Jesus, I confess that I have disobeyed You, and have knowingly or unknowingly, in mind, in thought, in attitude, and in deeds, committed sins. I believe that you have fully borne the punishment of my sins by your sacrifice on the cross, and have paid the full price of those sins for all eternity. Please forgive my sins, change my heart and mind towards you, and make me your disciple, take me with you." God longs for your company and wants to see you blessed, but to make this possible, is your personal decision. Will you not say this prayer now, while you have the time and opportunity to do so - the decision is yours.
